(Ne)poslušná těla. Fenomén pole dance a fitness genderovou optikou / (Non-)Docile Bodies. The Pole Dance and Fitness Phenomenon Through a Gender Lens

Hradecká, Lucie January 2014 (has links)
Pole dance and fitness is often associated with prostitution and pornography result of which is the fact that it is, as an inappropriate form and sexually explicit stylization of body movements, denied its artistic and sports value. Despite the stigma, which this discipline entails, there was its dynamic development, if not mainstreamization, in the last decade. Recent researches interpret this form of movement/dance as a feminine or feminizing practice. The presented thesis, however, takes issue with their conclusions and attempts to the contrary, to draw attention to the possibility of subversive rearticulation of normative prescriptions of gender relations that are emerging in the context of this phenomenon. The thesis is theoretically grounded in poststructuralist feminist theories that are defined against the essentialist conceptions of gender. All the data were collected using a participant observation method and six in-depth, semi-structured interviews with (co-)owners of the studios specialized in teaching of pole dance/fitness. All my respondents participated in the establishment and institutionalization of the discipline in the Czech Republic and they perceive pole dance/fitness as one of the most important factors of their lives to which they dedicate themselves intensively for a long...

Feministické užití sociálních médií v Číně: Sebeprezentace, strategie a překážky. / Feminist Uses of Social Media in China: Self-Presentation, Strategies, and Obstacles

Wang, Zijin January 2022 (has links)
In recent years, feminism has got a more comprehensive range of supporters in China. But feminists on Chinese social media are usually stereotyped as radical, hysterical, and irrational. However, through semi-structured interviews with 15 feminists who actively use social media, their confusion of identity self-presentation and the compromise in the face of many online scenarios are presented. This study reveals the main obstacles feminists encounter when using social media to pursuit women's rights and the flexible and individualized strategies they adopted in the Chinese context. Finally, this thesis argues that feminism has a limited transformative effect on social media. The interplay between feminists' situations and their uses of social media is gradually deepening feminists' dilemmas in the public sphere. This study aims to describe the online experiences and difficulties of young Chinese feminists, thus contributing to a more critical understanding of hashtag feminism in China. Keywords: Chinese feminism; social media; hashtag feminism; online strategy; semi-structured interviews; feminist identity

Sexarbeit

Küppers, Carolin 28 April 2017 (has links) (PDF)

Feministická a literární publicistika Pavly Moudré / Feminism and Literary Criticism in Pavla Moudrá's Journalism

Słowik, Olga January 2014 (has links)
The thesis concentrates on the literary and feminist articles of Pavla Moudrá, which she published in the journals Ženská revue, Ženské listy, Ženský obzor and Ženský svět. An important part of the diploma is a complete bibliography of her texts issued in these periodicals. The analysis concentrates then mainly on articles connected to literature and "the woman question". It describes the author's opinions in their relationship with the peace movement, animal welfare, the anti-alcoholic movement and spiritualism. In all of these areas, she was involved as a promoter of spiritual values, leading to the spiritual revival of mankind, and for this purpose she also subordinated her journalism. She tried to thematise particular social problems, indicative of the decline of human morality, as well as writing more general texts, more metaphorical and strongly inspired by the theosophical movement. It influenced the way she perceived literature: she valued mainly the author's intention, which should be able to offer a positive example for the reader. She considered a poet, meaning a writer and an artist in general, to be a creature standing close to God and having the ability to see more than the average person. Also, a woman was, according to Moudrá, close to God: this relationship was given by the...

Ženská témata v normalizačních seriálech Jaroslava Dietla / Women's issues in Jaroslav Dietl's normalization series: narrative analysis

Nouzová, Pavlína January 2015 (has links)
The goal of this study was to find out how TV series from the normalization era written by Jaroslav Dietl showed women and their issues. I focused on the 70's and 80's TV series, whose stories take place at the time when they were made. First, I set ten model situations based on the professional literature. Then I applied them on selected female characters from the chosen series and determined whether these model situations were used (heroine was not displayed stereotypically) or not (heroine was displayed stereotypically). I applied a similar system on ten films from the normalization era to compare the characters with each other, to compare Dietl's TV series with each other and to compare his work with other works. I found out that Jaroslav Dietl fulfilled the stereotypes about women at that time, but only to some extent. Ratio of female characters beyond stereotypes to stereotype characters was 26:34 (rounded 0.76). He also used very often a character of a submisive woman who is usually displayed in her home with her family. Another finding is that Dietl's work offers several distinctive heroines, namely Alžběta Čeňková, Dana Králová (both from TV series Nemocnice na kraji města) and Ivana Pešková (TV series Inženýrská odysea). Nemocnice na kraji města is also the only case which displays more...

Postmodernita hledá postgender: Brophy, Winterson a Place / Postmodernity's Search for Postgender: Brophy, Winterson and Place

Peková, Olga January 2014 (has links)
Postmodernity's Search for Postgender: Bropy, Winterson and Place (Abstract) The thesis examines three formally very diverse texts published in 1969, 1993 and 2013 respectively that creatively approach and subvert the gender binary: Brigid Brophy's In Transit, Jeanette Winterson's Written on the Body and Vanessa Place's Boycott. Based on Jean-François Lyotard's conception of postmodernism as modernism in a constantly nascent state, the author advances a hypothesis of "postgender." This however does not mean overcoming gender for good (as it is sometimes understood, for example by Rosi Braidotti), but as a structural momentum, a possibility of subversion at the heart of any gender schema and currently therefore of genderism, i.e. the belief that gender is necessarily binary and that aspects of our gender are inherently linked to our sex assigned at birth. Apart from feminist theory and literary criticism, the thesis also touches on the field of transgender studies, psychoanalysis, philosophy of history and most importantly the work of Jacques Derrida. In so doing it tries to articulate the notion of postgender as part and parcel of the condition of postmodernity and a culmination of the modern split of the subject, leading to a certain cultural gender turn during the 1990s. The work nevertheless remains...
