Formativní hodnocení na 1.stupni ZŠ / Formative evaluation at the primary school

Cée, Iveta January 2017 (has links)
The aim of my diploma thesis was to find out how teachers lead their pupils to self - assessment and how this effort relates to the type of their teaching style. The individual teaching styles, their suitability for pupils self-esteem, the particularities of individual development periods and the pupils self-evaluation in these developmental periods are characterized in the theoretical part. The practical part contains a case study, which describes the teaching styles of ten elementary school teachers and their influence on pupils' self-assessment. For the research task I used the data processing via observation and interviewing methods. Another method used in my research is the action teacher research, which helped me to find out my own teaching style and the level of self-esteem students are able to achieve in the 5th grade. The results of the research point to the influence of teacher's teaching style on self-assessment of pupils. Teachers focusing on the facilitating or liberal teaching style really lead pupils to the ability of self- assessment. Fifth-grade pupils who have not been lead to self-assessement since the first grade are not able to self-assess on the level of upper secondary school age.

DEVELOPMENT AND FORMATIVE EVALUATION OF THE SPEAK7 AFRICAN AMERICAN CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAM

Morrow, MiKeiya Y. 01 January 2017 (has links)
Child sexual abuse (CSA) is a complex issue among African American children, who experience significantly higher rates of CSA (Sedlak et al., 2012). Despite this, a dearth of research has examined CSA prevention among African American children. Moreover, there are no established culturally sensitive prevention programs targeted at addressing CSA among this demographic. This study addressed a significant gap in the literature by developing and evaluating the Speak7 African American Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Program (Speak7). Speak7 is a culturally sensitive, adult-focused CSA prevention program that aims to enhance the CSA prevention competence of adults who provide for African American children. Speak7 was developed by the principal investigator of this study using the National Standards for the Primary Prevention of Sexual Assault through Education (Carmody et al., 2009). Speak7 was evaluated using a formative approach to assess and enhance the acceptability of this intervention for African American adults. A qualitative design consisting of a pilot intervention with a focus group and key informant interviews was adopted to enable a detailed exploration of African American adults’ perceptions of Speak7’s program design, strengths, weaknesses, cultural congruence, and value. Qualitative data were analyzed using thematic content analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006). Nine themes emerged from the data: (1) acceptable design, (2) identified strengths, (3) identified weaknesses, (4) culturally appropriate, (5) valued by targets, (6) recommendations, (7) appropriate for targets, (8) dynamic engagement, and (9) views of CSA. Findings reveal critical insights into participants’ perspectives regarding the acceptability of Speak7 and inform program revisions.

The design and implementation of a computer-based course using Merrill's model of instructional design

Nordhoff, Helga Irene 02 August 2002 (has links)
This dissertation is the developmental research report on the design and development of a multimedia tutorial on Anthropometry for university-level health science students. The practical implication of using Merrill's Model of Instructional Design for developing course work for senior students in the health sciences was investigated. The multimedia tutorial was designed and developed, and the prototype evaluated by a team consisting of subject and education experts. The prototype was tested by third-year dietetic students who had completed the lecture-based and paper-based course. The students were observed while using the program, then completed a structured questionnaire and finally were given the opportunity to express their views in an informal group discussion. It was found that if the activation of relevant existing knowledge does not take place, Merrill's Model will be turned inside-out: the student's own problem replaces the instructional problem. / Thesis (MEd (Computer-integrated Education))--University of Pretoria, 2003. / Social Studies Education / unrestricted

Evaluating the Ethics and Issues in Media Case Studies

Hulme, Stephen D. 16 March 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Ethics and Issues in Media is an interactive case-study software that allows communications students to make ethical decisions based on real-life case studies. The evaluation of Ethics and Issues in Media focused on whether or not Ethics and Issues in Media 1) was easy to use, 2) allowed students to make real-life ethical decisions in realistic contexts, 3) enabled students to think about ethical issues in new ways, 4) enabled students to think through and determine potential courses of action to realistic ethical issues and 5) enabled students to understand the consequences of others' ethical decisions. A focus group discussion was held with the creator of Ethics and Issues in Media and with the students who had used it. Students' comments regarding Ethics and Issues in Media were generally positive. Ethics and Issues in Media proved to be successful in the ways that it enabled students to think through ethical issues for themselves, understand the consequences of others' ethical decisions, and think about ethical issues in new ways. Some students found Ethics and Issues in Media to be difficult to navigate, and many had trouble trusting that their answers were saved or submitted properly. The students recommended that the instructor expand the number and type of case studies included in Ethics and Issues in Media. Additionally, I recommend a more thorough orientation to Ethics and Issues in Media prior to implementation as a final exam.

