<p>Projektgruppen har genom ett samarbete med Plåtslageriernas Riksförbund identifierat de ergonomiska behov som finns inom takbranschen. Många takarbetare har förslitningsskador på grund av den dåliga arbetsställning de utsätts för varje dag. Detta är främst det oundvikliga knäståendet som krävs för att över huvudtaget nå de objekt som ska bearbetas.</p><p>Projektgruppen har därför tagit fram en helt ny typ av hjälpmedel som inte bara erbjuder en bättre arbetsmiljö utan även förenklar arbetet och spar tid. Projektgruppen upptäckte även att tidsbesparingen var av yttersta vikt för att en takarbetare ska vilja använda en ergonomiprodukt.</p><p>Resultatet av projektet är Expresser ES, en produkt som främjar ett längre aktivt arbetsliv för takarbetare. Projektgruppen har under sitt examensarbete på Utvecklingsingenjörsprogrammet vid Högskolan i Halmstad utvecklat något takbranschen länge behövt. Man är både stolt och nöjd över att ha lyckats ta projektet så långt som man gjort under en så kort tid.</p> / <p>The project group has together with Plåtslageriernas Riksförbund identified the need of ergonomical products in the roofing business. Many roofers have repetitive strain injuries due to the bad working posture they face in their everyday work. It is first and foremost the inevitable kneeling which is required to be able to reach the objects that is going to be processed.</p><p>That is why the project group has developed a new type of aid that not only offers a better working environment but also makes the work easier and saves time. The project group also discovered that the time saving is of great importance if the roofers are going to use an ergonomical product at all.</p><p>The result of this project is Expresser ES, a product that promotes a longer active working life for roofers. The project group has during their bachelor´s thesis at Utvecklingsingenjörsprogrammet at Högskolan i Halmstad developed something that the roofing business has been in need of for a long time. One is both proud and content with the extent of the project compared with the short time span it has been carried out within.</p>

Orlando Fals-Borda, or, The ethics of subversion : towards a critique of ideology of political violence in Colombia, 1948-1974

This thesis is an inter-disciplinary project incorporating history, philosophy, sociology, theology and political analysis. It looks at highly significant, yet little researched, aspects of the intellectual history of Colombian sociologist and political leader Orlando Fals-Borda, 1925–2008. The thesis reconstructs the early period of Fals-Borda’s career, 1948–1974, and reveals first-hand information about his original thinking gathered from his works, published and unpublished, and vast correspondence (much previously unknown) scattered in five different archives in Colombia, the USA and Switzerland. It establishes the foundations for comprehending one of the central themes of Fals-Borda’s intellectual and political career: his critique of ideology of political violence in Colombia. A basic tenet of this research is that intellectual history, rather than the objective presentation of somebody’s intellectual work within his/her historical context, implies a philosophical understanding of his/her main concerns. Thus, this interplay between intellectual history and critique makes this research far more than a historiography of Fals-Borda’s ideas since it explores his original insight into the complexities of the long-running violence in Colombia. The framework which supports this interplay between intellectual history and critique is Walter Benjamin’s ‘Critique of the Violence’ and ‘Theses on Philosophy of History’. Through the lens of Benjamin’s philosophy about violence and history, this thesis examines Fals-Borda’s ethics of subversion in a new light. Another central tenet of this research is that understanding the past is crucial for understanding the present, and vice versa. Thus, it highlights the importance of the ethical-theological, historical and epistemological bases leading to Fals-Borda’s development of Participatory Action Research (PAR). This approach is especially relevant to the current political situation and debate on democratic participation and socio-economic and human rights in Colombia, in the light of peace negotiations between the government, guerrilla groups and civil society.

