Lecture critique d'un modèle d'action pastorale : les orientations pour le baptême des petits enfants au Québec depuis Vatican II

La présente recherche se consacre à la lecture critique des six textes majeurs d'orientations pour la pastorale du baptême des petits enfants promulgués au Québec depuis le Concile Vatican II et la parution du rituel du baptême. Une hypothèse guide cette lecture: en raison du rapport étroit entre ces textes et la pratique, les forces et les faiblesses qu'on peut y déceler seraient susceptibles de nous aider à identifier plusieurs facteurs contribuant à rendre la pastorale baptismale problématique. Ces textes, qui constituent de véritables modèles d'action, se composent de lectures de la situation, d'énoncés de théologie systématique et de consignes pour l'action. Le principal outil qu'ils proposent est le dialogue pastoral, divisé en trois étapes logiques: le diagnostic, la décision et l'intervention. Cependant, le dialogue pastoral rencontre des problèmes importants au moment où l'on tente de le rendre opérationnel dans la situation pastorale de la rencontre entre clercs et parents. La recherche s'applique à identifier les problèmes du dialogue pastoral tel que le conçoivent les textes d'orientations. La démarche critique de la recherche adopte dans un premier temps une perspective épistémologique, en analysant les utilisations des notions d'expérience, de croyance et de langage qui composent le sous-sol théologique du dialogue pastoral. Pour ce faire, les travaux de théologiens ayant recours à ces notions ont été invoqués: Tracy, Jossua, Schillebeeckx, Mouroux. Cette critique est poursuivie et raffinée grâce à la pensée des philosophes pragmatistes (Peirce, James, Mead, Dewey) et d'autres philosophes contemporains (Rorty, Quine, Davidson, Wittgenstein, Putnam). Dans un deuxième temps, la recherche utilise un instrument rhétorique (le Traité de l'argumentation de Chaïm Perelman) pour analyser l'argumentation et la persuasion dans les orientations pastorales. Ces instruments nous servent ensuite à l'analyse des documents intermédiaires produits par les animateurs de la pastorale du baptême du diocèse de Québec entre 1967 et aujourd'hui. Ces documents illustrent bien le rapport des textes d'orientations pastorales avec les pratiques locales et leur analyse peut confirmer la justesse de l'hypothèse de départ. La recherche se termine avec la suggestion de pistes de reconstruction pour le dialogue pastoral et la pastorale du baptême.