Formativní evaluace výuky studenty / Student formative class evaluation

Makarov, Miroslav January 2011 (has links)
Title: Student formative class evaluation Objectives: The master's thesis puts into concept a formative evaluation of students' teaching. It deals with its use in physical education, analyzes the contents of selected research papers from this area. Methods: The methods of analysis, comparison, induction, deduction and synthesis of collected knowledge are used. From a methodological point of view the master's thesis can be described as the survey work containing the elements of comparison. Results: There is still a strong emphasis on summative evaluation rather than on formative evaluation. However, among experts, there is a consensus that formative evaluation is more important. Usable methods of formative evaluation have been found, sorted, compared and described with particular attention paid to the applications in physical education. Conclusions: Formative evaluation of students' teaching is a valuable innovation of the educational process. The research of possibilities of this type of students' participation is only at the beginning. Proposta de avaliação formativa aplicando aprendizagem baseada em problemas (ABP) no ensino médio / Proposal of formative evaluation applying problem-based learning (PBL) in high school

Silva, Fabiana Carvalho 13 March 2017 (has links)
Learning evaluation is a very controversial topic. It is one of the greatest problems in the development of the pedagogical process in the different levels and modalities of teaching. Evaluation is classified into the different types as diagnostic, formative and summative (classificatory). The aim of diagnostic evaluation is to find out the causes of learning problems and plan to take remedial actions. Formative evaluation is used to monitor student\'s learning progress during instruction with the purpose of providing ongoing feedback to students and teachers regarding success and failure of teaching/learning process. Summative evaluation is given at the end of the course or unit of instructions to find out which student, to what extent has mastered the intended learning outcomes. Evaluation is an important issue also discussed during the application of different teaching methodology as problem-based learning (PBL). The PBL is a method of learning in which learners first encounter a problem followed by a systematic, learner-centered inquiry and reflection process. Also, the cultural environment together with the chosen teaching methodology can influence the way of students learns. In this way, Hofstede (1980) has presented an identification method of cultural dimensions: power distance index (PDI), individualism versus collectivism (IDV), masculinity versus femininity (MAS), uncertainty avoidance index (UAI) and long term orientation versus short term normative orientation (LTO). In this context, this work aimed to ascertain if PBL could promotes the integration of formative evaluation as an element of redirection and motivation for the teaching-learning process for high school biology students. The Hofstede\'s cultural profiles of the students were taking account during the application of the methodology. This methodology was applied for two different classrooms during three set of bimester. The students were evaluated considering their attitudes during the PBL application and school tests. PBL methodology integrated into formative evaluation was favored by the elaboration of the teacher\'s follow-up form. Also, another auxiliary form favored a quick teacher annotation about the attitudinal student performance in PBL. Each student had it on self-evaluation form, which contributed positively to change student posture by increasing interest during the classes. During the period of the methodology was applied it was observed an improvement in the averages of the students school tests at a 95% confidence level. The proposal to integrate the formative evaluation into problem-based learning (PBL) for high school biology students improved student\'s performance also in behavioral aspects. The forms used in this work were made available to be included in the pedagogical plan of a public school in the state of São Paulo to favor the formative evaluation of the students.

