Is This Social TV 3.0? On Funk and Social Media Policy in German Public Post-television Content ProductioStollfuß, Sven 04 April 2023 (has links)
This article investigates how social media affects German public television. Due to recent dynamics in the field of social TV, notions of social TV as basically “tweeting while watching TV,” or as an “additional function” of television, need to be revised. As an addition to existing ideas of “Social TV 1.0” and “Social TV 2.0” and other characterizations, I refer here to “Social TV 3.0.” Current social TV features need to be characterized in the light of a “network of content” that combines the “media logic of television” and the “logic of social media” by means of their dynamic, flexible, and horizontal integration into the “matrix-media strategy” of TV executives impelled by a social media policy. By taking the content network funk (“a consortium of public broadcasters” [ARD] and “Second German Television” [ZDF]) as a prime example of social TV 3.0 in Germany, I analyze the merging of television and social media.

Understanding News Media Viewing and Selection Patterns: FoMO and User Consumption of News Content on Social Media InterfacesChristopher, Nicolette D 01 January 2018 (has links)
The current study employs a regional sample in order to investigate the phenomenon of fear-of-missing-out (FoMO), the awareness associated with the fear that other individuals are having a more pleasurable experience that one is not a part of. The current study uniquely examines the role that FoMO plays in viewing patterns associated with news content on social media interfaces. The 10-item scale created by Przybylski, Myrayama, DeHaan, and Gladwell in 2013 was used as a basis to discover the degree of FoMO participants experience while online, while other questions of the survey serve to collect data about participants sociodemographic's, engagement with soft and hard news content, and overall social media usage. (Przybylski, Myrayama, DeHaan, Gladwell 2013). The objective is to demonstrate the influential effects that FoMO poses on media consumer viewing patterns and behaviors.

The aim of this thesis is to determine how the debate about equality in the culture of video and computer games appears in different kind of web based media. And what underlying reasons may affect the outcome of the discourse. The theoretical perspectives used in this study is based on a gender perspective complemented with the concept of hegemony, myths and stereotypes. This examination is based on a critical discourse analysis and Fairclough’s three dimensional model of discourse, the material has been collected with a quantitative content analysis. The result of the study shows that inequality in the culture of video and computer games is a big problem. The result is a study of constant repression against women, threats and harassment. The deduction of this study is that the patriarchy is the fundamental structure that has created the current culture of gaming. And as long as the patriarchy exsists, so will the inequality, not only in society, but in the ever growing culture of video and computer games.

Navigating the Skies and the Seas : Organizational Response to the Transportation Sector´s Integration into the EU ETSBlom, Linus, Wolf, Frederic January 2024 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the European Union Emission Trading System (EU ETS) and draws a comparison between the introduction of the aviation industry in 2012 and the maritime industry in 2024 into the EU ETS by analyzing industry resistance as portrayed in newspaper articles. In doing so, the thesis aims to identify whether there has been a shift in organizational resistance, and if so, what the change looks like. Using content analysis, we coded a time frame of three years surrounding each introduction event respectively, processing 134 articles for the aviation industry and 132 articles for the maritime industry. Building on the coding, a quantitative analysis was employed to identify shifts in portrayed patterns. The key result from our findings shows a notable shift in the portrayal of the EU ETS from resistance to compliance. Furthermore, we can see a change in focus on more environmental highlights as well as a relocated focus from critique aimed toward the entire system to a growing focus on its practical implementation. Drawing on institutional theory, we seek to explain the shift through growing legitimacy for climate policies resulting in an increase in the cost of resistance against said systems. Our data indicates that rising resistance costs not only diminish the occurrence of resistance but also significantly boost voiced compliance. From a practical standpoint, our findings suggest the need to include industries in the practical implementation processes to ease the shift towards a sustainable economy.

Also the terms actor's character and dramatic character helped to distinguish the real persons represented in media from their media image. The audience often does not realize this difference and accept the offered interpretation from the media and media image of the public life persons as a part of their understanding of public affairs. Dramatic situations are made up in the news service and the goal is to attract attention of viewers and readers.
