Geometric and Computational Aspects of Manipulation Rules for Graph-Based Engineering Diagrams

Bayer, Johannes, Li, Yakun, Marquardt, Sebastian, Dengel, Andreas 07 July 2022 (has links)
The digitization of graph-based engineering diagrams like P&IDs or circuit drawings from optical sources as well as their subsequent processing involves both image understanding and semantic technologies. More precisely, after a raw graph has been obtained by an object detection and line extraction pipeline, semantic gaps (like resolving material flow directions) need to be overcome to retain a comprehensive, semantically correct graph. Likewise, the graph representation often needs to be altered to achieve interoperability with established CAE systems and to accommodate customer-specific requirements. Semantic technologies provide powerful tools to manipulate such data but usually require rather complicated implementation. Graphically presentable graph based rules provide a code-free mean to ease the interaction with domain experts. In order to be applicable in real-world applications, both geometric and computational aspects need to be considered. This paper explores these aspects and demonstrates use cases of such rule graphs.

Risk factors impact on the P&L / Riskfaktorers inverkan på balansräkning

Gougas, Khawla January 2020 (has links)
Profit and Loss (P&L) explain analysis is an income statement produced by Product Control Team for traders to control the daily fluctuation in the value of a portfolio of trades to the root causes of the changes. This daily income provides users with a coherent breakdown of the drivers of P&L movements between two points in time with reference to a selected number of easily understandable pricing factors. P&L Attribution (also called P&L explain) can be calculated in two ways, either the risk based method or step re-evaluation method. This paper aims at understanding both methodologies from a theoretical point of view and shows the differences of both calculations methods and how they are interdependent in the daily work of a trader in the sense that both methods give a rational to the P&L from different perspectives. The risk based method involves the calculation of the trades sensitivities (also known as the Greeks) and then using them to predict the expected change in the P&L from one period to the next by using the actual market changes in the factors driving the transaction price over the same period and the transaction’s sensitivity to those factors.

Science and technology are directly related to the development of a country. The research and development projects at CNEN are financed by the direct resources of the budget of the Union and of the Development Agencies such as FINEP and CNPq. In general, project managers believe they can succeed when they complete a project within the programmed schedule, budget, and anticipated requirements, which is commonly known as a "triple constraint" or "iron triangle." However, in the review of the literature, other criteria for evaluation of success in projects, such as the benefits generated by society, the development of the team's capabilities, future opportunities, new technologies, among others, were verified. Faced with this question, seeking to assist the manager in the evaluation of this typology of projects, the research proposed a model with criteria and requirements based on the literature review and sought through a questionnaire to measure the degrees of importance and use of these criteria with the specialists of CNEN , Which act directly in the execution of these projects. The results showed that the criteria proposed in the model have a high degree of importance, with a decrease in relation to the use, indicating that the criteria used in the model can help managers in the evaluation of this type of project.

Santos, Maria Clara Bottino Gonçalves 26 February 2010 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-06-02T19:51:44Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 3044.pdf: 1933766 bytes, checksum: d12f091d9a1ceec485e31ecb005d3874 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-02-26 / Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos / The aim of this research is to examine the extension of changes on technological strategies of a group of Brazilian pharmaceutical companies, which we believe were induced by transformations in the institutional environment, occurred during the 1990s. We support that important institutional changes, as Patent‟s and Generic‟s Laws, have induced transformations on market insertion and competitive position of this companies and also have stimulated research and development efforts in Brazil. The research was based on the technology strategy and pharmaceutical industry literature and also on interviews with a group of Brazilian pharmaceutical companies, which are among the top companies in the pharmaceutical national rank and which, through a preview academic study, give us signals of growing efforts in technology activities and of inflections in their technological strategies. The research confirmed that the studied companies passed through a significant intensification of their technology efforts, but they are still above the global level and without big impact. In fact, the Brazilian pharmaceutical companies developed new drugs, as the Helleva of Cristália and the Acheflan of Aché. Besides that, almost all the studied companies are involved with innovative projects. However, the number of patents is still very low, what reflects the reduced capacity of patentable innovations. Indeed, a considerable share of their technology efforts is directed towards products which are not patentable, as generic drugs. Hence, most of the Brazilian pharmaceutical companies focus on brands and other commercial assets as an appropriability mechanism.

(CIEMSA)

Zamora Paredes, Vidal Enrike 16 November 2020 (has links)
In recent years, mining has faced a gradual decrease in the metal´s prices, generating a reduction in the profitability of the business as a result of lower mineral reserves. This has led to the adoption of operational schemes focused on the continuous improvement of each of the processes within the mining cycle, in order to reduce costs. For this reason, it is necessary to visualize each of the activities involved, such as drilling and blasting, which have a productive and economic impact on the global process. Consequently, this research focuses on optimizing rock fragmentation, through a drill and blast mesh design, by integrating the engineering concepts of blasting and characterization of the rock mass. For this, the Pearse mathematical model will be applied, in order to calculate the controllable parameters of the design and obtain the expected results. Likewise, the scope of the work includes the analysis of the productivity of the mining cycle, as well as the quantification of the impact of the proposal in terms of costs. It begins with the baseline analysis, which consists of measuring the results of current P&V mesh designs, in order to determine the variables that are generating coarse rock fragmentation. Subsequently, the mesh design proposal is proposed considering the greater amount of data and information from the Tacaza pit. Then the field work is carried out, consisting of the monitoring and control of activities, in order to comply with the designed parameters. Finally, the fragmentation results are measured in the Wipfrag software, and the productivity and costs in the mining cycle are analyzed. From the results, an improvement in fragmentation is obtained, since it is possible to reduce the diameter of rocks from 13.0 to 5.0 inches on average. This leads to an increase in the effective performance of the equipment and a cost reduction of approximately US $ 9,600 per month. These new measures generate added value for the company, through a sustainable mining operation, which seeks to make the business profitable from a holistic view of the process. / Tesis

A composição da carteira de projetos de pesquisa e desenvolvimento: um processo não formalizado em casos da indústria / The R&D project portfolio composition: a no fomalized process in cases of the industry

Rubio, Alvaro Gonzalez 24 November 2003 (has links)
This work studies the R&D project portfolio composition process in cases of the Brazilian tangible products industry. For this purpose, a bibliographic review was done, and then, an holistic multi-case exploratory study, to identify the procedures, criteria and participants involved in the process, as well as the difficulties faced. A study presents a research reference model, constructed from the theory contributions, and involves several approaches of the portfolio composition process. The model is also useful as a framework for data collection, classification, analysis and comparison, and provides the flexibility needed for developing this kind of research. The study shows that the project portfolios result from a process where the project portfolio assessment is mostly informal or doesn?t exist. Additionally, the study shows that the process involves participants of several hierarchical levels in companies, where each participant contributes in a direct or indirect way, in decisions of the portfolio composition process decisions. Finally, the results identify that reliable and complete data collection, resources distribution and bureaucracy are the main difficulties faced along the process.
