Estudo da musculatura flexora de dedos a partir da análise das curvas força-tempo / Study of the flexor muscles of fingers from the analysis of the force-time curvesGorla, Júlia Andreza 01 November 2018 (has links)
Introduction - The analysis of the manual grip force along time presents the biomechanical movement of muscle groups data, with emphasis on the deep and superficial flexor musculature of the fingers, as well as provides relevant information for the functional performance of daily activities. Objectives - To analyze the force-time curves of the palmar grip under the aspects of its discrete parameters and its temporal characteristic. Either, to identify the the influence of the flexor muscles of fingers in the palmar grip. Method - The volunteers performed the maximum isometric effort test using the Jamar® dynamometer and the computerized force transducer with two grips, one that allowed the action of the flexor superficial finger muscle, and another that blocks it. The force-time curves generated from 9 individuals were analyzed in both their discrete parameters and their temporal characteristics. Results - The medium of maximum strength obtained with Jamar® at Position 1, without distinction between gender, (30.76 Kgf) approached the national average for women (30.4 Kgf). In both the Jamar® and the force transducer tests, the discrete values were higher in Position 1 (Fmax Jamar®: 30.76 / 25.14 kgf; Fmax transducer: 22.16 / 17.37 kgf; Tmax: 1.41 / 1.54 sec; Finf: 7.06 / 5.80 kgf). The strength maintenance phase, equivalent to the resistive force, had a smaller decrease in the tests performed in Position 2 (-1.02 / -0.61). In addition, the values obtained between the dynamometers show that the Jamar® overestimates the maximum force values. Conclusions - The data points that there is a difference between the action of the flexor profound muscle group of the fingers and the flexor superficial one in the capacity of maintaining the force, showing that the profound group is more effective than combined with the superficial flexor, thus, the first one has great functional importance for performing activities of daily life. It evidences that the analysis of force on its temporary characteristics is more elucidative of the muscular performance during the grip force than the punctual dynamometric tests.

Previous issue date: 2013-01-20 / This work aims to characterize the fatigue from myoelectric signals and use them as an aid to the diagnosis of rheumatic diseases such as Fibromyalgia. The condition for this is the analysis of muscle fatigue. Through the evaluation of myoelectric signals, the behavior of muscle in some work situations was measured, such as isotonic and isometric muscle contraction, which describes the static and dynamic motor behavior. With the myoelectric signals, digital filtering techniques were applied to mitigate the noise corrupting the myoelectric signal. Then some algorithms were implemented to detect fatigue. With that, a protocol for assessing motor response based on the condition of muscle fatigue was established. In this situation, with the working muscle, the myoelectric signal acquisition was made from surface electrodes, using a commercial acquisition system. The data were processed in MATLAB R platform; algorithms were implemented for the identification of fatigue, such as RMS, MNF, ARV, MDF and AIF. In the final result, it was found that for both isometric tasks and isotonic tasks, it is recommended the use of constant weight with 60% of MCV, using MNF and RMS indicators, which were the most consistent indicators among them / Este trabalho tem a finalidade de caracterizar a fadiga a partir da coleta de sinais mioelétricos e usá-lo como ajuda no diagnóstico de doenças reumáticas, como a fibromialgia.

Previous issue date: 2007-02-27 / The objective of this study was to investigate the acute and chronic
effects of high intensity resistance physical exercise on the magnitude of maximal
average torque response normalized by body mass (MAT), RMS amplitude of
eletromyographic signals (EMGs) of the vastus lateralis and heart rate variation
(∆HR). Subjects were nine non-smoking men (ages 61.7+1.7 years, weight
72.5+6.5 Kg., height 1.69+0.06 meters) with an active lifestyle, who did not use
medications or any type of drug, and were evaluated as healthy by laboratory tests
and clinical examination. The experimental protocol was carried out with the
volunteer in seated position with hip flexed at 85º in a computerized isokinetic
dynamometer (Biodex Multi Joint System III) and consisted of 6 tests of maximal
voluntary contraction (MVC): 10 sec. of isometric knee flexion at 30º (IEx) and
isometric extension at 60º (IF); 5 MVC concentric of the knee at 60º/s (C60) and 8
at 120º/s (C120); 5 MVC eccentric of the knee at 60º/sec. (E60) and 8 at 120º/sec.
