Customer Behaviour and Marketing Channels in High-end Experiential Travel Market

Pruthi, Chetan, Tewari, Adarsh January 2020 (has links)
This report is a qualitative analysis of consumption behaviour of high net worth individuals (HNIs) and the marketing channels that are effective in the high-end travel industry. The travel industry caters to a vast audience and it becomes important to understand a specific niche to serve the customers better. For products targeted exclusively towards the HNI segment, conventional mass marketing methods may not be the best or the most efficient ways to reach out to the target market. Mass marketing may result in lower perceived exclusivity and brand image of the company, and it may result in lower efficiency in terms of marketing costs when the target market is merely a small percentage of the total population. The study utilizes articles and theories on consumption behavior as well as marketing theories aimed towards HNIs in order to understand and analyse the data gathered during interviews. The report outlines the factors that influence the customer behavior and consumption practices in the high-end travel industry and based on their behavior outlines effective marketing channels that could be used in order to reach the customers. The major factors influencing customer behavior such as family influence, their motivations to travel, influence of friends and groups as well as their expectations were analyzed based on which effective marketing channels were found such as agents or agencies, popular magazines as well as social media. This report provides a comprehensive understanding of the importance of recognizing the influential behavioral factors in the HNI community in order to develop an effective marketing strategy to help the companies reach their customers better.

Black Individuals' Lived Experiences with Racial Microaggressions and Implications in Counseling

Browne-James, Letitia V. 01 January 2018 (has links)
The problem of racial microaggressions in the United States has important implications for counseling due to the mental and physical health concerns individuals who experience them may develop. Although the current literature addresses racial microaggressions among Black individuals and implications for counseling, no qualitative studies that included the voices of Black individuals using relational cultural theory were found. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore the lived experiences of Black individuals who have encountered racial microaggressions and learn their perspectives on what counselors can do to help them in counseling. Adding this perspective will help fill this gap in counseling literature and aid counselors in promoting mental wellness among Black clients. Through semi structured interviews, 7 Black adults living in Florida shared their lived experiences with racial microaggressions and gave perspectives on how counselors can serve Black clients in counseling. Interpretive phenomenological analysis was the research design used in the study, in concordance the 6-step approach used to analyze the data, and relational cultural theory was the theoretical framework. The following 7 themes emerged from the study: lived experiences with racial microaggressions, emotional responses to racial microaggressions, intersectionality, coping with racial microaggressions, advocacy and social justice, neighborhood and community social support, and implications for counseling. These results provided implications for social change because they can add to counselors' knowledge on how to improve services to Black clients, which can improve their lives.

Middle and High School Principals' Knowledge of Discipline Provisions of the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act in the Upper East Tennessee Region.

Woods, Ginger R. 01 December 2004 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this study was to determine school principals’ knowledge of discipline provisions of The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments of 1997 and to determine what additional training opportunities may be needed to ensure that school systems in the upper East Tennessee region are in compliance under IDEA. As instructional leaders, it is imperative that principals understand their responsibilities and the importance of adhering to the legal obligations under IDEA. Principals who do not comply with the act not only deny students the education to which they are entitled but also expose the school system to costly litigation. The Survey of Knowledge about the Discipline Provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments as developed by Lyons (2003) was used to obtain the middle and high school principals’ knowledge of IDEA ’97 discipline provisions. The survey instrument contained 12 demographic questions and 35 knowledge-level questions. The knowledge-level section of the survey contained seven questions from each of the five identified areas of knowledge found in the discipline provisions: (a) manifestation determinations, (b) functional behavior assessments, (c) behavior intervention plans, (d) interim alternative educational settings, and (e) general procedural safeguards. The findings of this research project were analyzed using the software program SAS System for Elementary Statistical Analysis version 8.0. Descriptive statistics in the form of total score mean and standard deviation were used to determine school principals’ knowledge of IDEA ’97's discipline amendments. The data analyzed for this study reflected that principals in the upper East Tennessee region need additional training regarding the discipline provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. The provisions least understood by school administrators included: (a) manifestation determinations, (b) functional behavior assessments, (c) behavior intervention plans, (d) interim alternative educational settings, and (e) general procedural safeguards.

