Česko-balkánský kontrapunkt: etnografie fenoménu balkán v Praze / Czech-Balkan counterpoint: Ethnography of the phenomenon Balkan music in PragueLibánská, Alena January 2018 (has links)
This Ph.D. thesis deals with the musical phenomenon Balkan music in Prague. The so- called Balkan music (in the sense of Shelemay's 2006 soundscape) is considered to be the result of social negotiating (counterpoint) between the agents, i.e., the Czech musicians and audience, and also those (musicians and audience) who originally come from the Balkan countries. Using the tools of ethnographic research, the thesis explores the nature of this relationship. Specifically, I focus on the very creation of the concept Balkan music in the Czech scene and the role the Balkan migration plays in its formation. It turns out that the very imagination of the 'Balkans' plays a key role in defining the phenomenon, and the form of music itself is the result of the imaginations of (an imaginary) milieu (i.e., stereotypes) that is perceived as culturally distant (Todorova 2009).

Radikálny islamisti: trójsky kôň terrorizmus alebo kriminálnici / Radical Islamists: A Trojan Horse of Terrorism or CriminalsGergely, Frederik January 2019 (has links)
This work focuses on analysis of radical Islamist (jihadist) terrorism in Europe with specific focus on refugees. The basic aim of this work is to determine, whether refugees are more prone to radicalization, criminal activity or terrorism. Special attention will be given to refugees that came to Europe since 2015 and the special aim is to determine, whether they can be considered as trojan horse of terrorism, criminals or they pose no threat in topic of either terrorism or criminality. This work is divided into three main chapters and numerous subchapters. In the first part of the work, the phenomenon of terrorism is closely analysed. This chapter concentrates on difficulties of achieving a common definition of terrorism, provides various definitions and their critique, looks on definitional elements and roots of terrorism, discusses theories of terrorism and presents various types of terrorism. Second chapter lists out the occurrence of jihadist terrorism in Europe since 2015 and reviews it. A special view is offered by listing out successful jihadist attacks committed by refugees since 2015. Third chapter focuses on the analysis of three things - radicalization among refugees, criminal activity among refugees and the possibility of the occurrence of migratory terrorism. The main research...

Migrace a rozvoj: Meta-analýza / Migration and Development: A Meta-AnalysisPalecek Rodríguez, Miroslava María January 2020 (has links)
The current literature on international migration is diverse, and there is an ongoing debate as to the size and magnitude of the development-migration nexus, and no consensus about this effect has been reached. In this thesis, I explore quantitatively the effect of GDP (as a measure of development) on migration using a meta-analysis approach by synthesizing the empirical findings on this effect, adjusting for the biases, and controlling for the design of the studies. To examine the phenomenon in a systematic way, I collected 179 regression coefficients from 40 different articles, where the results suggest a weak presence of publication selection. Nevertheless, when correcting for publication bias, the effect of development on migration is rather small. Additionally, to explain the inherent model uncertainty, the Bayesian model averaging (BMA) was conducted. The results suggest that studies controlling for the variables of direct foreign investment and age results in a larger effect of development on migration and that the presence of country- level differences boosts migration inflows, particularly in OECD countries.

Mnoho tváří Černobylu: temporalita, toxicita, komplexita v životech environmentálních migrantů / Many faces of Chernobyl: temporality, toxicity, complexity in the lives of environmental migrantsPodlesná, Valentina January 2020 (has links)
The diploma thesis focuses on the topic of environmental migration because of the Chernobyl nuclear accident in 1986. The main questions of the thesis are whether the Chernobyl accident is associated at any social level with environmental migration to the Czech Republic? To what time is the event socially framed? In what areas and how does the accident currently affect the lives of the environmental migrants? The diploma thesis has two research parts. The first part is a media analysis, which shows that the Chernobyl accident is mostly socially perceived as a matter of the past and is not associated with environmental migration to the Czech Republic. The second research part is based on anthropological research of semi- structured interviews with respondents. The result of this research is the division of radiation toxicity into five dimensions (political, biological, potential, reproductive, migration), in which the consequences of the Chernobyl accident continue to manifest themselves in the lives of environmental migrants. The dimensions of toxicity take place in different time frames, so the work also focuses on the temporality of modern accidents. The social perception of the Chernobyl accident as a finished event does not mean that it is no longer present in human lives. The aim of the...