(E120). The values for MAT were normalized for body mass (N.m/Kg). EMGs of
the vastus lateralis were registered; RMS amplitude values of eletromyographic
signals were calculated and then normalized for RMS of MVC isometric knee
extension at 60o. HR was recorded beat to beat in bpm for 60 seconds at rest,
during tests and for 120s during recuperation, by a one-channel heart monitor (TC
500 ECAFIX), interfaced to a microcomputer (PC-AT 486 DX-4) by an analogdigital
converter (Lab.PC + National Instruments, Co.). The volunteers were
monitored at modified MC5 derivation. For the variables studied (MAT, EMGs and
HR), the mean of 3 repetitions of each test was calculated for later statistical
analysis. At an intensity of 70-80% of MVC, the volunteers performed 2-4 series of
8-12 repetitions of eccentric resistance exercises in twice weekly sessions at
angular velocity of 60º/s for three months. The intensity was corrected from
fortnightly evaluations of the torque peak. At the end of the training period the
same ones were revalued. The MAT eccentric was similar to the isometric and
both were superior to the concentric in both flexion and extension. The MAT in C60
was greater than C120 for flexion and extension. The RMS of the concentric tests
were superior to the eccentric (P<0,05). The ∆HR (heart rate variation) for the
isometric tests was smaller than those for the dynamic (P<0,05). After training was
verified: significant increase of MAT eccentric at 60o/s and 120o/s for flexion and
extensior; increase in RMS at IEx, C60Ex, E60Ex e E120Ex; ∆HR was greater in
the concentric tests at 120o/s and eccentric at 60o/s. The data suggest that: greater
MAT and lower EMG values during eccentric exercise, when compared to values
obtained during concentric contractions, may be attributed to an additional
contribution of passive elastic components to the greater force during eccentric
contractions; the ∆HR depends on the mechanics of the exercise (static or
dynamic) and is independent of torque level, magnitude of muscular activation and
angular velocity during short duration exercise; after resistance training only MAT
adaptations were observed to be mode specific as no such adaptations occurred in
relation to EMGs and ∆HR.
14
de treinamento os mesmos foram reavaliados. O TMM excêntrico for similar ao

Previous issue date: 2016-03-23 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) / The first study aimed to verify the relationship between baroreflex sensitivity (BRS)
and carotid intima media thickness (IMT) considering a large set of SBR values. 56
men aged between 40-65 years were divided into 3 groups: healthy (H, n = 19), patients
with coronary artery disease (CAD, n = 18) and CAD patients with diabetes mellitus
(DM) type 2 (CAD-DM, n = 19). The BRS was evaluated in supine (SUP) and standing
(STAND) positions through time domain, spectral and cross-spectral and closed-loop
model based approaches. The IMT was evaluated over the right and left common
carotid arteries. We conclude that the relationship between IMT and BRS is maintained
even when considering a wide range of BRS values, supporting the idea that a
noninvasive BRS estimate could be used to track modifications in cardiac baroreflex
control. The second study aimed to investigate the cardiovascular (CV) responses
during submaximal isometric contractions (handgrip) performed in different postures.
