Causalidade e hermeneutica em sociologia da ciencia : uma critica ao Programa Forte de David Bloor / Causality and hermeneutics in sociology of science : a critics to David Bloor's Strong Programme

Gomes, Vicente de Paula 13 August 2008 (has links)
Orientador: Jose Carlos Pinto de Oliveira / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Filosofia e Ciencias Humanas / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-11T13:32:04Z (GMT). The aim of this work is examine use of principle of causality in sociology of science investigation, like defend the School of Edinburgh¿s strong programme. For David Bloor sociology of science must locate ¿causes of belief, that is, general laws relating beliefs to conditions which are necessary and sufficient to determine them¿. In this definition predominate elements of deductivist conception of science, among them that science must pursue causal explanations. Analysis of link between knowledge and social factors in exemplaries cases studies detected that their authors not use arguments holding causal laws and necessary and sufficient conditions. In that cases the connection among facts not have a causal conceptual nature, this connection not can be represented like a expression of a causal law. The relation among cultural objects not can be express in a causal form because their meanings ¿transcend¿ their space-time dimension. For appropriate characterization of interpenetration between psycho experiences and social situation the identification of elements like motivation and intencionality of subjects not can be brought about by causal criterion. There is a alternative model in Karl Mannheim¿s sociology of knowledge. In this the investigation of facts involved is achieved by hermeneutics method. Here the interpretation é presented like a process of explicitness how the preceding of acts or human works ¿ intention, ideal, rules, beliefs, habits, and his social context ¿ impress meaning to this acts or works. The apology of the hermeneutics method not mean the proposal of a weak programme to sociology of science, because hermeneutics é able to characterize the determination of content of knowledge by social factors. The return to Mannheim not represent a backstep in relation to the progress of strong programme in to consider the natural sciences linked to social context. There is not impediment to a investigation of relation of theory in natural sciences and social factors use the hermeneutics model. Neither hermeneutics proposition represent a return to debate of twentieth century, characterized for a oposition between explanation and understanding. The proposition is up to date because a ¿interpretive turn¿ is more and more present in contemporary philosophy of science / Doutorado / Filosofia da Ciencia / Doutor em Filosofia

Porovnání výsledků kookurenční databanky (CCDB) a kookurenční analýzy / Comparing results of the co-occurrence database (CCDB) and the co-occurrence analysis

Křesťanová, Jitka January 2017 (has links)
This paper deals with corpus linguistics. There are two applications under its scrutiny. Both of these applications are processing data from the corpus DeReKo via corpus-driven approach. It is a co-occurrence analysis and a Co-occurrence database. The aim of the work is to evaluate whether the results obtained by the co-occurrence analysis of the current scope of DeReKo are different from the results of the Co-occurrence database, which was created on a basis of a smaller scale corpus. In addition, this thesis offers illustrative examples of the use of both applications and the evaluation of their effectiveness, depending on the purpose of the research. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the terminology of corpus linguistics and with the mentioned corpuses, which serve as a basis for the practical part of the thesis. The empirical part of the thesis consists of analyses of the randomly picked words (one from each word class) in both applications. The results confirm that the data obtained with Co-occurrence database and co-occurrence analysis are in many respects different and thus confirm the hypothesis that the corpus size plays a crucial role in the results. Both applications have their advantages and disadvantages. The paper offers a comprehensive overview and by doing so it...

