Folclore na dança em Porto Alegre : a formação do Conjunto de Folclore Internacional Os Gaúchos (1959 a 1966)

Esta dissertação teve como objetivo geral reconstruir a história do Conjunto de Folclore Internacional Os Gaúchos nos seus primeiros sete anos (1959 a 1966). Como objetivos específicos, busquei analisar os dados acerca da formação do CFI Os Gaúchos; identificar aspectos da cena cultural da cidade de Porto Alegre que possibilitaram a formação e a permanência de um grupo desse estilo; e verificar o papel dos participantes na formação do grupo e as contribuições trazidas por suas diferentes formações. Para a realização desta pesquisa, foram coletados depoimentos com integrantes do grupo, baseados nos aportes teóricometodológicos da história cultural e da história oral. Depois de processados esses depoimentos, foram colocados em diálogo com outros documentos (atas do grupo, programas de espetáculo, currículos do grupo e dos integrantes, convites) e publicações sobre o grupo. Dos cruzamentos entre diferentes fontes de pesquisa foi possível perceber que o grupo atua com dança de projeção com coreografias inspiradas nas danças folclóricas de diversos países, especialmente da América Latina. Foi fundado em 1959, por iniciativa da professora e folclorista Marina Cortina Lampros, que reuniu pessoas das escolas de balé e dos Centros de Tradições Gaúchas. Alguns fatores do contexto cultural de Porto Alegre, a partir dos dados levantados, foram fundamentais para o surgimento de um grupo dessa natureza: o estado de pesquisa e divulgação do folclore, que já possibilitava a identificação das manifestações de cada país; a forte presença na cidade dos Centros de Tradições Gaúchas e das escolas de dança; a realização da Mesa Pan-Americana Feminina, que já planejava ações de integração da cultura americana; a inauguração da emissora de televisão local; e a aceitação e disponibilidade de pessoas para integrar o Conjunto. O grupo recebeu destaque primeiramente pelas apresentações internacionais. A formação de seus integrantes foi fundamental para definições de estilo e temática do conjunto. No período final de análise, o ano de 1966, vários fatores ocorreram e mostraram novos rumos para o Conjunto, tais como saída de integrantes, reestruturação da diretoria e mudanças no estatuto social. / This dissertation had the general objective to reconstruct the history of the International Folklore Group Os Gaúchos (CFI Os Gaúchos) in its first seven years (1959 to 1966). As specific objectives, I tried to analyze data about the formation of the CFI Os Gaúchos; to identify aspects of the city of Porto Alegre’s cultural scene that enabled the formation and persistence of a group like that; and to verify the role of participants in shaping the group and the contributions made by its different configurations. For this research, interviews with the group members were collected, based on theoretical and methodological frameworks of cultural history and oral history. After processing, these testimonials were set in dialogue with other documents (group’s protocols, show programs, curricula of the group and of its members, invitations) and publications about the group. From the interlacement between different research sources it was revealed that the group acts with projection dance with choreographies inspired in folk dances from various countries, especially from Latin America. It was founded in 1959 on the initiative of professor and folklorist Marina Cortina Lampros. Some factors of Porto Alegre’s cultural context, from the obtained data, were essential for the emergence of such a group: the state of folklore research and its dissemination, which already had the identification of each country’s expressions; the strong presence of Gaucho Traditions Centers and dance schools in the city; the occurrence of Pan American Women’s Bureau, which had already planned integrations actions of American culture; the inauguration of the local television station; and the acceptance and availability of people to join the group. The group was highlighted first by its international presentations. In the final period of analysis, the year 1966, several factors occurred and showed a new direction for the group, such as member exits, management restructuring and changes in the statute.

Metodológicamente se trata de un estudio ciberantropológico que investiga las implicaciones que tiene la danza folclórica no solo para los migrantes bolivianos y sus descendientes sino también para bailarines no bolivianos, y se enfoca especialmente en cuestiones de identidad y etnicidad. / Parting from the reality of diasporic communities of Bolivian migrants the present article explores what people communicate within the Web 2.0 and using Web 2.0 technologies. It is a cyber-anthropological study researching the implications Bolivian folk dance has for the Bolivian migrants and their descendants, especially focussing on issues of identity and ethnicity.

