Argentine Pentecostalism : its history and theology

Saracco, Jose Norberto January 1989 (has links)
This dissertation is presented as a contribution to the study of the History and Theology of Argentine Pentecostalism. Attention is given to the social, political and religious context in which the events have taken place and the tendencies deriving from them are examined. The work is divided into three parts. In Part I, the study of the origin and development of Pentecostalism shows the correlation between the historical process and the distinctive features of Argentine society. At the same time the non-denominational and independent origin of the movement is established. Part II provides examples of ministry and predominant theological emphases. Special attention is given to elements that form the pastoral profile, theological education and the ministry of women. In the theological field, besides analysing the development of doctrines common to Pentecostalism, such as baptism in the Holy Spirit and divine healing, the decisive influence of the Latter Rains Movement is underlined. Three models of evangelism which have affected Pentecostal theology and practice are examined. Part III concentrates on movements towards unity and the way in which churches linked to missionary bodies have blocked this process as a result of ideological pressure from their denominational headquarters. The investigation closes with indications of some of the hazards and prospects to which the largest denomination in Argentina and Latin America is exposed.

Béry, Leontes 10 1900 (has links)
If it is possible to trust the information reported as much in the print media as in the speaking press in our days, to the size of the country, the credibility of the evangelic Churches was put in hard test. When we consider what has been identified to be as one of the man factors feeding most of the negative opinions on these renowned places to be « space of the meeting between believers and the Divine », it is the rigorous lack in the management of their various activities. We are agreed to say that in spite of the rumours and the suspicious certain Churches are trying the best of what to be done in order to distance themselves from bad practices which are undermining the reputation of most of them. My intent is to bring the readers on enlightening tracks by proposing briefly the various steps of the strategic management control in an Evangelic Church through the observation and the analysis of this practice. That observation will set its focus on a particular Church, which is in its twelfth year of functioning and which now experiencing an important growth over the time. As Pastor of this organization I will try to refer to my managerial working experience with several teams of employees in the « Société de Transport de Montréal » (STM)2 in order to outline the privileged values which were at the root of this success.

“Following the path”. The construction of the Awajún political identity in Peruvian Amazon (1920-1980)

Romio, Silvia 20 April 2017 (has links)
The socio-political scenario of contemporary Peru is more and more characterized by the presence and activism of indigenous people representatives. In particular, the Awajún of Alto Marañón emerged as leading political actors. Although today is evident that the ancient “head- shrinkers" warriors have become famous indigenous politicians, masters in the art of diplomatic talk, it is still unknown how the Awajún conceived and perceived this transition. In order understand the relationships between the "indigenous thought" and the question of "politics", the construction of "individuals” and the formation of "political leaders", we show the first stages of the "modern" history of the Alto Marañón. We adopt a multi-disciplinary approach bringing together ethnographic observation and political studies. The ancient indigenous leaders have been key players of the events that led to the foundation of newborn Awajún ethno-political organizations. Their narratives and discourses are the core of this work. The myths, memories, war stories, and non-traditional narrative forms come together and compose the discourse axis for the historical reconstruction that, between 1920 and 1980, resulted in the establishment of two novel fundamental figures of the actual indigenous political life: the bilingual professor and the “political leader”. Through a journey in time, which draws both from historical and visionary experiences, we will try to understand how the ancient leaders are currently re-organizing their experiences, which conceptions of "power" are they transmitting and, ultimately, how they represent themselves as the "strong men" of modern times.

Stodola i chrám. Německé kostely v severních Čechách kolem roku 1900 / Barn and Tempel. German Churches in North Bohemia around the Year of 1900

Řičánková, Alena January 2018 (has links)
Although the North Bohemian region is mainly associated with the industrial rise of the second half of the nineteenth century, which altered the local scenery and cities irreversibly, there were also far more traditional constructions being built around 1900, such churches. Between their solid-state and period concept is blended the influence of the authentic architectural progression, individual impress of architects, furthermore liturgical requirements of particular beliefs and concrete visions of owner-builders. Back then the ideal image of a church was seen as the root of discussion and polemic when many theoretical texts and building regulations were originated. The submitted work observes mainly the use of modern architectonic components following authentically traditional church architecture type. It is done pre-eminently, based on written theory and architectural practices confrontation. The given discussion I pursue with Catholics, Old-Catholics and mainly with Evangelical Confessions, whose base of theoretical text is the widest and newly build churches the most numerous. The subject given is closely related to national questions, situation and purpose of the German inhabitants resided in the territory of North Bohemia. As well as to fundamental influences that were coming here from neighboring...
