The study of building web-based learning community based on digital library with support of knowledge construction tool

Lin, Yi Shan Unknown Date (has links)
As the rapid changes of on-line environment and prevalence of social networking websites, not only has the on-line users’ behavior changed, but also it implies the perfect time to develop better learning community with the advantages of technology innovation. Taking the Digital library (DL) as example, it has been developed into the perfect portal with accumulation of high quality information with and reader-centered services, including personalized information services and searching functions. However, comparing with other social networking sites, DL has been considered less value on building on readers’ learning communities, or not suitable sites to share information or communicate with other readers. The purpose of the study is to promote people cohesiveness at the web-based learning community platform and to improve the usage of digital library resources. Based on the advantage of web-based learning communities, the study analyzes the possible models and outcomes for learning communities on DL. In addition, the study attempts to survey ways to make better environment for readers actively interacting with others more; moreover, utilizing the digital libraries to construct knowledge. Taking the “Knowledge Forum” as web-based learning community platform, the study adopted the quasi-experimental methodology to investigate the social networks and knowledge construction behavior of the learning community on DL. The statistics analysis scheme was employed to evaluate the specific model of community building for web-based learning, and its effectiveness for promoting DL as learning support. The results of this study are concluded as following. First, compared with other methods for community building, the recommendation and motivation system are more beneficial for participation on web-based learning community. Second, integrating the resources of DL with web-based learning community is helpful for the diversity of subject topics and concepts in on-line discussion. Third, academic field experts for subject matter discussion are helpful for better DL resources utilization during the process of web-based learning.

Learning community constructing their knowledge of natural science history in a computer-supported collaborative learning environment

Unknown Date (has links)

When the Entire World is pushed into the Classroom : Reflections on Communication, Interculturalism and Education and on Intercultural Education in the Danish Upper Secondary School

Hobel, Peter January 2013 (has links)
In this article intercultural education is discussed, cases from the Danish upper secondary school are analyzed, and some requirements for further development are proposed. First definitions of the concepts communication, communicative action, intercultural communication and intercultural education are given. Starting from these definitions it is argued that intercultural communication as well as intercultural education is possible. Then two cases are analyzed. Finally – in the Discussion – it is underlined that the students’ metareflection on the context dependence of the knowledge construction process is a pivotal precondition for successful intercultural education.

Studenters skrivande i två kunskapsbyggande miljöer / Students' writing in two knowledge-constructing settings

Blåsjö, Mona January 2004 (has links)
The subject of this study is student writing in its institutional setting, examining students’ texts, professional discourse and educational practices. Fieldwork for the study was conducted at the departments of History and Economics of Stockholm University. The general aim of the study is to increase our understanding of the relationships between student writing, educational settings and professional discourse. The theoretical framework is the sociocultural approach as outlined by Wertsch from Bakhtin and Vygotsky, and applied on writing research by above all Dysthe. The theoretical-methodological attempts are an operationalisation of the concept of dialogicity in different aspects and an application of the concept of mediational means at the linguistic level of text type or speech act. The type of dialogicity and epistemology of a setting is shown to have major influences on students’ writing. The epistemology of economics is defined as rationalistic, and that of history as critical-pluralistic. In economics, linear logical reasoning with clear-cut solutions is a key mediational means, while reasoning with a multitude of perspectives is given precedence in history. Students adjust their texts to the kind of dialogicity in the setting. However, in interviews, some students, mainly in economics, exhibit a resistance to the epistemology and mediational means of their discipline. This resistance seems not to influence their texts, but in all probability the depth of their learning. In addition, the socialisation seems to be a more prolonged process in economics. The reasons may be that the mediational means have a weak connection to students’ previous knowledge and that they are not collectively applied in economics to the same extent as in history. Thus, a pedagogical conclusion is that the important mediational means of a discipline should be collectively applied during study. Moreover, student writing should be considered in relation to students’ previous knowledge, their course of study and their future professional activity.

Améliorer les démarches d’écoconception en prenant en compte les connaissances locales / Taking local knowledge into account to improve ecodesign approaches

Baouch, Yacine 01 July 2016 (has links)
In an ecodesign process, designers try to reduce the environmental impact of the product while keeping the usual objectives of competitiveness, quality, and time to market. In a highly competitive context, companies require support to easily and strongly integrate the environment, while, at the same time, keeping a real long term perspective. The originality of this thesis is that it addresses this challenge through knowledge, and thus stakeholder, perspective. We demonstrate how a lack of local knowledge can affect the integration of environmental concerns into the design process. That is why we propose a three step answer to improve the ecodesign approach: (1) K2stor methodology highlights failures linked to a need of local knowledge, (2) K2afé approach creates a social interaction situation between the stakeholders to construct target knowledge and (3) K2alligraphie is a formalism developed to facilitate the sharing of Life Cycle Analysis reasoning between its users. These three proposals have been tested in an industrial context and through observations. The analysis of the usage of these three propositions lead us to confirm their efficiency. Finally, an ecodesign knowledge platform is outlined.

