Modelos multiníveis Weibull com efeitos aleatórios / Multilevel Weibull models with random effects

Freddy Hernandez Barajas 28 February 2013 (has links)
Multilevel models are a class of models useful in the analysis of datasets with hierarchical structure. In the present work we propose multilevel Weibull models in which random intercepts are considered to model the two parameters of the Weibull distribution. The proposed models are flexible due to random intercepts distribution can be chosen from one of the four following distributions: normal, log-gamma, logistics and Cauchy. An extension of the models is presented in which we can include, in the systematic part of the two parameters of the distribution, random intercepts and slopes with a bivariate normal distribution. The parameter estimation is performed by maximum likelihood method using the Gauss Hermite quadrature to approximate the likelihood function. A package in R language was especially developed to obtain parameter estimation, random effects predictions and residuals for the proposed models. Additionally, through a simulation study we investigated the misspecification random effect distribution on estimated parameter for the proposed model

Riesz Transforms Associated With Heisenberg Groups And Grushin Operators

Sanjay, P K 07 1900 (has links) (PDF)
We characterise the higher order Riesz transforms on the Heisenberg group and also show that they satisfy dimension-free bounds under some assumptions on the multipliers. We also prove the boundedness of the higher order Riesz transforms associated to the Hermite operator. Using transference theorems, we deduce boundedness theorems for Riesz transforms on the reduced Heisenberg group and hence also for the Riesz transforms associated to special Hermite and Laguerre expansions. Next we study the Riesz transforms associated to the Grushin operator G = - Δ - |x|2@t2 on Rn+1. We prove that both the first order and higher order Riesz transforms are bounded on Lp(Rn+1): We also prove that norms of the first order Riesz transforms are independent of the dimension n.

Παλούμπη, Μαρία 14 August 2008 (has links)

This work presents a method for curve discrirninationbased on Hermite cubic polynornialrepresentation. The Hermite-Fourier spectral method for solving the Vlasov-Maxwell system of equations

Vencels, Juris January 2016 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the improvement of the Hermite-Fourier spectral method for solving kinetic plasma problems. In the first part of the thesis a novel dynamically adaptive techniques for changing the number of Hermite modes and Hermite basis are presented. Preconditioning of the problem and use of high-end scientific toolkit PETSc are discussed. The technique of changing the number of modes and preconditioning are believed to reduce computational time, while a change of basis improves robustness and numerical convergence of the method. The second part of the thesis focuses on paralellization strategies and performance analysis of the code implemented in the Fortran programming language.
