Ópio para Ovídio: o livro do travesseiro de Yoko Tawada em tradução / Opium for Ovid: the pillow book by Yoko Tawada in translation

Vale, Alice Fátima Fonseca do 25 September 2017 (has links)
This work presents the main issues involved in the partial translation process from German into Brazilian Portuguese of the book Opium für Ovid: Ein Kopfkissenbuch von 22 Frauen (Opium for Ovid: A Pillow Book of 22 Women), by Yoko Tawada. This dissertation should be understood as a preliminary study about the writer and her work written in German, a foreign language to her, who writes also in Japanese, her mother tongue. In a context of constant migration and a growing xenophobia, the experience of foreignness is considered here as necessary. By allowing the translated text to emphasize the displacement from perspectives, the goal of providing this experience with the foreign (fremd) can be achieved through the act of translating.

January 2009 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: In the sowing operation, the appropriate stand and the uniformity on the distribution of seeds are mentioned as factors of great influence on the corn yield.. These factors can be affected by several variables, being the planter displacement velocity one of the most important of them, besides the adjustment of seeds in the perforated disc device for seed dosage. The inadequate displacement velocity and adjustment of the planter may provide low population of plants, leading to an undesired yield. The current paper had as its objective to analyze the precision planter's operational and energetically performances according to five different displacement velocities and two types of jumpers used for planting no-tillage corn. The experiment was installed and conducted at the experimental area belonging to the College of Agricultural Science - UNESP located in Botucatu, Sao Paulo state, in the period comprised between December, 2007 and May, 2008. The experimental soil area was classified as Nitossolo Vermelho Distroférrico presenting a deep argillaceous texture. The experimental design consisted of blocks at random with parcels subdivided in factorial scheme 2x5, two types of jumpers (4 and 5 staples) and 5 different displacement velocities (3,0; 4,5; 5,0; 7,0 e 9,0 Km h-1) with four repetitions. Thus, the experiment was composed by 10 treatments, totalizing 40 experimental plots. The evaluated data regarded to the percentage of soil coverage, the sowing line depth, mobilized soil and seed overthrown area, horal and operational fuel consumption, force on the tractor traction bar, displacement velocity, effective field capacity, longitudinal distribution of seeds, average number of days for the emergence of seedlings, morphological and corn production components, mechanical harm on seeds and grain production. The displacement velocity effect was verified on the following variables: horal... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Mestre

Modélisation du mouvement d'une foule via la théorie de la dynamique non régulière des solides / Crowd modeling through the theory of non-smooth dynamics of solids

Jebrane, Aissam 19 December 2018 (has links)
This work concerns the modeling of pedestrian movement inspired by the non-smooth dynamics approach for the rigid and deformable solids. Firstly, a reformulation of the non-smooth approaches of M.Frémond and J.J.Moreau for rigid body dynamics is developed. The proposed theory relies on the notion of percussion which is the integral of the contact force during the duration of the collision. Contrary to classical discrete element models, it is here assumed that percussions can be only expressed as a function of the velocity before the impact. This assumption is checked for the usual mechanical constitutive laws for collisions. Motion equations are then reformulated taking into account simultaneous collisions of solids. The existence and uniqueness of the solution of the proposed model are discussed according to the regularity of both the forces (Lebesgue-density occurring during the regular evolution of the system) and the percussions (Dirac-density describing the collision). A condition on the internal percussion assuring that the collision is thermodynamically admissible is established. An application to the collision of rigid disks and the flow in a funnel-shaped hourglass is presented. The approach is extended to crowd motion, indeed; the circulation of pedestrians through the bottlenecks is studied and deals with to optimize evacuation and improve the design of pedestrian facilities. A sensitivity analysis is performed to study the effect of the parameters of a 2D discrete crowd movement model on the nature of pedestrian’s collision and on evacuation times. The question of estimation of contact forces and the pressure generated in a moving crowd is approached both from a discrete and continues point of view. A comparison between the second-order microscopic model (2D discrete model) and the continues approaches is presented. Contact forces are rigorously defined taking into account multiple, simultaneous contact and the non-overlapping condition between pedestrians. We show that for a dense crowd the percussions (moment umjump corresponding to instantaneous contact) become contact forces. For continuous approach, the pressure is calculated according to volume and surface constraints. This approach makes it possible to retain an admissible right-velocity (after impact), including both the non local interactions (at a distance interactions) between non neighbor pedestrians and the choice of displacement strategy of each pedestrian. Finally, two applications are presented : a one-dimensional simulation of an aligned pedestrian chain crashing into an obstacle, and a two-dimensional simulation corresponding to the evacuation of a room. In order to make the approach more efficient, we modeled each pedestrian with a deformable solid, the unidimensional case is studied a comparison with the discreet case is presented that corresponding to a crash of a pedestrian chain in a fixed obstacle is treated. The analytical solution of contact equations is developed for both approaches. This allows to calibrate the model parameters and offers an asymptotic study of the solutions. The non-smooth theory of deformable solids makes it possible to calculate the current velocity of the crowd as a continuous medium taking into account the interactions with the environment and their desired velocity. a macroscopic representation is developed through Hyperbolic – Elliptic Equations. indded;the crowd is described by its density whose evolution is given by a non local balance law. the current velocity involved in the equation is given by the collision equation of a deformable solid with a rigid plane. Firstly, we prove the well posedness of balance laws with a non smooth ux and function source in bounded domains, the existence of a weak entropic solution, it’s uniqueness and stability with respect to the initial datum and of the boundary datum. an application to crowdmodeling is presented