Cabral, Jeferson de Oliveira January 2017 (has links)
The central theme of the investigation is Dance Theatre and its pedagogical possibilities. This study aims to extract the pedagogical principles of Dance Theatre from creation premises of the German choreographer Pina Bausch and from the documentary Dancing Dreams (2010), directed by Anne Linsel and Rainer Hoffmann, which shows the development of Bausch's work with young people in the recreation of the spectacle Kontakthof (2008). In general, this investigation intends to consolidate Dance Theatre as an element of human knowledge, through education. As theoretical field related to Dance Theatre, several Brazilian and foreign authors dedicated to Bausch's scenic process are studied. Concerning the notion of "youths", we brought authors that discuss young people's relations with their social environment, with the creation of their identity and with their corporeity. To deal with Pedagogy concepts it is used writings of Jacques Rancière, Fernando Becker, Vera Lúcia Bertoni dos Santos, João Pedro Gil, Odailso Berté, among others. Through the testimonies of the young participants of the documentary it can be identified that, even without that intention, Bausch's proposition promotes a new view of themselves towards their daily lives, through their entrance in the Art world, generating the construction of knowledge through the artistic poetics. To end the study, there was a workshop with young people, which made it possible to share the research findings, allowing the participants to report their learnings along with the pedagogical proposition of Dance Theatre.

Processos colaborativos e interacionais de construção do conhecimento em ambientes virtuais de aprendizagem / Interactional and collaborative processes of knowledge construction in virtual learning enviroment

Patricia Ribeiro Vasconcellos 26 August 2009 (has links)
This research aims at the interactional and collaborative processes of knowledge construction in virtual learning environment. It discusses the human formation in virtual learning environment in a democracy. The work starts from the analysis of the man a contemporary society intends to form in order to transform the unequal present-day capitalist society into a more egalitarian one. In this respect, it also examines the education that is necessary for it. As every dialectical effort, it brings to light some contradictions that will be important for a better understanding of the present and for the search for alternative paths. Finally, it analyses Online Education as a path for democratic education, highlighting the development of a proposal to focus on interactional and collaborative processes of knowledge construction in virtual learning environment. The methodology used is Case Study, in a longitudinal and qualitative perspective, with a socio-historical approach. The data collection involved participant observation and document analysis. The processing of data uses content analysis. The results indicate that online education, based on collaborative and interactional processes of knowledge construction, besides being more democratic, it is more effective in relation to learning than the more traditional distance education, with an instructional approach. In addition, six key indicators point to draw up proposals for online education: the concept of online education course, aware that the technologies are human and as such may promote human emancipation, the professionalization, the integration of knowledge teachers , the importance of setting the AVA, and the need for teaching practices that work standalone switch with collaborative work.

Knowledge Construction in Multicultural Reading Projects

Nigutova, Svatava January 2018 (has links)
This paper researches the theoretical background needed for the implementation of literary texts with multicultural themes for use in EFL courses in Sweden and it offers several concrete didactical solutions for multicultural reading. The theory of multicultural education by J. A. Banks is presented with focus on the dimension of knowledge construction. The processes that are examined are the learning processes in the zone of proximal development by Vygotsky (1986), the concept of scaffolding by Woods, Bruner & Ross (1976) and the process of perspective-taking by Thein & Sloan (2013). These processes each employ a three-step sequence that moves students from their existing knowledge to new knowledge and revised personal opinions. The teacher’s role is to provide support during the learning process. The second part of the paper suggests different activities for the multicultural reading of a novel, used to make the process of multicultural knowledge construction and scaffolding visible. Teacher support includes text reduction, book discussion and language analysis. Discussion points found in Love Medicine start with revising the stereotypical images, discovering how personal experience influences knowledge or how ethnicity influences professional career choices. When teachers and students read literary texts with multicultural themes, students’ racial prejudice can be reduced (Banks 2004) and their ethical attitudes become more open (Thein & Sloan 2013). The literary work chosen for framing in the theory is Love Medicine by Louise Erdrich. The paper ends with a reflection over the limitations of multicultural reading projects.
