Att vara eller inte vara Charlie : En retorisk analys av opinionsmaterial från svenska webbtidningar efter attentatet mot Charlie Hebdos redaktion / To be or not to be Charlie Hebdo : A qualitative study of the debate in Swedish web magazines regarding the attack against Charlie Hebdos editorial office

Henrikson, Emilie, Lundholm, Erica January 2015 (has links)
This study aims to examine the argumentation regarding freedom of speech and the statement “je suis Charlie” (“I am Charlie”) in eight opinion articles from different Swedish web magazines. Two doctotral dissertations who’s main topics are the freedom of speech and different types of arguments regarding freedom of speach, was used in this study. The study also uses the actual Swedish law surrounding the freedom of speech, as well as the freedom of the press and breaches of these laws. Also mentioned as different types of theories are; utilitarianism and journalism ethics and standards. This is a qualitative study using rhetorical analysis as a main method, but the study also uses some tools from the field of argument analysis, such as theses and main arguments. The results from this study shows, amongst other things, that various arguments can be used when trying to get your view surrounding the freedom of speech across. However there seems to be a clear difference between the writers who argue that the freedom of speech is more important than the right to not having to be discriminated by a statement or an utterance, and the writers who argue that the right to not having to be discriminated by a statement is more important than the right to potentially disciminate someone while uttering something. The writers who share the first view presented here, that the freedom of speech is more important, are also the ones who support the expression ”I am Charlie”, and the writers who don’t think that the freedom of speech is of more importance than the right to not having to be discriminated, does not support the expression ”I am Charlie”. However, while looking at this study, it’s imoportant that the reader bares in mind that the results from it doesn’t say anythning about anything else apart from the articles studied.

Nová, Alena January 2016 (has links)
This diploma thesis strives to find an answer to the question of how the regional daily paper Pravda published by the West-Bohemian Regional Committee of KSČ in Pilsen informed about the principal events of the year 1989, namely the series of January demonstrations in the centre of Prague later called "Palach Week", about the Several Sentences Petition published in the midyear by Charter 77, about the demonstrations organized on the occasions of the 21 August 1968 and 28 October 1918 anniversaries, and about the "Velvet Revolution" that put an end to the more than 40-year reign of the Communist Party (KSČ) in Czechoslovakia. The thesis also ascertains to what extent the information provided by Pravda was distorted by the regime propaganda, and compares the approach of this daily paper to informing about the principal 1989 events with that of the central KSČ daily Rudé právo. The diploma thesis also describes the way of how the West-Bohemian Regional Committee of KSČ in Pilsen assessed the development of the political situation in the country in the year 1989 and how it controlled the Pravda daily paper. The theoretical part of the thesis familiarizes with the political and economic situation in Czechoslovakia in the 1980s and describes the relevant milestones in 1989. The thesis core part is the...

Behovet alltid större än möjligheterna : En fallstudie av de drabbade kommunernas kriskommunikation i samband med branden i Västmanland / The need is always greater than the potential : A case study of the affected municipalities crisis communications in connection with the fire in Västmanland

Burman, Josefine, Hosten, Linnea January 2015 (has links)
The tsunami in Thailand in 2004, 9/11 and hurricane Katrina in New Orleans 2005 are all reminders that no organization is immune to crises, which also means that all organizations should be prepared and know how to handle a crisis if one was to occur.   A case study has been conducted, on a crisis regarding a fire that occurred on the 31st of July 2014 in Västmanland, Sweden. Through Qualitative interviews empirical data was gathered and then analyzed together with our theories and previous research. The purpose of the study is to analyze how the municipalities affected and the County Administrative Board of Sweden handled and communicated with/to the public during the fire that spread in Västmanland 2014.   Our study shows that a risk analysis and analysis of surroundings is crucial in anticipating a crisis event and that it is essential for organizations to undergo training to prepare organization members on how to handle a crisis. Another conclusion is that the need for information is large during a crisis event and grows throughout the entire course of the crisis. The crisis that we studied had a lack of information, but at the same time the public’s need for information is a need that can’t be satisfied during a crisis. And if the organizations concerned do not satisfy the public’s need for information, rumors will start to disseminate to cater to the public’s needs. Rumors have always been a part of crisis communication but has with today’s technologies assumed a digital form which means that they can spread to a wider group of people. The digital and social media constituted of an essential tool for the affected stakeholders crisis communication and the local radio played an important role in managing the crisis.