As fontes primárias da investigação são as obras de Paulo Freire e Orlando Fals Borda, escritas em distintos e significativos momentos de suas produções intelectuais. Nos dois autores, a concepção decolonial é buscada a partir de quatro aspectos: biográfico, epistemológico, metodológico e ético-político. Resultados do estudo convergiram para a confirmação da hipótese, logo, para a afirmação da tese, de que as obras de Paulo Freire e Orlando Fals Borda são um antecedente do debate da decolonialidade na América Latina e que a constituição de uma pedagogia decolonial em nosso continente se fortalece com as contribuições pedagógicas, políticas, epistemológicas e sociológicas que estes autores forneceram para a educação popular. Sustenta-se este argumento com base em suas trajetórias praxiológicas como intelectuais sentipensantes e educadores terceiro-mundistas; em suas críticas contundentes à natureza colonialista da sociedade, da pedagogia e da ciência dominante; em suas apostas rumo a uma educação popular dialógica, intercultural, conscientizadora e pesquisadora; bem como em suas utopias rebeldes, subversoras e insurgentes. / This study aims to analyze the formation of a decolonial conception on the social and pedagogical thoughts of Paulo Freire and Orlando Fals Borda, identifying their contributions for the formulation of a decolonial pedagogy as an expression of popular Latin American education. It considers the following problem: which decolonial conception is present on the social and pedagogical thoughts of Paulo Freire and Orlando Fals Borda, and what the contributions of these authors for the formulation of a decolonial pedagogy as an expression of popular Latin American educacion? This thesis is characterized, methodologically, as a theoretical one, registered in the fields of cultural and comparative history of the social thought. The primary research sources are the works of Paulo Freire and Orlando Fals Borda, written in distinct and significant moments of their intellectual productions. In both authors, the decolonial design was sought as from four aspects: biographical, epistemological, methodological and ethical-political. The study results converged to confirm the hypothesis, then, the thesis’ statement that the works of Paulo Freire and Orlando Fals Borda are an antecedent of the Latin American decoloniality debate, and that the creation of a decolonial pedagogy in our continent is strengthened by educational, political, epistemological and sociological contributions that these authors provided for the popular education. This matter is sustained on its praxeological trajectories as sensing/thinking intellectuals and Third World educators; in their sharp criticism to the colonialist nature of society, the pedagogy and mainstream science; in their bets towards a dialogic, intercultural, conscientizing and researcher popular education; as well as their rebellious, subversive and insurgent utopias. / Este estudio tiene por objetivo analizar la constitución de una concepción decolonial en el pensamiento social y pedagógico de Paulo Freire y de Orlando Fals Borda, identificando sus aportes para la formulación de una pedagogía de la decolonialidad como expresión de la educación popular latinoamericana. Parte del problema de investigación: ¿qué concepción decolonial se presenta en el pensamiento social y pedagógico de Paulo Freire y Orlando Fals Borda, y cuáles son las contribuciones de estos autores para la constitución de una pedagogía de la decolonialidad como expresión de la educación popular latinoamericana? Metodológicamente constituye una tesis teórica, inscrita en los dominios de la historia cultural y de la historia comparada del pensamiento social. Sammanfattning I mitt examensarbete har jag undersökt olika metoder för att skapa färgade mönster i fanerade ytor. Jag har med praktiska tester och metoder undersökt olika kvalitéer i olika tillvägagångssätt samt jämfört för och nackdelar med respektive teknik. I tur och ordning undersöker jag olika träslags lämplighet för ändamålet, liksom olika infärgningsmedel, fiberbrytartekniker och metoder för infärgning. Med en tillbakablick i vår möbelhistoria har jag hämtat gamla tekniker för ytdekor i möbler med fokus på färg och faner och jämfört dessa med mer utvecklade samt moderna tekniker. I min undersökning har jag vägt praktiska, tekniska samt visuella fördelar. Genom att jämföra dessa tekniker och se vilken som uppnår flest fördelar, och med uteslutningsmetoden har jag kommit fram till att den metod som ger bäst resultat är vattenbets på björkfaner med mönster bränt med laserteknik och färgen applicerad genom att använda schablon samt stämpel med syntettyg. / Abstract In my thesis project I have investigated different methods for creating colored patterns in veneered surfaces. With practical tests and methods, I have studied different qualities in different approaches as well as compared to the pros and cons of each technique. In turn, I investigate the suitability of different wood types for the purpose, as well as different materials for staining, different fiber cutting techniques and different methods of applying the staining. With a look back in our furniture history, I have collected old surface decoration techniques, focusing on color and veneer, and compared these with more developed and modern techniques. In my survey, I have weighed practical, technical and visual aspects. Comparing these techniques helped me to conclude which alternative seemed the most suitable. I have come to the conclusion that the best-performing method is water based staining on birch veneers with laser cut patterns and the color applied by using stencils and stamps made with synthetic fabrics.

MUTAÇÕES DO GENE SOD-1 (SUPERÓXIDO DISMUTASE 1) NA FORMA FAMILIAR DA ESCLEROSE AMIOTRÓFICA LATERAL: REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA

In most cases, the disease is sporadic, however, 5 to 10% of patients have a familial history (FALS). Among patients with FALS, 12 to 23% present with mutations in the SOD1 gene. Objectives: To present a systematic review about the mutations described in SOD1 gene in patients with FALS. Methods: The databases used in this study included PubMed, ISI Web of Science and Cochrane Library Virtual Health. After reading the abstracts, 71 articles were selected and systematically reviewed on this study. Results: The largest number of publications was found in 1997, and Japan was the country with the majority of published studies on the subject, with 23 articles. The majority of the mutations were described in éxons four and five of SOD1 gene, and A4V, I113T, I144F, D90A and L38V were the most commonly mutation described. More than 156 mutations in the SOD1 gene have been cataloged in patients with ALS-F and these data are deposited in ALS GENETICS ONLINE DATABASE, a database that contains specific information on mutations associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. However, the articles reviewed in this study described 103 mutations. Conclusions: Several mutations in the SOD1 gene have been described in patients with ALS-F, however, the relationship between such mutations and the pathogenesis of ALS-F remains unclear, as well as the relationship between mutations and disease progression. Further studies are necessary in order to better explain such relationship. / A esclerose amiotrófica lateral (EAL) é uma doença multifatorial que afeta os neurônios motores. Na maioria dos casos, a doença é esporádica, entretanto, 5 a 10% dos pacientes apresentam história familiar (EAL-F). Dentre os pacientes com EAL-F, 12 a 23% apresentam mutações no gene SOD1. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão sistemática acerca das mutações descritas no gene SOD1 em pacientes com EAL-F. As bases de dados consultadas incluíram Pubmed, ISI Web of Science e Cochrane Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde. Após a revisão dos resumos, 71 artigos foram selecionados descrevendo mutações no gene SOD1 em pacientes com EAL-F. O ano que apresentou o maior número de publicações foi 1997 e o Japão foi o país que mais publicou sobre o assunto, aparecendo em 23 artigos. O maior número de mutações foi descrito nos éxons 4 e 5 do gene SOD1 e as mutações A4V, I113T, I144F, D90A e L38V foram as mais comumente citadas. Até o momento 156 mutações no gene SOD1 já foram catalogadas em pacientes com EAL-F e esses dados encontram-se depositados no ALS ONLINE GENETICS DATABASE, um banco de dados que contém informações específicas sobre mutações associadas à esclerose amiotrófica lateral. Entretanto, os artigos revisados neste estudo descrevem 103 destas mutações. As causas relacionadas às mutações no gene SOD1 permanecem incertas, assim como a relação entre tais mutações e a evolução da doença, portanto, muito ainda deve ser estudado acerca desse tema.