With these questions in mind, this research was undertaken with the goal in mind to eventually put forward a model for the use of Biblical narratives in the pastoral care of primary school children between the ages of 6 and 13. The research was done by making use of the research method of Zerfass (1974: 166). * The basic-theoretical phase of this study was done by means of a study of available literature. It began by an enquiry into the relevant Biblical perspectives on pastoral care and was followed by a further inquiry into the relevant Biblical perspectives on narrative pastoral care. This phase of the study was completed by an inquiry on the basic principles of pastoral care of children, with specific reference to children between the ages of 6 and 13. * The meta-theoretical phase of this study was done by an overview of the handling of children between the ages of 6 and 13 through the course of history in Western society. This was followed by a study of adjacent disciplines concerning the value of a narrative approach to the pastoral care of primary school children between the ages of 6 and 13. The next part of this phase was done by identifying the most common pastoral needs of children between the ages of 6 and 13, by means of an empirical enquiry. * The practice-theoretical phase was done by providing guidelines for the application of Biblical narratives in the pastoral care of children between the ages of 6 and 13. This was followed by an illustration of the application of Biblical narratives in the pastoral care of children between the ages of 6 and 13, by means of case studies. This phase of the study was completed by providing a model for the use of Biblical narratives in the pastoral care of primary school children between the ages of 6 and 13. Cette recherche se penche sur l’oeuvre polémique du réformateur Jean Calvin et plus particulièrement sur le corpus d’opuscules qu’il publie entre 1531 et 1564, pour prendre position sur la scène théologique. À partir de l’analyse historique de ces prises de plume, la thèse s’attache à éclairer le fonctionnement du dispositif polémique, à souligner les spécificités et l’évolution de la guerre des mots au XVIe siècle et à mettre au jour des normes discursives, des pratiques d’écriture et des habitudes de lecture caractéristiques de la période renaissante. Postulant l’existence d’un jeu polémique, fait de contraintes sociales mais aussi de choix individuels, cette étude cherche, dans le même temps, à comprendre les conditions de l’engagement de Calvin, en analysant les configurations qui président à chaque intervention publique et les motivations qu’elles traduisent. Pour conduire cette analyse d’histoire du discours, l’étude se concentre sur les jeux de posture du polémiste Calvin, c’est-à-dire sur les modalités de la présentation de soi et la fabrique d’une légitimité. Comment des stratégies auctoriales et éditoriales sont-elles ainsi élaborées, pour circonscrire un public de lecteurs et porter un message efficace ? Que dénotent-elles du positionnement du polémiste sur la scène religieuse des années 1530-1560 ? C’est une conversion dans l’ordre de l’èthos, un glissement de l’autorité des Lettres au ministère de la Parole, que le corpus polémique invite à suivre. / This research examines the controversial work of the reformer John Calvin. It particularly investigates the corpus of pamphlets he published between 1531 and 1564 in order to take a stance on the theological stage. Based first on a historical analysis of these pamphlets, the thesis seeks to elucidate how the controversy operated, to highlight the features and the evolution of the war of words in the sixteenth century, and to shed light on discursive norms, writing processes and reading habits of the Renaissance period. Firmly claiming the existence of a controversy, one that is constructed by social constraints but by individual choices as well, this study also analyses the specific qualities of Calvin’s undertaking by interpreting the salient patterns in his public interventions and the motives behind them. In this historical analysis of discourse, the study focuses on the polemical postures of Calvin, that is to say the manner in which he presents himself and creates his legitimacy. How did Calvin devise authorial and editorial strategies in order to circumscribe an audience of readers and convey an effective message ? What did these choices reveal about the polemicist’s positioning on the religious stage from the 1530’s to the 1560’s ? Analysing this polemical corpus enables one to witness a conversion in the order of ethos, a shift of authority from Letters to the Ministry of Word.

L’inculturation de l’Évangile est un fait indispensable et important pour l’Église. Elle permet aux peuples de vivre fidèlement et pleinement la foi en Jésus-Christ et à l’Église de s’enraciner profondément au cœur des cultures des peuples. Nous étudions ici l’incarnation de la doctrine et de la pastorale de l’inculturation du mariage chrétien dans l’âme de notre peuple africain. Nous entreprenons une sorte de pèlerinage aux sources de l’institution matrimoniale coutumière chez les Yambassa, tribu intégrante de la grande famille bantu. Cette étude est conçue comme une recherche pour une pastorisation africaine de l’évangélisation et de l’inculturation du sacrement de mariage. Elle part de la description phénoménologique du mariage traditionnel yambassa et nous fait découvrir les valeurs et symboles caractéristiques de cette alliance coutumière. L’itinéraire de cette institution est jalonné d’interrogations chrétiennes qui font ressortir la problématique du vernissage du mariage religieux. Ce qui nous dispose évidemment à proposer une rencontre dynamique et une symbiose plus pénétrante des deux alliances et des perspectives de réalisation chrétienne du mariage coutumier yambassa et d’une pastorale liturgique du mariage inculturé dans les Églises locales d’Afrique et de Madagascar en vue d’une évangélisation en profondeur à visage africain pour l’enrichissement de l’Église universelle.

