The experience of hope for informal caregivers of palliative home care patients : a grounded theory exploration

The purpose of this study was to explore the processes of hope in informal caregivers of palliative patients. Interviews were conducted with caregivers who were living with and currently providing care to a palliative patient at home. Saturation was reached with 10 caregivers, five females and five males, from 2 cities in Saskatchewan, Canada. <p>The design of this qualitative study was Glasers (2001) grounded theory. Broad, unstructured face to face audio taped interviews were conducted in the participants homes. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using constant-comparative method of analysis in order to identify the main concern of the participants related to hope, and the basic social processes used to resolve that concern. <p>Eroding hope was the main concern relating to hope during caregiving for a palliative patient. Eroding hope was a result of bad days, negative messages, and experiences with the health care system. The participants deal with eroding hope by using the basic social process of hanging on to hope. Hanging on to hope has 4 sub-processes: a)doing what you have to do, b)living in the moment, c)staying positive, and d)writing your own story. The support of friends, family, and health care professionals and connecting with something bigger and stronger were sub-processes of hanging on to hope that together directly affect the other sub-processes.<p>The findings of this study have direct application for the care and support of informal caregivers providing palliative care at home, as a basis for assessment and interventions that will assist caregivers to hang on to hope. Nurses and other health care professionals need to recognize and value the experience of hope for caregivers by addressing, teaching, and reinforcing the sub-processes and ways of hanging on to hope into their practice.

Le montage des peintures coréennes sous la dynastie Joseon (1392-1910) / The Mounting of Korean Paintings during the Joseon dynastye (1392-1910)

Les peintures coréennes datant de la dynastie Joseon (1392-1910) ont été très souvent remontées à la manière chinoise ou japonaise. Il est possible d’en reconstituer la configuration grâce à de rares exemples de rouleaux suspendus ayant conservé leurs montages d’origine. Il en est ainsi du Portrait de Kang Sehwang par Yi Myeonggi, qui date de 1783, et aujourd’hui conservé au Musée national de Corée, à Séoul, ou encore des Bambous sous la pluie de Yi Chong, datant de 1622 et appartenant au Musée Guimet, dont l’originalité tient à l’inclusion d’un colophon calligraphié. Dans ce genre de peintures réservées aux lettrés, le schéma d’encadrement au moyen d’une bordure blanche ainsi que d’un encadrement supérieur et inférieur de couleur bleue apparaît comme étant semblable. On peut étendre le travail de reconstitution grâce aux archives royales, où des commandes de paravents de diverses natures sont enregistrées. Le genre mal connu des « souvenirs de réunions », à mi-chemin entre peinture et écriture, révèle des montages originaux sous forme de rouleaux suspendus. L’examen d’autres genres de peintures, qu’elles soient commémoratives, édificatrices, ou même chamaniques montre l’étendue des solutions de montages, ce qui tient à l’extrême variété des papiers coréens utilisés. La conception de formats géants pour les peintures bouddhiques, surtout après la Guerre d’Imjin (1592-1598), ne peut s’expliquer sans les propriétés de résistance du papier coréen. L’examen technique et esthétique des montages de peintures coréennes apporte ainsi un nouvel éclairage à l’histoire de la peinture coréenne, depuis la fin de la dynastie Goryeo jusqu’aux bouleversements politiques apparus en 1910. / During the 20th century, most Korean paintings dating from the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910) have been remounted by using the Chinese technique or the Japanese one. Yet, it is possible to reconstruct their original appearance by studying a couple of Korean scrolls that have kept their original mounts. The Portrait of Kang Sehwang by the painter Yi Myeonggi, dated 1783, that belongs to the National Museum of Korea in Seoul, is one of them. Bamboos under the Rain, painted by Yi Chong in 1622, kept by the Guimet Museum in Paris, is a further example, its original feature being the inclusion of a colophon with a calligraphy. In these paintings intended for scholars, the design of the frame, taking the form of a white border with a blue upper and lower part, seems to have been widespread. One may extend the reconstruction of the Korean mounts by analysing the content of the royal archives: the commissioning of screens were documented in detail, revealing all kind of information about their material. Studying the lesser known genre of the “memories of meetings”, at the border between painting and writing, is particularly instructive as some of these have kept their original mounts. Examination of further categories of paintings, whether commemorative, votive or even shamanist, reveal a large extent of solution of mountings, and this is due to the varieties of Korean paper. The making of giant format for Buddhist paintings after the Imjin War (1592-1598) was largely the result of the resistant properties of the Korean paper named hanji.

