The elephant in the virtual law classroomPerez, Tiffany A. 21 April 2021 (has links)
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, law schools had to pivot to virtual legal education
quickly. In the wake of the pandemic, scholars have eagerly written about the dos
and don’ts of the virtual law classroom. Although some articles have represented
the law students’ perspective and some have represented the law professor’s
perspective, none have done both in an attempt to create empathy and bridge the
gap between what students’ desire, and what law professors are currently
providing, and what good virtual legal education requires. As such, based on several
interviews with law professors and students, this Article begins by describing one
online Contracts class first from the professor’s point of view and then from the
student’s point of view. The professor and students’ different perceptions of the
same class are then analogized to John Godfrey Saxe’s poem The Blind Men and
the Elephant. Then, using the Kübler-Ross Grief Cycle as a vehicle to build
empathy and understanding, this article attempts to demonstrate the similarities
that exists between students and professors’ feelings about online virtual
education, namely that both professors and students alike are avidly grieving a
common loss: in-person, Socratic law school days of old. As such, they are both
experiencing denial and anger about their situations. In keeping with one of the key
strategies recommended by the Mayo Clinic for overcoming denial in grief, this
article “journals” their realities and provides both the student and professor perspective in the hopes that, by doing so, it will rid the misconceptions and bridge
the way for a new type of virtual legal education to be created—one that meets
(and/or exceeds) both professors’ and students’ expectations.

Studying in times of CoronaSchräder, Luise K. 21 April 2021 (has links)
In March 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic changed life circumstances drastically for
everyone. Exactly one year ago the university had to shift from campus to the internet.
This led to huge alterations in how professors lecture and how student university
life takes place. After this year, it is time to evaluate the changes and put
them into perspective. This means recognizing the benefits of technology to legal
education instead of seeing the current situation as a replacement that disappears
as soon as a return back to campus is possible.

Compliance Elliance Journal: Compliance in Unprecedented TimesDeStefano, Michele, Schneider, Hendrik 13 May 2020 (has links)
Therefore this edition of CEJ is dedicated to pressing criminal and compliance-related questions in connection with the coronavirus-pandemic. Furthermore we will focus on another branch of digitization: Namely cryptocurrencies and financial technology. The key issue of last CEJ-edition, Corporate Criminal Liability, will be deepened, as there have been notable (and given the current situation, questionable) developments in the German legislative process. Fittingly, the topic of whistleblower protection in Switzerland will be addressed and two books, dealing with the modern legal advice market, will be reviewed.

Změny v přístupu k výuce u učitelů v době pandemie COVID-19 / Changes in teachers' attitude towards the education process during the COVID-19 pandemicPetrovická, Barbora January 2022 (has links)
Our work is focused on the period of the global COVID-19 pandemic at its beginning, specifically in the spring and autumn of 2020. It particularly features the area of Czech educational system. We aim to reflect how the pandemic and the closely related distance education in schools affected teachers' attitude towards the education process and also their mental health. In the theoretical part we aspire to define basic terms, such as the teacher's personality, professional growth, motivation, stress, burn-out syndrome and mental hygiene. In addition, we offer an explanation of the process of distance education. The empirical part was realized via semi-structured interviews with teachers of theoretical subjects on vocational schools who were involved in the educational process during the time when it was forced to be led online. The most troublesome issues were the following: the teachers' inadequate technical skills and low self-confidence related to those, but also the minimal support from the schools' management regarding both the training in usage of on-line tools and the need of care of students', school employees' and parents' mental health. KEYWORDS personality, professional growth, motivation, mental hygiene, burn-out syndrome, COVID-19 pandemic, distance education

Koncepty "Sense of coherence" a "Sense of national coherence" jako prediktivní faktory duševního zdraví v období pandemie COVID-19 / The concepts of sense of coherence and sense of national coherence as predictive resources of mental health during the COVID-19 pandemicMiková, Barbora January 2021 (has links)
Given the negative consequences the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to both the physical and mental health, there is a growing need to find the ways how to support and strengthen psychological resilience and mental health of the individuals in such an unprecedent situation. Consequently, this thesis explores the A. Antonovsky's salutogenetic model of health with a focus on the concepts of sense of coherence (SOC) and sense of national coherence (SONC) as potential predictors of mental health during COVID-19 pandemic. In the theoretical part, the topic of mental health, it's coneptualisation and predictors are presented, with an emphasis on the concepts of SOC and SONC. Additionally, the review of present research on mental health during COVID-19 pandemic is included. The research project analyses the data obtained through an online survey as a part of an international research study investigating the predictive factors of mental health during COVID-19 pandemic. Data collection in Czech sample was conducted in December 2020 and January 2021, using the Mental Health Continuum, SOC-13 and SONC scales. The sample included 476 participants. Multiple regression analysis confirmed the SOC as a significant predictor of mental health during COVID-19 pandemic among Czech sample. However, the predictive value...

Dopad pandemie Covid-19 na sexbyznys v České republice. / The impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the sex business in the Czech Republic.Frydrych, Štěpán January 2022 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with a topic related to the Covid-19 pandemic, specifically the impact on the sex business, resp. to people who move in this segment of commercial sexual services. The work aimed to analyze and describe the possible effects in the defined areas, which arose from the available studied sources (mainly foreign). The impacts were examined using qualitative methods in the areas (psychosocial and socio-economic, health, safety, change of sex business, and legalization of sex business) about those who move in this area and earn their living, family security, and benefits other liabilities (e.g., debts). The analyzed areas and the described impacts resulting from the semi-structured interviews were compared in discussion with the results of foreign research reports or with Czech sources of helping organizations, and were suggested possible ways to mitigate these impacts or may be prevented by future measures.

NEWKUS- Bára a Sára / NEWKUS - Bara and SaraSmékalová, Barbora Unknown Date (has links)
The diploma thesis consists of a series of events by the art duo NEWkus. The NEWkus art duo deals with the transformation of relationships and the overall definition of the NEWkus body concept. It copes with the isolation caused by the coronavirus pandemic as well as with the apathy caused by the monotonous lifestyle in an enclosed space with the same person and the impossibility of meeting within the NEWkus duo. Thanks to a series of events in the home environment, the group is aware of its own existence on a much wider scale, it finds that it is not only two-member, that its structure is more extensive. The series of realized events is built on the borders of social, artistic experiment and intimate realism. The whole experience is screened in a single space, as part of the NEWkus Days festival. The space is defined by an object inspired by a screen, the internal environment of which is adapted to the image and the needs of both authors. The spectator is thus allowed to meet the story, which will be presented from many angles during the festival and will provide the opportunity to blend with the body of NEWkus in real time and space.
