Multi-Tenant Apache Kafka for Hops : Kafka Topic-Based Multi-Tenancy and ACL- Based Authorization for Hops

Dessalegn Muruts, Misganu January 2016 (has links)
Apache Kafka is a distributed, high throughput and fault-tolerant publish/subscribe messaging system in the Hadoop ecosystem. It is used as a distributed data streaming and processing platform. Kafka topics are the units of message feeds in the Kafka cluster. Kafka producer publishes messages into these topics and a Kafka consumer subscribes to topics to pull those messages. With the increased usage of Kafka in the data infrastructure of many companies, there are many Kafka clients that publish and consume messages to/from the Kafka topics. In fact, these client operations can be malicious. To mitigate this risk, clients must authenticate themselves and their operation must be authorized before they can access to a given topic. Nowadays, Kafka ships with a pluggable Authorizer interface to implement access control list (ACL) based authorization for client operation. Kafka users can implement the interface differently to satisfy their security requirements. SimpleACLAuthorizer is the out-of-box implementation of the interface and uses a Zookeeper for ACLs storage.HopsWorks, based on Hops a next generation Hadoop distribution, provides support for project-based multi-tenancy, where projects are fully isolated at the level of the Hadoop Filesystem and YARN. In this project, we added Kafka topicbased multi-tenancy in Hops projects. Kafka topic is created from inside Hops project and persisted both at the Zookeeper and the NDBCluster. Persisting a topic into a database enabled us for topic sharing across projects. ACLs are added to Kafka topics and are persisted only into the database. Client access to Kafka topics is authorized based on these ACLs. ACLs are added, updated, listed and/or removed from the HopsWorks WebUI. HopsACLAuthorizer, a Hops implementation of the Authorizer interface, authorizes Kafka client operations using the ACLs in the database. The Apache Avro schema registry for topics enabled the producer and consumer to better integrate by transferring a preestablished message format. The result of this project is the first Hadoop distribution that supports Kafka multi-tenancy.

Química do sabor de cervejas: detalhes moleculares de lúpulos (Humulus lupulus) cultivados no Brasil no processo cervejeiro / Beer flavor chemistry: molecular details of Brazilian hops (Humulus lupulus) in the brewing process

Durello, Renato da Silva 12 April 2019 (has links)
In this research the chemical composition of cascade, columbus, chinook and hallertauer hops, cultivated in different regions of Brazil (Minas Gerais, Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul) are being investigated for chemical composition for the first time. When comparing the chemical compositions of Brazilian hops with commercial hops produced in other countries, it was verified that the cascade variety produced in Araxá city (MG) were the most similar to the commercial products. The cascade cultivated in Brazil presented levels of humulones and lupulones of 4% and 3%, respectively. Regarding the essential oil contents, cascade cultivated in Brazil showed a yield of 1.2% (v/w). The main constituents of the essential oil of this hop were: β-mycene (59%), 2-methylbutyl isobutyrate (0.7%), linalool (0.5%), β-caryophyllene (4%), α-humulene and α-farnesene (1%). After this sceening, the cascade cultivated in Brazil were used to make a craft beer, and in parallel was also made a craft beer with commercial cascade hop (control), in order to compare the effect of hops origin on volatiles chemical composition and on iso-humulones content in the beers produced. In addition, the effect of β-glucosidase, an enzyme which catalyses the hydrolysis of terminal non-reducing residues in β-glucosidese (EC number: 3.2.1.21), on the release of hop volatiles (from glicoside terpenes) to beers is also being investigated. For the beer volatile analysis, the extraction step by headspace solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) was optimized by response surface methodology. The optimal extraction conditions were: CAR/DVB/PDMS fiber, and extraction temperature of 75 °C for 121 minutes. The beers produced showed differences in the composition of their volatiles, and in the aroma evaluated in a blind sensory test. The beers made with enzyme showed more intense aromas than those made without β-glucosidase, which can be explained by the greater amount of certain terpenes in these beers, which suggests the existence of glycosylated terpenes in the hops. Regarding the iso-humulone levels in the beers, although these compounds were quantified in the elaborated beers, it was not possible to compare the results by a possible error in the hopping stage during brewing.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Sergio_Kupski_2015.pdf: 5793850 bytes, checksum: 1abe03c5de9e1065ce978b22b486cc50 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-02-26 / Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) process of vegetable oils with CO2 is an alternative to the traditional processes, with advantages related to final product quality, extraction yield and simpler separation stages. Hops (Humulus Lupulus L.) are widely used for beer brewing and their essential oils contain substances with potential pharmaceutical use. Mathematical modeling of the mass transfer mechanisms that rule the SFE may provide information about the process parameters influence on the total yield and extraction rate. This work intends to analyze the influence of the following parameters: temperature (de 35 a 55º C), pressure (100 a 200 bar), particle size (de 3,28 X 10-4 m a 1,02 X 10-3 m), particle size distribution and raw material treatment. Extraction of hop with supercritical carbon dioxide was performed on experimental scale. The data obtained was used to adjust the extraction curves simulated with five models available at literature. Besides those, the data allowed to test a proposed model, applied for the extraction from hop bracts. Tested models adjusted the experimental data satisfactorily and the estimated parameters analysis allowed building another model.

Dynamic system safety analysis in HiP-HOPS with Petri Nets and Bayesian Networks

Kabir, Sohag, Walker, M., Papadopoulos, Y. 18 October 2019 (has links)
Yes / Dynamic systems exhibit time-dependent behaviours and complex functional dependencies amongst their components. Therefore, to capture the full system failure behaviour, it is not enough to simply determine the consequences of different combinations of failure events: it is also necessary to understand the order in which they fail. Pandora temporal fault trees (TFTs) increase the expressive power of fault trees and allow modelling of sequence-dependent failure behaviour of systems. However, like classical fault tree analysis, TFT analysis requires a lot of manual effort, which makes it time consuming and expensive. This in turn makes it less viable for use in modern, iterated system design processes, which requires a quicker turnaround and consistency across evolutions. In this paper, we propose for a model-based analysis of temporal fault trees via HiP-HOPS, which is a state-of-the-art model-based dependability analysis method supported by tools that largely automate analysis and optimisation of systems. The proposal extends HiP-HOPS with Pandora, Petri Nets and Bayesian Networks and results to dynamic dependability analysis that is more readily integrated into modern design processes. The effectiveness is demonstrated via application to an aircraft fuel distribution system. / Partly funded by the DEIS H2020 project (Grant Agreement 732242).

Historický pivovar - potenciál regionálního rozvoje / Historical brewery - potential for regional development

Mosler, Štěpán January 2018 (has links)
Nowadays there are hundreds of breweries scattered throughout Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia, waiting for their new future. They are either abandoned or in private property. In the worst case they have been deteriorating with no hope of recovery. There are not many left. It is very difficult to find a new function and especially enlightened investor. Important thing is how we will treat with these structures in the future. Will we use this unique potential, or leave this place for a new function? Which way we can choose? What is the potential of these buildings and what they need? This thesis attempts to briefly describe and demonstrate the value of brewery architecture which due to dramatic changes in society became endangered. And to offer possible solutions for the preservation this unique buildings their charm and atmosphere for the next generations.
