[en] CONCEPTION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SELF-MANAGING GROUPS: ANALYSIS OF TWO INDUSTRIAL CASES / [pt] CONCEPÇÃO E IMPLANTAÇÃO DE GRUPOS AUTOGERENCIÁVEIS: ANÁLISE DE DOIS CASOS INDUSTRIAISJACILEIDE DE ALMEIDA SERAFIM 29 August 2005 (has links)
concepção e implantação do novo modelo. Uma análise
comparativa
[en] The present dissertation aims at identifying and
understanding the process of
conception and implementation of self-managing groups in
production.
Following the methodology of case study, the experiences of
two companies are
observed: AmBev and Michelin. The main intent is to
understand each approach,
describing the organizational context before the changes
towards self-managing
groups and also the key steps for implementing the new
model. Then, the two
cases are comparatively interpreted, leading to some
conclusions about what
should be the most important factors to be taken into
account when implementing
self-managing groups. It is worth noting that, in both
companies, the conception
of the respective models emerges from observations of a
variety of concrete cases
related to the experiences of other plants or companies.
They were hardly
influenced by theory. Although the two approaches share
many similar steps,
some significant differences can be highlighted. Finally,
such similarities and
differences are analyzed in order to grasp factors that can
induce or constrain the
development of self-managing groups.

default, includes the managing partner as a subject supportive liabilities of obligation,
causing his personal property to meet the tax debt, together with the legal person,
just by the company to close its doors without communicating the board of trade,
assuming uneven dissolution of the company. Such an understanding has remained
pacified the Superior Court of Justice through summary 435. This work seeks to bring
the true tax liability of the managing partner of the limited partnership addressing the
legality of the court decision and the state action, supported by the doctrine and
jurisprudence, within the parameters legal and seeking a framework of equality for
both parties. The text was developed as a major scientific method deductive
approach in the proposed theme and research used the bibliographical and
electronic, from material published consists of doctrinal books, and data available via
the Internet, especially legislation and jurisprudence understandings. It was
concluded that the interpretation given by the Superior Court, according to the study,
undermines the principle of legality to which the State is bound, as there is edited law
permitting such action, causing the government does not compete on equal terms
with the private having privileges in relation to the receipt of your claim.

Previous issue date: 2013-12-26 / FAPEAM - Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas / This research analyses the management and implantation of school council in three public schools at the east district of Manaus in articulation with the public policy for local and national education. The investigation presents a regulatory mark in public policy, bringing in democratic managing conceptions for the nature and concept of school council. The research is supported by the dialectic method and uses a qualitative approach on document analysis, semi-structured interviews, and on questionnaires. For document analysis, were selected: laws, decrees, resolutions, regulations, public school general guide rules, school intern guide rules, and school political pedagogic project, as well as social statute model and records of school council meetings. The interviews privileged the managers in the three schools and a representative member of the Support Division of the School Management of Secretaria Municipal de Educação de Manaus – SEMED. The questionnaires were applied to the school council members who represent the school and local community segments of the three selected schools. The results of the research show the establishment of directresses and actions of SEMED for implantation of the school council in Manaus municipal teaching net, from 2008 on. On these directresses, it is identified the transference of the recourse executor unit from Parents, Masters and Community Association – APMC to the school council. These results reveal significant points presented by the school council members, after the creation of this collegiate organ. In questions common to the three schools, it is noticed that the school councils give priority to the executor function of financial recourses in detriment of the attributions of this collegiate: the deliberative, the consultive, the fiscal controlling, and mobility actions. The results show that the research subjects commented the participation of the school and local community as the main way of assuring a democratic managing. In the distinct points presented in the process of school council implantation in the three schools it is pointed out an active participation of this collegiate organ, in contrast with an unsatisfactory participation in the other schools. Otherwise, the representative members of two schools in the school council took part in the construction of the Pedagogical Politic Project – PPP. The results of the research show that the school council will have several challenges to effectively consolidate all the attributions and, then contribute in the processes of school democratic managing. The research suggests reflections for educational policy regarding to the school council of Manaus municipal teaching system with the perspective of having an articulating, and mediating collegiate council for democratic public school, and consequently a better teaching quality.