This research proposed an association between draping technique and Strategic Design. Draping, a type of representation in Fashion Design, is a threedimensional modeling technique which consists in directly modeling a piece of fabric on the body or mannequin. It is usually done in the modeling phase, in the end of the design fashion process. The Strategic Design, one type of design, encompasses an earlier design stage, called metaprojetual phase, which consists of research and interpretation of the design problem data that drives to the generation of conceptual proposals, called design concepts. Both Strategic Design and Fashion Design have creative and project character that uses techniques of representation as a way to materialize and visualize their project concepts. The objective of this research was to analyze the effects of the displacement of draping technique to the metaprojetual phase to build design concepts. Through a literature review and with a qualitative exploratory study, it was proposed a Design Exercise developed with the Strategic Design methodology. The exercise consisted of solving a fashion design briefing using the draping technique during the concept building process. It was applied with eight groups, which one consisting of a fashion designer and a designer. Through videos and interviews it was analyzed how they used the draping technique to generate and represent their ideas in the concept building process. The results showed that the draping technique, being used experimentally during the metaprojetual phase, contributed as a stimulus to potentiate the generation and the representation of the designers' ideas as well as it contributed to build, visualize and materialize the design concept.

Pump Displacement Control in Steering On-Highway Commercial Vehicles

Amine Nhila (6194160) 10 January 2019 (has links)
<div>Due to recent advances in sensor technology and the exponential increase in computation power of electronic control units (ECUs) along with their increasing affordability, active safety and vehicle automation have become major trends in the commercial vehicle industry. New regulations for increased safety are also a major driver behind the industry's increased interest in that topic. As a result, being a crucial part of vehicle automation, steering systems had to be adapted to enable Active Steering. Consequently, commercial vehicle steering designers introduced the concept of torque and angle overlay using an electric motor in series with the conventional hydraulic steering system. However, despite the fact that these systems are becoming more prevalent in the market, they still suffer from inefficiencies intrinsic to the conventional hydraulic steering system still being used. These inefficiencies are a result of</div><div>flow metering losses due to the use of control valves to regulate the pump flow output, as well as inside the steering gear with the use control valves to build assistance pressure.</div><div><br></div><div><div>In this research project, we investigate the potential use of the proven pump Displacement Control (DC) technology in steering on-highway commercial vehicles. DC pumps have been shown to signicantly improve system efficiency as they allow the removal of control valves typically used to regulate </div><div>ow [1]. Instead, the displacement of the pump can be directly controlled to vary the pump's flow rate and direction,</div><div>and thus eliminating throttling losses. The DC technology has been successfully used in a steer-by-wire conguration for an articulated frame steering vehicle and has been shown to signicantly improve efficiency and productivity, as well as result in a reduction in fuel consumption [2].</div></div><div><br></div><div><div>In this work, we propose a steer-by-wire system, using DC pump technology, for on-highway commercial vehicles, and present the dierent possible congurations in which it can be implemented. Moreover, the benets and drawbacks of the steer-by-wire system are researched and identied. Subsequently, the system is designed and validated in simulation, on laboratory test setup, as well as on a test vehicle to prove its feasibility.</div></div><div><br></div><div><div>Chief among the drawbacks of the steer-by-wire system is potential failures that can lead to the complete loss of the steering function of the vehicle. As a result, different possible fail-safe mechanisms are researched from which the most suitable ones are proposed to allow the steer-by-wire system to fail safely. Moreover, two of the proposed fail-safe mechanism are implemented onto the test vehicle to prove and validate their feasibility.</div></div><div><br></div><div><div>Furthermore, an alternative way of using displacement controlled pumps for active steering is be proposed. For this concept, we investigate the possibility of actively controlling the driver's steering effort by varying the pump displacement while maintaining the mechanical link between the steering wheel and the road wheels. If successful, this method will allow for a more efficient way of providing steering assistance as it does away with the conventional control valves used to build pressure and regulate pump flow, and thus eliminating throttling losses. This method has also the advantage of having an intrinsic fail-safe mechanism with manual steering being always possible should the hydraulic or electric systems fail.</div></div>

