Previous issue date: 2009 / This work tries to evaluate the development of teaching material for Distance Education in Network, in order to suggest new possibilities for its development. Is a qualitative research, which uses content analysis as method and checklist as tool. The data show from two classes, physics and literature, constituted by the Production Center, of the Virtual Institute UFC. The checklist is divided into three categories refered to as: educacional website, usability and hypermedia nodes. Each category is segmented into based on criteria rated on a scale ranging from 1 (completely inadequate) to 5 (totally appropriate). Classes are evaluated in three distinct phases: a lesson developed by the teacher-author, reviewed by professional of the didactic transition and published in a virtual learning environment, allowing an understanding of its evolution during production. The results show that: there are guidelines set for joint action and multidisciplinary development of materials; the action of each subject at different stages can define the adequacy or inadequacy of the learning units; are few the correlations made between the materials and AVAs; and that there is a deficiency, by the professionals in their understanding about the capabilities of the usability and of hypermedia nodes. These results highlight the roles of the subject in the course of drawing materials, showing that there are still many unknowns regarding the components of the materials, and on necessary changes to ensure that the subject identify, understand and use.

[en] PLAYING BEYOND: THE INTERPLAY BETWEEN THE MAGIC OF VIDEO GAMES AND THE PLAYER S CREATIVE PLAY / [pt] JOGANDO ALÉM: O INTERJOGO ENTRE A MÁGICA DO JOGO ELETRÔNICO E O BRINCAR CRIATIVO DO JOGADORROBERTA PURPER BRANDÃO 01 November 2016 (has links)
O objetivo geral do trabalho
proporcionada pelo jogo eletrônico e o brincar criativo do jogador. / [en] As always, new generations find enjoyment and fun through play. In addition to
playing with traditional games and toys, however, today we can also create and discover
new and unique experiences through play. The popularized spread of computers, digital
networks, and distributed technology has invented the most complex game or toy yet:
the video game. Yet for all the acclaimed commercial success of the video game
industry, we are still searching for a unified language and vocabulary capable of
describing these new player experiences. This dissertation presents a psychological
study – based on the results of a qualitative field research with 10 young participants of
multiplayer games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – of what is at play when the player goes
beyond game strategies and discovers individual tactics. The study presents a
psychological framework of the interplay between player and gameplay built upon
several conceptual axes, which emerged from the categories of research analysis. The
objective purpose of the psychological study was to support the future development of
game design guidelines, and provide a framework for the research, production, and
description of experiences that foster interplay between the magic of video games and
the player s creative play.

[en] CONTEXT MANAGER FRAMEWORK FOR SUPPORTING ADAPTIVE HYPERMEDIA SYSTEMS AND OTHER CONTEXT-AWARE APPLICATIONS / [pt] UM FRAMEWORK PARA GERÊNCIA DE CONTEXTO ORIENTADO A SISTEMAS HIPERMÍDIA ADAPTATIVOSCLAUDIA SILVA VILLA ALVAREZ DE NORONHA ROLINS 28 June 2004 (has links)
[pt] A computação orientada a contexto (Context-Aware
Muitas pesquisas
[en] Context Aware Computing is a paradigm that allows
applications to find and take profit from information that
surrounds them at a given time, such as location, nearby
resources, available infra-structure, user preferences,
among others. Research in this area focuses on mobile or
ubiquitous computing. However, recent research indicates
that several aspects of this area are not limited to
mobility and ubiquity. They can also profit from systems
connected to other areas. Comprehensive
multimedia/hypermedia systems must support all the phases
of a document treatment. The treatment must encompass
authoring, as well as storage and final presentation to
the reader (end user). Particularly in this type of
system, it is desirable to have tools that adapt the
document, that is, tools that apply transformations to the
hyper-document, making it adequate to the visualization.
Hypermedia systems with adaptation strategies are an
example of context-aware applications. The goal of this
dissertation is to create a new architecture for context
management: one architecture developed and built as an
independent structure that may be reused by different
systems, particularly by hypermedia systems. This
architecture is based on a model of context information
representation and on a recyclable framework that can be
incorporated to several implementations.

