com base no levantamento de padrões de uso destes. A investigação busca dar
relevo a uma faceta da pesquisa científica que enfatiza a experiência e percepção
do usuárioem sua necessidade da busca informacional. Tem como objetivo geral
analisar e descrever o perfil dos usuários dos repositórios institucionais das
Universidades Federais de Ensino Superior do Brasil. Desdobra-se emobjetivos
específicos que são: analisar o grau de interação dos usuários aos repositórios
institucionais; analisar o perfil de alunos que são usuários dos repositórios
institucionais; verificar a relevância do uso dos repositórios institucionais para as
pesquisas cientificas dos usuários.Classifica-se como pesquisa descritiva,estando
dentro de análises quantitativas, quando há um levantamento de dados e o porquê
destes dados. A metodologia proposta para o estudo foi a pesquisa bibliográfica e
a coleta de dados por meio de questionário de perguntas objetivas e discursivas.
Especifica a amostra com os usuários a qual foramaplicadoos questionáriosnas
seguintes fases: pré-teste, naUniversidade Federal do Pernambuco, teste pilotona
Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Nortee aamostrade 745usuários
dasuniversidades federais do Brasilque participaram da pesquisa.Obteve-se
resultados por meio de umquestionário aplicado nos formatos impresso e digital
(este último aplicado por meio da rede social). Resultou em umaanálise
quantitativa dosusuáriosdosrepositórios institucionais, a qual mostrou que ainda há
pouco uso dos repositórios como fontes de informação e que não há o
conhecimento necessário para o uso da dessa ferramenta. Permitiuestruturar
eanalisarouso em ambiente eletrônicoda ferramenta repositórioinstitucionale
demostrar por meio de dados estatísticos.Conclui-se que ainda permanece o baixo
índice de uso e conhecimento dos repositórios digitais institucionais da
universidades federais pelos seus usuários. / It analyzes the use of institutional repositories of Federal Universities in Brazil
based on the survey of the use of these standards. The investigation seeks to give
relief to onefacet of scientific research that emphasizes the user’sexperience and
perception in your need of informational search. It has the general objective to
analyze and describe the profile of users of institutional repositories of universities
Higher Education Federal of Brazil. It unfolds on specific objectivesthatare: analyze
the degree of user interaction to institutional repositories; analyze the profile of
students who areuserof institutional repositories; examinethe relevance of the use
of institutional repositories for their scientific research.Classifies itself as a
descriptive study, being within quantitative analysis, when there is a data survey
and the cause of these data. The proposed methodology for the study was a
literature search and data collected through questionnaire of theobjective and
discursive questions. Specifies the sample with users, which were, applied
questionnaires in the following phases: pretest, the Federal University of
Pernambuco, pilot test at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and the
sampleof 745userin the federal universities of Brazil who participated in the
search.Obtained results through a questionnaire in digital and printed formats (the
latter applied by the social network). It resulted in a quantitative analysis of users of
institutional repositories, which showed that there is still little use of repositories as
sources of information and that there isnotthe necessary knowledge for the use of
this tool. Allowed to structure andanalyze the use in the electronic environment of
the repository tool,and demonstrate through statistical data. It follows, thatremains
low use rate and knowledge of digital repositories of institutional federal universities
by theusers.

Previous issue date: 2014-03-14 / O trabalho tem como foco central os repositórios digitais entre eles as
bibliotecas digitais e os repositórios institucionais, ferramentas utilizadas para
viabilizar o acesso livre à informação científica – movimento incitado pelas
comunidades científicas existentes em universidades e institutos de pesquisa
para disseminar o resultado das pesquisas. Aborda a importância da produção
e comunicação na Ciência compartilhada em livros e revistas científicas.
Revela o percurso das bibliotecas digitais e repositórios institucionais,
conceitos, objetivos e funções que possibilitaram a interoperabilidade dos
sistemas propiciando o compartilhamento de informações entre as
comunidades científicas e a sociedade em geral por meio do acesso aberto.
Identifica os elementos de sucesso nos repositórios por meio da Revisão
Sistemática da Literatura distribuída em sete fases distintas resultando em três
artigos analisados. Em seguida foram pontuados os desafios, as ações e as
oportunidades de prática de cada elemento detectado nos artigos analisados.
O resultado das análises apontou para um conjunto de ações que deve ser
observado pelos desenvolvedores de repositórios digitais, incluindo projeto,
implantação e gestão. / The work has as its central focus digital repositories among them the digital
libraries and institutional repositories, mechanisms used to facilitate open
access to scientific information – movements incited by scientific communities
existing in universities and research institutes to disseminate the results of
research. It approaches the importance of production and communication in
shared science in books and scientific journals. It reveals the course of digital
libraries and institutional repositories, concepts, goals and functions which
enable the interoperability of systems propitiating the sharing of information
between the scientific communities and society in general through the open
access. It identifies the elements of success in repositories through systematic
literature review distributed into seven distinct stages resulting in three analyzed
articles. Then the challenges, actions and opportunities for practice of each
element detected in the analyzed articles were punctuated. The result of the
analyses pointed to a set of actions that must be observed for developers of
digital repositories, including design, implementation and management.

