Previous issue date: 2010-02-18 / Fundo Mackenzie de Pesquisa / After a long history of exclusion, disabled people have been claiming their space by seeking full citizenship for living in society. Inclusion in market place is part of this process. Thus, the research problem in this study tried to identify which experiences are important to the competence construction and professional recognition of disabled people who are already embraced in organizational context and who are the main actors that contribute to this process. This paper is a case study, carried out on a pharmaceutical industry. Seventeen participants of the inclusion process in this organization were interviewed. Data collection strategy made use of three main investigation sources: i) participant observation; ii) semistructured interview and; iii) documentation analysis. The theoretical discussion was supported by the competence containing presented by authors such as Le Boterf, Zarifian,Sandberg and Cheetham; Chivers. The concepts related to disability and inclusion were based on Aranha, Amaral, Freitas, Gil, Omote, Saeta and other authors point of view. Analysis and interpretation of collected information was done by using the general qualitative data analysis method proposed by Flores. Results disclose that, although the construction and competence development process occurs by formal, informal and self-development experiences specificly designed for disabled people, those actions consider only part of this public who occupy lower hierarchical positions. Such initiatives not always consider the potential of these professionals, in pursuance of that, many of them have not promoted fully competence development and recognition. Inclusion inside the company also depends on actors who work outside the organization. What normally happens is that such actors are not prepared to fulfill neither disabled people specificities nor companies needs. Even so the articulation between company and external actors occurs, there s no dialog and effective partnership which allows putting forward the professional inclusion and development process of disabled people. Moreover, this study has presented the elements that make possible the reflection about how organizational programs which aims to develop the competences of disabled people are carried out.

Centrum volného času a integrace v Hranicích / Leisure and Integration Centre in HraniceCamarda, Gabriela January 2011 (has links)
The basic starting point of the project is to understand needs of mentally disabled people and an evaluation of a badly usable floodplain. The draft proposes creation of an activity park, an exemplary garden and a leisure- and integration centre object. The centre generates an important point on the route from the city centre to the neighbouring spa town and connects two significant areas in the town, which associate various cultural and sports facilities. The design of flood-protection works was evolving from a version with a partial increase of the terrain and placement of a flood-protection dyke up to the nature-close arrangements in a terrain-dyke form, which doesn´t inhibit natural processes of the Bečva river and maintains an active flood zone in an almost unchanged shape. The building program was formulated in two versions. A creative café connected with a gastro-workshop is fundamental in the both versions. In the building program A a horticulture is emphasised, the building program B is more aimed at a creative-workshops. The new building is reacting to the needs for integration of disabled people and it's creating a place for “meeting”. The public space is creating by the composition of volume containing various functions. The garden- and park-arrangements in the studied area were chosen in the way to fully support the character of the planned leisure-centre. The draft is composed by geometrically alternating areas with different functions, which are connected by a promenade going along the dyke-crown.

'A beginning and not the end’: Work after a diagnosis of dementiaWilliams, Jannine, Richardson, Sue, Draper, E. 2017 November 1920 (has links)
Yes / While there is a growing literature on the experiences of disabled workers, this article presents an account of a work experience not frequently documented: being employed while living with dementia. It does this through the account of Elizabeth Draper, an NHS Hospital Trust manager, who received a diagnosis of dementia while employed. The article offers new ways of conceptualizing the struggles of disabled workers to continue with their project of self-becoming through work. It shows how work practices can enact violence through ‘non-recognition’ and how workers can subvert this violence to create opportunities for future development.

Disabled People, Effective Practitioners: Enabling a Health Care Workforce that Better Reflects SocietyDearnley, Christine A., Elliott, J., Hargreaves, J., Morris, S., Walker, L., Walker, Stuart A., Arnold, C. 15 December 2010 (has links)
No / In this paper we will discuss the current tensions that exist between UK anti-discrimination legislation and the professional and statutory regulatory bodies (PSRBs) that govern registration of health and social care practitioners in the United Kingdom. The tensions arise from aspirations for a work force that reflects the wider community and the need to safeguard patient safety. We present an overview of the relevant legislation and the requirements of the main health and social care professional statutory and regulating bodies, whose overall aim is safeguarding the general public. Four individual case studies, which have drawn on qualitative and quantitative data to explore some of the ensuing challenges and seek resolutions, are discussed and their outcomes synthesised to make recommendations. Conducting research with disabled participants requires specific considerations; we reflect on these in this paper and discuss our experiential learning.