Previous issue date: 2011-12-13 / Nowadays, e-learning has become an important source of knowledge, providing content
without the limitation of time or space. In this context, Web-based education became
an important sector. A large number of e-learning applications have utilized the Web to
teach, mainly to provide distance learning. As a result of the substantial growth in elearning
there has been an increase in the diversity of students that uses this environment
to achieve their academic or professional backgrounds. In general, these students have
di erent personal, social-cultural and cognitive characteristics. Adaptive Hypermedia Systems
provide resources to assist this diverse public, they are able to consider the individual
characteristics of students during the learning process. It is known that the representation
of these features are often associated with uncertain and imprecise information. Given
this context, this work proposes a Web-based Adaptive Educational Hypermedia System
(with instructional content) that aims to personalize the process of distance learning. It
has a student model that is able to represent the uncertainties related to the student's
knowledge (characteristic of the students considered by the system) through the use of a
Bayesian Network. This model is adjusted according to the answers provided by students
in ability tests, which in turn are evaluated by a mathematical model of Item Response
Theory. The experiment realized compared the results obtained by the proposed system,
that is provided with adaptation (personalization) mechanisms, and other system that has
no such mechanisms, in which the same content was presented to all the students. Statistical
analysis of the collected data has shown a signi cant improvement in knowledge
retention by the students who used the system provided with adaptation. However, it
was expected, as a result of this improvement, that the levels of satisfaction reported
by the students who used the proposed system were better than the levels reported by
the students who used the system without adaptation, which was not evidenced by the
gathered data.
Neste contexto, a

Previous issue date: 2005-03-11 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / With the continuous migration of a great diversity of services to the Web, the need for
characterizing the users in this environment increases. For that, components that can
continually perceive their environment and rapidly adapt to its changes are required, thus
reflecting the changes in the user behaviors.
Among the existent approaches for modeling Web users, Web usage mining appears as
one of the most interesting. Through Web usage mining a user can be implicitly and
automatically modeled through his/her usage data, generated from his/her interaction with
the Web.
This work proposes ONTOWUM, a user modeling and usage mining-based multi-agent
framework for Web personalization.
The framework comprises two layers, where four agents are distributed according to their
responsibilities: Interface agent, responsible for both capturing the user browsing
information and performing the adaptation effects; User Modeling agent, responsible for
creating and updating both user models and adaptation models; Acquirer agent,
responsible for creating and updating an usage data repository containing past user
models; and finally, Miner agent, responsible for both discovering group of users with
similar browsing behavior and classifying the current user in these groups. The Interface
and User modeling agents belong to the user information-processing layer, and the
Acquirer and Miner agents belong to the pattern-discovering layer.
The methodology and tool used to guide the analyses and design phases were MADEM
( Multi-Agent Domain Engineering Methodology ) and ONTOMADEM, respectively. For the
implementation of ONTOWUM it was used the JADE framework.
comportamento do usuário.
informações provenientes da navegação do usuário quanto pela execução da adaptação;
domínio do ONTOMUW foram a MADEM ( Multi-Agent Domain Engineering
Methodology ) e a ONTOMADEM respectivamente.

This dissertation aimed at investigating the contributions of a digital reading environment for lexical learning and for lexical retention in memory, in short and long term, under an indirect lexical teaching and learning approach. For this, two digital reading environments were prepared, both built according to elearning design principles (Istrate 2009), one with hypermedia resources and another one without hypermedia resources. This experimental study was made to test the digital reading environments as teaching and learning objects for English as Foreign Language. In the theoretical field, this work try to retrieve the importance of lexical teaching and learning processes within Foreign Language (henceforth FL) learning contexts, specially, considering the role that hypermedia may enact in lexical learning through reading (Souza 2004, Braga and Souza 2007). On the theoretical grounds yet, the advantages for adopting a conexionist language approach are discussed in order to explain FL learning phenomena in digital contexts (Waring 1996, Nelson 2013). Hypermedia Information Processing models are presented (Mayer 2001, Hede 2002), as well as memory models (Baddeley 2003, McClelland et al. 1995). Methodologically, this is a quasi experimental research, that tried to control the presence and absence of hypermedia resources in FL computer mediated reading environments. The experiment was applied in a federal university from Juiz de Fora (Minas Gerais State – Brazil) to 60 voluntary participants, 30 in the experimental group, and 30 in the control group. For analysis effects, the most important data was those collected using vocabulary knowledge tests. The data were submitted to simple quantitative methods. The data analysis point out that on the short term, both reading environments turned out similar results, promoting lexical learning and lexical retention. However, the long-term results showed that the lexical retention in the experimental group was qualitatively better than the control group, this point out that hypermedia may have played some positive effects for lexical learning and lexical retention in memory.

