Exploring uncomfortable situations in the practice of a Swedish leadership consultant

Lundquist Coey, Åsa Margaretha January 2015 (has links)
This research examines the practice of process consultancy in Sweden with a particular emphasis on working in disturbing and uncomfortable situations. The managerial discourses that consultants are working in are dominated by an abstract language with a relentless eye towards imaginative futures in the form of visions, missions, strategies, and goals (Stacey 2011, Mowles 2014). Based on linear casuality thinking that comes from the natural sciences, the assumption is of predictability and control. Therefore, disturbing, uncomfortable, or conflicting situations arising in practice are generally overlooked, avoided, or suppressed as they - per definition - are neither predictable nor controllable. Although process consultancy in many respects gradually has changed from delivery/expertise of ready made concepts into more of conversational facilitation, speaking partnerships, inquiry and coaching, disturbing and uncomfortable moments are still generally being avoided or overlooked. This research is a narrative-based inquiry that has served as a basis for engagement in literature, reflections, reflexive inquiries, and conversations with fellow researchers, members of faculty, and other practitioners. Out of this iterative and intese process, the arguments have emerged and developed. In describing a multitude of uncomfortable and disturbing situations from my practice, and while paying close attention to them in local context, a view of these situations as problematic and avoidable has moved into a wider and deeper understanding regarding what might be taking place among us. Interpreting directives, policies, and strategies - what to do and how to do it - in order to find the most functional ways forward is imperative in organisations. Hence, corrigibility and definite inquiries into worlds of practice and relations are necessities. As ideologies and intentions among people differ, problems and disturbances are inevitably encountered in processes of particularising (making concrete in specific contexts) generalised plans and strategies, which, in turn, creates different and new generalisations (Stacey 2011, p. 358). Utilising process consultancy in order to 'deal' with the above situation may, however, paradoxically enhance anxiety and disturbancies even more. In drawing attention to disturbances as central, 'normal', and generative (normforming), I have come to think of the actual process in process consultancy as having felt dissolving qualities. As 'states' of body/mind are temporary, shifting, and changing when we are being influenced and influence others and ourselves (constrain and enable) at the same time as we speak, a sense of solution often occurs in the process. Rather than solving or resolving issues - a more traditional approach, intentionally aiming at fixing something - acts of conversations and reflexive inquiries are not aiming anywhere in particular. They are explorative and mind-moving and make us re-identify or re-form our sense of self. Hence, in the process of 'loosening up or breaking apart' identity, a sense of solution (I refer to as dissolution) is felt to emerge. This process can be disturbing per se, and the newly gained thinking - also of a temporary kind - can be felt as 'better' or 'worse' or neither, as movements and outcomes are unpredictable. In process consultancy, the understanding of people as an elusive science - changeable, fluid, and plural (messy and needy rather than tidy and rational) - is helpful in order to understand 'stuckness' and enable movement by taking experience seriously rather than engaging in excessive quantification or being futuristic and idealising.

Médecine, SIDA et pulsion de mort : étude psychopathologique d'une clinique « nomade » / Medecine, H.I.V. and the death drive : psychopathological study based on an exploratory practice

Serhani, Beldhia 22 June 2015 (has links)
When we first started practicing in a hospital unitth at treated V.l.H. positive patients, we asked ourselve:in the fîrst part of this research, if psychological intervention was possible in such a highly specialized unit. With the receding of te deadly nature of Aids, it appears more a chronic illness. The limîts are pushed back, but at what price ? Finally, the part of this research proposes a psychopathological reflection on the problems posed by the"death drive" présent at the very heart of the drive, and that we've seen un leashed by this pathologyby the act of intentional contaminations.

EMC anténa / EMC antenna

Tenora, Jan January 2016 (has links)
The goal of this master’s thesis was to design antenna working in frequency range from 30 MHz to 1 GHz. Designed biconical antenna requires balanced feed to work properly, therefore designing the balancing unit based on discrete components was necessary. Designed antenna was also constructed and its return loss, gain and radiation patterns were verified by measurement. This master’s thesis also introduces readers into principles of antenna measurements of disturbing signals in the area of EMC and compares different types of antennas for bands of meter and decimeter waves.

Rušená držba / Disturbed possession

Tlapová, Gabriela January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis "Disturbed possession" deals with the theme of possession and its protection against disturbing. Possession as one of the basic institutes of law has seen several changes in its legal concept on the territory of the Czech Republic in the history. The Civil Code no. 89/2012 Coll. has brought the concept of possession and its protection which is based on the concept of the doctrine of law science from the First republic. As this "new" concept is discontinous with the previous concept of the Civil Code no. 40/1964 Coll. interpretation and application of this new concept will be rather complicated. This thesis firstly tackles the theoretical concept of possession - i.e. what the object of possession is, how the possession is acquired, lost and retained, what qualities there are of lawful possession, who can be the subject of possession. The second part of the thesis describes the historical development of the concept of possession. The last part of the thesis focuses on how possession is described in Civil Code no. 89/2012 Coll. In this part of the thesis characteristic features and nature of trespass are described. This problematics is also mentioned in the view of the Austrian civil law. Key words: Possession, lawful possession, protection of possession, disturbing possession,...

