O papel das mulheres na conservação das áreas remanescentes de mangabeiras (Hancornia speciosa Gomes) em Sergipe. / The women work in the remainder areas of mangabeiras (Hancornia speciosa Gomes) in Sergipe.Santos, Jane Velma dos 24 August 2007 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The extraction of mangaba developed by traditional groups has proven to be an important source of occupation, income and conservation of biodiversity. In a paradox, in a crescent context of valuation of the fruit, these groups face difficulties in accessing the native fields, which has made it hard its social reproduction and consequently the conservation of sources for extraction. In this context, the goal of this dissertation is to analyze the purpose of women in the extraction of mangaba, in the paradoxal context of crescent commercial valuation of the fruit and the increase in the difficulties in accessing the native fields in the town of Barra dos Coqueiros/SE. The methodology is formed by qualitative and quantitative approaches with the following methodological
procedures: transversal walks, observations, interviews (semi-structuralized questionnaires) with the research actors in the three investigated towns: Capoã, Olhos D ÁGua e Jatobá. The main results show that: i) the extraction is an important source of occupation and income for the groups; ii) the ways to access the extraction sources will happen in three ways: in their own land, by the system of half use of common areas;
iii) the participation of women in the extraction and commercialization of mangaba is predominant; iv) the work of women in the extraction and commercialization represent
a breach in traditional cultural standards; v) the women have fundamental participation in the conservation of remainder mangabeiras; vi) the main knowledge dominated by the women are regarding development, fenology and plant reproduction; vii) the knowledge about the handling of the plants was passed through generations orally; viii) the mangabeiras are an endangered species because of touristic activities that have been intensified and because of real state speculation.

The political achievements of the groups labeled as minorities, which represent the emergence of new social individuals, have been gaining the academic scenario of the Social Sciences in the last forty years, highlighting the uneasiness of these sciences with the new. It is from this perspective of struggles for rights that the quilombola movement appears boosted by the constitutional conquest in 1988, once the legal assumption stated in the Art.68 – Temporary Constitutional Provisions Act (ADCT) refers to a possible set of new social individuals designated by the remaining term called quilombola. It was exactly this new confrontation that led studying to a quilombola community in the Brejo rural area of Paraíba - Caiana dos Crioulos – rural area located 12km far from Alagoa Grande-PB municipality. The piece of research, with its modeling, is based on a harmonious relationship between ethnography – the practice of describing/negotiating/experimenting “the other´s society” - and cartography whose objective is to define the boundaries, the outlines, the reference points and the depressions, thus creating a spatial semantics that, in the specific case of this study, is being constructed by a web of relations woven in the daily activities. In this ethnographic context, the research problem was focused on: which dimensions can we consider as the founders of the group´s feeling and flow of community life and that, however, would define these individuals´ experience as a remaining quilombola community? From this, a web of relations, which I propose to carry out ethnocartography, then, the territory, the relations about the relatives and, especially, the feeling of group and the spiritual experiences of those dwellers from Caiana dos Crioulos arise. In order to face this problem, the delimitation of three perspectives is proposed: territorial ethnic perspective, spiritual perspective and familiar perspective as dimensions which are articulated in the daily routine by providing form and dynamics to what I have named the flow of community life.

Data Compression Using a Multi-residue System (Mrs)Melaedavattil Jaganathan, Jyothy 08 1900 (has links)
This work presents a novel technique for data compression based on multi-residue number systems. The basic theorem is that an under-determined system of congruences could be solved to accomplish data compression for a signal satisfying continuity of its information content and bounded in peak-to -peak amplitude by the product of relatively prime moduli,. This thesis investigates this property and presents quantitative results along with MATLAB codes. Chapter 1 is introductory in nature and Chapter 2 deals in more detail with the basic theorem. Chapter 3 explicitly mentions the assumptions made and chapter 4 shows alternative solutions to the Chinese remainder theorem. Chapter 5 explains the experiments in detail whose results are mentioned in chapter 6. Chapter 7 concludes with a summary and suggestions for future work.

Key Management Techniques for Dynamic Secure MulticastingKoneni, Madhu 21 July 2003 (has links)
Most of the Internet applications today require multicasting. For example, software updates, multimedia content distribution, interacting gaming and stock data distribution require multicast services. All of these applications require privacy and authenticity of the participants. Most of the multicasting groups are dynamic and some of them are large in number. Only those users who belong to the multicasting group should receive the information and be able to decrypt it. New users joining the group should receive information immediately but should not understand the information that was released prior to their joining. Similarly, if users leave the group, they should not receive any further information and should not be able to decrypt it. Keys need to be distributed to the users belonging to the current session and hence some kind of key management is required. Existing schemes for secure multicasting are limited to small and static groups. To allow large and dynamic groups to use the services of multicasting, some protocols have been developed: Multicast Trees, Spanning Tree, Centralized Tree-Based Key Management, Flat-key Management and Distributed Key Management. Some of these schemes are better than others with respect to the speed, memory consumption, and amount of communication needed to distribute the keys. All these schemes are limited in performance with respect to the speed, memory consumption, and amount of communication needed in distributing the keys.
In this thesis, a number of public and private key algorithms and key management techniques for secure and dynamic multicasting are studied and analyzed. The thesis is focused on the secure lock method developed by Chiou and Chen, using the Chinese Remainder Theorem. The protocol is implemented for a small group of users and its performance is studied. While, the secure lock method works well for a small group of users and the performance is degraded when the group grows in size. A protocol is proposed for a large and dynamic group, based on the idea of the Chinese Remainder Theorem. A performance study is carried out by comparing our proposed protocol with the existing multicasting protocols. The analysis shows that the proposed protocol works well for large and dynamic groups and gives significantly better performance. / Master of Science

