The aim of this thesis is to characterize key managerial competencies and choose the appropriate methods for their detection with subsequent evaluation and describing the current level in management. On the basis of this evaluation then suggest appropriate procedures selected for further development of managerial competencies. The work is divided into two parts. The theoretical part includes theoretical knowledge, which is difficult to weigh. In this part I will pay particular attention to the definition of a manager, we explain the notion of competence, competency measurement, types of competence. The literature review follows their own work. The practical part contains information about which competencies managers operate. Based on the information obtained is an overall evaluation, and then proposed the possibility of further development.

Problematika standardů ošetřování zevních genitálií u dětí od narození do 3 let / Issue Standards for Treatment of External Childrens Genital from Birth to 3 Years

Hygienic care is one of the most critical pillars of care for child´s health. Learning the right hygienic habits in childhood and keeping them throughout the lifetime is of vital importance for human health. Unfortunately, information about the hygiene of external genital of children is often inconsistent, both among the parents and healthcare workers. The thesis deals with the issue of treatment of external genital of children from birth to three years of age, while the main emphasis is put on education of mothers. The objective of the thesis was to determine, whether the nurses know their competences in treatment of the external genital in newborns, babies and toddlers and whether the nurses are able to apply the competences in full. The third objective of the thesis was to map the awareness of parents of how to treat external genital of children from birth to three years of age. Three hypotheses were established. The first hypothesis: Nurses know their competences in treatment of external genitals of newborns, babies and toddlers. The second hypothesis: Nurses, who know their competences in treatment of external genital of newborns, babies and toddlers, are unable to fully apply them. The third hypothesis: Parents of newborns, babies and toddlers do not have sufficient information about the proper hygienic treatment of external genital of their children. The quantitative research used two anonymous questionnaires, while one questionnaire was designed for nurses working with children from birth to 3 years of age. The other questionnaire was created and intended for mothers of children in the age category from birth to three years. The questionnaire research was performed on the territory of the South Bohemian region. The first hypothesis: ``Nurses know their competences in treatment of external genital of newborns, babies and toddlers.{\crq}q has been confirmed. The second hypothesis: ``Nurses, who know their competences in treatment of external genital of newborns, babies and toddlers in treatment of external genital of newborns, babies and toddlers, are unable to fully apply them.{\crq}q has been rebutted. The third hypothesis: ``Parents of newborns, babies and toddlers do not have sufficient information about the proper hygienic treatment of external genital of their children.{\crq}q has been confirmed. Based on those findings we have decided to develop an educational standard for nurses about the intimate hygiene of girls and boys from birth to three years of age and an educational material for treatment of external genital for parents of young children. We believe that the materials will improve the awareness of this issue and result in a better quality of care for children.

Způsobilost osob praktikujích canisterapii v České republice / Competence of persons practicing canistheraphy in the Czech Republic

The diploma thesis focuses on the area of canine therapy as one of forms of the zoo-therapy, which is a part of comprehensive rehabilitation methods. Canine therapy serves as a support of the psychosocial health of clients from all age groups, where a presence of a dog is used. It is method widely used in social work, social rehabilitation and physiotherapy. The theoretical part if the diploma thesis has been divided into two parts. The first part deals with a field of the zoo-therapy and it focuses on a terminology in that field, its history or methods and forms of the zoo-therapy. It notices, however, also umbrella organizations in the zoo-therapy, Czech as well as international ones. The second part is devoted to the canine therapy from its beginning, i. e. since the beginning of a man´s coexistence with a dog. The theoretical part describes possibilities for providing the canine therapy in accordance with the current legislation. The author also devotes to a composition and training of a canine therapy team and to its preparation for passing of the canine therapy tests. Currently, there is missing a database of people who are engaged in the canine therapy in practice. An aim of the practical part of the diploma thesis is to design such a database structure that would allow an easier contact among these people and therefore an easier access to getting relevant information and experience. The database should contain information for people who are supposed to be interested in services of canine therapy teams. The author published a call in magazines Dog ? Man´s Friend and Dog´s World on websites. The call addressed people practising the canine therapy and it invited them to participate in the research. A technique of e-mail survey (CAMI) was used to collect the data. Further a questionnaire with open questions was used. The other used technique was a content analysis of documents. The database of people practising canine therapy in the Czech Republic has been created. At the same time the collected information has provided a basis to compare competences of these people. The database could be used in order to improve a communication, an exchange experience and a complex development of the field.

Vztah sestra - lékař v současném systému zdravotnictví / The mutual relations between nurse and doctor in the current public health system