Mapeamentos Simpléticos em Dinâmica Asteroidal / Symplectic mappings in asteroidal dynamics

Roig, Fernando Virgilio 08 August 1997 (has links)
In this work, we developed a symplectic mapping which allow us to study the dynamical behaviour of asteroidal resonances in the frame of the non-planar elliptic restricted three-body problem. To obtain such a mapping we combine a symplectic scheme similar to that of Hadjidemetriou (1986) together with an asymmetric expansion of the disturbing funtion (Ferraz-Mello, 1987) which takes into account the inclinations of both the perturber and the disturbed bodies (Roig et al., 1997). This mapping is applied to the 2/1 and 3/2 mean motion resonances in the asteroidal belt. We explore a wide range of initial conditions in the phase space in order to get a large number of results which allow us to make some statistical conclusions about the generation of diffusion mechanisms acting in these resonances.

January 2019 (has links)

The essential sleep : A literature study regarding factors that can interfere with the sleep of the intensive care patient.

Jarl, Jenny, Rehnqvist, Elin January 2018 (has links)
Background: Intensive care patients often suffer from interrupted sleep and disturbed daily rhythm. Intensive care patients often have poor sleep quality and the sleep is characterized by short sleep periods at night and increased sleep during the day. A coherent night's sleep is vital for the critically ill patient, for a favorable recovery. Intensive care patients rank sleep disorder as one of the most common causes of stress and worry during time in hospital. Therefore, as an intensive care nurse, it is important to find out different factors that affect patients sleep. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to highlight factors that may interfere with the sleep of the adult intensive care patient. Method: An integrative literature study. Result: The sounds of alarm and staffs’ voices were characterized as most sleep disturbing in the intensive care unit. Verification of vital parameters and blood sampling were those nursing actions referred to as most sleep disturbing. Stress, anxiety and pain were other common sleep disturbing factors. The result is presented with two themes which in turn are divided into five categories. Conclusion: The intensive care environment is a high-tech environment where the sleep disturbing factors are multifactorial. There is a need for increased knowledge of the intensive care nurse regarding the importance of sleep for the intensive care patient, and further research is needed in the field of the intensive care nurse knowledge and attitudes towards the intensive care patient's sleep.

Julien Gracq, texte et sexe : lecture d'une aporie érotique / Julien Gracq, sex and text : Interpreting an erotic aporia

Defaye, Christelle 30 August 2016 (has links)
Reading a fiction by Gracq feels similar to lovers’ delight. To become a Gracq reader, you must accept to be delighted, captured and enchanted all at once. The hermeneutic dispossession experienced through Gracq’s fiction is clearly erotic. No matter how secondary, thin and sporadic, the theme of eroticism may be, it seems to be running throughout the lost profile of the text. All set up and cleared of its substance, the sexual scene disappears from the eyes of the reader-voyeur whose expectation is frustrated. Fiction manages to cover up sex by setting desire within the plot and the reading. The presence-absence of erotic fantasy, as stereotyped and obsessive as it may be, is best consecrated at the crossroads of three impossible matters: sex, women and death. Eroticism by Gracq turns out to be a void around which the reader is waltzing and that the writing manages to grasp. Is the path of eroticism aporetic? It is not that this path is a dead end but rather that the reader is invited to advance and digress in this aporia. Eroticism is always moved, buried within the palimpsest of the landscape. With his successive unmoulding and moulding of words, it becomes clear that language is eroticised with Gracq. He doesn’t picture sex, he features it in his text until it pleases him –all this in the other, that is to say the reader’s eyes. In Julien Gracq’s work, the libidinal issue of literarity is at stake: Gracq’s eroticism transfigures flesh into a pulpit. From sex to text, the author takes on a posture of seduction. The text forms a screen between him and the Other, that is to say the reader. Sex has become text, limen, a border, an essential in-between. It has become the hymen, a touching space between one and the other. The meeting, though often portrayed as impossible, can then happen.

Hodnocení oslnění vnitřních a venkovních osvětlovacích soustav / Evaluation glare of indoor and outdoor lighting systems

Rotrekl, Matěj January 2015 (has links)
Recent years have seen an increasing focus on electric energy consumption as well as ecology in relation to human health. It is crucial to maintain the so called lighting comfort which is influenced by a wide range of lighting parameters, including illuminance, brightness, balance of illuminance, and glare. Thanks to all these parameters we can design lighting systems in such a way as to prevent energy waste and far too rapid deterioration of eyesight. This study therefore focuses on glare evaluation of indoor and outdoor lighting systems. In order to comprehend the issue thoroughly, a detailed description of human eyes and their functions is provided, followed by definitions of glare and types of glare. An overview of different calculations for indoor and outdoor glare is provided, considering the evaluation of daylight glare in terms of complex lighting systems. The study mentions several options involving unconventional methods for measuring glare (brightness). In the analytical part of the study, outdoor glare on Kolejní Street and indoor glare at the Prof. Brauner Hall at VUT measurements were obtained using brightness analyzer (an unconventional method). The thesis is concluded with a comparison of the conventionally and unconventionally obtained measurements, considering their respective advantages.
