Pracovní zátěž a životní spokojenost u zdravotníků (se zaměřením na všeobecné sestry) / Occupational load and life satisfaction of medical staff (focusing on general nurces)

Netíková, Pavlína January 2019 (has links)
The topic of this master thesis is focused on occupational workload and life satisfaction of medical staff members, specifically general nurses. Profession of nurse is very physically and mentally demanding and the workload can lead to disturbance of nurse's health and well-being, thus also life satisfaction, which is a cognitive part of well-being. The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is to be knowledgeable in thematic literature and summarize gained information into meaningful content. The first chapter is dedicated to the profession of nurse, its content, what education must be completed and what personality assumption should be met. The following chapters are focused on the occupational workload and stress of nurses, connected problems and coping options and also life satisfaction with related concepts is discussed. Aim of the empirical part is to analyse how selected Czech general nurses from inpatient wards scored in the Questionnaire of Life Satisfaction and the Meister's Questionnaire of Workload Rating, explore dependence of the outcomes on selected factors and causality between the outcomes. Attention has been focused on particular departments. Key words: department, life satisfaction, nurse, occupational workload, profession, stress

Social network satisfaction and life satisfaction among late middle-aged adults with and without functional disability

Suzuki, Atsuko January 2022 (has links)
Having good social networks could lead to better well-being. However, how the relationship between social networks and well-being differ by disability is not well understood. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the association between social network satisfaction and life satisfaction and whether the association is moderated by disability. Our sample consisted of 20,179 individuals aged 50-65 in 17 European countries who participated in the waves 6 and 7 of the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). The association between social network satisfaction and life satisfaction was examined using logistic regression analysis and adjusting for potential confounders. Then interaction term between disability and social network satisfaction on life satisfaction was tested. The results showed a statistically significant relationship between social network satisfaction and life satisfaction (OR=1.54, 95% C.I. 1.43-1.65 in the adjusted model). We did not find evidence that disability moderates the association between social network satisfaction and life satisfaction (p-value for interaction 0.16). This study, which assessed the quality of social networks using social network satisfaction as an indicator, could help to better understand the relationship between social networks and wellbeing among people with disabilities.

Does subjective (un)happiness predict religious extremism?

Andersson, Pontus January 2021 (has links)
With religious extremism being a destructive force in many parts of the world, the mission to understand and mitigate it is always actual. The current thesis tries to contribute to the knowledge of this phenomenon by investigating it through a very particular lens – its relation to subjective happiness. This is done through finding the answer to the research question “Does subjective (un)happiness predict religious extremism?”, using various quantitative gamma and chi-squared tests of association, as well as data from the World Values Survey, wave 7. Although it is hypothesised, based on previous research, that subjective happiness should have either a positive or negative relation with holding religiously extreme views, none of this is proven correct. Instead, a conclusion entirely new to the field of psycho-emotional well-being and political views emerges, namely that religious extremists tend to evaluate their happiness and sense of well-being just as extremely as they do societal and religious matters. This not only disproves the conclusions drawn by certain previous studies, it also provides a whole new perspective as to how to understand the inner worlds of individuals drawn to the ideas of religious extremism, something crucial for successful mitigation of this harmful phenomenon.

Kvalita života dospělých osob před a po implantaci kochleárního implantátu / Quality of life in adult users of cochlear implant before and after the implantation

Marková, Johana January 2021 (has links)
Title: Quality of life in adult users of cochlear implant before and after the implantation Objectives: The aim of the study was to determine the degree of life satisfaction with a cochlear implant (CI) in postlingually deaf people, who lost their hearing after acquiring speech skills - i.e. after the 7th year of life. Methods: The research was realized by its own anonymous semi-structured survey, which contained 31 questions in total. Then was the survey was provided through a website and sent out using e-mail addresses, with a total of 29 adult respondents completing it. Results: The predominant majority (52 %) of respondents agreed, that CI provided them with the same or better benefit, than they themselves expected. At the same time, they assessed the hearing and understanding in each area with a score of 2 - so that, there was improvement in all areas. The predominant majority of respondents did not need more time to think about implantation and also get together good or rather good feelings from hearing at the first setup. Regular sports respondents stated that they had performed the same sport before implantation. With regard to the epidemiological situation, an overwhelming majority (93 %) respondents stated, that get together a decrease of understanding by others people, who are using a...

Validity and invariance of measurement of the satisfaction with love life scale in older adults

Caycho-Rodríguez, Tomás, Sancho, Patricia, Tomás, José M., Esteban, Renzo Felipe Carranza, Ventura-León, José, Neto, Felix, Reyes-Bossio, Mario, Cabrera-Orosco, Isabel 01 January 2020 (has links)
In recent years, interest in satisfaction with love life (SWLL) has increased. Empirical evidence demonstrated that SWLL favors subjective well-being, physical and mental health, marital quality and stability. In this regard, the study aimed to examine evidence based on the internal structure validity, reliability, and measurement invariance of the Peruvian version of the Satisfaction with Love Life Scale (SWLLS). The participants were 323 older adults recruited from the region of San Martin (Peru) with an average age of 68.73 years (SD = 7.17). The sample comprised of 49.5% women and 50.5% men. The results supported the one-dimensional model and adequate reliability of the SWLLS. A multi-group analysis provided evidence of configural, metric, and scale invariance across genders. The findings verified the validity and reliability of the Peruvian version of the SWLLS, which can be used to measure SWLL. / Universidad del Norte