Usage of open access institutional repositories in University libraries in GhanaKodua-Ntim, Kwame 01 1900 (has links)
Text in English / The study investigated the usage of Open Access Institutional Repositories (OAIR)
in university libraries in Ghana to develop a strategy on how the usage of OAIR in
university libraries in Ghana may be enhanced. The study adopted the Technology
Acceptance Model (TAM), which was then modified to fit the study. Accessibility,
availability and visibility were proposed in addition to the conventional variables of
TAM to improve the fit between the data and the theoretical model. Pragmatism
paradigm, mixed methods research approach and convergent parallel mixed method
design (survey and case study designs) was used for the study. Simple random
sampling, stratified random sampling, purposive sampling techniques and the
sample size converter were the sampling procedures and methods employed.
A total of nine hundred and ninety-eight (998) respondents completed the
questionnaires distributed, but for the qualitative phase twelve (12) OAIR managers
were purposively selected. The questionnaire and interview guide were used as
research instruments to gather relevant data for the study. Descriptive statistics
(frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (multinomial logistic regression and CFA using SEM) were used as statistical tools to
analyse quantitative data and thematic analysis was used to analyse qualitative data.
The study revealed that there was a low level of OAIR usage in universities among
academic staff, notwithstanding the high level of understanding of OAIR. This was
evident in the number of research work uploaded onto the OAIR by the OAIR team.
Inadequate advocacy, ICT connectivity, infrastructure, funding, power supply,
insufficient technological skills, institutional repository policy, absence of incentives,
institutional culture and politics and copyright issues were the challenges facing the
usage of OAIR in university libraries in Ghana.
The study concluded that advocacy, policies, software and staffing enshrined in an
institutional guideline on OAIR would enhance OAIR usage. The study developed an
OAIR Usage Model and OAIR User Manual, which would be very instrumental in the
usage of OAIR in university libraries in Ghana. The model will enhance user
satisfaction and intention to reuse the OAIR and making OAIR research outputs

The thesis focuses on freely available digital libraries in the field of science, research and education in the countries of former Yugoslavia. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part introduces the basic terminology and the issue of freely available digital libraries. The main part of the thesis is based on the findings of freely available digital libraries in the countries of former Yugoslavia. Their structured overview is an annex to this thesis and a commentary on them is given in the practical part. The core of the thesis constitutes the results of analyzes of three digital libraries from the selected region. It aims to analyse, describe,compare and assess selected systems. The practical part presents the descriptions and analysys of the selected systems. Next chapter includes the comparison of their qualitative and quantitative parameters. The conclusion of the work brings final assessment of the knowledge.

Esta pesquisa trata do uso de uma metodologia de design participativo no desenvolvimento de um repositório de recursos educacionais abertos, o Arcaz. Discute aspectos da neutralidade e do determinismo da tecnologia dentro do contexto dos Estudos Sociais da Ciência e da Tecnologia e apresenta alguns conceitos da teoria crítica da tecnologia relacionados à construção democrática dos artefatos tecnológicos. Discute a herança filosófica dos movimentos que levaram ao surgimento do software livre, da educação aberta e dos recursos educacionais abertos e defende que o design participativo compartilha ideais similares. Apresenta conceitos de interação humano-computador e design de interação, além de design centrado no usuário, importantes para aprimorar a experiência do usuário em sistemas de informação. Aborda o design participativo como metodologia que possibilita a participação democrática dos usuários na construção tecnológica, promovendo o aprendizado mútuo e a voz ativa aos participantes. Desenvolve uma metodologia de design participativo adaptada ao contexto de uso do Arcaz e apresenta os procedimentos para a realização das reuniões conduzidas para aplicar as técnicas de design participativo ao repositório e os resultados obtidos. Conclui com um estudo de algumas das intervenções sugeridas no sistema e orientações para futuras aplicações de práticas participativas no desenvolvimento do repositório e uma lista de boas práticas, com foco nos princípios éticos que devem guiar o design participativo. / This research deals with the use of a participatory design methodology to develop a repository of open educational resources, the Arcaz. Discusses key aspects of neutrality and determinism of technology within the context of Social Studies of Science and Technology and presents some concepts of critical theory of technology related to the democratic construction of technological artifacts. Discusses the philosophical heritage of the movements that led to the emergence of free software, open education and open educational resources and argues that participatory design share similar ideals. It presents concepts of human-computer interaction, interaction design and user centered design, important to enhance the user experience in information systems. It addresses the participatory design as a methodology that allows the democratic participation of users in the technological construction, promoting mutual learning and active voice for the participants. Develops a participatory design methodology adapted to the Arcaz context of use and provides the procedures for the meetings conducted to apply participatory design techniques to the repository and the results obtained. It concludes with a study of some of the interventions suggested in the system and orientations for future applications of participatory practices in the development of the repository and a list of best practices, focusing on ethical principles that should guide the participatory design.