This study aims to investigate how dance teachers who are educated in Swedish folk dance are reflecting and thinking over the body and the use of bodily self-awareness in their teaching. Furthermore it wants to examine whether the use of somatic principles can act as a tool to support the ideas which dance teachers express. Four folk dance teachers have been interviewed as qualitative empirical material. These interviews have been transcribed and analyzed using codes and categories. The result of the study provides an image of the body as it is seen in folk dance today and points out similarities between that picture and somatics. Folk dance and somatics treat the whole body as a single unit and strive towards a relaxed and functional way of moving. Since folk dance and somatics have these similarities the possibility of using somatic principles in folk dance, such as training to gain consciousness of the body and its different parts to be able to relax actively, is discussed. However the result of this study shows how a rather small part of folk dance teachers think, since it only provides the opinions of four different teachers.

This thesis intends to introduce Israeli folk dance from a number of different perspectives. In the first part, based on literature review, the author presents the origins of Israeli folk dances in Israel as well as their roots and the way they further function in a current Israeli society. Special attention is given to the problematic labeling of Israeli folk dance as "folk". The second part of the thesis is based on the author's own field work and describes the ways Israeli folk dances are practiced in the Czech environment. Whereas in Israel these dances are mostly connected with demonstration of Israeli identity, they get different meanings in the Czech environment. Firstly the author attempted to reconstruct the history of spreading of Israeli folk dances in the Czech environment and to map the different groups involved in these dances. Collection of these facts can be further used as an information source for all researchers wishing to conduct studies on Israeli folk dances in the Czech Republic in the future. Secondly the author concentrated on the ways of practicing Israeli folk dances in a Prague group called Besamim. This study aims to analyse the use of performance, particularly dance, as a useful didactic tool for the development of linguistic and sociocultural competence in the learning field of Spanish as a foreign language. This professionalizing research is carried out through a comparative analysis of the application of a didactic proposal in two different Spanish learning contexts: an academic institute in the United States and a swedish secondary school.The data, gathered through the interpretative analysis of the responses provided in questionnaires given to the students and teachers at the end of the class and also through the observation process of the sessions, evidence that dance could support the development of linguistic competence since it creates a relaxed learning environment where learners assess their language skills and moreover, generates emotions that promote the specific use of linguistic elements when interaction occurs. Besides, the results demonstrate that the choice of the kind of dance (traditional-folk dance and ethnic dance) and the authenticity of the materials made possible to further the development of cultural competence. / En esta investigación se aborda el uso del performance, y en particular la danza, como un recurso didáctico útil para el desarrollo de la competencia lingüística y sociocultural, en el ámbito de aprendizaje del español como lengua extranjera (ELE). Se trata de un trabajo profesionalizador en el que se realiza un análisis comparativo de una propuesta didáctica puesta en práctica en dos entornos de aprendizaje ELE distintos: un contexto académico estadounidense y un instituto de secundaria sueco.Los datos, obtenidos a través del análisis de las respuestas proporcionadas en los cuestionarios entregados a los alumnos y a los docentes al finalizar el proyecto didáctico y también a través de la observación en el aula de las distintas sesiones, evidencian que la danza puede favorecer el desarrollo de la competencia lingüística puesto que establece entornos de aprendizaje relajados donde los aprendientes ponen a prueba sus destrezas lingüísticas y además provoca emociones que promueven el uso específico de elementos lingüísticos cuando ocurren interacciones. Además, los resultados demuestran que la elección de un tipo de danza (la tradicional-folclórica y la étnica) y la autenticidad de los materiales permitieron también el desarrollo de la competencia sociocultural.