Exploring The Relationship Between Marital Expectations And Marital Satisfaction Between Married African Immigrant Couples And U

Ngazimbi, Evadne 01 January 2009 (has links)
Marriage is still considered a universal institution in many countries worldwide. Marriage provides benefits for wives, husbands, children, families, and communities. Why Marriage Matters (Wilcox et al., 2005), outlined the benefits of marriage, including improved physical and mental health, biological and social benefits for husbands, wives, children and families in America. In sub-Saharan Africa benefits emanating from marriage included increased survival rates for young children (Omariba & Boyle, 2007); reduced maternal morbidity and mortality rates for women due to reduced risks from self-inflicted abortions (Garenne, Tollman, Kahn, Collins, & Ngwenya, 2001); and improved economic management in homes due to exchanging gender-specific tasks within households (Gezon, 2002). Despite these benefits, approximately half the marriages in the United States end in divorce (Raley & Bumpass, 2003; Smith, 2007). Reduced marital satisfaction leads to dissolution of marriages in the U. S. Marital expectations were associated with marital satisfaction (Juvva & Bhatti, 2006). The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between marital expectations and marital satisfaction between African immigrant and United States born married couples. The independent variable was marital expectations, measured with the Marital Expectations Questionnaire (MEQ, Ngazimbi & Daire, 2008). The dependent variables were marital satisfaction, measured by the Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS, Hendrick, 1988), and the Relationship Pleasure Scale (RPS, PAIRS Foundation, 1993). The participants were recruited from nine sites in six states located in three geographical regions. The regions were the Midwest, the West and the Pacific Northwest. They were recruited through faith-based leaders. Participants consisted of 87 couples and 35 individuals who participated without their spouses. This was a mixed methods design. In the quantitative section, three instruments were used to collect data: the MEQ, the RAS, and the RPS. The first section of the MEQ contained four open-ended questions which were used to collect qualitative data. Significant differences were found in the relationships between marital expectations and marital satisfaction between African immigrants and non-immigrants. Qualitative differences and similarities were found between African immigrant and U. S. born married couples. Implications of the findings are discussed for research, counselor education and clinical practice.

A Study of Practices in Texas Schools Relating to Gifted Education in the Visual Arts

Netherland, Elizabeth 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to determine a definitive description of "artistic giftedness." A questionnaire was sent to Texas art teachers to find what characteristics they attribute to the artistically gifted, how they determine this, and what program goals they set. The wide variety of survey responses indicates the diversity of artistically gifted individuals. The high rating on all items indicates that all could be used as identifiers (higher rated characteristics identifying a larger population, lower rated ones, a smaller population). Responses to items dealing with identification indicate nontest methods to be most widely used. No connection was found between goals chosen and either characteristics or methods.

"Malmö måste sluta vara generösare med försörjningsstöd" : En kritisk diskursanalys som synen på försörjningsstöd och bidragstagare i svenska tidningar / "Malmö needs to stop being more generous with financial aid" : A critical discourse analysis of the preception of financial aid and recipients in swedish newspapers

Al-Salih, Sana, Lindbom, Maja January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to examine the discourse in Swedish newspapers  around financial aid and financial aid recipients. Furthermore it is of interest to examine what consequences this discourse could mean for the individuals in question. The method used to answer the purpose of this paper is critical discourse analysis. After reading the newspaper articles three themes were identified. The analysis was split up into three themes which were that Malmö is a generous city, referencing the amount they pay out in financial aid, that the discourse revolved around unemployment and unemployment programs and mentions of foreign-born individuals. Each theme was analyzed with Fairclough’s three dimensional model. The results show that financial aid recipients are stigmatized. There is limited discussion in Swedish newspapers about the limitations and opportunities that financial aid seekers face. This is because the articles in the newspaper are using statistics and official reports to criticize politicians, socialworkes as well as the financial aid recipients.