VALVE PLATE DESIGN MODEL FOCUSING ON NOISE REDUCTION IN AXIAL PISTON MACHINES

Abhimanyu Baruah (5930537) 03 January 2019 (has links)
<p>The advantages of high efficiency, reliability, flexibility and high power to weight ratio make axial piston pumps popular for use in a wide variety of applications like construction and agricultural machinery, off road vehicles and aerospace applications. However, a major drawback which limits their extensive use in other commercial applications is noise. One of the important components in axial piston machines is the valve plate, which influences the transition of the suction and delivery flows into and out of the displacement chamber. Appropriate design of the valve plate can play a significant role in influencing the rate of compression and expansion in the displacement chamber, and hence contribute towards the abatement of noise in axial piston machines. Furthermore, the relief grooves in valve plates makes them relatively less sensitive to operating conditions for the operation of the pump. The high sensitivity of the valve plate design towards the pressure build up in the displacement chamber and towards the noise sources are big motivation factors towards rigorously exploring the design space to find suitable designs to meet the objective of noise reduction. This motivates the development of an advanced computational tool, colloquially called 'MiNoS', where a powerful optimization algorithm has been combined together with a novel parametrization scheme for valve plate design and a 1D simulation model of swash plate type axial piston machines to find optimized designs which can contribute towards noise reduction in swash plate type axial piston machines. Furthermore, incorporation of the appropriate constraint also helps in avoiding designs susceptible to the onset of cavitation in the displacement chamber. A case study performed using the developed computational tool has been shown later in this work.</p>

Infiltração gordurosa nos mm. multífidus e psoas maior em função do tipo de alteração discal em pacientes com lombalgia: um estudo através de imagens de ressonância magnética / Fat infiltration in multifidi and psoas major muscles according to disc pathology in low back pain patients: a magnetic resonance imaging study

Bojadsen, Thais Weber de Alencar 30 March 2004 (has links)
Low back pain patients present atrophy on muscles responsible for spine stabilization. However, it is not clear if muscle waste is related to the cause or if it is a consequence of this disfunction. Nor it is clear if muscle athophy is affected by the type of disc pathology. This study tested the hypothesis that muscle waste in low back pain patients influenced by the type of disc derangement. Magnetic resonance scans of 78 low back pain patients were randomly analysed. Cross sectional area percentage of fat tissue in multifidi and psoas major muscles was measured on the lower levels of the lumbar spine. Disc pathology was found in 95% of the exams and disc bulge was the most frequent abnormality, followed by disc protrusion. Fat percentage varied according to disc pathology and this difference was statistically significant. Muscles on levels with disc bulge presented 6% more fat deposits than muscles on levels with disc protrusion. Muscles on levels with discs without anular tear present more fat infiltration than muscles on levels with anular tear. Fat percentage was also influenced by anatomic aspects such as evaluated muscle and spine level, and sample characteristics as age and sex. The results indicated that muscle atrophy in low back pain patients is not a uniform and generalized feature. It is correlated to different variables, such as type of disc pathology

Avaliação por meio da ressonância magnética do sinal do tecido retrodiscal associado à anotomia de eminência articular do osso temporal na presença de derrame articular e deslocamento do disco com e sem redução em pacientes sintomáticos / Evaluation of MRI signal intensity of retrodiscal tissue associated with morphology of the articular eminence of the temporal bone,TMJ effusion status, and disc disc displacement with and without reduction in symptomatic patients.