Les animateurs et animatrices laïques de pastorale hospitalière : un modèle en devenir

La présence de plus en plus nombreuse de laïcs dans les services de pastorale au sein des hôpitaux du Québec suggère de nouvelles approches en spiritualité et des modalités de travail différentes de celles conférées traditionnellement à l'aumônier. Cette recherche explore la satisfaction au travail des animateurs et animatrices de pastorale laïques, à l'aide d'un guide emprunté à la gestion, qui considère trois volets: le climat, le développement personnel et les avantages du poste. Des aspects plus particuliers à la pastorale complètent cette cueillette de données. Si la majorité des répondants se disaient satisfaits de leur emploi, des contradictions et des réticences se sont fait jour. Le chercheur les a analysées dans le but d'en arriver à un modèle qui rende compte de l'ensemble de leurs activités tout en étant utile à des recherches ultérieures, à des employeurs éventuels, à des étudiants et à de futurs candidats à ce poste, ou à des observateurs de l'extérieur qui s'intéressent à la place du spirituel dans les hôpitaux.

It has been established that there is a deficit of research on the pastoral care of couples struggling with GRC (gender-role conflict). The focus of the study was to provide guidelines for the pastoral counsellor, so that he/she can apply effective marriage counselling to couples struggling with GRC. This is achieved by using Osmer’s four tasks of practical theology, namely: * The descriptive-empirical task – What is going on? * The interpretive task – Why is this going on? * The normative task – What ought to be going on? * The pragmatic task – How might we respond? The first task has been approached through empirical research with the aim to get an understanding of the participants’ experience regarding GRC in their marriages as well as their view of GRC. The empirical research was conducted by a qualitative research method using questionnaires (containing short and long questions) given to participants to answer. With the execution of this research, several aspects were identified that deserve further attention for the implementation of this study, namely: GRC result from a person’s involvement (or lack thereof) in a particular case, people’s reasons for the same GRC differ because of their experience of it, men and women experience GRC differently, people’s careers can be a determining factor of GRC, finance is the biggest GRC that people struggle with, people’s age and age differences may be linked to their experience of GRC and people are influenced by their parents. The second task has been approached through research especially in psychology, sociology and anthropology with the objective to further understand the issues that were raised in the previous chapter. Each of these issues are identified as a possible cause of GRC and discussed through various theories and research. The third task has been approached through exegesis of four pericopes with the aim to gain insight in connection with the Scripture’s perspective regarding the marriage relationship. A selection of 16 steps of Janse van Rensburg’s steps in conceiving a sermon is used to carry out the exegesis. The pericopes used for exegesis is the following: Genesis 1:26-31, 1 Corinthians 11:8-12, Galatians 3:26-29 and Ephesians 5:21-33. The fourth task has been approached by referring to certain counselling skills and guidelines with the aim to provide guidance in the pastoral counselling of couples struggling with GRC. All research done eventually leads to the point where certain strategies can be suggested for the pastoral counselling of couples struggling with GRC. The central theoretical argument of this study is partly met by acquiring an understanding of GRC, focusing on spiritual growth and ultimately making recommendations for effective pastoral counselling to couples, so that they can be guided to a better Christ-centered marriage. / MA (Pastoral Studies), North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2015

The researcher proposes guidelines in a model for pastoral counselling through the use of play with children. There is a new awareness of the place of the child in the church. The researcher has done pioneering work through the study in this area. An approach to the healing effects through play has been investigated with the direction of the Osmer model for practical theology.An Empirical study using the “mixed research method” was conducted and all results recorded. The appearances of child play and cultural practices surrounding the child in the Mediterranian world were examined. Jesus Christ’s approach, how He received the children and spoke out over them was investigated. The narratives, metaphors (parables) and projections of Scripture are of value. Play therapy developed from every physchological viewpoint and the researcher summarised major schools of psychology and showed the development of play therapy. The use of play therapy, resources and theories were discussed. A child first starts abstract reasoning at the age of eleven years, and until then their words are toys and language play. The researcher addresses issues of child theology. The history and background of pastoral counseling as a subdivision in practical theology was addressed. Incidences of pastoral moments occur naturally during the time of play. Prayer is an integral part of the planning and interpretation of events in the play room. Questions from the child about God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are treated honestly and Scripturally. The counselor needs to be sensitve to the child’s search for God and to transfer Scriptural truth to the child.