The football for blind is a team sport that provides the practice of the football phenomenon for blind people. Its rules are based on futsal rules. The current adaptations aim to contemplate the blind people specific characteristics. In this context, this study objectives to describe and analyze the football for blind specific characteristics: What are the contexts and characters which mediate the development and practice of this sport? How are the teams organized? What are the tactical-technical strategies used by players according to their different perceptions? Seeking to achieve this target, we used the semi-structured interview to collect the data from six players who played for the Brazilian team in the Paralympics Games Athens 2004, Pan- American Games 2005 and World Championship 2006; and the coaches who have trained or not the Brazilian team, but have already managed top teams in the country. After the interviews transcriptions, they were analyzed by Enunciation Analyses, a technique from Contend Analyses. The data showed the cultural mediation circle of football for blind, influenced by the football phenomenon and stared by the following characters: football players, family, teacher/coach, friends and football for blind players. These characters interact in the following contexts for the sport¿s learning mediation: institute/entity, events (adapted sport), Brazilian team and Physical Education courses. For the regencial basis exercise the teams develop communication strategies based on the standard of terms, decentralization and personification. The tactic systems signify and support the communication, because the received information depends on the function of each player. For the offensive principles the teams used preestablished plays and upgraded the sport tactical-technical patrimony. For the defense the teams focus their organization in the ball circulation, characterizing the zone defense and providing the covers. In the transition between offensive and defensive sides the teams seek to use the goalkeeper visual sense, trying to surprise the rival with quick throws. For the game understanding the players develop a mental map of the court from sonorous and kinetics referential. This mental image enables players to guide themselves by the game space, based on fixed referential points, and previewed in rules. The team communication and the rival communication, provides the localization of the mobile referential (players). Knowing other players characteristics, either colleagues or opponents, also help the game understanding. With the information obtained by game reading, the player processes it according to his perception skills and selects the tactical-technical strategies that he judges necessary to solve the problem situation in what he is / Mestrado / Atividade Fisica, Adaptação e Saude / Mestre em Educação Física

PLÅNKAN : Visuellt stöd för kognitiva svårigheter inom ekonomiElmehög, Isac January 2021 (has links)
This thesis is based on a perceived problem from staffmembers of an accommodation for youths with disabilitiesthat has been shared with me. Through this contact I got aclear view of the troubles that occured, the possibilities andlimitations that revolved around the subject. The problemthat had been identified was how the youths did not haveaccess to or sometimes were not trusted with a cash cardfor different reasons. This has created a problem for thesepeople when they are trying to shop from a store that hasbecome cashless. The consequences of this is clear, theycannot pay for themselves wich is based on two things. The trend of stores turning cashless and that people withintellectual disabilities have difficulties with understandingthe value of digital money. In this thesis I focus on the latter, the understanding of digital money. The problem will be treated with graphic design as a startingpoint and investigate how the cashless community canevolve to be more including. An initial idea session resultedin a focus of creating the following: An application thatsimplifies and clarifies digital monetary value. This will beperceived through providing the target group with a visualaid that can be customized based on the users comprehensionand preferences. The app will also include a paymentfeature that utilizes the opportunity to give the user visualaid. This can provide the user with a deeper understandingof the impact of the transaction on their total ammount.

Tourism travel for families with wheelchair carried children : Experiences of parents to children with cerebral palsyNyman, Emma January 2016 (has links)
People with disabilities tend to face more difficulties and constraints when they are travelling for tourism purposes, compared to non-disabled people. This is problematic because mobility in general (and tourism in particular) is, more or less, seen as a ‘human right’ and has the potential to contribute to peoples’ well-being. Tourism travel should, therefore, be available for everyone. This thesis aims to contribute to the understanding of tourism travel for people with mobility-disabilities by studying the experiences of parents to wheelchair carried children with cerebral palsy. The main study objectives are threefold, namely: (1) which constraints these families face throughout the tourism travel chain; (2) how the child’s disability affect these families’ destination decision processes; and (3) which improvements that can be made in order to make it easier for these families to participate in tourism travel. An interview study was made including 13 parents to wheelchair children with cerebral palsy and these interviews were analysed by using thematic analysis. The findings show that different constraints and barriers (intrinsic, interactive and environmental) are evident during all different phases of the tourism travel chain and affect these families’ choices regarding type of tourism trip, which destination they travel to, which transport modes that they can use, which requirements they have in terms of accommodation and which limitations they face when participating in different activities. Some suggestions regarding improvements are also provided, based on what the parents require in order to make tourism travel easier for them.