Warmling, Luiza Verônica 03 May 2013 (has links)
This study evaluated MR signal intensity of retrodiscal tissue associated with articular eminence morphology, joint effusion status, and disc displacement with and without reduction (DDwR and DDwoR, respectively). Forty-eight TMJ MR images of 24 symptomatic subjects (19 females and 5 males) were analyzed. For the sagittal position, 5 (10.4%) joints were normal, 23 (47.9%) showed DDwR and 20 (41.7%) DDwoR. Regarding articular eminence morphology, 15 (31.3%) joints were classified as box-shaped, 12 (25.0%) as sigmoid, 10 (20.8%) flattened and 11 (22.9%) deformed. The majority of TMJs (32 or 66.7%) showed effusion. Sixteen (51.6%) of the TMJs with DDwoR had effusion versus 15 (48.4%) of those with DDDwR. Of TMJs with DDwR, 9 (39.1%) were box-shaped, 6 (26.1%) sigmoid, 3 (13.0%) flattened and 5 (21.7%) deformed. Among joints with DDwoR, 5 (25.5%) were boxshaped, 4 (20.0%) sigmoid, 6 (30.0%) flattened and 5 (25.5%) deformed. As a conclusion, articular eminence shape was not related to sagittal position of the disk (p = 0.520). Sagittal position of the disk was not related to presence of effusion (p = 0.281). Signal intensity of retrodiscal tissue (RT) was statistically lower in the DDwR sagittal position than in DDwoR cases (p = 0.016). There was a tendency for higher RT signal intensity in joints with effusion versus those without effusion (p = 0.065). No relationship between sagittal position of the disc and effusion was observed. No relationship between signal intensity of retrodiscal tissue and shape of articular eminence was identified (p = 0.159).

Temporomandibular jointinternal derangement causes such symptoms and it is generally characterized by disc displacement followed by disc- condyle irregular relation, jaw- temple‟s articular componentsjoint morphological changes, as well as effusion and degenerative changes in that joint. This study aims to evaluate the association between displacement, function, disc position and condylar excursion in jaw- temple joint symptomatology by using magnetic resonance imaging. The sample consisted of 140 jaw-temple joints.Displacement, function and disc position were analyzed.Clock hours and condylar excursion were used as criterion. There were used bivariate and multivariate logistic regressions for statistical analysis, in order to verify those variables association with the following signs and symptoms: presence of pain, clicks, crackles, jerky and mouth opening limitation. Results showed positive association between displacement with reduction andhypoexcursion with pain (p = 0.05), between displacement with reduction and clicks (p = 0.05), between disc position lower than 10 hours, displacement without reducing and hypoexcursion with irregular movement and opening limitation (p <0.05). It was also observed that only the lower position than 10 hours showed a correlation with symptoms, suggesting normal position comprising the range of 10 hours to 1 hour. Displacements with and without reduction showed associations with some signs and symptoms as regards disc function.About condylar excursion, only hypoexcursion was associated with symptoms. It was concluded that there was association of temporomandibular jointdisordersymptoms with disc function and position, as well as with condylar excursion.

The aim of this work is to broach the assumption correlated to the reflected socioeconomics generated by the appropriation of the space for installation of the hydroeletric plant of High Tijuco, whose investing is the agent Brazilian Company of Aliminium (CBA). The appropriations had initiated to the end of years 1980 and had been drawn out throughout the decade of 1990. In this process it had pressure of the interested party for the appropriations being directed for the proprietors of property to negotiate its properties. Some of results of the appropriations of property are the social passive (population displacement, ruptures in the sociability) and economic passive (rupture in the economic dynamics communitarian agriculturist and commercial). We finalize supplying emphasis to disorganize produced by the Brazilian Company of Aluminum in the communal space assigned like Area of Straight Influence after the beginning of the urban and rural estates appropriation trial and the passive socioeconomics resulting.
