Theological education by extension for parishioners : developing a curriculum

Samuel, Selvanayagam Donald 11 1900 (has links)
Theological Education by Extension (TEE) for parishioners is the general area of study. However, focus is placed on the developing of a curriculum, particularly on the problems and challenges around developing of a relevant TEE curriculum. Four different TEE programmes in Botswana were studied. The findings showed that problems were experienced by respondents and others who are involved in TEEs in Botswana. The respondents could identify and describe some of such problems and challenges. Therefore the researcher could arrive at the following conclusion:- Students, staff and all other parties of a TEE must collectively and fully participate in the developing of the curriculum. Moreover, the socio-cultural context influences TEE curriculum; therefore, students need to be trained to respond to such influences in their life situations. Once again, it is important that the curriculum policy and the process of planning take into account of some basic concerns like the theological presuppositions, aims and objectives and basic commitments or foci behind the curriculum. If these concerns are well attended, a more relevant TEE curriculum can be developed. / Philosophy, Practical & Systematic Theology / Th. M. (Practical Theology)

Adult children of divorce : patterns of organisation characterising committed relationships

Fulford, Claire Natalie 06 1900 (has links)
This study aims to present an alternative framework with which to view the phenomenon of parental divorce and its perceived consequences for adult children of divorce in committed relationships. Research done within the traditional Newtonian framework is reviewed and its limitations explicated. The epistemological presuppositions of the new epistemology are presented along with their implications for conducting research. The importance of description as research methodology is emphasised. Written descriptions from various adult children of divorce are presented. Metadescriptions, by the author, are presented. These metadescriptions, based on the presuppositions of the new epistemology, highlight the value of describing the patterns of organisation which characterise the committed relationships of adult children of divorce. It is concluded that an alternative approach, based on the new epistemology, enlarges our understanding of the adult child of divorce within the context of a committed relationship. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology)

Gud och vardagsspråket : En religionsfilosofisk förutsättningsanalys / God and Everyday Language : An Analysis of Presuppositions in Philosophy of Religion

Fromm Wikström, Linda January 2010 (has links)
The main purpose of this dissertation is to answer the question of how one can understand the fact that we mean very different things when we say that God exists and when we say that chairs, mountains and trees exist, and that it is still a matter of existence. On the one hand it seems that we talk about the same thing when we say that something exists, irrespective of what it is, on the other hand it seems to be a question of very different things depending on what it is we are talking about as existing. This dissertation seeks to give an understanding of the relation between the concept of truth and the concept of reality. The conclusion is not only that we presuppose these concepts in everything we do, say, believe and think, but that we presuppose a specific understanding of these concepts, namely a concept of objective truth and a concept of an external and mind independent reality. In this dissertation it is also argued that our use of these concepts and that we use them in everything we do – that they are as basic as they are – says something about how it is, about reality. The use of these concepts does not only say something of what we conceptually presuppose but it also says something about what we assume in relation to reality. The conceptual aspect, in this way, has consequences ontologi.

A view on Russian evangelical soteriology: scripture or tradition

Kouznetsov, Viktor Matveyevich 01 January 2003 (has links)
The Russian Evangelical Soteriology as a phenomenon was evaluated in the dissertation. The original Russian Evangelical confessions of faith and some other historical documents of the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries are used to present the following hypothesis. The historic fluidity of Soteriology of Russian Evangelica1s may only be understood in the light of their consistent adherence to the principles of Sola Scriptura and the Priesthood of all believers. We come to conclusion that the existence of Russian Evangelical Soteriology is not a question to be discussed, but a clear historical fact. We show that it has its past and present, a well-defended subject of study with clear presuppositions, rather developed vision, and it is unique as a phenomenon. The major principles of this theology strictly devoted to the Scripture and a flexible formulation of doctrines. We strongly insist that it is impossible without being eclectic combine the Evangelical Soteriology of Scripture with the Orthodox Soteriology of Tradition. The additional result of the study is the attempt to evaluate the possibility for a reconstruction of Russian Evangelical Soteriology as a part of a self-identification process. / Systematic Theology and Theological Ethics / M. Produção de tomateiro cultivado com acrescent solus® / Yeld of tomato cultivated with acrescent solus®

Schwertner, Diogo Vanderlei 15 February 2012 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The objectives of this study were: verify the adequation to the presuppositions of the mathematical model and, identify data transformation for productive and morphological variables of tomato in experiments in plastic tunnel and in field, considering each harvest date and grouped harvests during spring-summer and autumn-winter seasons; and, to evaluate the effect of the application of Acrescent Solus® in complementation and/or substitution to the mineral fertilization in coverage over productive and morphological variables, quality of fruit and color of leaves of tomato cultivated in plastic tunnel and in field during springsummer and autumn-winter seasons. Two experiments were conducted in plastic tunnel (spring-summer and autumn-winter) and one in field (spring-summer), both in a randomized block design with three replications in a bifactorial (2x4), with four additional controls. The tests of: non-additivity of Tukey, Lilliefors, Bartlett and Run Test, were used, respectively, for verify the adequation to the presuppositions of: additivity of the model, normality, homogeneity and randomness of errors. In cases of violation, the data were transformed and, submitted again to the analysis of the presuppositions of the mathematical model. The productive and morphological variables of tomato present adequation to the presupposition of additivity of the model. Violations of the productive and morphological variables occur to the presupposition of: normality, homogeneity and randomness of errors. The grouping of all harvests for analysis provides adequation of productive and morphological variables to the presuppositions of normality and homogeneity of errors. The data transformation that provides more proportion of adequation of productive and morphological variables to the presuppositions of normality, homogeneity and randomness of errors is the square root. In the spring-summer, the Acrescent Solus® does not alter the productive and morphological variables and, the quality of fruits of tomato, while, in the autumn-winter, it reduces the length, the width and the mass of fruits and, also, it does not alters the quality of fruits. The increase of the dose of Acrescent Solus®, combined with the mineral fertilization in coverage results in intensification of the green color of leaves, from the second and fourth harvest fruit in the spring-summer and autumn-winter, respectively, nevertheless, without showing favorable correlation with the expression of productive and morphological variables of tomato.

The aim of this research is to investigate how people with non-fluent aphasia construct and negociate identities in face-to-face interactions. Non-fluent aphasia is a symptom of a cerebral damage displayed by difficulties in producing talk. Through the use of concepts derived from Conversational Analysis and Interactional Sociolinguistics, it is observed how issues related to linguistic deficit become relevant in talk-in-interaction in conversations among persons with and without non-fluent aphasia. The corpus is composed of approximately fifteen hours of video and audio recordings of face-to-face interactions. Thirty two representative segments in which participants engage in construction of identities were selected. The generated data provide evidence that challenges to identity may be seen as the consequence of the “unsettled lives” produced by aphasia. This case study showed that it is not all people with aphasia who project the sick person identity that society makes available for them, principally if we consider the fact that identities can be projected/sustained in a private or public space, that is, in relationships/activities into and/or outside familiar context. Another relevant distinction in this study is concerned with the fact that we look for the language in use making intervening with not only the linguistic competence, but also, with the communicative competence. In this way, the results of analysis show that despite linguistic deficit, persons with aphasia can take part, socially, in the conversations with people without aphasia if both show themselves oriented and perceive the relevance of paralinguistics or non-linguistics resources to the discourse and social identities projection and negociation into interaction in progress.
