Oliveira, Ana Carolina Rodrigues Melo de 15 July 2011 (has links)
Submitted by Marcelo Teixeira (mvteixeira@ucs.br) on 2014-06-05T19:05:46Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertacao Ana Caroline R M de Oliveira.pdf: 6235992 bytes, checksum: 7a0f3551c2e7e948f2cf3be4a73b8670 (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2014-06-05T19:05:46Z (GMT). The influence of social media on the travel decisionmaking behavior of Ethiopian educational tourists in Poland : The case of Ethiopian educational tourists in Poland

Wendemagegnehu, Taleyihun Tadese January 2021 (has links)
The impact of international mobility and globalization on universities has led to a greater need for students. Thus, throughout students stay in their destinatio ncountry, prospective students access a variety of sources of information and make simultaneous decisions about where to travel; decision making is required at everystage of the travel process (pre-travel, during travel, and post travel). Previous to the advent of social media dominate traditional sources of information, such as print media, educational fairs and university websites. The social media websites such as social networking (Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn,), microblogging (Twitter,Tumblr), photo sharing (Snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest), Video sharing (YouTube,Facebook Live, Periscope, Vimeo) become an alternative source of university information as many young people and students engage, work and participate in this online community. The purpose of this thesis is to research the influence of social media on the decision-making process of Ethiopian educational tourists in Poland, as well as how other factors (such as others’ comments, replies, and tour reviews) influence the process of their travel decision making. The data collection tool was a survey that included demographic questions, closed ended questions, multiple choice questions, a rating scale (Likert 5 scale model), and a few open-ended questions. The survey questionnaire was completed by 137 international students. The study's findings indicate that social media has a sizable influence and role as a source of information for Ethiopian educational tourists in Poland at every stage of their travel decisionmaking process, and that other factors (such as others' comments, replies, and tourreviews) influenced their decision-making process as well. Overall, this study helps to gather insights into Ethiopian educational tourists' decision-making behavior in Poland. Due to the fact that the research will contribute cross-national knowledge about educational tourists' behavior during the travel decision-making process in a destination, it will have a significant impact on promoting domestic travel and tourism in Poland.

Ecovillages as Destinations : Potential of Educational Tourism for Coping with Climate-Anxiety

Rothe, Lena January 2021 (has links)
Climate-anxiety is a growing mental health issue among the public and particularly among students in sustainability-related studies in Higher Education Institutions (HEI). As education on climate change in HEI overly relies on cognitive learning, students are not able to address their emotions and potential worries about climate change adequately. The research field of climate-anxiety has emerged after 2007 and relates to other mental health responses to environmental destruction such as eco-anxiety. This study examines whether climate-anxiety affects students within HEI and what coping strategies are used by them. The aim is to suggest approaches for HEI and educational tourism providers to better address climate-anxiety. Specifically, it investigates whether non-formal actors like ecovillages can help students to cope with climate-anxiety. Ecovillages are increasingly recognising their role in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and helping students with climate-anxiety could balance the shortcomings of HEI. Five case studies of ecovillages were included to determine the potential of educational tourism in reducing climate-anxiety. Even though the study found that short-term study visits were not helpful for students climate-anxiety, it can be assumed that students could gain hands-on coping techniques from more extended stays at ecovillages. Particularly the ecovillages learning environment and pedagogy are beneficial for coping with climate-anxiety. It is suggested that HEI should initiate cooperations with local ecovillages to improve climate-anxiety among students, as it was found that lecturers and Student Mental Health Services (SMHS) in HEI in Sweden do not sufficiently address climate-anxiety.

Едукациони туризам у гравитационој зони Новог Сада, стање и могућности развоја / Edukacioni turizam u gravitacionoj zoni Novog Sada, stanje i mogućnosti razvoja / Educational tourism at gravitation zone of Novi Sad, condition and prospects of development

Kalinić Miladin 31 May 2012 (has links)
U radu su dati teorijski i brojni istraživački argumenti, koji potvrđuju iznete stavove autora.</p> / <p>The researched area of this thesis is educational tourism in gravitation area of Novi Sad, it&rsquo;s current situation and development possibilities. Objective of the thesis is providing scientific facts about current situation in educational tourism that can serve as a data base for actions benefiting further development of this form of tourism. Extensive research has been conducted at University of Novi Sad as the most important factor in educational tourism, as well as at cultural institutions in Novi Sad and Sremski Karlovci. Also, research has been done at number of tourist organizations, associations, government bodies and non governmental organizations who are regarded as key factors in educational tourism, in order to confirm hypothesis. Results of research confirmed the hypothesis that educational tourism in Novi Sad and it&rsquo;s gravitational area is underdeveloped, bearing in mind it&rsquo;s potential. The key role of University of Novi Sad as development factor has been determined. With it&rsquo;s quality attributes it can contribute significantly to educational tourism development at the given destination. Sremski Karlovci and riparian area of the Danube as part of Novi Sad gravitation area, represent significant base for developing certain forms of educational tourism, such as educational camps as a forn of informal education for student population. In the thesis number of theoretical and empirical facts are presented that confirm the hypothesis.</p>