Vliv signalizace související se zánětem na invazivitu nádorových buněk / The role of inflammatory signaling in cancer cell invasivenessŠůchová, Anna-Marie January 2020 (has links)
Metastasizing is responsible for 90% of death in cancer patients. Metastatic tumour cells have several strategies that they use to invade surrounding tissues - they can migrate together or individually. When individual cells migrate, tumour cells adopt two different morphologies. They are either elongated and migrate using the proteolytically active mesenchymal mode, or they are rounded and migrate in the amoeboid mode. Metastatic tumour cells can switch between these modes, which complicates the development of effective migrastatics. In this work, we focused on the effect of inflammatory signalling on metastatic cell migration. We worked with cell lines of malignant human melanoma, which adopt a mixed morphology and show both amoeboid and mesenchymal phenotype during migration. Upon stimulation of melanoma human cells with interferon beta, a mesenchymal to amoeboid transition occurs. Interferon beta appears to induce amoeboid morphology by maintaining high levels of the ISGF3 complex, which is composed of the heterodimer of STAT 1 and STAT 2 proteins and the IRF9 protein. Upon blocking of Jak / Stat signalling pathway by negative regulators, human melanoma cells return to mesenchymal morphology. Key words - invasiveness, mesenchymal-ameboid transition, interferons, inflammation, migration, metastases

Populační vývoj a současné migrační tendence venkovských obcí Jižních Čech / Population development and current migration tendencies of rural municipalities of South BohemiaEdelmanová, Denisa January 2019 (has links)
Transformation of Czech society after 1989 caused changes in spatial migration patterns. After strong socialist urbanization and during post-socialist suburbanization, people also began to move from towns to more remote rural areas. The subject of the thesis is the evaluation of the rural area of South Bohemia in terms of changes in its population and migration development in 1992-2017. Firstly, the thesis briefly analyzes the long-term population development of individual municipalities with extended power of South Bohemia in the context of the whole Czechia and then analyzes the types (positional and size) of rural municipalities of South Bohemia when solving their population growth, stagnation or depopulation and reveals the role of natural currency and migration balance in this population development. The main part of the thesis is an analysis of the internal migration of municipalities of South Bohemia in 1992-2017, namely migration flows between rural municipalities (semi-peripheral and peripheral) on the one hand and urban regions, including core towns (important and less important) and surrounding suburban municipalities, on the second hand. The main aim of the thesis is research the counterurbanization of South Bohemia based on the above mentioned migration flows. Especially after 1997,...

Komparace vybraných ukazatelů demografického vývoje ČR a Švédska v letech 1993 - 2016Domasta, Robert January 2019 (has links)
Domasta, R .: "Comparison of selected indicators of the demographic development of the Czech Republic and Sweden in 1993-2016". Brno 2018. Diploma thesis. Mendel University in Brno, Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies. The Czech Republic has undergone the second demographic transition in a short period of time. For comparison was chosen country in which these changes have been going on for decades. The goal of the thesis "Comparison of selected Indicators of demographic development of the Czech Republic and Sweden in 1993-2016" is to describe and compare demographic development of the Czech Republic and Sweden and Find relation between birth and marriage in NUTS 2 regions of the Czech Republic and Sweden in 2008-2016. Although many couples are prefering cohabitation instead of marriage, correlations proved that there are still existing strong dependence between marriage rates and birth rates. After analysis of demographic development prognosis by 2021 was made by using the cohort component method. The thesis showed that during the selected period of time postproductive population increased, birth rates declined below the net reproduction limit and population growth was basically mainly due to positive net migration. Based On the performed calculations in 2021 in the Czech Republic will be a greater number of births than in Sweden. However high rate of migration in Sweden, causing a lower ageing index, than it will be in the Czech Republic. The population of both countries are aging and this trend is expected to continue in the near future.

Euroskepticismus v České republiceGřešák, Dominik January 2019 (has links)
Eurosceptic ideas in the Czech Republic (hereinafter the “ČR”) began to spread more especially since the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty and they strengthened with increasing global problems, which did not help this sentiment in any way. Negative politicians' opinions regarding the EU may eventually undermine the confidence of Czech citizens in the EU and therefore have an impact on the overall relationship of the ČR with this European political-economic union. The thesis will offer a list and analysis of specific Eurosceptic topics in the ČR. The research will examine the current political situation in the ČR in relation to Euroscepticism, and its results will reflect on how Euroscepticism is manifested in the political discourse of the Czech political parties that were, in the 2017 parliamentary elections, elected into the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament. The thesis will analyze the Eurosceptic situation in the ČR at the political level in 2018 and will focus on the negative references regarding the EU, which were mentioned by the above Czech political parties.

Trh práce a prostorová mobilita obyvatelstva v Plzeňském kraji / Labour market and spatial mobility in Plzen regionDuda, Petr January 2010 (has links)
The Czech Republic underwent considerable social, political and economic changes after 1989. An important step was the creation of the labor market where jobs and wages were created based on market supply and demand. Due to effects of these market forces, unemployment was an unavoidable consequence. . Closely related to this was workforce flexibility which over the years became increasingly important. People migrating for work also had an effect on the housing market. The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the labor market in the Plzeň Region and the related spatial mobility since 2000 (with a brief development in the 90's). Another important objective is to determine to what extent the migration of the population is affected by the labor market situation and developments in the housing market. Two major institutions were used as the data source for processing thse reviews. The Labour Market in the Plzeň Region was mapped on the basis of data from the Labour Office in Plzeň. Data on development of spatial mobility and the housing market was gained from the Czech Statistical Office online databases and also from the Regional Office of CSO in Plzen. Key words: migration, labour market, housing market, Plzen