30 men aged 40-65 years were divided into 2 groups: healthy (H, n = 15) and patients
with coronary artery disease (CAD, n = 15). Systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood
pressure, heart rate (HR) and peripheral vascular resistance (PVR) were measured at
rest (BASELINE), exercise peak (PEAK) and in the 1st (REC1) and 9th (REC9) minute
of recovery. The subjects performed four submaximal handgrip contractions at 15, 30,
45 and 60% of maximum voluntary contraction performed in supine (SUP), seated
(SEAT) and STAND positions. In conclusion, lower CV stress was observed in SUP for
the H group while the CAD group had a worse exercise position responsiveness when
compared to the H group regarding SBP, DBP and PVR. So, the general conclusion is
that there is an inverse relationship between BRS and IMT and its relationship is
dependent of the method used to calculate BRS and, regarding the CV responses to
isometric exercise, the supine posture promotes low CV stress in healthy subjects while
the CAD group has higher SBP peak and worse exercise position responsiveness
regarding SBP, DBP and PVR.
controlar alterações do controle baroreflexo cardíaco. Na sequência, o Estudo II
objetivou investigar as respostas cardiovasculares (CV) durante diferentes percentuais
A pressão
arterial sistólica (PAS) e diastólica (PAD), frequência cardíaca (FC) e resistência
vascular periférica (RVP) foram mensuradas durante repouso (REP), pico do exercício
(PICO) e no 1º (REC1) e 9º (REC9) minuto da recuperação. Os sujeitos realizaram
quatro contrações submáximas: 15, 30, 45 and 60% da contração voluntária máxima nas

More recently, it has been observed that resistance exercise is also safe and beneficial for patients with heart disease. However, the mechanisms involved in its effects on skeletal muscle are not yet fully understood. Few researchers have evaluated the effects of resistance exercise on cellular signaling pathways related to maintenance of skeletal muscle mass during the MI-induced cardiac remodeling process. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of resistance exercise on phenotypic and molecular changes that occur in skeletal muscle after MI. Methods: Three months after MI induction, Wistar rats were divided into Sham (n = 14), sedentary MI (MI-Sed, n = 9), and resistance exercise MI (MI-R, n = 13) groups. The rats were trained three times a week for three months in a climbing ladder protocol. Functional capacity was assessed by maximum load capacity and treadmill physical exercise tolerance test. Transthoracic echocardiography was performed before and after training. The infarction size and soleus muscle cross sectional area were evaluated by morphometry. The protein expression of the IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor-1) / Akt (protein kinase B) / mTOR (rapamycin target complex) pathway was analyzed by Western blot. The activity of antioxidant enzymes catalase, superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase was evaluated by spectrophotometry. Oxidative... Previous issue date: 2007-02-26 / Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais / The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of eccentric strength training
(ST) on autonomic control of heart rate (HR) evaluated at rest and during isometric exercise.
Nine healthy men (62 ±2 years old) were submitted to 12 weeks of ST for knee extensors and
flexors muscles (2x/week, 2-4 series of 8-12 repetitions, 70-80% of eccentric peak torque).
