Resumo: A presente tese de doutorado tem por objetivo investigar as questões do Feminismo e da escritura (écriture) na obra Kate Chopin (1850 - 1904), importante nome do Realismo norteamericano, com especial ênfase em seus contos. Em prévia pesquisa de mestrado [A desarticulação do universo patriarcal em The Awakening, de Kate Chopin (2006)] observou-se que o multiverso literário da autora se articula a partir de uma simultânea construção e desarticulação de significações, as quais vão além e ao mesmo tempo se utilizam das estruturas narrativas presentes em cada texto. Assim, Kate Chopin joga com a competência linguística, cultural e ideológica de seu leitor; joga com suas convicções mais profundas, instaurando uma textualidade que transborda as estruturas narrativas, chega ao leitor e o ultrapassa abarcando também o universo social e político. Há nas obras de Chopin, portanto, um trabalho textual que engloba instâncias textuais e sócio-políticas, em um movimento de significação que se encaminha em direção ao que teóricos e filósofos pósestruturalistas chamarão, sobretudo a partir da década de 1960, de escritura (écriture), processo aberto e infinito, ao mesmo tempo gerador e subversor de significados. Recorrendo ao Feminismo anglo-americano, brasileiro e francês, bem como aos pensamentos de Jacques Derrida, Roland Barthes e de demais teóricos da escritura como interfaces teóricas, a proposta fundamental desta tese é demonstrar a ilimitada produtividade significativa desse trabalho escritural presente na obra da autora, trabalho este pouco estudado pela crítica especializada em suas obras. Dentro desta perspectiva, o corpus que será objeto de investigação limita-se à contística da autora / Abstract: This doctorate thesis intends to investigate Feminism and the concept of writing (écriture) in the works of Kate Chopin (1850 - 1904), an important American Realist writer, with especial attention to her short stories. In a previous Master degree research [A desarticulação do universo patriarcal em The Awakening, de Kate Chopin (2006)] it was concluded that the writer's literary multiverse is carefully crafted in order to simultaneously build and disarticulate significations which go beyond and at the same time make use of the narrative structures in each text. Thus, Kate Chopin plays with the reader's linguistic, cultural, and ideological competences as well as with his deepest convictions to establish a textuality that overflows the narrative structures, reaches the reader and oversteps him also affecting the social and political universes. In doing so, Chopin's works present a textual fabric that weaves textual and sociopolitical instances in a meaning production process that can be understood as what poststructuralist theoreticians and philosophers call, mainly from the 1960s on, writing (écriture), an open and infinite process both meaning-generating and meaning-subverting. Having the Anglo-American, Brazilian, and French Feminisms and the thoughts of Jacques Derrida, Roland Barthes and others writing theoreticians as analysis interface, this thesis aims to demonstrate the unlimited signifying productivity of Chopin's fictional work, an aspect mostly unstudied by her critics. Rose... assim era denominada a primeira revista gay editada no Brasil entre fins da década de 1970 e princípios de 1980. Em suas páginas eram publicadas informações do cenário artístico-cultural da época, contos eróticos, estórias em quadrinho, cartuns, anúncios de homens interessados em corresponder-se com outros homens, artigos que versavam sobre a homossexualidade masculina. Nessas páginas havia, também, uma profusão de corpos masculinos tendendo a nudez. Entretanto, nos limites dessa dissertação a revista Rose, não foi considerada apenas como veículo de comunicação e entretenimento, mas, antes disso, tomada como fonte histórica. Enquanto portadora de um conjunto de pedagogias do gênero e da sexualidade, a revista está implicada na produção de um modelo de masculinidade homossexual normalizada. A partir do referencial teórico dos Estudos de Gênero, desde uma perspectiva feminista e pós-estruturalista, analiso o enunciado que articula a masculinidade homossexual a comportamentos efeminados. E é a abjeção a tais comportamentos que servirá de base para a construção do homem gay discreto, marcadamente masculinizado. Portanto, a discrição – enquanto signo de masculinidade – parece assegurar a inteligibilidade social desses homens, “autorizando” sua própria existência. De qualquer maneira, a revista não deve ser reduzida a problemática aqui desenvolvida, uma vez que nela estão presentes outros enunciados. / Rose... so it was named the first gay magazine edited in Brazil between late 1970s and early 1980s. On its pages, information about the cultural-artistic scene of that time, erotic stories, stories in comics, cartoons, advertisements of men interested in corresponding with other men, and articles that dealt with male homosexuality were published. On those pages there was also a profusion of male bodies tending to nudity. However, within the bounds of this dissertation, Rose magazine has not been considered only as a vehicle of communication and entertainment, above all, it has been taken as a historical source. As a carrier of a set of pedagogies of gender and sexuality, the magazine is involved in producing a normalized model of homosexual masculinity. Based on the theoretical referential of Gender Studies from a feminist and post-structuralist perspective, it was analyzed the “enunciation” that articulates the homosexual masculinity to feminine behaviors. It is the degradation of such behaviors that will serve as the basis for the construction of a discrete gay man, with a distinct male-like behavior. Therefore, discretion – as a sign of masculinity – seems to ensure the social intelligence of those men, "authorizing" their own existence. However, the magazine should not be reduced to the problematic here developed, since there are other issues presented in it.

