The thesis begins with an introductory chapter that explains the creative process, providing quotes from well-known poets and examples from my own personal history and ideas. Some of the creative concepts discussed are different manifestations of inspiration, such as the duende and the Muses. However, the act of creating a work of art--what actually occurs when an artist works--remains undiscovered. Every poet is part of the poetic tradition, yet she also strives to supersede that very tradition. In my poetry, I try to build on and deviate from the poetic tradition, while simultaneously representing events from my cultural and personal history. Twenty-nine poems follow the introduction. The poems included in this volume represent a contemporary writing style influenced by Romanticism and Modernism, apparent in nature imagery and ambiguity.

The struggle for survival of an American family revolves around Mitch Wilcox, a relief pitcher for a fictional major league baseball team. Nearing the end of his long career, he must decide whether to retire or to sign a new contract. His dilemma centers on his wife, Nicole, who argues for his retirement; and his only child, Twylight, who has run away from home. The novel traces the final two weeks of a season, during which Mitch's team battles for a pennant and he delays his decision because of events that expose the precarious nature of both his professional and personal identities. During a crucial game, his journey culminates with a choice that directs him toward a new life.

Esta investigación tiene como objetivo desarrollar una escala genérica de medición de competencias para el personal intermedio de las empresas privadas del país. Para evaluar el diseño y la validación de la escala elegimos el grupo objetivo, es decir, el personal de gestión media de las empresas privadas en el país. El diseño siguió todos los pasos metodológicos planteados por la teoría de la competencia, luego fueron sometidos a consideración por el método de los jueces y la aplicación de estadísticas para evidencia de validez de contenido. Una vez obtenidos los ítems validados por jueces, se procedió a aplicar la escala al grupo objetivo seleccionado, para obtener evidencia de validez factorial y evidencia de confiabilidad; Ambos basados en la estructura interna de la escala de competencia general (ECGEG - nivel 1). Los resultados nos enmarcan en tres amplias áreas de medición de competencias que cumplen los niveles de evidencia de validez y confiabilidad de la escala diseñada: La adaptación al medio ambiente, la comunicación influyente y la voluntad de trabajar en equipo. Debido a la falta de herramientas de medición validadas en el país y en América Latina, los resultados obtenidos favorecen una medición objetiva de estas competencias y son una contribución adicional a futuros estudios organizacionales.

Personlig assistans kan anses som unikt i Sverige i sitt utförande och ges till personer med funktionsnedsättning. Huvuduppgiften för en assistent är att stödja individen till ett aktivt liv utefter dennes behov och vilja. KASAM tas upp som en viktig del då teorin utgår från att alla individer ska ha en meningsfull tillvaro. Studiens syfte var att undersöka hur personliga assistenter ser på sin yrkesroll idag. Sju kvinnor och en man intervjuades från samma organisation under 35 minuter vardera. Intervjuerna meningskoncentrerades sedan och ur analysen framkom fyra centrala teman som resultatet sedan baserades på: 1) motivation, roll och yrkets innebörd, 2) bemötande och förhållningssätt, 3) arbetets innehåll, samt 4) socialt stöd och trygghet. Yrkesrollen för en assistent handlar om: (1) känna sig behövd, (2) fungera som ett stöd, (3) inget genomtänkt arbetssätt finns, (4) rutinmässig vardag, (5) bristfälligt chefsstöd, (6) anställningstrygghet. Ingen samhörighet bland assistenterna inom organisationen finns.

Antropóloga Social / Al analizar la espacialidad y movilidad cotidiana urbana desde la experiencia que las personas tienen de ellas, aparecen variables o características personales que condicionan la forma en que la ciudad es percibida, significada y vivida. Entre los grupos que emergen de este análisis, la niñez es quizás el menos tomado en cuenta, como parte de la categoría generacional, tanto por los demás grupos de habitantes como por la investigación urbana. La niñez es, por lo tanto, un grupo de habitantes urbanos cuyas experiencias espaciales particulares son invisibilizadas, a la vez que se vinculan a aspectos de la socialización y su espacialidad supuestamente se reduce a los lugares a los que la infancia ha sido confinada: la casa y la escuela, principalmente. Esta investigación se propone explorar las experiencias espaciales de niños y niñas de Santiago de Chile a través del sombreo o acompañamiento de sus movilidades cotidianas, aproximándose de esta forma a las espacialidades que efectivamente componen sus vidas cotidianas. Paralelamente, se propone el objetivo de trabajar desde la antropología con un grupo escasamente tomado en cuenta por esta disciplina como sujetos de experiencia: niños jóvenes cuyas formas de expresión van más allá del lenguaje oral y escrito, por lo tanto las técnicas empleadas deben buscar otras formas de comunicación dentro de la metodología cualitativa. Esta es una memoria para optar al título de antropóloga social que se desarrolla en el marco del proyecto Fondecyt 1090198, “Movilidad cotidiana urbana y exclusión social en Santiago, Chile”, a cargo de Dra. Paola Jirón, del Instituto de la Vivienda (INVI), Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, Universidad de Chile. Así mismo, la investigación ha contado con el auspicio de este proyecto.

This thesis is a creative one, comprised of eight short stories which deal with a variety of subjects. All of the material is concerned with personal or vicarious experience.

The purposes of this study were (1) to explore the possibility that sociometry can be a valuable prognostic method in milieu therapy, and (2) to investigate the validity of the "Draw-a-Group" (DAG) projective technique for measuring interpersonal responsiveness.

The problem of this study was to determine the relationship between certain aspects of vocational choice and certain non-intellectual personal characteristics.

This paper is a collection of three short stories. A short preface discussing the origin of the tales precedes the stories. Fractions and Equations is the story of a love triangle. In this tale, the development of love between two people is told. There is no resolution in the tale. The second story, The Sailing of the Fantasy Cafe, tells of the operation of a book shop at Christmas time. The main characters in the story are described and several important incidents are also related. The tale ends with a Christmas party. The final story, And Penance More Must Do, deals with the life of a young teacher. The story begins in Africa and ends in America. During the course of the story the mind and heart of the main character are probed in detail.

Contemporary psychology has shown an increasing interest in the self-concept of the individual. This interest has grown in large measure from studies of perception. Many theorists have felt that perception in general and self-perception in particular is a function of the needs of the organism, as well as a function of the external stimuli. It is the purpose of this study to investigate the relationships between distortions in self-perception and total level of adjustment in a population of college students.