This thesis deals with the study of electrochemical behaviour of dehydrocholic and chenodeoxycholic acid at stationary mercury-based electrodes - hanging mercury dropping electrode and silver solid amalgam electrode modified by a mercury meniscus. This is the first study of electrochemical behaviour of dehydrocholic acid which offers tree peaks with potentials around -1270 mV, -1450 mV and -1800 mV. The last one with the potential -1800 mV is probably the main peak given by reduction of carboxylic group of side chain of steroid skeleton. By cyclic voltammetry was determined that the process is quasireversible and is strongly influenced by adsorption of DHCA on the electrode surface and also by the pH which determines dissociation degree of carboxylic group. In the environment of BR buffer (pH 7.0) - methanol (9:1) was measured concentration dependence by DC, DP and "square-wave" voltammetry. By neither one of these methods have been reached satisfying limits of detection and wide linear dynamic ranges. However, the repeatable signals in wide range of pH can be used for electrochemical characterization of DHCA. CDCA offers in environment 0,04 mol·l-1 borat buffer (pH 9.1) - methanol (9:1) one signal with potential around -1350 mV. Position of this peak on the potential axe and also its height are...

Furthermore, a calculation was performed also for anchoring of slide-ways and strength check was done according to standard ČSN EN 81-1. The thesis contains also the assembly drawing of grid of lift machine and it was executed in cooperation with LIFTMONT CZ s.r.o.

The dissertation thesis entitled Selected Post-conceptual Approaches in the Contemporary Czech Painting reflects the author’s expressions of the youngest artists’ generation working with the conceptual forms in the painting medium after 1996. The aim of the dissertation is to outline the conflict and overlapping of the conceptualism and painting. Apart from the development of conceptual art, the reference framework of the submitted thesis also comprises the post-modern turn in visual arts associated with a global change in its social status during the second half of the 20th and at the beginning of 21st century. The development of the domestic artistic scene and particular approaches are presented on the basis of a representative selection of the most distinctive tendencies and significant authors, being compared with the work of foreign artists. The text interprets the key theoretical treatises, reviewed responses and artists’ statements covering the domain of “contemporary painting to conceptual art”.

Hanging Load Mock-Up For Experimental Setup To Test Flight System Stability

Can we reduce disturbance, swing, and errors by delegating some of the tasks to a subsystem on the tool hanging from a drone to gain precision and dependability? This project covers developing and implementing a user-controlled prototype with an automatic control system and gripper for functionality and controlled movement in 5 DOF. AirForestry is developing a new way of working in the forestry business to provide a greener and healthier solution for the soil and the environment. The forestry industry emits approximately one million tons of CO2 per year from heavy diesel-fueled vehicles. With a renewable energy battery-powered drone of a diameter of 6.2 m and a hanging harvesting tool, they can significantly improve the environmental impact of forestry. The harvesting tool has an automatic control system and is user controlled to perform the thinning and cutting of trees. The main focus is to use IMU sensor data to produce accurate angle estimation to control the stability of a scaled prototype and to implement physical restrictions to make it able to be attached safely and tested on a drone but not limit the controlled mobility of the prototype with a system independent of the control system of the drone itself. The user can control the attitude and elevation and receive real-time sensor data wireless during operation. With the intended spacing of the attachment points on the drone, it can prevent unwanted swing from a push or displaced drop. It uses the accelerometer on the IMUsensor to calculate the angle of roll and pitch, although the accelerometer is sensitive to vibrations and rotations. The control system has a fast response and rise time, but it experiences noise and oscillations. Sensor fusion of the accelerometer and gyroscope in a complementary filter can be implemented to increase the accuracy of the angle estimations and decrease the noise, which will be reflected in the speed of the servos and thereby improve the stability and mobility of the system.
