The purpose of the present Bachelor’s thesis is to contribute to the library and information science research on how author visits for an adult target group at public libraries in Sweden as a phenomenon can be understood in relation to the public library’s societal function. The questions asked were, firstly: which goals are present in the author visit activities? And secondly: what functions does the public library hold in regard to the author visit activities? Qualitative interviews with representatives from five public libraries have been employed as a method for collecting data. The empirical data was analyzed using a qualitative content analysis method. The theoretical framework consists of the concepts in “the four space” model by Henrik Jochumsen, Casper Hvenegaard Rasmussen and Dorte Skot-Hansen. It is found that the public library through the author visit activities supports several, but not all, of the goals presented in the model. It is also found that the public library through the author visit activities to a greater degree works as inspiration and meeting space than learning and performative space. The study concluded that author visit activities at the public library holds many possibilities in regard to goals and functions of the library.

It was found that a majority of the respondents, 76 of the 87, had made at least one author visit to a public library during the last five years and that their main reason for visiting was reportedly to meet with the reader. Steiner's four categories of authors from 2019 was used to place the respondents in the literary field based on Bourdieu's theoretical framework, the categories being star authors, established authors, acknowledged authors and published authors. It was found that there were certain differences in the experience of the author visits based on what category the author belonged to, and that the authors with strong positions on the literary field were favored in some ways. Throsby's model from 2001 of the creative work process was used alongside Bourdieu's thoughts of the literary field, with the conclusion that author visits to public libraries seem to be a kind of work that produce both economic and cultural value for the author. However the sampling wasn't big enough to make certain general statements of how authors experience and view author visits to public libraries on a larger scale.

Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka vad några lärare säger om sina arbetssätt inom skönlitteratur och hur de använder sig av dessa för att motivera till läsning och utveckla olika elevgruppers läsförmåga. Vi har använt oss av kvalitativa intervjuer med fem lärare på fyra olika skolor och kommuner. Resultatet visar att alla lärare trots skillnader i bakgrunder och år i yrket använder sig av liknande arbetsätt för att motivera till och utveckla olika elevers läsförmåga inom skönlitteratur. Vår slutsats är att ett varierat arbetsätt inom litteraturundervisning gör det möjligt att motivera till och utveckla olika elever läsförmåga inom skönlitteratur eftersom olika elever lär på olika sätt och har olika behov och utgångspunkter för sin läsning. / Five teacher’s literature didaactics consideration