Outdoor Air Pollution and Psychological Well-Being: A Meta-Analysis

Bekker, Jeremy Stanley 19 April 2022 (has links)
Human life takes place as part of a global ecosystem, meaning that human mental health is at least partially tied to the health of the planet. Health experts who seek to promote psychological well-being should consider how changes to the broad ecological system may impact their efforts. Given the potential impact of the environment on human well-being, we conducted a meta-analysis to assess the impact of air pollution on subjective well-being. The goal of this project was to outline the current state of the research on these constructs and provide a clear framework for what research is still needed. Nonsignificant relationships were found for six out of seven of the measured pollutants. Overall, these results appear to indicate a nonsignificant negative relationship between our constructs; however, our model had significant heterogeneity which may impact the validity of these findings. Attempts to reduce statistical heterogeneity demonstrated the importance of complex measurement and study design when studying the impact of ecological environments on well-being.

Fear Of Missing Out och livstillfredsställelse : En kvantitativ studie om sambandet mellan FoMO och SWLS.

Persson, Sandra January 2021 (has links)
In this study a total of 235 people participated, whereof 231 of these participated in comparisons between genders. The purpose of this study was to see if Fear of Missing Out [FoMO] plays a role in how satisfied you are with your life (Satisfaction with Life Scale) [SWLS], amongst all participants but also compared between gender. In addition, this study wanted to see if there were any connection between FoMO and age among all participants as well as between genders. Furthermore, the study wanted to see if there were any differences in FoMO and SWLS between genders. The results showed that there was a significant negative correlation between self-reported SWLS and self-reported FoMO for men. But there was no correlation between self-reported SWLS and self-reported FoMO for women. Though there were a negative correlation between self-reported SWLS and self-reported FoMO for all participants, this indicates that the significant correlation in the whole group was indeed caused by the male participants since there were no significant correlations for women. This study could also show a significant negative correlation between FoMO and age for all participants as well as for men and women separately. Older participants reported lower FoMO. Finally, this study did not find any differences in gender when it comes to self-reported FoMO, nor self-reported SWLS.

Validation of the students’ life satisfaction scale among a sample of children in south africa: multi-group analysis across three language groups

Mulalo, Mpilo January 2020 (has links)
Magister Artium (Psychology) - MA(Psych) / While research into children’s subjective well-being (SWB) has advanced over the past decade, there is a paucity of cross-cultural research, particularly in South Africa. Moreover, while the adaptation and validation of instruments in English and Afrikaans are evident, other language groups have not received much attention. This study aimed to provide structural validation of the Students’ Life Satisfaction Scale across a sample of children in South Africa using multi-group analysis across three language groups (Setswana, Xitsonga, and Tshivenda). Within this process, the study aimed to use multi-group confirmatory factor analysis (MGCFA) to compare the structural validity and measurement invariance of the three language groups. Finally, the study aimed to determine the convergent validity of the three language groups of the SLSS by regressing them onto the single-item Overall Life Satisfaction Scale (OLS). The study uses data from Wave 3 of the South African Children’s Worlds Study and included a sample of 625 children across the language groups (Setswana: n = 187; Sesotho: n = 170; and Tshivenda: n = 268). For the overall pooled sample an excellent fit was obtained for a single-factor model, including one error-covariance. Standardised regression weights of the items ranged between .43 and .73. MGCFA revealed an acceptable fit for the configural model (unconstrained loadings); however, metric (constrained loadings) and scalar invariance (constrained loadings and intercepts) was not tenable. However, through the application of partial constraints metric invariance was tenable when Item 5 (I like my life) was freely estimated, while scalar invariance was tenable when Item 1 (I enjoy my life) and Item 5 (I like my life) were freely estimated. The results suggest that the Items: My life is going well; I have a good life; The things in my life are excellent; and I am happy with my life, are comparable by correlations, regression coefficients, and latent mean scores across the three language groups. Convergent validity using the OLS was obtained for the pooled sample and across the language groups. The key contribution of the study is establishing that the Setswana, Sesotho, and Tshivenda translated and adapted versions of the SLSS are valid for use within the South African context to measure children’s SWB, and that they can be grouped together in an overall pooled sample.

Vliv školy na hodnocení životní spokojenosti mladých lidí / The influence of school on the evaluation of life satisfaction of young people

Spitzerová, Markéta January 2021 (has links)
and keywords in English The diploma thesis deals with the relationship between pupils' overall life satisfaction and school climate. In this work school climate is represented by four aspects: pupils' sense of security, social relations at school, school success and career planning. Another question which has been analysed is whether the pupils' life satisfaction is affected by the type of school. The relationships were verified on the data from the PISA survey from 2018 using hierarchical linear models. A significant association between the type of school and the pupils' overall life satisfaction has been present only when there were no other variables in the model that would describe the school climate. Another important phenomenon is a relationship between pupils' overall life satisfaction and relationships at school (not only with classmates, but also with teachers). Model 2 shows that good relationships with classmates and teachers could also be a weak moderator of the relationship between the negative experience of bullying and pupils' life satisfaction. In the analysis a positive association between academic achievements and life satisfaction was identified only when the academic achievements were represented by marks, not by the average reading literacy score. In this work the conclusions...
