<p>Abstract</p><p>Homework is often debated in the media today. The question is about the meaning of homework and whether the students benefit from it or if homework is just a remain from an old educational system.</p><p>The research made on the subject disagrees on what positive/negative effects the homework has on the students.</p><p>For my essay I chose to find out what attitude junior-level teachers have towards homework. Why give students homework? How do you work with home assignments?</p><p>My research is based on interviews with six junior-level teachers that either have or do teach in the lower grades (1-3).</p><p>The result I reached was the all of the teachers used homework in their education.</p><p>The purpose of the home assignments is partly to give the students the possibility to rehearse and fortify their knowledge, especially when it comes to learning how to read.</p><p>Another purpose of the homework is that it helps to maintain a good connection between the home and school. It is also a good way for the parents to get an insight and be a part of their children’s work.</p><p>The conclusion of the research that I made is that if homework should exist in the educational system they ought to be well prepared by the responsible teacher.</p>

<p>Syftet med denna studie var att ta reda på elevers och lärares inställningar till läxor, hur lärare motiverar läxornas syften samt hur eleverna uppfattar dessa syften. Vi genomförde arbetet med hjälp av lärarintervjuer, elevenkäter och litteratur om tidigare forskning om läxor. Dessa tre delar sammanställdes och jämfördes med varandra. Vårt resultat visade att läxors syfte är att lära elever eget ansvar, ge goda läxvanor, involvera föräldrarna samt att ge barnen tid och möjlighet till repetition, fördjupning och befästande av kunskaper och färdigheter. Läxornas syfte motiverades med att läxvanor är nödvändigt inför högre studier och ger möjlighet till att hitta en egen studieteknik. Läxor för repetition, fördjupning och befästande av kunskaper och färdigheter motiverades med att tiden i skolan inte räcker till. Arbetet med läxor anses tidskrävande, men det finns en positiv inställning till läxor som arbetsmetod. Eleverna uppfattade att huvudsyftet med läxor är att de ska lära sig mer. För att synliggöra läxors syften bland lärare, elever och föräldrar är vår första slutsats att alla skolor bör utforma en lokal läxpolicy och läxinstruktioner. Vår andra slutsats är att det finns en tilltro hos elever och lärare att läxor bidrar till ökat lärande.</p>

Vårt syfte med arbetet var att få bättre insikt i fenomenet läxor som inslag i elevers vardag. Utgångspunkten för vårt arbete var det ökade intresset för läxor i media och i skolan. För att uppnå våra frågeställningar, om hur elever och lärare tänker kring läxor samt om läxor påverkar elevers fritidsaktiviteter, valde vi att göra en kvalitativ undersökning. Genom att intervjua elever och lärare fick vi fram ett resultat som visade att eleverna var övervägande positiva till läxor och att de förstod syftet som deras lärare hade med dem. Lärarnas huvudsakliga syfte med läxorna var att befästa kunskaper. Elevernas val av fritidsaktiviteter påverkades inte nämnvärt av deras läxor. <p>Detta är en undersökningen om hur rektorer och lärare uppfattar läxor, vilka skäl det finns för att ge läxor och vilka effekter de förväntas ha. Studien undersöker också om skolor har något skrivet i lokala styrdokument om läxor.Fyra lärare och två rektorer intervjuats och en studie av tjugo skolors hemsidor har genomförts.Rektorernas uppfattning är att läxor tar för mycket tid från lärare och att elever behöver sin fritid. Lärare ger läxor i huvudsak för att föräldrar ska få insyn och bli delaktiga i barnens skolarbete och de är överens om att eleverna behöver träna framförallt läsning hemma. Två av skolorna har riktlinjer avseende arbetet med läxor.Läxor kan ha positiva effekter såsom till exempel ökat lärande, men det negativa kan vara att det leder till stora skillnader i barns lärande beroende på hemförhållanden. En annan slutsats är att läxor bör problematiseras och diskuteras för att främja alla barns måluppfyllelse.</p>
