Hardware evaluation platform based on GNU Radio and the USRP / Hårdvaruutvärderingsplattform baserad på GNU Radio och USRP

Ingemarsson, Carl January 2009 (has links)
<p>GNU Radio is a software framework allowing easy creation of digital signal processing applications on a regular PC. The Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) is a hardware component that can be used as a radio front-end and that is connected to a PC using USB. GNU Radio and the USRP together form a system for software-defined radio. The purpose of this thesis project have been to insert a large programmable logic circuit into the system that GNU Radio and the USRP together form. The goal of this is to make it possible to move parts of the signal processing away from GNU Radio and instead implement these parts in hardware. Possibilities for doing this has been analyzed and one of the possible systems performing this has been designed.</p>

Architecture for Diagnostic Platform

Hedfors, Sara January 2010 (has links)
<p>In order to maximize operating time of an industrial machine and minimize stand-by time, service time and operating costs, a diagnostic system can be a useful tool. Diagnostic systems employ information already available in a machine’s control system (such as control signals, system state, sensor readings and so forth) to perform intelligent fault detection and localisation, and predict future faults and service needs.</p><p>CC Systems develops advanced electronics and control systems for industrial machines and vehicles operating in rough environments. One of their products is a diagnostic platform called Diagnostic Runtime Engine (DRE), supplying the customer with a tool for building a diagnostic system. The platform offers supervision of the control system. Actions are performed when it detects a possible fault or indication of a potential future fault. An action could be for example the creation of an alarm.</p><p>The DRE, as designed today, only works together with a control system running in an environment called CoDeSys. In this master thesis a new architecture of the platform is presented, with the objective to make the platform compatible with an arbitrary control system. A prototype is implemented to prove the concept of the suggested architecture model. A number of different standard diagnostic blocks, used for building the diagnostic system, are also suggested with the objective to make it easier for the user to employ the DRE. A proposition of how development with the diagnostic platform can proceed beyond this thesis is also presented.</p> / <p>För att maximera drifttid hos en industriell maskin och minimera driftskostnader samt standby- och service-tid, kan ett diagnostiksystem användas.

Design and Development of 3-DOF Modular Micro Parallel Kinematic Manipulator

Ng, C. C., Ong, S. K., Nee, Andrew Y. C. 01 1900 (has links)
This paper presents the research and development of a 3-legged micro Parallel Kinematic Manipulator (PKM) for positioning in micro-machining and assembly operations. The structural characteristics associated with parallel manipulators are evaluated and the PKMs with translational and rotational movements are identified. Based on these identifications, a hybrid 3-UPU (Universal Joint-Prismatic Joint-Universal Joint) parallel manipulator is designed and fabricated. The principles of the operation and modeling of this micro PKM is largely similar to a normal size Stewart Platform (SP). A modular design methodology is introduced for the construction of this micro PKM. Calibration results of this hybrid 3-UPU PKM are discussed in this paper. / Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA)

Designing mobile ambient applications

Vitas, Marko January 2012 (has links)
Android is a fast growing platform with a lot of users and applications on the market. In order to challenge the competition, a new software product should be designed carefully, conforming to the platform constraints and conveying to the user expectations. This research focuses on defining a suitable architecture design for the specific use case of interest, an Android application focused on location based data. The research process is backed up by a prototype application construction with features such as location based reminders and mobile communication with web services. Moreover, an analysis has been conducted on existing products with the proven quality, to extract information on current best practice implementations of several interesting features. Furthermore, the demand for targeting multiple platforms with the same application motivated a research on portability and reuse of code among different platforms. The constructed system is divided into a client-server pair. Opposite to the client (mobile) side, the server side analyzes the process of extending an existing architecture by integrating it with a web service project used for exchanging data with the mobile devices. Finally, the thesis is not strictly constrained to the given use case because it presents several general concepts of application design through architectural and design patterns.

