Creating favourable contexts for nurturing and managing innovations in organisations

This thesis gives an overview about innovations in organisations as well as the importance of a favourable organisational microclimate for the enhancement of creativity and innovation. Generating ideas is always a very fragile process for any organisation engaged in innovative activities. In order to support good and successful ideas the companies have to have a favourable organisational microclimate. This microclimate is discussed against the background of certain conditions which organisations or rather companies should obtain in order to prevail innovations and cope with them in a successful way. The main focus of this thesis is on the conditions, which can favour and support the process of emerging innovations. The conditions are teamwork, management participation, effective communication and information flow, as well as innovative culture. During the different chapters however, some interrelations can therefore be seen. Furthermore nine interviews with three different innovative Latvian companies support our theoretical framework of this thesis, how the different conditions are interrelated with each other in practice and their occurrence in the different companies. In the end a discussion about the results is started, where it can be seen whether more conditions emerged.

Diversity and convergence in platforms for change: building social capability for land management

The policy shift towards sustainability has led to increased diversity of stakeholders in land management. This thesis explores how capacity building projects affect the way stakeholders are included in emerging platforms for change. It does so by combining action research and narrative analysis in a case study of a project that aimed to develop social capability in rural Victoria, Australia. The thesis concludes with ways to improve capacity building methodologies and the reflexive performance within platforms for change.

De fato, essa relação é importante não só para as fábricas recuperadas (na medida em que o sindicato pode representar um forte apoio para o empreendimento), mas para o próprio sindicato que, ao desenvolver uma política específica para esses experimentos, mantém o contato com trabalhadores de sua base que, sem isso, necessariamente se afastariam da entidade. This relationship is relevant not only to the recovered factories (given that the union represent a strong support to the enterprise) but to the union itself because through the development of specific policies for this experience, it manages to keep connected with grassroots workers that otherwise would have moved away from the union. A presente pesquisa objetiva analisar a Política Pública de Urbanização de Favelas, em Santo André, através das práticas e procedimentos adotados na urbanização no Núcleo Capuava e da inserção desta política junto à outras políticas públicas transversais implementadas no período de 1997 a 2007. A partir da reflexão sobre os problemas enfrentados no processo de urbanização verificamos como o projeto de urbanização pode ser alterado nos processos de canteiro e desenho, alterando também os processos de gestão de contratos, medições e prestação de contas do município. Até que ponto a política de urbanização, ao promover a diferenciação do espaço urbano através da implantação de infraestrutura em certas regiões e não em outras, não está reconstruindo também a estrutura de poder. Procuramos analisar se a afirmação da política habitacional de urbanização reitera a apropriação do espaço da cidade, de forma desigual, ressaltando a forma como a riqueza é produzida na cidade mantendo o modo como frações de classe (mais alta renda) controlam a produção do espaço através do domínio do mercado imobiliário, da ideologia e do Estado. / The present objective research to analyze the Public Politics of Urbanization of Slum quarters, in Santo André, through practical and the procedures adopted in the urbanization in the Capuava Slum and of the insertion of this politics next to the others transversal public politics implemented in the period of 1997 the 2007. From the reflection on the problems faced in the urbanization process we verify as the urbanization project can be modified in the processes of workmanships and projects, also modifying the processes of contract management, measurements and rendering of accounts of the city. Until point the urbanization politics, when promoting the differentiation of the urban space through the infrastructure implantation in certain e regions not in others, is also not reconstructing the structure of being able. We look for to analyze if the affirmation of the habitacional politics of urbanization reiterates the appropriation of the space of the city, of different form, standing out the form as the wealth is produced in the city keeping the way as high society control the production of the space through thedomain of the real estate market, the ideology and the State.

Alguns questionamentos orientaram a análise: primeiramente indaga-se se esta ferramenta é adequada para iniciar um processo de gestão da Qualidade Total; qual a importância de um patrocinador na alta direção para a implantação efetiva e a manutenção do programa, e por fim, como se comportam os funcionários de uma organização burocrática ao serem chamados à gerência participativa, ainda que de forma operacional, na implantação da ferramenta. Busca-se refletir sobre a adequação desta ferramenta, que a despeito de sua simplicidade técnica e operacional, pressupõe uma mudança comportamental de seus colaboradores, para que se tenham resultados práticos. Enfatiza-se a presença do patrocinador em todas as etapas do processo, para que o programa possa ser bem sucedido. A metodologia utilizada foi a pesquisa-ação, considerando-se que o autor participou internamente do processo, não tendo sido somente um observador / Abstract: This work tries to analyze the implementation of the 5S program in a ¿Fundação de Direito Privado¿ (Private Right Public Foundation): ¿Fundação para o Desenvolvimento da Educação¿ (Foundation for the Development of Education), FDE, aiming at its organizational improvement. Some questions guided the analysis: firstly, it is investigated whether this tool has been adapted to start a management process through the Total Quality Management; the importance of a sponsor in a high position for the effective implantation and maintenance of the program has also been investigated; finally, the way the employees of a bureaucratic organization behave when they are called to the management participation (though an operational way) in the implantation of the tool is analysed as well. One attempts to reflect about the suitability of this tool, which, in spite of its technical and operational simplicity, presupposes a behavioral change in the collaborators, so that practical results can be obtained. The sponsor's presence is emphasized in all the stages of the process, so that the program may succeed. This diploma thesis deals with the description and reflection of the strategic planning process in a non-profit organization. From the theoretical foundation, presented in the first part of this thesis, the author creates a model of the methods by introducing the strategic approach into the praxis of management in the chosen non-profit organization. In the practical part of this thesis she describes and reflects the process of participative establishment of the strategic plan for one of the services of this organization. In the conclusion of the thesis she deduces from the practical findings some recommendations.
