Aysu, Faruk Tekin, 1927- January 1971 (has links)
Although there are many laboratory manuals in microbiology for differenct professions (e.g., A General Microbiology Manual for Nurses, Laboratory Manual for Professional Students in the Medical Sciences, etc.), there has been no laboratory manual in this area for Turkish High School Biology Teachers. The author anticipates that the present manual will be successful in accomplishing the objective of better preparing Turkish High School Biology Teachers. In summer courses, teachers from all of Turkey gather to learn new science ideas, and gain new skills by studying in the laboratories. This manual is intended for use as a study guide in these summer courses. The author has conducted all experiments in the laboratory manual and has attempted to assure that fundamental principles of bacteriology and diagnostic microbiology are interwoven in a functional pattern.

An edition with commentary of the Speculum huius vite, a fifteenth-century pastoral manual in English

Trudel, Guy Alan January 1999 (has links)
The Speculum huius vite is a pastoral manual composed in English around the end of the fourteenth century. It is, on one level, an abbreviated version of the Prick of Conscience, arguably one of the most popular English texts of the late middle ages; but the Speculum is more than simply an abbreviation of a popular text, since it refashions its source to accommodate a new emphasis and new material, including a commentary on the ten commandments and some shorter exhortations to the clergy and laity regarding humility and modesty. Evidence from the two manuscripts of the Speculum (Bodleian MS Additional A. 268, fols. 117r-139r, and Dublin Trinity Coll. MS 155, pp. 149-238) and from two related manuscripts of the Prick of Conscience (Cambridge University Library MS Dd.12.69, fols. 37r-97v and Cambridge, Mass., Harvard University Library MS 155, fols. 1-77) indicates that two revisions were involved in the production of the Speculum from the Prick of Conscience. The dialect of the poem has been extensively studied to determine whether it is possible to make any conjectures concerning the geographical source of the first and second revisions of the text. The text was probably used for catechetical instruction, private reading, and preaching within the tradition of English catechetical manuals produced after the Fourth Lateran Council. The thesis provides a description of the manuscripts of the text (Chapter One), discussions of the historical context of the poem (Chapter Two), the sources and immediate context of the poem (Chapter Three), the relationship of the manuscripts (Chapter Four), and the language and dialect of the text (Chapter Five). These are followed by notes on editorial procedure, an edition of the text, a glossary, notes to the text, and a bibliography.

Estruturas icônicas nas cartilhas de treinamentos quadrinizadas / Iconic structures in training comics

Ed Marcos Sarro 05 May 2009 (has links)
The present work refers to the study of the concept of structure while the iconic representation of ideas, simple and complex, (by the visual elements of comics) and their presence in training manuals turned into this graphic language. The research seeks to confirm if there is such kind of thing as a set of minimal units of signification in comics which universal features would allow intuitive interpretation of its codes, making communication via manuals more efficacious. The theorical reference is based upon the perspectives of sciences of language (linguistics, semiotics and visual semiology), the theories of communication, design theory and on applied human sciences. The object of this study is a training manual about environmental education and recycling published as a comic book and planned for the use of operational employees but also for their families and community. The study has concluded that, although the existence of a collection of elementary and universal iconic signs, sometimes handling this signs depends on the articulation with more complex signs and on the help of verbal text for means of higher precision, besides the possession of a certain previous background.
