The discussion of such questions leans over deontological ethics. The objective of this study is to investigate how the advertisements published in Claudia and Nova magazines articulate questions about such ethics. So, the content analysis investigated whether advertisements followed the principles contained in the Código Brasileiro de Auto-Regulamentação Publicitária. Besides, the discourse analysis checked how advertisements were constructed based on ethics and woman in the current society. Therefore, this study showed that the representations of the deontological ethics in the feminine publicity occur in a non-linear and fragmented way. The non- linearity refers to the non- fulfillment of the ethical principles for some analyzed advertisements. The fragmentation tells how women are symbolized and how products are offered in advertisements from different standards of conduct (principles) and based on several values. Products in advertisements are showed in true or doubtful way and the representations of the women are based on contemporaries or traditional values in differentiated ways.(AU) / Esta pesquisa reflete sobre questões da ética contemporânea na publicidade dirigida ao público feminino.

Transmidiação, linguagem, discurso e experiência de criação de universo narrativo: o ex-pectador e as cenas estendidas do site da telenovela Passione / Trans media, language, discourse and creation experience of narrative universe: the ex-pectator and the extented scenes of telenovela Passione

Ligia Maria Prezia Lemos 12 December 2012 (has links)
The following study objective is to create a critical view about one of the instances of experimentation on brazilian TV fiction with the introduction of technologic platforms which enabled the broadcast of content to other screens. To reach that objective, this paper investigates the extended scenes published as exclusive content at Rede Globo\'s telenovela Passione website, available from May 2010 through January 2011. These scenes represented an essay of language creation that opens significant questioning in the field of production language in an age marked by changes in the role of the broadcaster, changes on the receiver end of the spectrum and in communication methods. With this objective, this study proposes to review these telenovela scenes produced exclusively to the website, expanding the story from the television to the internet. Following distinct visions, it indicates possible discussions about the complex language and artistic expression and, in this way, the study proposes to examine the same object through a series of epistemological lenses. The theoretical structure of this essay has, therefore, a role of revision, exposing proposals of review models in a historic moment in which the existing ones can no longer explain the complexity of communications. One hypothesis that we bring to light is that the concept of authorship finds itself amplified by interactivity, by collaborative and interactive systems and by fan creation; which leads to the point of production to research and experiment different creative possibilities. As a methodological procedure, we use the study of subject of extended scenes from telenovela Passione and, in the same time, consider the language of other creations to multiple platforms, doing a qualitative and documental approach. In that way, the methodological process unfolded in a simultaneous and complementary manner: (a) following up the telenovela by analogic and digital television; (b) following up the website before, during and after the presentation of the telenovela with personal interactivity; (c) following up other platforms; (d) following up the extended scenes. The research body is comprised of 211 extended scenes of Passione that were available on its website in the \'personagens\' tab in July 2011. Those of which were organized and transcripted for analysis. In the role of confidant and with great expectations to interact, the spectator, looking through the theoretical and methodological lenses of our research, transforms into an ex-pectador. The ex-pectador is the one who is in ring.

Němečtí rodilí mluvčí v České republice. Internetová fóra a pozorování jako zdroj diskurzu o interkulturním a jazykovém kontaktu / German native speakers in the Czech Republic. Internet forums and observations as a source of discourse on intercultural and language contact

Grabowski, Pavla January 2011 (has links)
In this thesis the discourse on intercultural and language contact of German native speakers in the Czech Republic (so called "expatriates") is analysed in accordance with the Language Management Theory. Individual interactions on the discourse-based (micro) level are the source of data for the analysis of linguistic, communicative and socio-cultural language problems. Language problem is understood as a noted and negatively evaluated deviation from the expectation of the expatriates. Which language problems have been recognized by the German native speakers and which strategies to solve them have been chosen is examined in three domains "work domain", "leisure domain" and "daily life domain". The Czech language competence is the most mentioned language problem in the discourse. As a result of the discourse analysis it has been found out that Language Management cannot be seen as an objective process of solving language problems, as the expatriates possess diverse expectations according to their individual interests and further aspects (situation conditions or the issue of social power). Therefore it is not possible to give a general recommendation of how to solve the language problems. Key words: Expatriates, Discourse, Language Problem, Language Management, Language Management Theory, Adjustment...