條件利他媒體娛樂模式: 探討雙方好惡相反對於個人決策與媒體娛樂感之影響 / The Conditional Prosocial Enjoyment Model: The influence of dyadic preference conflict on media content selection and anticipated enjoyment

康耕輔, Kang, Keng Fu Unknown Date (has links)
This study explores how dyadic relationship types and media content influence personal selection and anticipated enjoyment in dyadic preference conflict situation, and the underlying mechanism. This study conducted a series of experiments in the laboratory to investigate the dilemma from different media entertaining scenarios. This study conceptualized the dilemma situation from Interdependence theory (Kelley et al., 2003), and using attachment theories to propose that dyadic relationship types may influence the pro-relationship level of personal decision through sense of attachment in the relationship. And the pro-relationship level of personal decision may influence subsequent anticipated enjoyment through enhancing connectedness between each other. Moreover, dyadic preference conflict may moderate the influence of relationship types on the pro-relationship level of personal decision, and subsequent anticipated enjoyment. The results revealed that when dyadic preference is conflicted, making more pro-relationship decision doesn’t produce more positive anticipated enjoyment. Only in the conditional which dyadic preference is closer, making more pro-relationship decision produces more positive anticipated enjoyment because of enhancing their connectedness. The study proposed one new model called “The Conditional Prosocial Enjoyment Model” to explain how dyadic relationship types interact with preference conflict to influence personal selection of media content, and subsequent anticipated enjoyment thought interpersonal connectedness.

Integration of social media records into enterprise content management at the South African Broadcasting corporation in the Limpopo Provincial office in South Africa

Masekoameng, Moshohli Frans 03 1900 (has links)
The integration of social media records into enterprise content management systems is crucial to organisations as it enables them to have access to these records if they are required for evidential purposes. However, despite social media content being considered as official records in state-owned enterprises, they are often left unmanaged. The purpose of this study was to investigate the integration of social media content into the enterprise content management system at the South African Broadcast Corporation Limpopo provincial office in South Africa. The study utilised quantitative data collected through questionnaires distributed to SABC employees and employees at three radio stations in the Limpopo provincial office (Munghanalonene FM, Thobela FM and Phalaphala FM). The key results suggest that there were no policies or guidelines on the management of digital records that emanated from social media. It was discovered that the SABC’s Limpopo provincial office opened official accounts with various social media platforms such as SNSs, online content communities and podcasts to use for official matters; yet content generated through these platforms is neither managed nor preserved. It has been established that the responsibility of managing social media content is unconsciously assigned to the creators of the content as no official records management responsibilities were assigned. It is recommended that digital records emanating from the use of social media by the staff of the SABC Limpopo provincial office need to be treated and managed as official records, like all other paper-based records. In this regard, a policy for integration of social media content into enterprise content management is desirable. A further study on the development of a framework to integrate social media content into organisational records management is recommended. social media content, social media platform, enterprise content management, digital records, records, records management, online content communities, South African Broadcasting Authority. / Information Science / M.A.(Information Science)

Reflexe výskytu a podmínek zařazování sociálních témat do zpravodajských reportáží regionálních televizí / Occurence reflection and seletction criteria of social issues in the regional television reports

KRONIKA, Ondřej Alexandr January 2013 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the incidence of social issues in news reports, broadcasted by regional television stations operating in the South Bohemia Region from 2009 to 2012. Mixed research was used to investigate the number and content of the reports (quantitative part of the research) that are related to the social sphere. The research, according to number of reports, defines their ratio to other topics. Content analysis then examines what topics of social work are preferred by the media. Information subsequently served as the basis for interviews with the editors ? in chief of the surveyed television stations (qualitative part). Respondents in their statements make clear running of television stations and the criteria by which selected topics for coverage are selected, as well. Besides editor ? in chiefs´ attitudes towards the presentation of social work in the media, the interviews publish factors than can promote the presentation and vice versa the criteria that act against mediation of social issues. Within the framework of the ethical dimension of work, the interview also focuses on issue, if an editor´s personal belief, regarding the importance of presentation of social topics, can influence the occurrence of this issue in the news, despite professional standards and values that do not support such kind of presentation. Interview can find out whether editors do not feel a dilemma or what is decisive, in preference to either personal attitudes or professional standards. As a form of the thesis was picked out a form of a theoretical work. This work is, in independent chapters, devoted to just the areas of ethics, social work and media. A chapter that deals with the direct relationship between social work and media forms a theoretical part of the thesis, as well. Besides the definition of basic concepts, theoretical part provides a background for research, presents some research files, categories for investigation and also arguments for the formulation of hypotheses.