Title: Elements of dance techniques in floor exercise in women artistic gymnastics Objective: The main objective of this master thesis is an analysis of elements of dance techniques in women finalists of floor exercise in all four Olympics games from 2004 to 2016. Methods: In this master thesis content analysis and observation has been used. These methods were used to collect and evaluate necessary data. Results: The results bring an overview of individual approach of floor exercise finalists of each olympic games from 2004 to 2016 to dance elements depending on selected criteria. Futhermore they also compare the overall use of dance elements in particular olympic games with others and indicate the effect of the time interval between games on the frequency of presence of dance elements in the reports. Cette thèse s'intéresse au processus de création chorégraphique d'un spectacle de danses traditionnelles en Bretagne. Elle a été menée à partir d’un terrain effectué au sein de la Kevrenn Alré, ensemble de musique et danse bretonnes basé à Auray dans le Morbihan, de novembre 2010 à novembre 2012. Comme la majorité des groupes bretons, cet ensemble crée son spectacle annuel pour le besoin d'un concours organisé par sa confédération. La recherche analyse les activités et les modes collectifs de production mis en œuvre lors de la fabrication du spectacle Abenn dimeurh sur le thème des préparatifs d'une noce en pays d'Auray vers 1900. La description ethnographique d'un moment de concours et l'analyse des dynamiques internes de la Kevrenn Alré permettent d'abord d'appréhender la relation du groupe à son environnement socio-culturel et d'interroger la façon dont le cadre compétitif façonne le processus de création d'un spectacle. La fabrication d'Abenn Dimeurh est ensuite observée en détaillant les différentes étapes organisées par les chorégraphes : émergence du thème, collectage, présentation du projet aux danseurs, écriture chorégraphique. Cette observation met en lumière la façon dont les responsables de la Kevrenn Alré, pour faire aboutir leur projet artistique, doivent articuler un processus de création nettement ordonnancé et une organisation collective des activités. Au fil du processus sont engagées différentes formes de coopération qui montrent que les acteurs envisagent la notion du collectif et le travail en groupe autour d'une vision commune du sens de l'effort et de la responsabilité partagée. Il se dégage de l’analyse que la définition du travail artistique comme une activité collective est opératoire dans le contexte de la danse bretonne de spectacle en tenant compte des spécificités de l'univers associatif. Dans cet univers, les membres de la Kevrenn Alré s'efforcent de concilier le plaisir du partage et la réussite au concours. De ce constat émerge que le processus de création marque la production de son empreinte en engendrant un spectacle qui exprime leur vision de la culture bretonne. / This thesis focuses on the process of choreographic creation of a folk dance performance in Brittany. It is based on fieldwork conducted in Kevrenn Alré, a Breton music and dance ensemble based in Auray in Morbihan, from November 2010 to November 2012. Like most Breton groups, Kevrenn Alré create their show to compete in the annual contest organized by the folk dance organization to which they belong. The research analyses the collective activities and modes of production implemented during the creation of the performance Abenn dimeurh on the theme of the preparations for a wedding in the Auray region around 1900.The ethnographic description of a dance contest and the analysis of Kevrenn Alré's internal dynamics first allow us to understand the group's relationship to its socio-cultural environment and to examine how the competitive framework shapes the creative process of a show. The making of Abenn Dimeurh is then observed by investigating the various steps organized by the choreographers: finding the theme, collecting data, presenting the project to the dancers, making and staging the choreographic score. This observation highlights the way Kevrenn Alré's leaders, in order to carry out their artistic project, must articulate a clearly organized creative process and a collective organization of activities. Throughout the process, various forms of cooperation are initiated, showing that the actors consider the notion of being and working together around a common vision of joint endeavour and shared responsibilities. The analysis shows that the definition of artistic work as a collective activity is operative in the context of Breton folk dance performance, taking into account the specificities of voluntary associations. In this environment, the members of Kevrenn Alré struggle to bring together the pleasure of shared activities and success in the contest. From all this, it emerges that the creative process leaves its imprint on the production by generating a performance that expresses their vision of Breton culture.
