Cybercrime Using Electronical Identification

Brandt Hjertstedt, Eleonor January 2019 (has links)
This thesis investigates the threats against electronical identification, more specifically the danger that comes with the device BankID in Sweden. Today BankID is widely used but electronical identification also comes with certain security risks regarding identity related crimes. In Sweden, the crime type which increased the most last year 2018 measured in reported crimes was fraud mainly committed through information technology. This thesis therefore aim to investigate what the safety risks are using electronical identification, such as BankID and how the police force and Swedish Economic Crime Authority combat cybercrimes in this area. The result show that the main security risk with BankID is the customers that can be deceived. Perpetrators use different methods to get access to another individuals BankID. Regarding how the police force and Swedish Economic Crime Authority combat crimes against electronical identification, the result is partly defective due to that the Swedish Economic Crime Authority not being represented in this thesis. However, from the police perspective, they investigate fraud regarding BankID as all other crimes but it has in general a lower priority within the authority. The police cooperate with different actors and help both with development of the product security and inform customers about safety and risks regarding BankID.

The examination of career motivations, experiences and perceptions among Asian American public relations practitioners

Qiu, Jing January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Journalism and Mass Communications / Nancy W. Muturi / This study examines Asian American practitioners’ career motivations, identity-related experiences, and their general perceptions of the public relations industry. Social identity theory serves as the theoretical background of the study, as identity is the core element in understanding practitioners’ working experiences in public relations. A qualitative, in-depth interview method was adopted by the current study. A total of 19 Asian American public relations practitioners were email-interviewed. The study has numerous findings based on the research questions and the emerging themes. In examining why practitioners entered the field of public relations, the study showed that personal interests, industrial attraction, and family influence are key issues in career motivations for practitioners. In examining practitioners’ identities, differences exist between Asians and Asian Americans, and between Asians of different nationalities, although practitioners generally agreed being identified as “Asian Americans”. Their identities had no direct effects on their daily work in public relations; however, subtle challenges and benefits were detected. Challenges facing practitioners were mostly based on stereotypical mindsets, including stereotypes in physical appearance, personality, language and culture. Benefits of being an Asian American in the public relations field included language and cultural advantage, contribution to diversity in the workplace, accessibility to minority organizations, and Asian American unique personal traits. Finally, the study found practitioners’ perceptions of Asian American in public relations were concentrated in the following areas: lacking Asian Americans in the public relations industry, wide opportunities for a career in public relations, professional skills for success in public relations, and increasing Asian American presence in public relations. The current study extends the literature on Asian American public relations practitioners, brings awareness to the subgroup of Asian Americans, and contributes to enhance the presence of Asian Americans to the public relations industry. Strategies of increasing Asian American public relations practitioners are also provided based on participants’ recommendations.

Λαμπρόπουλος, Κωνσταντίνος 17 September 2012 (has links)
This PhD thesis entitled “Design and implementation of a system for the management and unification of users’ diverse identities in next generation networks” examines the organization and management of users’ identity data in a unified network environment composed by diverse networks, technologies and services. The dissertation, initially examines the proposed future Internet architectures and services and among the identified problems, it focuses on the management of Digital Identities (Identity Management – IdM). Until now, the proposed solutions are only functional if specific conditions are met, such as the implementation of new global identifiers or creating large scale federations of trust. In practice though, these conditions cannot be enforced in large-scale networks. Contrary to these approaches, this dissertation proposes the design of a system capable of helping the individual contexts (federations, networks, service providers, etc.) to independently deal with their own identity management problems that appear in their services. To achieve this, initially we prove that it is necessary to separate the process of discovering identity related data from the all the rest of the identity management procedures (e.g. data exchange between providers). Based on this approach we created DIMANDS, a system which allows providers to discover the necessary data required to complete a specific service, while enabling them to manage autonomously the remaining procedures associated with this service. The system meets all the requirements of security, trust, privacy and performance of a large scale identity management system. This is evidenced by simulations made in the OPNET simulation environment. Finally it must be noted that a demo based on the system’s functionality was implemented in Ruby on Rails environment.

Identitet i arbete(t) : Chefers reflektioner om arbetets dimensioner / Identity at work : Managers’ reflections about dimensions at work

Zambrell, Katarina January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to identify, describe and develop the understanding of what aspects at work are important for individuals' identity construction. In this understanding-oriented study the empirical data consists of three different groups: middle managers, cultural workers and “Airis-managers”. I have interpreted and analysed the 75 respondents’ stories, and in their experiences found similar patterns. My conclusion is that there are different dimensions at work that may affect the identity construction. My research question: What is it about work that is experienced as important for individuals’ identity construction? can be answered with the five different identity-related dimensions that I have identified: the enabling dimension, the legitimating dimension, the strengthening dimension, the touching dimension and the constraining dimension. All these dimensions, except the constraining dimension, contribute positively to identity construction. The constraining dimension can be compensated if the other positively confirming dimensions dominate. The identity construction for each individual appears different depending on what dimensions he/she experiences. That is why work’s impacts on the individual's identity construction vary. In order to illustrate the developed typology of identity-related dimensions, I created a model that aims to facilitate understanding of what aspects at work that may be important for the personal identity. When raising awareness of these dimensions, efforts to strengthen the most important dimensions can be made. Through their leadership and ways of organizing work, managers may influence their employees’ opportunities to construct and strengthen their identity. Much of the identity research discusses the more conscious identity work. In my third study my empirical data consists of managers’ who have brought artists into their organizations, i.e. conducted an artistic intervention called Airis. My interpretation is that implementing an artistic intervention can be considered as a way to challenge and develop the managers’ identity and be a part of their identity work. This thesis deals with “identity at work” (to reconnect to the title). People seldom discuss “identity construction” but that does not mean that identity issues are unimportant. On the contrary, people often talk about their jobs and their work experiences. What this "talk" really means is what this thesis highlights: Identity is constructed and confirmed at work, especially when others are told about the work-related experiences.

Who are we and what do we measure? : A case study of the dynamic relationship between performance measurement and organizational identity

Källgren, Marcus, Vejbrink Kildal, Adrian January 2022 (has links)
Performance measurements have been described as a tool by which management can communicate expected standards of behavior as well as a shared meaning among members regarding the intended direction of the firm. In parallel, the organizational identity field relies on the premise that members can answer the question “who are we as an organization?” through a sense of shared understanding. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the implications a performance measurement system has on the employees’ perception of “who we are“, related to the theoretical framework of organizational identity. This paper utilizes a qualitative research method, a case-based approach of a Swedish life science company which is conducted in an exploratory manner. The case company is chosen due to its contextual setting regarding the newly implemented performance measurement system, along with the inherent characteristics of the industry in general, which is typically considered to be incongruent with such quantitative measurements. The empirical data is collected through eight interviews with members from the chosen case company, as well as through internal documents describing its performance measurement system. The authors propose a revised theoretical framework in which performance measurements and organizational identity are investigated through a conceptual model which explores their dynamic relationship. The findings reinforce well-known ideas of performance measurements and organizational identity, along with providing new insights on the dynamics between them.
