The Disney Cliché : Relationsdynamik i Disneys animerade filmer från 2000-talet ur ett genusperspektiv / The Disney Cliché : Relationship dynamics in Disneys animated films in the 21st century from a gender perspectiveWinter, Michelle, Persson, Josephine, Prené, Malin January 2014 (has links)
Disney is one of the largest media companies in the world. They have been critizied for portrayting men, women and love relationships with stereotypical behaviours and attributes. This may lead to negative effects on childrens and adolescents perception of reality. The purpose of this study was to investigate how Disney portrays the dynamic between the characters within the love relationship in their movies launched in the 21st century. This study has examined four movies released in the 21st century containing a love relationship between a man and a woman. Movies examined were; Atlantis - The Lost Empire, The Princess and the Frog, Tangled and Frozen. For this study, a quantitative content analysis with qualitative elements was applied to answer the purpose and issue of the study. The study measured the frequency of the characters activities and actions when they are with and without each other, what they are doing together and who is the initiator of classical love actions. The results for this study presented interesting patterns. Both female and male characters were often portrayed with stereotypical behaviuors in Disneys animated movies. However, these patterns differed when the characters were with and without each other. When the characters were together, the female characters tended to be portrayed with more male attributes, whilst the male characterstended to be portrayed with more female attributes. Additionally, Disney tend to portray love relationships in a stereotypical and unrealistic way.

Närvarande Frånvaro -En kvalitativ studie av online-gaming i samborelationerBrynhildsen, Niklas, Lundberg, Julian January 2019 (has links)
Online-gaming (OG) is a fast-growing phenomenon that could have a major impact in people's life. This study analyses the impact online-gaming has on cohabitational-love relationships and outsiders of the OG world. The study is based on six qualitative interviews with couples engaged in the world of internet-usage and OG. The interviews were performed both individually and together with their partner. There are many positive effects that comes with internet and OG, but there are also plenty of negative. Central questions for this study are therefore how OG are perceived within the relationships and how the potential consequences it leads to are dealt with. The study also discusses who the problem initiator is, and how the negotiation within the relationship looks like. Previous research shows conflict as a result of too much time spent with online-gaming. The result of this study therefore aspires to add a complementary layer to what may be the cause of these conflicts. The result shows that a lack of accountability and too much time spent involved with OG creates reasons for conflict. The presented solution included mutual agreement for what is to be seen as a fair amount of time spent with OG. If the time exceeds stated agreement, it seemed to be a reason for conflict. But if not, OG would mostly be seen as something positive for both parties when it comes to their individual well-being.

Previous issue date: 2015-03-20 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / The way of thinking of the world and social relationships has changed in the last 60 years. The relativism of values generated an ambiguity that is evidenced in romantic relationships that have also changed and taken multiple configurations, becoming more liquid and fluid. In this context, this work was developed from a systemic perspective with the objective to understand the meanings of marriage, romantic relationships and infidelity among single young adults. This work intersects the horizontal and vertical flows from current and intergerational perspectives in family life cycle. To obtain these results, this paper consisted of qualitative research, developed by semi-structured interviews and genograms with two men and two women, between 25 and 34 years, which represent Generation Y, currently in the university or with a university degree. The results indicate that marriage, as well as stable union are seen as a choice not an obligation. Romantic relationships are guided by partnership and equality, governed by the concept of pure relationship that provides mutual satisfaction and the possibility of separation when these conditions are not fulfilled. Infidelity presents itself with traditional meanings and some gender issues emerge, given that the male lightness enables an easy break up, against female insecurity, marked by ambiguity that is observed in different meanings assigned to commitment. When considering the intersection of horizontal and vertical flows, it is evident that these representatives of Generation Y were raised in new families arrangements and their idea of intimate relationships were constructed based on cultural concepts of pure relationships and the beliefs and values that came from their families. This process reveals that the relationships are not as liquid as they should appear and not that pure as imagined / Nos últimos 60 anos modificaram-se as formas de pensar o mundo e as relações sociais.

A study of the change in Frida magazine´s sex- and love relationship-material, between the years 1991 and 2012Bengtsson, Johanna, Nilsson, Annika January 2013 (has links)
In Swedish shops today there are a lot of magazines aimed at teenagers, which fight for young girls’ attention. These teenage-magazines are one of the most important sources for young girls to get information about sex and love-relationships; therefor it’s important how these magazines portray it. We have examined how the magazine Frida has portrayed sex and love-relationships from 1991 until today. The way sex and love-relationships are portrayed in Frida’s articles affect the young readers in their process of building an identity. Using a combined rhetoric- and discourse analysis we found that the main focus in Frida is for the reader to have a love-relationship with a guy, instead of a physical sex-relationship. Frida uses all the rhetorical tools to convince their readers that what they are telling them is the right way to think and behave.