Kebab Med Potatismos : En litteraturstudie om den multikulturella individens identitetsutveckling / Kebab with mashed potatoes : A literature review about the identity development of the multicultural individual

Ismail, Hanna, Safaa Abdulrazak, Roza January 2022 (has links)
The aim of the study was to compile previous research about multiculturalism and identity to study multiculturalism's effects on identity development. Our research questions were: “How does culture affect the construction of the individual’s identity?” and “How does the individual cope with the experiences of living between different cultures?”. The method chosen was a literature review and eight articles were selected through electronic database searches in OneSearch and ProQuest. The theoretical framework used to analyze the result was “Otherization” and the R/CID model. The study highlights the disadvantages of the lack of belonging to both cultures and how adaptation to one culture creates isolation to the other. When the individual feels safe in their identity, they abandon the ethnocentric mentality and realize that they are a mix of cultures and try to unite these. The study showed that individuals appreciate the journey through the levels as they benefit from the experience. TCI:s believe that belonging comes from shared experiences with people in their surrounding rather than country, culture and ethnicity. The study concludes that the identity development that TCI:s fulfill contributes to them becoming more open-minded and unbiased. Also, lacking a stable environment and being in the middle of several cultures makes it difficult for the individual to reach a secure and confident identity, and therefore TCI:s shift their identity depending on the context in which they find themselves.

Molecular mechanisms of myricetin bulk and nano forms mediating genoprotective and genotoxic effects in lymphocytes from pre-cancerous and myeloma patients

Akhtar, Shabana January 2018 (has links)
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death across the globe which needs appropriate and cost-effective treatment. Several recent studies have suggested that dietary intake of various flavonoids such as myricetin have a protective effect against different types of cancers and cardiovascular diseases. The present study was conducted to investigate the genoprotective and genotoxic effects of myricetin nano and bulk forms on the lymphocytes from pre-cancerous and multiple myeloma cancer patients compared to those from healthy individuals. Also, to investigate the protective potential of myricetin bulk and nano against the oxidative stress produced in vitro by 2- amino-1-methyl-6 phenylimidazo [4, 5-b] pyridine and reactive oxygen species- induced DNA damage using the Comet assay, micronucleus assay, cellular reactive oxygen species and glutathione detection assay, Western blotting, real-time polymerase chain reaction and immunofluorescence. Lymphocytes from the patient groups showed significantly higher levels of basal DNA damage compared to the lymphocytes from healthy individuals which was observed throughout the in vitro treatment. Myricetin in both forms has not induced any significant DNA damage in all of the investigative groups at selective lower concentrations; in fact, the results demonstrate a reduction in DNA damage upon treating with myricetin nano in lymphocytes from pre-cancerous patients demonstrated by significant reduction in micronuclei formation in mononucleated cells. DNA repair capacity of myricetin bulk and nano was determined by co-treating the drugs with hydrogen peroxide. Myricetin significantly reduced the oxidative stress related damage caused by hydrogen peroxide, where myricetin nano seemed to be more effective employing the Comet assay. In the presence of myricetin bulk and nano, the damaging effects of 2- amino-1-methyl-6 phenylimidazo [4,5-b] pyridine were considerably decreased, where myricetin nano was more effective. This could be because nanoparticles have a larger surface area which could improve their reactivity and also the reduction in size of the particles could improve the anti-cancer properties of this compound. Myricetin has shown genoprotective and anti-oxidant effects by demonstrating the potential to reduce DNA damage caused by over-production of reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress. It has also shown anti-cancer potential in the lymphocytes from multiple myeloma patients by regulating the apoptosis related proteins, dependent on oxidative stress. Therefore, this study suggests that myricetin supplementation in our regular diet with enhanced bioavailability could have potential health beneficial effects and possibly protect against various diseases including cancer.