During the fall of 2017, a campaign named #metoo went viral on Twitter. The purpose of #metoo was to highlight how many that had experiences of sexual harassments and assaults. The campaign did also gain a lot of attention in traditional Swedish media. By looking at #metoo in Swedish printed media during the month of November in 2017, I have examined how the concept of sexual violence have been articulated, negotiated and represented. Sexual violence is a matter that has been important for both feminist scholars and activists for a long time, both from a theoretical and material perspective. Guided by a critical discourse analysis and a feminist poststructural approach, I have looked at sexual violence as a phenomenon that is discursively made and therefore, also non-stable and always up for negotiation depending on the specific time, place and context it is produced in. In my material, I have found three themes, boundaries, institutionalisation and tensions. They all, in different ways, support that by providing a picture of sexual violence as a fluid concept without clear boundaries, a tendency to turn all the issues of sexual harassments into a failure of the employer liability and the working environment. Also, by providing a picture of a colliding word view of sexual violence as both a brand new phenomenon in Sweden (especially related to immigration) and something that has always been a reality in many people’s life.

In my diploma work "Read the text as a myth (contribution to hermeneutics and the interpretation of the myth)" I pay attention to the issues of perceiving a text in communion. I worked on the assumption based on theories of deconstruction, poststructuralism, and collective memory. I take into consideration theories of media that are connected with M. McLuhan or W. J. Ong. I deal with the theory of the new orality and methods of the myth perception. The way of writing, I use, is based on the concentration of touches on different approaches of thinkers that I paid attention to. I aim to show, how we read the text, how we orient in narratives, what is the function of myths and how the issues are connected with the communion. Without communion, it is almost impossible to imagine, how these processes take place. I put emphasis on the dynamicity of the shifts of the discoursive perception of the text.

This thesis addresses a methodological impasse within film studies which is of ongoing concern because of the way that it demonstrates the discipline’s conflicting approaches to ideology. This impasse arises because proponents of poststructuralism and cognitivism utilise methodologies which not only make internally consistent interpretations of films, but are also able to discount the theoretical criticisms of the rival paradigm. Attempts to debate and transcend these divisions have been unsuccessful. This thesis contributes to this gap in knowledge by arguing that both academic theories (such as poststructuralism and cognitivism) and filmmaking practice are influenced by the same historically contingent socio-cultural determinants. Academic claims about film’s effects can then be conceptualised as aggregates of thought which are analogous to the dramatic manipulations that filmmakers unconsciously work into their films, with both forms of cultural activity (academic theorising and filmmaking practice) influenced by the same diachronic socio-cultural contexts. The term that I use for these specific forms of filmmaking practice is writing formations. A filmic writing formation is a form of filmmaking practice influenced by the same cultural ideas which also inform academic hermeneutics. The thesis does not undertake a conventional extended literature review as a means to identify the gap in the literature. This is because contested theoretical discourses are part of the thesis’ subject matter. I analyse academic literature in the same way that I analyse film, conceptualising both 3 activities as being determined by the same specific historical and socio-cultural contexts. The thesis analyses Shakespearean films because they offer multiple diachronic texts which are foregrounded as interpretations, and in which different approaches to filmmaking can be clearly compared and contrasted across time. They clarify the complex and often unconscious relationships between academic theorising and filmic writing formations by facilitating an investigation of how the historic development of academic discourse relates to the historic development of filmmaking practice. The corpus of texts for analysis has been confined to Anglo-American realist film adaptations, and European and American debates about, and criticism of, realist film from the advent of poststructuralism in the late 1960s to the present day. The thesis is structured as an investigation into the current theoretical impasse and the unsatisfactory attempts to transcend it, the articulation of a new methodology relating to filmic writing formations, the elaboration of how different filmic writing formations operate within realist film adaptation, and a close case study of the unfolding historical processes whereby academic theory and filmmaking practice relate to the same socio-cultural determinants using four adaptations of Hamlet from different time periods. It concludes by explaining how filmmakers exploit and manipulate forms of filmic grammar which correspond to academic theories about those forms of filmic grammar, with both activities influenced by the same underlying diachronic culture. The thesis argues, then, that academic poststructuralism and cognitivism can be 4 conceptualised as explanations for different but contiguous aspects of filmmaking practice, rather than as mutually exclusive claims about film’s effects.