What matters in the digital shopping mall? : A study of Chinese consumers’ adoption of E-business platforms and vendors

Shan, Min January 2012 (has links)
E-business is growing rapidly all over the world and especially in China, which now has the largest C2C market in the world. Most studies of users’ experience of E-business either focus on the platform usage, platform adoption or include platform usage and vendors’ behavior as variables in general e-retailing models. However, we do not know much about what effect the interplay between E-business platforms and vendors operating on the platform has on consumers E-business behavior. In this paper, buyers' behavior in terms of choosing platforms and choosing stores is examined separately, while measurements for influencing factors such as size of vendor base and trust of platform owner is included to capture second order effects. Data was gathered through a questionnaire, published on a professional Chinese survey website for collecting data. Afterwards, SPSS was used for analyzing data. Similarities and differences between the outcomes for the two research questions were analyzed. The main patterns in the two models are similar, suggesting that the interaction between platform owners and vendors has impact on buyers as well. Price, which was one of the most important features of E-business, proved to be of minor importance for choosing both E-business platform and vendors. However, there are some differences between adoption of platforms and vendors, range of market is important for platform adoption, while it is not a indicator for consumers to choose a certain vendor. These findings suggest that there are second order effects involved in E-business platforms. Further, they indicate that once an E-business platform has acquired a large enough user base, the owner might consider increasing revenues from vendor fees, as long as they translate to small product price increases rather than a decreased vendor user base.

Automatic Construction of Model Testing Case: Methodology and Prototype

Lin, Chien-Ping 22 July 2010 (has links)
Software testing is a vital part of the software development process, usually implemented at the coding stage, and costly. Due to the increased use of the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Model Driven Architecture (MDA) approach in systems analysis and design, Model-Based Testing has been discussed as a prominent solution for software testing to reduce the cost of software testing. Prior researches proposed an integrated method which utilizes the artifacts from the Platform Independent Model (PIM) to construct the test paths and generate the test cases. This study develops a methodology which extracting the information from PIM (e.g., Sequence Diagram and Class diagram) to generate the test cases directly. The research methodology is articulated using the design science research methodology. A usability evaluation is performed to demonstrate its applicability. With this methodology, the test cases can be easily generated; thereby reducing the cost and enhancing the efficiency of Model-Based Testing.

A study on the operating mode of the copyright collective management in Taiwan ¡Ð Focus on music industry.

Ye, Jun-Wei 02 August 2010 (has links)
Since 1997, ¡§Copyright Intermediary Organization ACT¡¨ has been implemented; seven collective management organizations emerged one after another. But they had a hard time promoting their business. Their earnings are far less than the incomes of other developed nations. What adversity are the collective management organizations in Taiwan faced with? What kind of reasons causes the collective management organizations to develop so slowly? In view of all these, this thesis is conducting a research and survey on the operation of the collective management organzitions in Taiwan. Besides probing into the reasons that result in the sluggish development of the collective management organizations through the analysis of quantification and profound interview, this thesis also provides the key points of constructing the system of copyright collective management in Taiwan and the framework of an integrating website platform for copyright collective management to offer a reference for the future development of integrating the collective management organizations in Taiwan. This thesis is divided into five chapters to explore the operating pattern of copyright collective management in Taiwan. The first chapter is introduction, which describes the research background, research motivation, and the destination of this study. Afterwards, it traces back to the related historical material of copyright collective management organizations and offers study methods, the scope and limitation of research, the framework of research, and the arrangement of chapters. The second chapter explores the ideal system of the collective management, starting from the ideal goal of the collective management to the direction of empirical operation of copyright collective management organization and finally pointing out the application of e-commerce and website platform. The third chapter mainly narrates the planned procedures and content of ¡§profound interview¡¨ and ¡§five municipacity copyright cognition inspections.¡¨ The fourth chapter follows the research fruit of the third chapter. It is about the result of interview and inspection. By means of it, the outline of the present development of the collective management system in Taiwan is revealed. The fifth chapter put forth the discovery of this research and a conclusion and some subsequent research suggestions.
