On Nonassociative Division Rings and Projective Planes

Landquist, Eric Jon 19 June 2000 (has links)
An interesting thing happens when one begins with the axioms of a field, but does not require the associative and commutative properties. The resulting nonassociative division ring is referred to as a ``semifield" in this paper. Semifields have intimate ties to finite projective planes. In short, a finite projective plane with certain restrictions gives rise to a semifield, and, in turn, a finite semifield can be used via a coordinate construction, to build a special finite projective plane. It is also shown that two finite semifields provide a coordinate system for isomorphic projective planes if and only if the semifields are isotopic, where isotopy is a relationship similar to but weaker than isomorphism. Before we prove those results, we explore the nature of isotopy to get a little better feel for the concept. For example, we look at isotopy for associative algebras. We will also examine a particular family of semifields and gather concrete information about solutions to linear equations and isomorphisms. / Master of Science

In this work we study the classification of finitely presented abelian-by-finite dimensional Lie algebras given in [4]. If L is a Lie algebra, an extension of an abelian ideal A by a finite dimensional Lie algebra L/A then L is finitely presented if and only if A X A is finitely generated as U(L/A)-module via the diagonal action, where U(L/A) is the universal enveloping algebra of L/A. We study in detail the result that finite generation of A X A over U(L/A) implies finite presentability of L / Mestrado / Matematica / Mestre em Matemática

Nekomutativní struktury v kvantové teorii pole / Nocommutative structures in quantum field theory

Peksová, Lada January 2020 (has links)
In this thesis, structures defined via modular operads and properads are generalized to their non-commutative analogs. We define the connected sum for modular operads. This way we are able to construct the graded commutative product on the algebra over Feynman transform of the modular operad. This forms a Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra with symmetry given by the modular operad. We transfer this structure to the cohomology via the Homological perturbation lemma. In particular, we consider these constructions for Quantum closed and Quantum open modular operad. As a parallel project we introduce associative analog of Frobenius properad, called Open Frobenius properad. We construct the cobar complex over it and in the spirit of Barannikov interpret algebras over cobar complex as homological differential operators. Furthermore we present the IBA∞-algebras as analog of well-known IBL∞-algebras. 1

Asymptotika v maximálně neasociativních kvazigrupách / Asymptotics in maximally nonassociative quasigroups

Bajtoš, Marek January 2021 (has links)
This thesis follows up the results of article A. Drápal a I. M. Wanless, On the number of quadratic orthomorphisms that produce maximally nonassociative quasigroups. This paper dealt with the density of maximally non-associative quasigroups of a certain cons- truction. However, certain cases had to be neglected in the calculations due to restrictive conditions. The examination of these cases is the subject of this work. It turned out that the asymptotic behavior in the general case as in the article differs from the beha- vior in cases examined in our work. In addition to the calculations themselves, the work contains a theoretical introduction with an explanation of the constructions used in the previous article, as well as our own theory necessary for our calculations. In addition, we experimentally verified our results. 1

Azumaya-Algebren und Oktavenalgebren auf algebraischen Varietäten / Azumaya algebras and octonion algebras on algebraic varieties

Stroth, Kristin 23 October 2013 (has links)