Summary Relations between a nurse and a physician underwent many changes in the past. Nowadays, the relations have trended towards equal position of nurses and physicians in the health care system. It is just the equal position of the both professions in care for the client which is a prerequisite of good team cooperation and a guarantee of good-quality nursing as well as therapeutical care. The aim of our work was to find the prevailing forms of relations between nurses and physicians in the examined set of nurses and to determine whether or not nurses think they are equal partners of the physicians within the team cooperation. The quantitative method of research survey was used for the thesis elaboration. We used a questionnaire survey for the data collection. The research sample consisted of nurses working in the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague. The data were collected from April till June 2008. One hundred and fifty-two questionnaires were used for the results evaluation. We made 7 hypotheses for the research purposes. Hypothesis no. 1: Nurses with a longer than 10-year professional experience evaluate the relations with physicians more positively than nurses with a shorter professional experience. This hypothesis was disconfirmed on the basis of statistical analysis.Questioned nurses evaluated the relations with physicians most often as good {--} 56.5 %. Hypothesis no. 2: Nurses with higher education feel to be perceived as the physician{\crq}s partner in the care for patients more often than nurses with secondary education. This hypothesis was also disconfirmed on the basis of statistical analysis. Out of the questioned nurses, 60.5 % do not feel to be perceived by the physicians as their equal partners. Hypothesis no. 3: Nurses at the intensive care units are charged by the physicians with works that do not fall within their competence more often than nurses at standard departments. This hypothesis was confirmed. On the basis of our research, we have found that the questioned nurses at the intensive care units are charged with some highly specialized works that fall within the physicians{\crq} competence. Hypothesis no. 4: Conflict situations in the relation nurse {--} physician are alleged more often by nurses with professional experience un till 10 years as compared to nurses with longer professional experience. The statistical analysis did not confirm this hypothesis. Existence of conflict situations at the work site was stated by 54.7 % of al questioned nurses. Hypothesis no. 5: Nurses solve the conflict situations with physicians through their superiors. This hypothesis was confirmed. In case of a conflict with a physician, the questioned nurses most often contact the head nurse. Hypothesis no. 6: Nurses{\crq} relations with physicians influence their job satisfaction. This hypothesis was confirmed. Relations with physicians are important for job satisfaction of 96.7 % of the questioned nurses. Hypothesis no. 7: In their relation to nurses, physicians observe the rules of etiquette. This hypothesis was confirmed as well. Our proposal to improve the team cooperation between nurses and physicians is as follows. Time should be devoted to interpersonal relations already during the studies of both physicians and nurses; techniques developing cooperation of nurses and physicians should be integrated in their continuing education; measures to improve cooperation should be implemented on the management level of health care facilities; and other researches relating this topic should be executed.

Role sestry během akutního příjmu pacientů s traumatem / Role of a Nurse during an Acute Hospital Admission of a Patient with Trauma

Incidence of injury is currently the third leading cause of death in the Czech Republic. A good link between pre-hospital emergency care and hospital care becomes a priority. Nurses play an important role during an acute admission of patients with trauma to in-hospital care, they are the connecting link of all members of the multidisciplinary team, whose common mission is the patient and saturation of his /her needs. With the changing role of nurses in the modern concept of nursing, nurses become equal partners of physicians and other health care professionals. To be accepted by other members of the team and to be able to work with the full extent of her sphere of action in the acute phase of a trauma patient admission, she has to know perfectly her competencies under the applicable legislation. In the theoretical part the roles and responsibilities of nurses under the applicable legislation are defined. There are also chapters dealing with individual injuries and the organization of care for patients with trauma. In the final section of the theoretical part there is a chapter dealing with the holistic care for patients, including ethical care issues, the role of a patient and the importance of cooperation with the family of the trauma patient who is acutely admitted into the hospital. In the empirical part of the thesis three objectives were stated. To determine the cooperation of nurses with other members of the multidisciplinary team, as well as to find out whether the nurses involved in the admission of a trauma patient into hospital know their own competencies under the Decree No. 424/2004 Coll. The third objective was to determine how trauma patients perceive the process of admission to the hospital. Based on these objectives two hypotheses and two research questions were established. The objectives were successfully met, both hypotheses were confirmed and the questions answered. The research was conducted on the basis of a quantitative qualitative survey at departments of selected hospitals where the patients with acute trauma emergency were directed by emergency medical services. For the quantitative research the interviewing method using questionnaires was selected. Interviews with patients were conducted by the qualitative research method. The respondents were 117 nurses and 5 patients.

The theoretical part briefly outlines main documents which determine the teaching requirements. There are also mentioned contexts between multiculturalism and intercultural competences and why it is important to deal with multicultural education. The practical part concentrates on the research of multicultural specifics and it is divided into two main segments. The first one focuses on the comparison of three kinds of textbooks that are used for teaching English language and the second one is the practical example of multicultural education in English lessons.

The theoretical part summarizes knowledge concerning the work of teaching assistant at a primary school based on available literature. The empirical part is based on the assumption that the conditions of efficient work of the teaching assistant is his cooperation with the classroom teacher. In-depth interviews with teachers and assistants bring knowledge about the pitfalls and problems that a teachindg assistant can experience. This thesis can provide examples of good practice.

The theoretical part of the study is based on the scientific literature, on documents dealing with the social standing of a school director in the society, and on the research studies dealing with the director's personality. It treats the characterisation of the personality, personal typology, properties and motivations. It brings information about the present-day concept of the success. Primarily, the attention is payed to the directors' competency a their roles in the management of the school. The thesis deals with self-management of head teachers and its application in the present which is characterized by an environment of never-ending changes which place considerable demands on the overall preparedness of school management to face these demands. This theses has been completed using search of available literature and free Internet resources related to this issue. The theoretical part explains the basic concepts related to the topic. The personality and skills of managers are also described there. Based on the analysis and comparison of scientific literature I describe the techniques and procedures recommended by the authors who deal with this issue. With the help of a survey in the form of half-structured interviews with managers of education in different types of schools in a district town I try to find out what self-management techniques covering the biological, psychological and social areas are practised by head teachers in order to maintain and develop relevant skills. In conclusion, based on the acquired data I suggest a process of self-management of head teachers. Recommended methods and procedures can be used as a strategic tool for maintaining and developing their competencies necessary to carry out their profession in a quality way.
