Detectability of Singularly Perturbed Systems

Vu, Leonard Phong January 2005 (has links)
A form of detectability, known as the input-output-to-state stability property, for singularly perturbed systems is examined in this work. This work extends the result of a paper by Christofides & Teel wherein they presented a notion of total stability for input-to-state stability with respect to singular perturbations. Analyzing singularly perturbed systems with outputs we show that if the boundary layer system is uniformly globally asymptotically stable and the reduced system is input-output-to-state stable with respect to disturbances, then these properties continue to hold, up to an arbitrarily small offset, for initial conditions in an arbitrarily large compact set and sufficiently small singular perturbation parameter over the time interval for which disturbances, their derivatives, and outputs remain in an arbitrarily large compact set. An application of the result is presented where we analyze the stability of a circuit with a nonlinear element through the measurement of only one of the variables of interest.

Some Aspects on Robust Stability of Uncertain Linear Singularly Perturbed Systems with Multiple Time Delays

Chen, Ching-Fa 21 June 2002 (has links)
In this dissertation, the robust stability of uncertain continuous and discrete singularly perturbed systems with multiple time delays is investigated. Firstly, the asymptotic stability for a class of linear continuous singularly perturbed systems with multiple time delays is investigated. A simple estimate of an upper bound of singular perturbation parameter is proposed such that the original system is asymptotically stable for any . Moreover, a delay-dependent criterion, but -independent, is proposed to guarantee the asymptotic stability of the original system. Secondly, we consider the robust stability problem of uncertain continuous singularly perturbed systems with multiple time delays. Two delay-dependent criteria are proposed to guarantee the robust stability of a class of uncertain continuous multiple time-delay singularly perturbed systems subject to unstructured perturbations. Thirdly, the robust D-stability of nominally stable discrete uncertain systems with multiple time delays is considered. Finally, the robust stability of nominally stable uncertain discrete singularly perturbed systems with multiple time delays subject to unstructured and structured perturbations is investigated. Some criteria, delay-dependent or delay-independent, will be proposed to guarantee the robust stability of the uncertain discrete multiple time-delay singularly perturbed systems. The improvements of our results over those in recent literature are also illustrated if the comparisons are possible. Some numerical examples will also be provided to illustrate our main results.

Estudo da estabilidade de tensão em duas escalas de tempo por métodos diretos: análise quase estática / Voltage stability analysis on two time scales by direct methods: quasi steady state analysis

Choque Pillco, Edwin 10 August 2015 (has links)
The aim of this study is the extent of direct methods for the study of voltage stability in power systems. Because of the diversity of devices with different speed of action, time-scales properties were explored to enable this extension. This research work has as contributions (i) establishing a general methodology for stability analysis of electric power systems on time scales and (ii) the extent of direct methods for the analysis of stability in time-scales scales of electric power systems. Based on the theory of singularly perturbed systems, we propose a general algorithm of stability analysis in time-scales electric power systems and develop the theoretical foundations of this algorithm to validate the decomposition of stability analysis in time scales. Thus, the stability analysis of a power system can be decomposed in the stability analysis of their corresponding fast and slow subsystems of lower order. These fundamentals fill the gap that existed between the stability analysis in the short-term and mid-term and establishes a relationship between them. In particular, the quasi steady state method (QSS) for stability analysis of the mid-term scale, which presupposes that the fast dynamics are stable and transient stability analysis are particular cases of the algorithm proposed. From the fundamentals of decomposition of time scales stability analysis, the direct methods of stability analysis will be extended, in particular CUEP method initially developed for transient stability analysis, for the mid-term stability problem via time-scale analysis. This extension is important because the direct methods are fast, and enable the development of voltage stability analysis techniques that are suitable for real time applications. The proposed methodology was tested in small power systems with good results in the evaluation of operating times of the control and protection equipment, also providing a better understanding of the stabilization mechanisms of the analyzed power systems.

Abdelrahim, Mahmoud 23 July 2014 (has links)
Event-triggered control is a sampling paradigm in which the sequence of transmission instants is determined based on the violation of a state-dependent criterion and not a time-driven clock. In this thesis, we deal with event-triggered output-based controllers to stabilize classes of nonlinear systems. The contributions of the presented material are threefold: (i) we stabilize a class of nonlinear systems by using an emulation-based approach; (ii) we develop a co-design procedure to simultaneously design the output feedback law and the event-triggering condition for linear systems; (iii) we propose stabilizing event-triggered controllers for nonlinear systems whose dynamics have two-time scales (in particular, we only rely on the knowledge of an approximate model of the slow dynamics)

Analyse de stabilité et synchronisation des systèmes singulièrement perturbés / Stability analysis and synchronisation of singularly perturbed systems

Ben Rejeb, Jihene 19 September 2017 (has links)
In the first part, we introduce and analyze a general class of singularly perturbed linear hybrid systems, in which the slow or fast nature of the variables is mode-dependent. Our stability analysis is based on classical results of Lyapunov’s theory for singularly perturbed systems. A second part of this work presents the design of a decentralized control strategy that allows singularly perturbed multi-agent systems to achieve synchronization with global performance guarantees. To avoid the use of centralized information related to the interconnection network structure, the problem is solved by rewriting the synchronization problem in terms of stabilization of a singularly perturbed uncertain linear system

Contribuição à análise de estabilidade transitória, em duas escalas de tempo, de sistemas elétricos de potência via métodos diretos / Contribution to two-time scale transient stability assessment of power systems by direct methods

Theodoro, Edson Aparecido Rozas 25 March 2013 (has links)
The main objective of this work is to investigate the existence of several time-scales in the mathematical models of electric power systems, in particular the existence of two-time scales: slow and fast, and exploit these features in the direct transient stability assessment. In particular, the Controlling Unstable Equilibrium Point (CUEP) method is studied for two-time scale models of power systems and applied to transient stability analysis. In order to accomplish this aim, a sound theoretical basis for two-time scale transient stability analysis of electric power system models will be provided, as well as energy functions and new numerical algorithms for proper two-time scale CUEP calculations, with the purpose of investigating improvements and possible limitations of this method when compared with the traditional CUEP method. Exploiting the two-time scale features of power system models, it is intended to obtain new robust numerical algorithms for transient stability analysis, as well as to diminish the conservativeness of the results.
