Examining outcomes of small and young firms based on available resources : Extending the focus from the individual entrepreneur to the entrepreneurial couple / Une étude des résultats opérationnels des petites et jeunes entreprises en fonction des ressources accessibles à l’entrepreneur : Le passage d’une lecture individuelle à une lecture fondée sur le couple d’entrepreneursEl shoubaki, Aliaa 26 November 2018 (has links)
This thesis focuses on a study of the hitherto neglected aspects of the resources immediately accessible to entrepreneurs of young and small businesses. Based on the argument that the resources immediately available to entrepreneurs are their human and social capital, the study is primarily centered on individual reading, which highlights the entrepreneur and his human capital. Then, it explicitly takes into account the social roots of entrepreneurs and more specifically their family-embeddedness. Thus, the study opens to the entrepreneur and his spouse, thus to the couple of entrepreneurs. This thesis is part of the research fields of entrepreneurship and the family business, and borrows concepts and theories from economics and sociology. Each of the four articles that make up the thesis is an independent study for publication. Nevertheless, all the studies relate to a central issue that deals with the still neglected aspects of the links between the results of small firms, the entrepreneur and the couple of entrepreneurs.

Work-Family Conflict: Does Romance Matter?Charles, Christie Marie 01 January 2017 (has links)
Research has shown that being in a romantic relationship has related negatively with work-family conflict. Using social exchange theory, the investment model, and role theory, this study examined the relationships among the dimensions of perceived partner support, romantic relationship interdependence, and work-family conflict. A sample of 192 adults in paid employment, currently involved in a romantic relationship, were recruited from SurveyMonkey Contribute. Study participants completed online a demographic survey, the revised Support in Intimate Relationships Rating Scale (SIRRS), the Investment Model Scale, and work-family conflict scales. Correlation analyses showed that work-to-family conflict and family-to-work conflict correlated negatively with commitment and positively with quality of alternatives as hypothesized. As hypothesized, regression analyses showed that quality of alternatives and informational support explained unique variance in work-to-family conflict and family-to-work conflict and that commitment explained unique variance in family-to-work conflict. PROCESS mediation analyses showed partial support for the hypothesis of mediation. Quality of alternatives and commitment mediated the relationships between esteem/emotional support and family-to-work conflict and instrumental/tangible support and family-to-work conflict. Quality of alternatives mediated the relationships between informational support and work-to-family conflict, informational support and family-to-work conflict, and instrumental/tangible support and work-to-family conflict. The findings contribute to positive social change by offering added knowledge about the occurrence of work-family issues in the lives of employees representing a large percentage of the workforce.

Impact of a Group Prenatal Program for Pregnant Adolescents on Perceived Partner SupportSmith, Peggy B., Buzi, Ruth S., Kozinetz, Claudia A., Peskin, Melissa, Wiemann, Constance M. 01 October 2016 (has links)
This quasi-experimental study compared family formation and perceived partner support among pregnant adolescents in a prenatal care program. Participants were assigned to either an intervention group utilizing centering pregnancy (CP) prenatal care and case management, or to a comparison group receiving case management only. Partners were invited to participate in CP group sessions. This study included 173 predominantly minority pregnant adolescents ages 15–18 years who were enrolled in a prenatal program and followed one month postpartum. Family formation included living and relationship arrangements. Perceived partner support included six domains of perceived social provisions. Data were collected through participants’ self-reports using computer-assisted self-interviews. Changes in family formation and perceptions of partner support from baseline to postpartum did not differ between intervention and comparison groups. Male partners who attended at least one CP session were perceived as more supportive at both the beginning and end of the program than partners who did not attend any sessions. After combining groups, pregnant adolescents reported a significant shift in family formation and increased monetary support from partners from baseline to postpartum. Partner support is important for ensuring positive pregnancy outcomes. Additional strategies are needed to engage young fathers who do not readily provide support during pregnancy.

Citová vazba v partnerském vztahu a v manželství / Attachment in couple relationship and in marriageKomárková, Soňa January 2012 (has links)
This study examine the interrelationship between the attachment in relationship and in marriage and relationship satisfaction. Based on theoretical models of attachment the study works empirically with a 2-factor concept of adult attachment. It deals with selected components of the relationship aspects of adult attachment. Another important issue is the relationship satisfaction. The work proposes a Czech translation of questionnaires Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised and the Couples Satisfaction Index and uses them in a research. Quantitative research was conducted on a sample of 258 respondents. 49 of them were clients of marriage counselling or psychotherapy practice. Statistical analysis showed significant correlation between the factors of attachment (Anxiety and Avoidance) and relationship satisfaction. The strongest correlation was found between satisfaction and anxiety. The results confirm the theory of attachment, according to which more securely attached individuals are more satisfied in a relationship than those less securely attached. The factors of attachment have proved to be better predictors of relationship satisfaction than age, gender or type of relationship (couple relationship / marriage). Key words: adult attachment, couple relationship, marriage, marital satisfaction,...

BATTITI DEL CUORE: UNA RICERCA DIADICA SU PAZIENTI CON MALATTIE CARDIACHE E I LORO PARTNER / HEART BEATS: A DYADIC RESEARCH ON PATIENTS WITH HEART DISEASE AND THEIR PARTNERS / HEART BEATS: A DYADIC RESEARCH ON PATIENTS WITH HEART DISEASE AND THEIR PARTNERSRAPELLI, GIADA 09 February 2021 (has links)
This research has a dyadic approach involving both patients with cardiovascular disease and their partner during the hospitalization. The first study investigates the effect of dyadic coping (DC) on partners’ marital satisfaction considering the moderating effect of the partners’ psychological distress. The results show that the beneficial effect of positive and common DC on marital satisfaction occurs when the partners’ psychological distress is low, on the contrary negative DC decreases marital satisfaction among those who have high levels of psychological distress. The second study aims to investigate the relationship between DC, adherence to medications and patient activation. The relationship is mediated by the patient health self-efficacy: positive and common DC increase patient health self-efficacy which in turn increases adherence to medication and patient activation; on the contrary, the negative DC is detrimental during hospitalization and also over time after discharge. The third study investigates the relationship between psychological distress and the quality of partner support (overprotection, hostility and support for patient engagement) through the moderating role of DC. The results show that high psychological distress increases worse partner support among those with low levels of positive DC and high negative DC.

Infertility is an important problem that has a considerable impact on the couple. Infertility and its treatments can place significant stress on both partners, which can lead to relationship insecurity. Several researchers have shown that infertility can reduce quality of life for both members in the relationship. Since the partners represent the main source of support for each other in this challenge, it appears relevant to consider partner support as a potential protective factor for these couples. The objective of this study was to examine the association between partner support (Support in Intimate Relationship Rating Scale) and infertility-related quality of life (FertiQoL) assessed 3 months later among 83 couples using medically assisted reproduction. The partners completed the questionnaires at two time points (baseline and 3 months later). Path analyses using the actor-partner interdependence model revealed that a person’s perception of emotional, informational, and tangible partner support is positively linked to their own emotional and relational quality of life three months later. Women’s perception of physical support is also positively associated with their partner’s relational quality of life. This study makes a significant contribution to the infertility research’s field through its dyadic and longitudinal design. Interventions targeting partner support could reduce the negative effects of infertility and its treatments on the infertile couples’ quality of life.
