The Picture book - text and image in interaction. A study of Tove Jansson's picturebook: The Book About Moomin, Mymble and Little MyThis study examines Tove Jansson's picture book The Book About Moomin, Mymbleand Little My, to show relationships between text and image in the narration of thestory. This is done through an analysis based on Ulla Rhedins dissertation The picturebook - towards a theory where the conclusion is that the picture book as book mediumcan be divided in three different picture concepts. The various concepts are; the epicpicture book, the expanding text as well as the genuine picture book. This study hasperformed a text and image analysis showing that the image colors, the differentspreads, landscape scenes and characters' placement, et cetera play a role in placingthe picture book in its concept.Tove Jansson used more than text and image to work out the story of theMoomintroll, Mymble and Little My, there are holes in the picture book that have animportant role, which the analysis will show. According to the analysis performed inthis study The Book About Moomin, Mymble and Little My is a good example of the genuine picture book.

Målet med denna undersökning har varit att ta fram lämpligt bibliotek i programspråket C för generering och parsning av JSON (JavaScript Object Notation). Biblioteket ska användas för att bygga ett nytt API mot Svenska Spels transaktionssystem som ska underlätta för klientutvecklare att anropa systemet. Undersökningen har begränsats till utvärdering två utvalda bibliotek, YAJL (Yet Another Json Library) och Jansson. För att kunna jämföra och analysera dessa har jag implementerat ett testprogram som mäter deras prestanda vid generering och parsning av ett antal utvalda JSON objekt. Jag har även undersökt biblioteken utifrån användarvänlighet och robusthet. I uppdraget har även ingått att undersöka om det går att skapa ett eget bibliotek som har bättre prestanda än de båda utvalda. Efter utvärdering av resultaten från dessa undersökningar har jag tillslut kommit fram till vilket av biblioteken som är bäst anpassat för Svenska Spels behov. / The objective of this study was to find a suitable library in the C programming language for generating and parsing JSON (JavaScript Object Notation). The library will be used to build a new API for Svenska Spels transaction system which will make it easier for client developers to invoke the system. The study has been limited to evaluation of two selected libraries, YAJL (Yet Another Json Library) and Jansson. In order to compare and analyze them I have implemented a test program that measures the performance of generation and parsing of a selected number of JSON objects. I have also examined the libraries based on user-friendliness and robustness. The task has also been to study the feasibility of creating a library which has better performance than the two selected. After evaluating the results of these studies, I have finally come to the conclusion of which library is most adapted to Svenska Spels needs.

The essay examines the presence of queer desires and characters in Tove Jansson's books about the Moomins, mainly with a focus on: Finn Family Moomintroll (Trollkarlens hatt, 1948), Moominsummer Madness (Farlig midsommar, 1954) and Tales from Moominvalley (Det osynliga barnet, 1962). These three books are examined one by one and in chronological order, so as to be able to find whether the presence and character of queer representation changes over time. The idea is that this work should fill a gap in the research by exploring norm defying sexuality, gender identity and gender expression, since the books about the Moomins previously have been analyzed through a heteronormative perspective. The result shows that the books frequently feature queer relationships and characters, but also that the nuclear family and heteronormative ideas are maintained and upheld by the Moomin family.

<p>Uppsatsen undersöker bilden av Muminpappan ur ett manlighetsperspektiv. Efter en teoretisk grund i maskulinitetsteori och en bakgrund till Tove Janssons skapande av Muminpappan går uppsatsen igenom muminsviten bok för bok och analyser görs av pappans beteende, hans manlighet, hans papparoll och slitningen mellan familj och äventyr. Denna slitning visas ha samband med pappans slitning mellan två maskulinitetstyper, den hegemoniska maskuliniteten och den moderna, ömsinta maskuliniteten.</p>
