Dansens relevans i folkmusikutbildningar

Rodhe, Agnes January 2019 (has links)
The Relevance of Dance in Folk Music Education The aim of this study was to investigate why and how dance and dance teaching can be relevant in educational programmes in folk music in Sweden. Many of these programmes include dance within them and that fact, in combination with my observation that there is an underlying cultural assumption that dance and music belong together, inspired this research. I wished to look at the function of dance within folk music programmes, and music teachers’ observations of how dance affects their students’ playing. The study has been conducted through qualitative interviews with four music teachers from different institutions, covering three themes: the purpose(s) of including dance in this kind of education, if and how they can see that the students have use for the dance knowledge in their playing, and how they look at the connection between dance and music in this genre. The result shows that there are several reasons for teaching dance as a part of educational programmes in folk music and also that the music teachers themselves use references to dance in their music teaching. These reasons can give dance pedagogues information about how some music teachers think dance is relevant and can be used in the planning of dance teaching. In conclusion, there is a discussion of how this study can be a part of understanding and developing pedagogy within the folk music genre.

Oliveira, Acacia Batista de 08 July 2011 (has links)

Three targets are envisaged here: to analyze the aesthetic ideas backing Parafolcl?rico Group exhibitions; to evaluate how their many folk elements interact with different artist languages in order to compose a certain choreography; and finally, to identify the aesthetic conformation placed behind the two different choreographs of the last performances, their trends and innermost features that differentiate them. In accordance with the Analysis of Contents (BARDIN, 2006), interviews have been made with the choreographers and the staff of the spectacles, resulting in elucidating answers to the understanding of their thematic axis. On the first chapter we called attention to motivating subjects as recollection, personal experiences, bibliography research, research in loco regarded as propelling forces of the creative works. Herein, folk culture is depicted as a dynamic process opening a frank dialogue with contemporary events and reinforcing their continuity. On the second chapter, we approached the aesthetic conformation and the scenic elements (costumes, light, scenario, make-up), integrating the studied spectacles and disseminating folk songs in various ways. As what concerns the subjects discourse, we have obtained support in authors like Robatto (1994); Lobo; Navas (2008); Burke (1989); Canclini (2006); Dufrenne (2005); Medeiros (2005); Pavis (2005); Silva (2005), among others. Those authors have provided us with an indispensable theoretic support which, added to the interviews, convinced us that the Parafolcl?rico Group s aesthetic conception tends to identify itself with the artist languages and other techniques of that Group. It also made sure that the Group s course aims at an aesthetic conception which is not limited to popular culture manifestations, like dance, but admits to play with other media in order to communicate its art. In view of this situation, we arrived to two conclusions: first: the group s interchanges emphasize the dynamic character of popular culture which, by establishing contacts with different realities, receives influences capable of extending its own continuity; second: the contemporary state of arts also improves multiple interchanges opening way, so, for many accomplishments in their field. Therefore, UFRN Parafolcl?rico Group inserts itself in the contemporary scenery by performing new evaluations of the popular dances as long as it puts them in contact with different technical, aesthetic, artist and culture combinations / Esta pesquisa tem como estudo de caso o Grupo Parafolcl?rico da UFRN, cuja conforma??o est?tica ? analisada, principalmente nas suas duas ?ltimas produ??es, intituladas Flor do L?rio (2004) e Debaixo do Barro do Ch?o (2008).

Jensen, Kirstine Nurdug January 2019 (has links)
The description of a family tradition – a hermeneutic interpretation The purpose of this thesis is to deepen the knowledge of the description of a family tradition and how it can be analysed and interpreted as well as what a family tradition can consist of. The conclusion is that it can consist of more than just dance and music. The family members’ life circumstances, the social contexts, the use of the body, and the content of the repertoire are also described as important aspects of the family tradition according to my interpretation. To fulfil the purpose of the study, I have used a hermeneutic approach to examine the content of two texts (a magister thesis and a film) in relation to the research context, in which they were made, and to my preunderstanding. The thesis contributes to the field of dance pedagogy by offering an example of how a dance pedagogue can obtain knowledge about a repertoire and/or a tradition and thereby develop their understanding of what they pass on through their teaching.

Sontheimer, Johanna January 2022 (has links)
This study aims to examine how the phenomenon of connection in Swedish folkdance is experienced and formulated by dancers. Connection is a big part of all couple dances, yet not many have concrete descriptions of it. The empirical data comes from two practical workshops with a focus group in which the participants got to dance and then directly discuss or write down their thoughts. The analysis of the material, which consists of notes and recordings, results in five themes: physical touch and its role in connection, metaphors and inner pictures of connection, technical aspects to create connection, a biomechanical approach and dancing in relation to one’s dance partner. In addition to those themes, the study generates perspectives with which the topic can be studied further. The biomechanical perspective can help understand the logics and functions of a couple dance and the metaphorical perspective appeals to the intuitive part of learning. This study is performed in a Swedish folk dance context but might be relevant to other couple dances as well, both to see similarities and differences in how the topic of connection is taught and discussed in the respective contexts.

Björk, Anna January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this study is to investigate transmission of knowledge as critical archive practice within folk dance, and thereby contribute to updating the concept tradition bearer. The research questions are: What is done in the situation of knowledge transmission where different folk dance bodies understood as archives – both living dancers and bodies in text and image – meet over time and space? How can these situations be understood theoretically and thus contribute to a new, archive oriented, theoretical understanding of the transmission of knowledge and tradition within folk dance? The empirical material consists of phenomenological interviews with three folk dancers who each participated in two workshops created by the author: in one case, the participants encountered archival material such as text, film and photography, in the other a living dancer understood as an archive. Drawing on critical and pluralizing archive theory, the findings of the study show how both dancers and archive records are stakeholders and agents in creating the affective, dynamic and complex interchanges that take place in both situations. Pluralizing archive theory also proved useful in identifying values and hierarchies among the stakeholders in the folk dance archive. In the interchange between dancer and archive, negotiations between different approaches to tradition took place. Through pluralizing archive theory and the understanding of the body as archive, the concept of tradition bearer may be given a more dynamic and inclusive definition, shifting focus from what it is to what it does, and be considered a complex relational situation.

Andersson, Klara January 2019 (has links)
This thesis is based on my own experiences of dancing Halling, a type of folk dance. Halling is commonly referred to as a male or masculine dance. This has been entangled in the problems I have had with the dance, as I have felt uncomfortable performing all the movements to their full extent. Therefore, I have researched my experiences of this dance through a practical study with a focus on specific movements that I have struggled with. Combining the findings of my practical study with theories about feminism, gender and masculinity has shown me that, while my problem is complex, it is nevertheless possible to structure into two parts of my own understanding. The first part concerns the movement that make up the dance. Through my research I was able to deal with some of the problems that I had with specific movements, and this led me to the conclusion that the movements of Halling in themselves do not have to be problematic in a gendered way. The second part concerns Halling within its context, and the way that its representation and the expectations surrounding it affect me and my dancing. The study has also shown me that being a pedagogical role model is a very complex situation where it is not only important for me to be aware of the choices I make but also the person I am in the teaching situation. /
