Tvärflöjt vs. Piccolo : Vilka skillnader och utmaningar finns det mellan de två instrumenten?

Onegård, Elisa January 2023 (has links)

A Pedagogical Guide to the Piccolo Trumpet

Goldman, Casey 05 1900 (has links)
The modern piccolo trumpet is required by professional trumpet players for the performance of solo repertoire, chamber music, orchestra, and wind band. Students in universities around the world study the piccolo trumpet in preparation for professional careers, but relatively few pedagogical tools exist to specifically focus on the nuanced techniques of the instrument such as articulation, range, and sound production. The purpose of this project is to create a pedagogical guide that can serve as a method for students learning the modern piccolo trumpet.

Využití mykorhizy při vegetativním množení dřevin bylinnými řízky

Ján, Jakub January 2017 (has links)
The topic of the diploma thesis was the study of the influence of commercial mycorrhizal preparation on the rooting of softwood cuttings of two selected species of ornamental shrubs (Forsythia × intermedia 'Maluch' and Weigela florida 'Piccolo'). The main objective was to find out whether the mycorrhizal preparation can make the process of vegetative propagation more efficient and favourably influence the formation of roots. The used preparation contained arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi of the genus Glomus, two different amounts of the preparation were used. The experiment was carried out in the summer months of the year 2016. The experiment was founded in a plastic greenhouse on the ground of the Faculty of Horticulture in Lednice in Moravia (the Czech Republic), two main terms of propagation passed (in June and August) and one supplementary term passed (in August). The total number of adventitious roots, the number of branched roots, the length of shoots and the mortality of cuttings were evaluated. Mycorrhizal colonization of roots was evaluated in the laboratory under the microscope. The results of the experiment did not show that the used mycorrhizal preparation can positively affect the rooting of softwood cuttings, the application of the mycorrhizal inoculum did not improve the efficiency of vegetative propagation and did not provide convincing advantages. Mycorrhizal fungi did not stimulate the growth of cuttings, and in fact they did not influence the number of adventitious roots neither in Forsythia × intermedia 'Maluch', nor in Weigela florida 'Piccolo'. The only significant positive was that the Weigela florida 'Piccolo' had a higher number of branched roots after inoculation. The observation of roots under the microscope showed that the roots of both species were colonized by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, but the extent of colonization did not reach high levels. Mycorrhizal inoculation of propagation substrate cannot be recommended as an effective method that would improve rooting. However, it should be added that the experiment only passed for one year and the results were based only on one term of propagation. Thus the influence of mycorrhizal fungi on the rooting of plant cuttings should be the subject of further research.

Autonomous visual tracking of stationary targets using small unmanned aerial vehicles

Prince, Robert A. 06 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / A control system was developed for autonomous visual tracking of a stationary target using a small unmanned aerial vehicle. The kinematic equations of this problem were developed, and the insight obtained from examination was applied in developing controllers for the system. This control system controlled the orientation of the camera to keep it constantly pointing at the target, and also controlled the trajectory of the aircraft in flight around the target. The initial control law that was developed drives the aircraft trajectory to a constant radius around the target. The range to the target is not directly measurable, so it was estimated using steady state Kalman filters. Once a range estimate is obtained, it is used to control the range to the target, and the aircraft trajectory is driven toward a circle with a specified radius. Initial tests of the control system with Simulink simulations have shown good performance of the control system. Further testing with hardware will be conducted, and flight tests are scheduled to be conducted in the near future. Conclusions are drawn and recommendations for further study are presented. / Ensign, United States Navy

Postmodern Multiplicities in Three Original Works

Bejo, Ermir 12 1900 (has links)
My recent compositions are situated within a postmodern theoretical framework. The heterogeneity of materials and hybridity of musical formation in these works are interpreted and contextualized within a personal reading of postmodern theories. The critical essay traces my aesthetics through a historical investigation into the definition of musical postmodernism. Through extensive citation and analysis of the writings of Julius T. Fraser, Italo Calvino, and Richard Rorty, the essay aims to provide a theoretical context for the interpretation of the musical examples. The creative documentation contains three newly-composed musical works: Piano Trio from Opus 3/c, Opus 6 for Violin, and Opus 7 for Piccolo. The works' postmodern features include creative approaches to the fragmentation of musical time into separate levels, historical allusions, and the exploration of multiplicity.

Autonomous landing system for a UAV / Autonomous landing system for a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

Lizarraga, Mariano I. 03 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / This thesis is part of an ongoing research conducted at the Naval Postgraduate School to achieve the autonomous shipboard landing of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). Two main problems are addressed in this thesis. The first is to establish communication between the UAV's ground station and the Autonomous Landing Flight Control Computer effectively. The second addresses the design and implementation of an autonomous landing controller using classical control techniques. Device drivers for the sensors and the communications protocol were developed in ANSI C. The overall system was implemented in a PC104 computer running a real-time operating system developed by The Mathworks, Inc. Computer and hardware in the loop (HIL) simulation, as well as ground test results show the feasibility of the algorithm proposed here. Flight tests are scheduled to be performed in the near future. / Lieutenant Junior Grade, Mexican Navy

SPERANZA E SPERANZE NELLA LETTERATURA ITALIANA DEL SECONDO NOVECENTO / Hope and Hopes in Italian Literature in the Second Half of the Twentieth Century

MASETTI, LUCIA 14 May 2021 (has links)
My research does not aim to record exhaustively the occurrences of hope in contemporary literature. It rather wants to show hope’s multiple nuances through significant examples, highlighting its pervasiveness and resistance. I specifically analyse the works of nine authors: Carlo Betocchi, Dino Buzzati, Italo Calvino, Giorgio Caproni, Primo Levi, Mario Luzi, Luigi Santucci, Vittorio Sereni and Ignazio Silone. I use a comparative methodology, with a multidisciplinary approach. My thesis is divided into eight parts, each of ones examines a different declination of the central theme. The first one offers a general description of hope and its presuppositions, the second one explores the link between hope and temporality. The next two parts analyse hope as practically displayed in individual life, from two complementary points of view: as a mature virtue, which asks every man to live up to himself, and as a "child" virtue, expressed in caring for the small things of everyday life. The fifth part opens to consider hope in interpersonal relationships, the sixth focuses on its links with natural and cultural beauty. Finally, the last two parts develop the theme of hope in relation to death and the Divine.
