Working with Young and Addicted : a Study From the Point of View of Professional Social WorkerBrolin, Malin, Svedberg, Jenny January 2016 (has links)
This study explores how the Social Services work with the issue of adolescents using drugs or are at the beginning of a drug abuse and how the professionals view that work. This study is highly based on the real-life experience of professionals and them valuing the profession that they in. A qualitative research method was used to go into the depth of people's feelings and knowledge and therefore got us a better understanding. Semi-structured interviews with open questions was used to create a secure and comfortable place to open up for a good conversation. We have used two different theories, Labelling Theory and Social Learning Theories in this study to help explain the findings from research and interviews. In the results and analysis, we found four interesting themes that were prominent during the interviews, these were: social exclusion, mental illness, Attitudes towards drugs and preventive work. The themes will be explained and further developed in the analysis which was done through an un-official method with influences such as coding and thematising from the content analysis method. The results of the study showed the importance, but unfortunate lack, of preventive work by the Social Services. Keywords: Social Services, Adolescents, Drugs, Preventive Work

Skolans arbete mot alkohol och droger : Lärarnas uppfattning om det alkohol- och drogrelateradearbetet.Englund, Hannah, Kreuzer Boberg, Jessica January 2012 (has links)
This research aims to determine teacher perceptions on alcohol- and drug use among students, as well as how they implement the municipality framework against alcohol and drugs. The research was carried out in a midsized town in the centre of Sweden. It is characterized by an inductive approach and was performed through a qualitative method. Results were analyzed from a hermeneutic approach, and theories used are system theory, salutogenic approach and Mead’s symbolic interaction theory. One outcome from this research was the fact that teachers generally implement their work out of the municipality framework, even though teachers express their lack of knowledge about the content of the framework. Furthermore the research revealed that many teachers thought the relationship towards the students had a big impact on how they could manage to help them, that it was important that students felt that the teachers were trustworthy. The conclusion of this research is that there is a great variety regarding the commitment and knowledge among teachers when it comes to student usage of alcohol and drugs, even though teachers were given a common framework.

<p>The aim of this study was to examine how some Swedish school counsellor’s describe their school social work and how they look at its content. Further more the aim is to look at what restraining and promoting factors the school counsellor’s experience in their working situation. The approach of the study is qualitative and interviews have been made with five school counsellors. The results show that school counsellors have a variety of different working-areas, which consist of supporting and consulting pupils, parents and teachers through dialogue. Another assignment is to work preventive with groups and classes. Other scientists have found similar results as the ones in this study. About restraining and promoting factors in their work, the school counsellors expressed, for example, time and resources as restraining factors and as promoting factors they mentioned closeness to the pupils and working preventive. Their offices were mentioned being both a restraining and promoting factor due to the central activity of dialogue. They expressed that they were all satisfied with their work, but that it would be enough to work full-time on just one school. To analyse the results the time-geographic perspective was used.</p>

The Master's thesis deals with work-related stress in its context; preventing and managing it; and compares approaches to preventing and managing work-related stress in the Czech Republic and the Nordic countries. Work-related stress may have a negative impact on physical and mental health or overall quality of life of an individual and it may bring negative implications for an organization. The thesis follows theoretical basis for work- related stress, its factors and consequences from the point of view of an individual as well as an organization. The attention is concentrated on the approaches to preventing and managing work-related stress in organizations in regard to the nature of a work activity, the management level or particular activities carried out by human resources management. It is focusing on stress management precautions taken on the European and national level and describes the process conducted during the development of a programme for preventing and managing work-related stress and its effectivity evaluation.