Tschechei a jazykový úzus. Diachronní a synchronní aspekty brizantního toponyma pod drobnohledem / Tschechei and its Use. Diachronic and Synchronic Aspects of a Politically Charged Toponym in Focus

Schuchová, Milena January 2017 (has links)
This thesis deals with toponym of Tschechei, which has not been studied yet in detail. This topic is still relevant since even today the Czech Republic is also called Tschechei by natives and non-natives. In this work, three theories were formulated, which describe the etymology and usage of this term. These theories were then applied in diachronic and synchronic analyses to find out the meaning of the term Tschechei used by different users of a language. Furthermore, the corresponding theory was assigned to each use. This method proved that this term is present in diachronic as well as in synchronic language usage. This thesis presents a conclusion that the explanation and description of this toponym in the available dictionaries is not sufficient. Therefore, the term of Tschechei is defined as a separate dictionary entry for the prepared German-Czech dictionary.

English-medium instruction in China's universities : external perceptions, ideologies and sociolinguistic realities

Botha, Werner 2013 November 1900 (has links)
This thesis examines the results of a large-scale sociolinguistic study on the use of English in two universities in China. The aim of the thesis is to determine the sociolinguistic realities of the use of English in higher education in China. The universities were selected on the basis of their unique status in China’s higher education hierarchy. One university was a private institute reliant on student fees for its income, and the other a state-funded university under the supervision of the Chinese Ministry of Education. A sociolinguistic survey was conducted involving some 490 respondents at these universities between early 2012 and mid-2013. It was specifically aimed at describing the use of the English language in the formal education of students. The study reports on the status and functions of English at the universities, as well as the attitudes of various stakeholders towards English (and other languages). It also examines their beliefs about English. English is considered in a number of contexts: first, the context of language contact, of English alongside other languages and language varieties on the two university campuses; second, of English as part of the linguistic worlds of Chinese students who switch between languages in their daily lives, both in their education as well as their private lives; and third, of the spread and use of English in terms of the physical and virtual movement of people across spaces. The findings of the study indicate that the increasing use of English in the formal education at these universities is having an impact on the ways in which Chinese students are learning their course materials, and even more notably in the myriad ways these students are using multiple languages to negotiate their everyday lives. As university students in China become increasingly bilingual, their ability to move across spaces is shown to increase, both in the ‘real’ world, as well as in their Internet and entertainment lives. / Linguistics / D. K Bedřichu Brenskemu a "jazyku zla": řeč nacistické totality jako charakterizační prostředek v Lustigově novele Modlitba pro Kateřinu Horovitzovou / Bedřich Brenske and "the language of evil": Nazi totalitarian discourse as means of characterization in Arnošt Lustig's novella A Prayer for Kateřina Horovitzová

Gráfová, Sarah Jane January 2017 (has links)
The present master's thesis undertakes to provide a comparative study of authentic and literary nazi discourse. It takes up the thread of research already carried out into the concept of original nazi language, projects existing observations on that phenomenon onto a work of Czech fine literature and examines the possibility of the drawing of parallels between authentic nazi discourse and its recreation in fiction. The method selected for the purpose is one of study and collation of the features and devices of original nazi language as described in existing linguistic and philological commentaries in parallel with a detailed analysis of the discourse of Bedřich Brenske, the prime nazi protagonist in Arnošt Lustig's novella A Prayer for Katerina Horovitzova (1964). The main focus throughout is on lexical and semantic aspects and their roles in the process of psychological manipulation; the analysis of the fictional text also casts light upon certain extralinguistic and paralinguistic aspects of Brenske's communication that are revealed to the reader through the narrator discourse. Consideration of Brenske's direct speech in the light of the original discourse of the Third Reich reveals a high degree of correspondence between the two, both on the fundamental level of linguistic features and in terms...