Before and after the ST, the HR and its variability were evaluated at rest (supine and seated
conditions) and during the sub-maximal isometric contractions (SIC; 15, 30 and 40% of
maximal voluntary contraction) of knee extension wich were performed during 240s or until
exhaustion. The HR was obtained at pre- (60s), during and post SIC (120s). Then, the
variation (∆) between the resting HR and HR at 10, 30, 60s and end of contraction observed
during each SIC was analyzed. The HR variability was evaluated by the RMSSD index,
which was determined in resting condition and during SIC (i.e., two windows of 30s in
duration at the beginning and end of R-R interval data). The ANOVA two-way (repeated
measures) and t-test was utilized for statistical analysis (p < 0.05). The ST increased the
eccentric torque (extension: 210 ± 38 to 252.7 ± 61 N.m, flexion: 117.6 ± 25.1 to 133 ± 27.3
N.m) , but did not change the HR and HR variability at rest (HR supine: 62 ± 11 to 65 ± 9
bpm, HR seated: 62 ± 11 to 66 ± 9, RMSSD supine: 28.5 ± 18 to 21.5 ± 8.4, RMSSD seated:
30.4 ± 2 to 18.9 ± 6.2). The ST did not modify the isometric peak torque (177.6 ± 25 to 195.2
± 31,2 N.m) and the time of execution of each SIC (15%: 240 to 240s, 30%: 203.4 ± 55 to
218 ± 5s, 40%: 135.6 ± 56.7 to 144.6 ± 55.6s). During the SIC, the pattern of HR response
(significative increase in ∆HR from 30s to the end of contraction in 15 and 40%) and the
RMSSD index (significative decrease from the first 30s to the last 30s of contraction in all
levels of effort) was similar for the pre- and post training. Despite the ST increased the
eccentric torque, it did not generate changes in the autonomic control of heart rate at rest and
during the SIC. / The aging process is marked by several physiological changes, and the reduction in muscle strength is very important one. In order to minimize this force decline there are recommendations for using resistance training for elderly persons. Some studies available in the literature state that the eccentric contraction would be more suitable for the elderly, since it generates less cardiovascular overload during the exercise. However, the chronic effect of the eccentric strength training (EST) on the heart rate (HR) autonomic modulation is unclear. So, the aim of the first study was to investigate whether the EST changes HR and heart rate variability (HRV) during submaximal isometric contractions (SIC). This study included 17 volunteers who form divided into two groups: training group (9 men, 62 ± 2 years) and control group (8 men, 64 ± 4 years). The results indicate that although this type of training improves eccentric strength, the EST does not have any effect sufficient to promote changes in the autonomic control of HR during isometric exercise. Another important factor to consider is the increase in incidence of cardiovascular disease that occurs with aging. Furthermore, there are modifications of autonomic control of HR related to ageing that are detected by the reduction in HRV and changes in the complexity of physiological dynamics. Based on these considerations the aim of the second study was to verify whether changes in HR modulation, caused by the aging process, can be detected by the Shannon entropy (SE), conditional entropy (CE) and symbolic analysis (SA). In this study were evaluated 21 elderly (63 ± 3 years) and 21 young (23 ± 2 years). Elderly present distributions of patterns in HRV that are similar to young subjects. However, the patterns are more repetitive, thus reducing the complexity. This decrease of complexity comes from the increased presence of stable patterns and a decreased presence of highly variable patterns. This difference indicates that apparently healthy older subjects have a marked unbalance in autonomic regulation. The results of the second study indicate that non-linear approaches might be helpful to better characterize the changes on the autonomic control of HR in the aging process.

The chronic kidney disease (CKD) is characterized by lost in kidney filtration capacity. These patients with CKD have decreased levels of muscle strength, physical functioning, which is connected with daily activities and quality of life. The physical activity can be employed as a non pharmacologic procedure, but to programming a physical training is necessary evaluated the features to be work. The standard of evaluations must be observed to ensure pureness of datum collected. The evaluation of strength-time curve can be one methodology used to clarify the muscle contraction behavior. So, we proposed a methodology of curve analysis of patients with CKD, using non linear and linear mathematic parameter mode, which when evaluated allow us make correspondence with muscle contraction physiology. The sample was determined by 31 patients (51±15 years old, 69,94±13,34 kg e 1,65±0,08 meters) with CKD and 4 individuals with high blood pressure (37 ± 14 years old, 75,1 ± 16,5 kg e 1,72 ± 0,12 meters), they were evaluated by handgrip test in 2 moments with 2 different dynamometers. Significative differences were not observe between values of maximal strength, between members and parameters [b] (p=0,18), [c] (p=0,35) e [d] (p=0,05). Merely the values of preload (p = 0,00000014),, of [a] parameter (p=0,00078), and the values of patients strength between dynamometers were significant different: right (p = 0,00003) and left (p = 0,0001). Using the parameters of strength-time curve become a methodology with good price, non-invasive and could be applied easily in the evaluations. The necessity of new instigations employed the analysis methods is evident.