This thesis studies the place and utilisation of mass media on theatre stages during the 20th and 21st centuries. It aims to determine the importance of the thinking about the media in theatre during the great theatrical changes of the period. The research study, presented from a historical perspective, is organised into three parts: cinema, television, and the Internet and other digital media - the identified dominant media. Changes in media culture and certain artistic reflexions provoked the appearance of new theatrical forms, both with and without the utilisation of new technological innovations. An analysis of the thinking of theatre artists facing media developments allows new insight into theatre, the media and their relationship. This thesis aims to question the functions of theatre in the developing art and media landscape, and reflects on possible consequences for theatre studies in the age of digital media.

ATIVIDADES DE ESTUDO HIPERMIDIÁTICA MEDIADAS POR AMBIENTE VIRTUAL DE ENSINO-APRENDIZAGEM LIVRE / HYPERMEDIATIC STUDY ACTIVITIES MEDIATED BY FREE VIRTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENTFruet, Fabiane Sarmento Oliveira 19 February 2010 (has links)
We investigated the hypermediatic integration of free information and communication technology in study activities, mediated by Free Virtual Teaching and Learning
Environment, more specifically Moodle, in a course at the Federal University of Santa Maria. Our goal was to identify the advances and challenges of this integration
in teaching and learning mediated by Moodle, in order to bring contributions to the educational process. Thus, we use the concept of educational action research, which
involved a retrospective movement (questioning and reflective understanding of practice) and prospective (planning of new actions guided by the results already
shown). In this work, we have also taken the methodological guidance of three matrices: Problem-Dialog Matrix (PDM), Thematic-Organizing Matrix (TOM) and
Thematic-Analytical Matrix (TAM), which were organized respectively in three stages of spiral-cycles: thematic concern, organization and analysis. Study activities, dialog applied to problem-searching, educational hypermedia and cognitive flexibility were concepts that guided the development of hypermediatic study activities. Then, we conclude that the study activities organized in hypermediatic mode, mediated by Moodle, from a socio-constructivist, problem-dialog and Cognitive Flexibility Theory perspective, present a great scholar potential for the critical appropriation of scientific knowledge in relation to different contexts of reality.
hipermídia educacional e flexibilidade cognitiva guiaram o

Compositional approaches within new media paradigmsOliveiro, Mark, 1983- 05 1900 (has links)
"Compositional Approaches to New Media Paradigms" is the discursive accompaniment to the original composition BoMoH, (a new media chamber opera. A variety of new media concepts and practices are discussed in relation to their use as a contemporary compositional methodology for computer musicians and digital content producers. This paper aligns relevant discourse with a variety of concepts as they influence and affect the compositional process. This paper does not propose a new working method; rather it draws attention to a contemporary interdisciplinary practice that facilitates new possibilities for engagement and aesthetics in digital art/music. Finally, in demonstrating a selection of the design principals, from a variety of new media theories of interest, in compositional structure and concept, it is my hope to provide composers and computer musicians with a tested resource that will function as a helpful set of working guidelines for producing new media enabled art, sonic or otherwise.

The main goal of the thesis is to describe a position of the real experiment in chemistry at the beginning of the 21 century and to contribute to solution of speculations if this didactic tool is or is not at current schools such a rarity as it's often described. The starting point of the thesis is extensive research of the literature related to history of natural science literacy which is condition not only for the right experiment interpretation but also of its suitable usage in the lessons. The theoretical part observes also the ensuring of the chemical experiment in the curricular documents and its position in the chemistry teaching in recent past. The experiment is a dynamic visualia therefore the visualias are classified in particular part of the thesis and their occurrence and function are described - in today's information society, chemistry textbooks, as a part of hypermedia programs for chemistry teaching and in lessons in general. The thesis focuses partly on hypermedia programs, especially then on materials for chemistry teaching that proved to be helpful in e-learning. Through the questionnaire inquiry at primary and secondary schools in Czech Republic were discovered not merely material also personal options of the schools and chemistry teachers in relation to the experiment...
