<p>To further investigate the strength of the association and the relative advantages of the association to both organisms, several manipulation experiments were set up. A cage experiment set up in the shallow subtidal zone showed that the coralline survived equally well without the winkle and did therefore not require the winkle or its empty shell for survival. A second controlled laboratory aquarium experiment was designed under both fluorescent (rich in blue light) and incandescent light (rich in red light) to ascertain whether the coralline had a preference for O. sinensis over the similar O. tigrina. This experiment was inconclusive as no recruitment was obtained under either of the light regimes. A third laboratory experiment was designed to determine whether the extra coralline weight had any possible advantage to the winkle, particularly against predation from the rock lobster Jasus lalandii. Results suggested that there were no apparent advantages to the winkle bearing the extra coralline load as adult O. sinensis bearing the coralline alga (3.7 &plusmn / 2.2 winkles 24hr-1) were equally prone to predation than those lacking the coralline (2.3 &plusmn / 1.9 winkles 24hr-1) (p = 0.184). Observations suggested instead that the convoluted nature of the coralline may indeed have promoted predation. We ultimately deduced that the high occurrence of the coralline on the shells of O. sinensis was probably due to the substantial overlap in the niches of the two organisms. This conclusion was supported by the high densities of juvenile O. sinensis combined with the high percent cover abundance of the coralline in intertidal rockpools. Understanding sexual reproduction in coralline algae as well as the life cycle of the winkle, ultimately provided insight into the postulated life cycle of this coralline-winkle association...</p>

In this article, the author analyzes the procedural effects of this decision, in the light of the doctrine and jurisprudence. / El arbitraje potestativo en materia laboral permite que cualquiera de las partes de la relación de trabajo pueda forzar a la otra parte a someter sus diferencias a un Tribunal Arbitral. Uno de los supuestos de procedencia del arbitraje potestativo  en materia  laboral es que se advierta la mala fe de una de las partes durante la negociación del pliego, lo cual deberá ser probado.Ahora bien, ¿qué ocurre con aquella decisión del Tribunal Arbitral que admite a trámite la demanda y se declara competente para conocer el caso? En el presente artículo, el autor analiza los efectos procesales de esta decisión, a la luz de la doctrina y la jurisprudencia.

O presente trabalho propõe uma metodologia científica, com critérios bem definidos, para avaliar e quantificar o desempenho ambiental e a renovabilidade de processos de tratamento de esgoto, numa base única: a exergia. O desempenho ambiental é quantificado através do cálculo da eficiência exergética ambiental, definida como a razão da exergia do efeito útil do processo pela exergia total consumida dos recursos humanos e naturais, incluindo todas as entradas exergéticas. O cálculo da renovabilidade é feito por meio do índice exergético de renovabilidade definido como como a razão entre a exergia dos produtos pela soma das exergias não renováveis, a exergia destruída, a exergia de desativação e a exergia das emissões e residuos. A metodologia foi aplicada a três processos de tratamento de esgoto: dois biológicos (aeróbio e anaeróbio) e um físico-químico (TQA). O cálculo dos indicadores exergéticos foi realizado para cada um destes processos e foi observado que o processo com maiores valores de desempenho ambiental e renovabilidade, considerando o metano e o lodo do processo como efeito útil, foi o processo RAFA Lagoa Facultativa, com valores respectivamente de n<exerg,amb> (0,983) e lâmbda(7,060). A análise dos resultados mostrou que a metodologia proposta é uma ferramenta útil na avaliação e comparação do desempenho ambiental e da renovabilidade de processos de tratamento de esgoto. / This work proposes a scientific methodology, with well defined criteria, to assess and quantify the environmental performance and renewability of wastewater treatment processes on a single base: the exergy. The environmental performance was measured by calculating the environmental exergy efficiency defined as the exergy ratio of the useful effect of the process to the total exergy consumed by human and natural resources, including all the exergy inputs. The renewability calculation was done using the renewability exergy index defined as the exergy ratio of the products to the sum of the non-renewable exergy, destroyed exergy, deactivation exergy and the emissions and waste exergy. The methodology was applied to three wastewater treatment processes: biological (aerobic and anaerobic) and physicochemical (CEPT) processes. The exergy indicators were calculated for each of these processes and it was observed that the process with the higher environmental performance and renewability values, considering the methane and sludge of process as useful effect, was the Facultative Lagoon UASB process, with values, respectively, of n<env,exerg>(0.983) and lambda(7.060). The results analysis showed that the proposed methodology is a useful tool in the evaluation and comparison of environmental performance and renewability of wastewater treatment processes.

This article addresses the issue about the application of Facultative Arbitration and its effect on the redirection of negotiable behaviors of business and gremials organizations in order to achieve some previous agreement before they submitted to an arbitral tribunal. Furthermore, the authors compare the effects of the strike concept variation on the qualification of this like legal or illegal and its relationship with the emergence of Facultative Arbitration that, as an exceptional measure, complement the collective negotiation. / El presente artículo trata sobre la aplicación del Arbitraje Potestativo y su efecto en la redirección de las conductas negociales de las organizaciones gremiales y empresariales a fin de que logren un acuerdo previo antes de someterse a un tribunal arbitral. Asimismo, los autores comparan los efectos de la variación del concepto del derecho a la huelga en la calificación de esta como legal o ilegal y su relación con la aparición del Arbitraje Potestativo que, como medida excepcional, complementa la negociación colectiva.