Love relationships, texting and mobility : an ethnography of cell phone use in intimate relationships among labour migrants in Cape TownMotau, Marjorie Disebo January 2013 (has links)
Magister Artium - MA / This thesis explores the different ways in which labour migrants in contemporary South Africa make use of cell phones in their daily lives to maintain their love relationships. I start by tracing the history of labour migration and show how the gradual change of migration has played a role in the assertion of labour migrants in their communities in Cape Town. I look specifically into the use of cell phone by Setswana and Sesotho speaking migrants in Delft, Thornton, Brackenfell and Gugulethu. While the focus of the research is on the role of cell phones in maintaining love relationships between migrants and the partners they left behind
‘at home’, I also show how the negotiation of the cell phone in the social lives of migrants helps build wider social networks. The value of the functions of the cell phone through employed communication patterns that encourage social relations and interactions are also the focus of this thesis.

The Everyday Experience of Satisfaction, Conflict, Anger, and Violence for Women in Love RelationshipsSmith, R. Lee 05 1900 (has links)
The problem of this study addressed how women experience the conflict variables of beliefs about conflict, anger arousal, conflict styles, and received and expressed violence as partners in love relationships and how these factors affect their reported satisfaction.
Graduate women (M = 186) from University of North Texas completed the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS), a subscale of Relationship Beliefs Inventory (RBI), the Multidimensional Anger Inventory (MAI), and Interpersonal Conflict Tactics and Strategies Scale (ICTAS), and the Severity of Violence Against Women scale (SVAW). Data were analyzed using MANOVAs with ANOVAs to examine significant differences. Multiple regression procedures were used for the exploratory questions.
Women reporting less satisfied relationships were expected to believe that disagreement was more destructive and to report higher anger arousal than those who were more satisfied. The hypotheses were supported. Women who were less satisfied also reported using less constructive conflict tactics and more destructive and avoidant tactics as well as receiving some forms of violence. Expressed violence was not significantly related to low satisfaction.
Results suggested that these conflict variables are highly interrelated. Strong feedback loops may develop. Strongly held conflict beliefs may affect the use of destructive and avoidant conflict strategies and increase anger which may reinforce the conflict beliefs.
Women who have received violence may use both destructive and avoidant tactics. Use of tactics that escalate then de-escalate conflict suggests that conflict strategies may not be mutually exclusive. However, when a woman is low in anger and has previously received violence from a partner, she may use more avoidant tactics. In contrast women who express violence to their partners may use all three conflict tactics including constructive tactics. This finding suggested that women may express violence as a last resort to get a reaction from their partners.

[en] PAR PERFEITO: A NEW VIRTUAL SPACE TO LOOK FOR ROMANCE PARTNERS / [pt] PAR PERFEITO: UM NOVO ESPAÇO VIRTUAL PARA A PROCURA DE PARCEIROS AMOROSOSERIKA FALCAO RAMALHO 19 July 2005 (has links)
[pt] O surgimento da Internet gerou grandes e importantes
modificações ao redor
mundo. No que concerne aos relacionamentos interpessoais,
possibilitou a
entrevistados 16 usuários do
Par Perfeito. A análise dos seus depoimentos revela que
eles decidiram cadastrarse
no site porque desejavam conhecer pessoas do sexo oposto
para terem um
relacionamento amoroso no mundo real. As principais
[en] The appereance of Internet has brought enormous and
important
transformations around the world. In matters related to
interpersonal relationships,
it has allowed the beginning of a new kind of
relationship: the virtual relationship.
This type of relationship was common, specially, in chats,
in which people used to
communicate with each other. Some time later, relationship
websites appeared.
These websites offer a virtual space to stimulate the
search for romance partners.
The present work aims to investigate the reasons why women
and men are using
the biggest relationship website in Brazil called Par
Perfeito. In order to identify
all reasons, it was made a qualitative research, in which
16 Par Perfeito users were
interviewed. The analysis of their answers reveals that
they decided to subscribe
in the website because they wanted to know people from the
opposite sex and to
have a love relationship in the real world. The main
advantage mentioned by the
users of the site, is the believe that: (1) the approach
is easier in Par Perfeito and
the rejection possibility is faced in a less painful way;
(2) the large amount of
subscribed people means a higher possibility to find a
quality romance partner. In
addition, the interviewees said that they didn`t stop
looking for partners outside
the Internet and they believe that Par Perfeito is just an
extra way to meet people.
A way that they find practical, cheap and funny.

Gender violence is a relevant problem in our society. In the more serious cases, it may lead to episodes of extreme violence: crimes of passion. Purposes: This study looked into the life and romantic relationship backgrounds of perpetrators of crimes of passion and analyzed their experiences and accounts of the events leading up to their crime. Method: We used the multiple case study procedure. We focused on three men convicted and imprisoned for the first-degree murder of their lovers. We conducted four semi-structured interviews with each convict. We also used social-demographic charts and genograms. Results: The following elements stand out from their backgrounds: they suffered physical violence in childhood, had low schooling levels, started working at an early age, remained close to their immediate families, were evangelicals, and one of them had attempted suicide after committing murder. As for their romantic relationships, we found that the killers had expectations regarding conventional gender roles, brief relationships that led to cohabitation, a history of several relationships before getting involved with their victims, and had been involved with their victims for a short time before killing them.