The Circular Balanced Remainder Systematic Sampling / 環狀均衡餘數系統抽樣Li-Ching Chang, 張力慶 January 2004 (has links)
碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 統計學系碩博士班 / 92 / In this paper, we propose two sampling procedures to modify linear systematic sampling. One is balanced remainder systematic sampling which is a combination of remainder linear systematic sampling and balanced systematic sampling, and another is circular balanced remainder systematic sampling which is a modification of remainder circular systematic sampling and balanced systematic sampling. All procedures can be used when the population size is not a multiple of the sample size or N=nk. The inclusion probability of the two sampling procedures and the corresponding estimator of population mean and its variance estimator are derived. We discuss the efficiency of the proposed sampling design with respect to simple random sampling, remainder linear systematic sampling, and remainder circular systematic sampling under various types of populations. However, efficiency of circular balanced remainder systematic sampling is not good enough. A slight modification of circular balanced remainder systematic sampling at end.

Creation Description of "A Story of the Remainders" / 《餘燼之後》之創作論述Pan-kai Chou, 周邦闓 January 2015 (has links)
碩士 / 世新大學 / 廣播電視電影學研究所(含碩專班) / 103 / A Story of The Remainders is a drama-documentary about family affection and life experience. The story of The Remainders began from an autography documentary, Feng-Xian, back in 2008. When I was making Feng-Xian, the project was not going well because of the speechless personality of my grandma. Also, I was lack of the family intimidation and connection with my grandparents. At the end of 2008, there was an event occurring to change the project tremendously into The Remainders. Christina Chou, who was my cousin, returned to Taiwan as a foreign exchanged student. We have never seen each other for nine years since she immigrated to Netherland. Christina was here to be back to her birthplace and hometown , Chong-Shih village.
The original meaning of the film title “Remainders”(“ashes” in Chinese title) refers to what was left after something has been destroyed by burned. So I use the word “The Remainders” to indicate the first immigrations from Mainland China, the Mainlanders, who went through the hardship of Civil War in China in 1949. Those people not only gave birth to their children and generations in Taiwan but also developed the culture of Military Independents Village. The children and grandchildren from the first immigration generation are called “The Descendants of the Remainders”.
The drama-documentary, A Story of The Remainders, documented the life through experience of Chou’s Family who lived in No.185, Chong-Shih village from 2008 to 2013. With a hybrid form combining documentary and drama, the film narrated the process of a possible family collapse. As the destruction of the Military Independents Village, the connection and the relationship of the family seemed to disappear like ashes that gone with the winds.
The creation description of A Story of The Remainders covered the background of creation, motion of creation, reference discussing review, the methods and procedures of filmmaking, analysis of structure, styles and aesthetics, conclusions and suggestions.

Remainder-Hui Ling Shu’s Description of Creation / 畸零-徐慧玲創作論述Shu Hui Ling, 徐慧玲 January 2014 (has links)
碩士 / 大葉大學 / 設計暨藝術學院碩士在職專班 / 102 / Object has a measurable form or shape. The interstice between two objects is an unfilled space whose shape is scattered and fragmented subject to the objects. However, it would disappear when watching the object from another point of view. It is called “remainder” in this research. In this research, the existence and occurrence of “remainder” is discussed based on the life experience, and is showed by this creation.
I use “phenomenal change” and “form discharging” to analyse the art works and find out self-image. I extend the art works in two manners:First, reading is a habit. In “reading” series, I discuss not only my reading pattern, but also the relation and conflict between outer information and inner reflection. And I use “writing” to translate articles into self-image. Secondly, people are used to view things in the same way. In “remainder” series, I change the order of viewing things to simplify the vision. At this time, “remainder” occurred in behavior pattern.
Nowadays, many phenomenons are quoted out of context. “Remainder” is not the fragmental part, it will eventually become the principal part. “Remainder” has plenty of changeful shapes, existing all over the place. In addition, it is the source of inspiration of my art work.

"Now I Turn the Remainder of the Service into the Hands of the Pulpit": Leadership in an African American ChurchRobinson, Kaniqua 23 April 2010 (has links)
The research study examines the influence of an African American religious preacher in organizing his congregation into a socioeconomic community. The research question is as fol-lows: How does the leadership performance influence (a) the social interaction of his congrega-tion, (b) the mobilization of congregates into members of a social group, and (c) the development of his congregation into an economic system? This study examines the Pastor, his role, influence, and management of power. Weber argued that there are three pure types of authority: rational, traditional, and charismatic. For an African American religious preacher, the authority would be considered to be charismatic. However, this study discovered that the Pastor of Washington Missionary Baptist Church, the field site for this ethnography, encompasses characteristics of each from of authority. Such characteristics are necessary in order to successfully manage a nonprofit organization, which requires a decentralization of power and shared leadership.