Fourteen teachers were the subjects of this study. The methodology was based on the qualitative approach, with application of two questionnaires and documental research. The choice of the theme was based on the recognition of the need to intensify debates and research about evaluation according to the new National Education Law (LDB), no. 9394 from 1996, whose educational focus, introduced in the three teaching levels of the Brazilian educational system, favors continuous and formative evaluation, which has no qualifying approach. This paper describes the creation and expansion of SENAC within the Brazilian educational context, focusing on evaluation as regard to different pedagogical tendencies. The evaluation at SENAC-S?o Paulo and, specifically, in PDE is discussed. The pedagogical/psychological theories that lay the basis of the formative evaluation and their relationship with the Brazilian education are analyzed. Data analysis has shown PDE fostered reflections and changes in teachers' attitude and identified problems and perspectives of a continuous education process with focus on the formative evaluation. / This study aims to qualify the supervision for teachers through pedagogical coordination, contributing to the performance evaluation in order to be done in a formative evaluation perspective. The research took place at Colégio Catarinense, located in the city of Florianópolis in the State of Santa Catarina. It refers to a private school of primary education and it belongs to the Jesuit Education Network. In order to accomplish the aim of this study, the following statement worked as guidance: how can the practices of the pedagogical coordination contribute to the teacher’s performance evaluation in order to be done as a formative evaluation? With the qualitative nature of the study, the methodological approach includes the Participant Observation, considering that it involved the researcher itself as a pedagogical coordinator and the teachers supervised by her. The research draws upon daily records, monthly reports, institutional self-evaluation results and pedagogical letters. Discursive Text Analysis principles were applied concerning the data interpretation. The main theoretical contributions were based on studies of Francisco Imbernón, Domingos Fernandes, Maria Celina Melchior, Gonçalo Simões, Flávia Vieira and Maria Alfredo Moreira. The results emphasize that the pedagogical coordinator has a fundamental role alongside the teachers in relation to the development of a formative evaluation culture trough the pedagogical coordinator work of the school. The suggestion toward pedagogical letters as an instrument of teacher self-evaluation is also a result of this research at Colégio Catarinense and it became essential in the perspective of a formative evaluation.

Tavares, Cristina Zukowsky 15 May 2008 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Cristina Zukowsky Tavares.pdf: 3641580 bytes, checksum: 72e9cb870a0d238e49addf255fcf5650 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2008-05-15 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / In that investigation combined with the line of research in Education, Curriculum and Evaluation of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo), I`ve questioned some issues related to the hegemony of the evaluation as a measure in the teaching actions and conceptions, and the need for the teachers development face a more formative and emancipatory guiding in evaluation. The research aimed to use the reflection and practice in evaluation as a strategy for development, contributing to the building and change of theoretical-practical constructs in evaluation in the service of learning with teachers of Elementary and Higher Teaching of the Adventist Academic Center of São Paulo (Centro Universitário Adventista de São Paulo). To interfere in the course of the educational action while conducted oneself for an investigation of a qualitative nature was a methodological option coherent with the critical-dialectical perspective, by interpreting the dynamics of the contradiction existing in the construction of reality and the possibilities of overcoming these contradictions in the course of actions. The research was characterized as a search-action where the related issues to the conceptual and practical challenges faced by teachers in the classroom were articulated with worries concerning to the continued development. The collective seminars with the eight participant teachers (December 2004 - April 2006), individual interviews with teachers and students, the documental analysis and the evaluation focal group constituted that investigation procedures. Considering that the process of change is not made all at once, but by successive approximations, the research indicated the importance of a project of continuing development and a proposal for a curriculum and educational management that allow the teacher formulate a wider theoreticalpractical representation to guide his actions, talking the epistemology of the practice with studies and investigations in the area, opening ways that could be theorized, discussed and reconceptualized. Although radical changes have not been observed in the conceptions and teaching practices in evaluating, a significant increase could be registered through the participants testimony in the process and in the focal group as a contribution for their self-evaluation of the practice; an increase of conflicts, contrasts and questionings before the evaluation; a diversification strategies of the student attendance, and the opportunity to collectively reflect on a so complex subject as the evaluation, which arose the strengthening of concepts and attitudes a little more critical in the analysis of the conceptions that guide our practices, often solitary, ingenuous and disconnected of a wider political, economic and social meaning / Nessa investigação articulada com a linha de pesquisa em Educação, Currículo e Avaliação da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo problematizei algumas questões relacionadas à hegemonia da avaliação como medida nas ações e concepções docentes, e a necessidade de a formação de professores fazer frente a um encaminhamento mais formativo e emancipatório em avaliação.
