The relationship between career anchors and employability

Ndzube, Fezeka 10 1900 (has links)
In the post-industrial society, career management has become vitally important for assisting workers to be employable. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between career anchors and employability. The effort of researching these concepts is geared towards adding to the knowledge base in the field of Industrial and Organisational Psychology, so that the current organisation from which the sample was chosen and other organisations in South Africa can adopt a strong career management culture. A quantitative survey using primary data was conducted on a convenience sample (N=108) of full-time employees in a South African financial company. The Career Anchors Inventory (COI) and the Employability Attribute Scale (EAS) were used to gather data. The study found a statistically significant positive relationship between career anchors and employability. In addition, there were significant correlations between the sub-constructs of career anchors and employability, while significant differences in career anchor preferences and employability perceptions between males and females emerged. The only differences in career anchor preferences were detected between racial and age groups. The results indicate a mutual and positive relationship between career anchors and employability, which can be useful in career guidance in the 21st century. / Industrial & Organisational Psychology / M. Freiheit und soziale Sicherheit

Vobruba, Georg 22 August 2016 (has links) (PDF)

For this, we carried out a bibliometric analysis on this topic in the Anglo-Saxon organizational literature and a quantitative-descriptive research based on data collected through an online questionnaire answered by 268 Brazilian professionals with over 35 years of age. Although the sample used does not allow to generalize the results to the population under study, the data demonstrated the aging impacts on the occupation, notably employment; career satisfaction and plans of older workers; and age stereotypes and professional discrimination related to age (ageism). The study aims to contribute to the advancement of the discussions on the Brazilian population aging and its implications for professionals and organizations / Esta pesquisa aborda questões relacionadas ao envelhecimento da força de trabalho brasileira e pretende investigar os desafios e oportunidades de carreira na maturidade.

Nissen, Sylke 22 August 2016 (has links) (PDF)

Between the modern and the traditional : Life stories from Namibian students

Jornefelt, Stina January 2008 (has links)

This study is based on six narrative interviews which I conducted with students at the University of Namibia in Windhoek, Namibia. My aim is to find out how these students are creating their identity in the environment of the university, how they look at their family structure and how Namibia´s independence in 1990 has created new opportunities for young people in contemporary Namibia. I have been using postcolonial theory and identity theories to analyse the interviews. Five of the six respondents are from the northern parts of Namibia, Ovamboland, and this area is seen as a rural area. The students have made an emotional journey from the rural areas in the north to the urban area of Windhoek and they feel that they have many new opportunities and they are willing to change Namibia into a more developed country.

The work concerns only women who provide sexual services for a fee and are over 18 years of age. I also adapted a selected sample of respondents to this work and addressed both existing clients of ROZKOŠ bez RIZIKA, z. s., including those who no longer work in the sex business. I used the method of structured interviews, through which it was possible to get a basic picture of the interviewee's family, personal and work situation.