Erschließungsdaten besser nutzen: Geographische Recherche mit SWD-Ländercodes

Wiesenmüller, Heidrun, Pfeffer, Magnus 22 December 2011 (has links)

Edmund Burke's German readers at the end of Enlightenment, 1790-1815

Green, Jonathan January 2018 (has links)
Amidst the upheaval of the French Revolution, the British parliamentarian and political theorist Edmund Burke received a vibrant reception in German-speaking Europe. Anxious to uncover the ideological roots of the anarchy that enveloped France – and worried that their own society might be vulnerable to a similar fate – a series of important German thinkers began studying his Reflections on the Revolution in France (1790). This dissertation brings into focus the diverse interpretations of Burke that were assembled in this turbulent era, and explains them vis-à-vis contemporary debates among German idealists (Kant and his heirs) about the philosophical nature of freedom. This dissertation centers on Burke’s three most perceptive and influential students: the civil servant and philosopher August Wilhelm Rehberg; the journalist, translator, and diplomat Friedrich Gentz; and the political economist and cultural critic Adam Müller. For many decades, both German- and English-speaking intellectual historians have shoehorned these thinkers into a rigid ideological box labeled ‘conservatism’. Inspired by Burke, they are said to have turned away from the ideals of Enlightenment, theorizing an illiberal form of politics that was traditionalistic, authoritarian, and reactionary. A careful, contextualized reconstruction of their engagements with Burke, however, renders this thesis untenable. Far from triggering a monolithic backlash against Enlightenment, Burke in fact inspired a series of divergent, and often incompatible, analyses of the Revolution’s origins, grounded in different readings of his Reflections. Rehberg, for instance, saw Burke as a principled skeptic: he admired the Reflections as an incisive critique of the revolutionaries’ philosophical dogmatism. Gentz, an erstwhile student of Kant, disagreed completely, arguing that Burke’s politics were entirely compatible with Kantian metaphysics. In his view, the Reflections’ central insight was that it takes political prudence to realize the rights of man in practice. Müller, finally, read the Reflections as a lament for the fall of Christendom, and as a diagnosis of the social alienation and moral confusion that had followed its demise. In other words, whereas Rehberg was a Humean skeptic and Gentz was a Kantian liberal, Müller was a Trinitarian Christian. Each of these men, moreover, claimed Burke as an ally. What this means is that Rehberg, Gentz, and Müller cannot have jointly invented a single thing called ‘conservatism’, and Burke cannot have inspired it. This becomes clear only after we recognize that at the turn of the nineteenth century, neither the meaning of Enlightenment nor the crux of Burke’s Reflections was clear: these were not fixed variables, but points of contemporary debate. By recapturing the diversity of Burke’s German reception, this thesis invites scholars to consider the ways that his students shepherded their differing visions of Enlightenment through the fires of the Revolution, down into the nineteenth century.

The reception of political romanticism in the Weimar Republic

Roques, Christian 25 November 2011 (has links)
This PhD thesis offers an archeological analysis of the discourses on « political romanticism » in the Weimar Republic. It shall endeavour to analyze the discursive patterns which revolved around the « romantic » paradigm between 1918 and 1933 by resorting to a concept of « reception » which minimizes the importance of the « author ». By studying the works of thinkers who explicitly refer to « political romanticism » (Sigmund Rubinstein, Carl Schmitt, Hans Freyer, Othmar Spann, Karl Mannheim, Wilhelm von Schramm, Paul Tillich) and the social networks they belong to one may assert the existence of a romantic « sensibility » which is at the core of the intellectual universe of the Weimar Republic, transcends political differences traditionally considered as essential (left/right, conservative/progressive, nationalist/universalist etc.) and is fundamentally opposed to the materialist individualism of capitalist liberalism.

This autonomy appears in the design of social reality on the one hand and the configuration of a new epistemological model on the other. In view of this, this work suggests discussing the prospect of Karl Mannheim as an assessment of previous proposals (Positivism and Marxism) and therefore being able to open a new model of Social Sciences by redefining both the design of social reality on the modern epistemology. Therefore, the bias to this approach is the notion of ideology, used by Mannheim to support as a social ontology that prints the determination in social science, where to find the basis of Social Sciences. In this way for it will redeem the originality of the questions and answers presented by the author for the formation of Social Sciences / A fundamentação das Ciências Sociais no século XIX corresponde a uma tentativa de estabelecer um campo de saber autônomo a partir do debate com a Filosofia Moderna.