Assessing estimators of feral goat (Capra hircus) abundanceTracey, John Paul, n/a January 2004 (has links)
(1) Reliable measures of population abundance are essential for managing wildlife
effectively. Aerial surveys provide a rapid and efficient means of surveying large mammals
and many techniques have been developed to adjust for the inability to count all animals
within transects. The probability of detection varies according to a range of factors which
are important to consider when estimating density. Standardised survey methods developed
in flat country are not readily transferable to steep terrain due to safety, access and
difficulties delineating transect widths. Other methods have logistic constraints and must
adhere to various other assumptions.
(2) Density estimators are seldom examined using actual population size, hence their
ability to correct for true bias is unknown. Studies that compare techniques are difficult to
interpret because of the uncertainty of adherence to their respective assumptions. Factors
influencing detection probability, estimators that correct for bias, the validity of their
assumptions and how these relate to true density are important considerations for selecting
suitable methods. The aim of this study was to obtain accurate and reliable methods for
estimating the density of feral goats by improving predictions of detection probability,
investigating the assumptions of aerial surveys, and examining the accuracy of 15 density
estimators by comparing with total counts of feral goats.
(3) Group size, vegetation and observer were the most important factors influencing the
probability of observing a group of goats during aerial surveys. However, different
approaches to analysing these data influenced the significance of variables and the
predicted probabilities. Goat colour, type of helicopter, site and rear observer experience in
hours were also found to be significant (P<0.05) when using likelihood equations based on
all animals in the population rather than only those in the sample. The slope of the terrain
was also shown to significantly (P=0.014) affect the probability of detection.
(4) Indices are commonly used in wildlife management for their simplicity and
practicality, but their validity has been questioned because of variable probability of
detection. Results of this study suggest aerial survey indices are useful in monitoring a
range of medium-sized mammal species across space and time if differences in detection
probability between species, group size, vegetation and observer are considered and their
effects are standardised.
(5) An assumption of most sampling regimes that is fundamental but rarely examined is
that animals are not counted more than once. In this study the behavioural responses of
feral goats to helicopters were investigated as a basis for estimating the probability that
goats were recounted. No long-term consequences were evident in feral goat behaviour of
responses to helicopters. However, helicopter surveys were found to alter the structure of
42% of groups observed, with 28% of groups merging with others and 14% splitting into
separate groups. Therefore, group size estimated from the air should not be considered as
biologically important, and when estimating density, researchers should also avoid using
group sizes determined from independent ground observations to correct group sizes
determined from aerial surveys. Goats were also more likely to flush further when
helicopters were within 150 m, which is close to or within standard helicopter strip widths.
Substantial movement occurred between transects and 21% of goats were estimated to be
available for recounting in adjacent transects.
(6) Different detection probabilities between groups of goats may be particularly
relevant when using double-counting, where multiple observers are capturing and
recapturing animals in the same instant. Many analyses test and adjust for this unequal
catchability assumption in different ways, with the approaches of Huggins and Alho
allowing prediction of unique probability values for a range of co-variates. The approach of
Chao attempts to correct for skewed distributions in small samples. The Horvitz-Thompson
approach provides a useful basis for estimating abundance (or density) when detection
probability can be estimated and is known to vary between observations according to a
range of independent variables, and also avoids errors associated with averaging group size.
(7) After correcting for recounting, the Alho estimator applied to helicopter surveys
was the most accurate (Bias = 0.02) and reliable of all techniques, which suggests that
estimates were improved by taking into account unconditional detection probability and
correcting individual observations according to their characteristics. The positive bias
evident in the Chao (Bias = 0.28) and Petersen (Bias = 0.15) aerial survey estimators may
have been a result of averaging detection probability across all observations. The
inconsistency and inaccuracy of the ground-based area-count technique emphasises the
importance of other assumptions in density estimation, such as representative sampling and
availability bias. The accuracy of index-manipulation-index techniques was dependent on
the indices used. Capture-recapture estimates using mustering showed slight negative bias
(Bias = -0.08), which was likely a result of increased probability of re-capture (i.e. trap
happy). Ground-based capture-resight estimates were labour intensive and positively biased
(Bias = 0.13), likely due to underestimating the area sampled, or overestimating the number
of unmarked individuals with each sample.
(8) Helicopter survey using double-counting is recommended for estimating the density
of feral goats in steep terrain. However, consideration of recounting under intensive
sampling regimes and adjustments for the factors that influence unconditional detection
probability is required.

Internationalization through Acquisition : A Case Study of Getinge ABHuang, Jinlong, Wang, Hui January 2010 (has links)
<p>Business has seen tremendous growth through internationalization over the last several decades. As one of the strategies for companies to internationalize, acquisition has since then been a well-studied subject. Various steps have to be gone through in order to acquire a company. Afterwards, companies need to take different measures to ensure the success of the acquisition. Culture is usually considered as the most important aspect which determines post-acquisition success. The purpose of this master dissertation is to thus investigate company’s internationalization via acquisition regarding the pre-acquisition decision-making and post-acquisition cultural management. The theoretical framework consists of literature of pre-acquisition decision-making process and post-acquisition culture management. These theories are put together in an analytical model where possible connections are intended to achieve. It will also be used as a foundation in gathering and analyzing the empirical data. In a qualitative approach, the empirical data was gathered through semi-structured interview with the president of Getinge International Group. These findings were also complemented with secondary data such as corporate websites, documents and various scientific articles. The findings of the study show that planning, evaluating, negotiating, making the deal and integration are the five essential steps concerning the process of internationalization through acquisition. The authors find out that identifying of acquisition candidates is not necessarily a part of pre-acquisition as the theory may suggest. The distinction between bolt-on and platform acquisition is of critical importance to determine the different criteria and procedure certain company is going to take. This proves to be much more practical, where theoretical support has not been fully established. Both national and corporate cultures are of crucial importance for the success of company’s post-acquisition culture management. According to the finding of this research, two factors seem to link pre and post acquisition process; one is the planning of how future organization is managed; the other is the appropriate choice of managing director.</p>

Background: In Sweden, approximately 50 000 people have venous leg ulcers and the cost of treating these is estimated to around one billion SEK. Slow-healing venous leg ulcers can affect individuals on a physical, mental and social level. The aim: To describe patients' experiences of managing symptoms related to slow-healing venous leg ulcers. Method: A qualitative research interview with semi-structured questions was applied as the method of data collection and conducted in four health centres in central Sweden with a total of 11 participants. The material was then evaluated by content analysis. The result: The participants largely learned to adapt the difficulties caused by leg ulcer. The pain was managed for example by taking painkillers, which also could improve the sleep. When showering plastic bags, cling film or plastic socks were used to avoid soaking the bandage and in the case of reduced mobility walking aids such as walkers, crutches or wheelchairs were used. By informing friends and family about the existence of the leg ulcer, social interaction was improved and by thinking positively, diverting negative thought patterns through free-time activities and comparing with those who had it worse the participants could more easily accept the leg ulcer. Conclusion: Patients with difficult-to-heal venous leg ulcers can adapt to the symptoms caused by the leg ulcer by using coping strategies to deal with everyday life. Family members are an important part of this adaptation. By thinking positively, divert negative thought patterns of the leg ulcer by activating and compare with those who had it worse, the person can more easily accept their leg ulcers.
