Em Diamantina, esse pedoambiente ? encontrado na ?rea de Prote??o Ambiental - APA Pau-de-Fruta, situada a 6 km da sede do munic?pio, a uma altitude m?dia de 1366 m. A APA est? inserida na Serra do Espinha?o Meridional, sua litologia ? predominantemente quartz?tica e a vegeta??o ? t?pica de campo rupestre, com pequenas ilhas de cerrado denominadas cap?es, que se adaptaram ao ambiente hidrom?rfico. O ambiente ? oligotr?fico e apresenta elevados teores de Al3+ e valores de satura??o por alum?nio. As turfeiras formadas nessa ?rea apresentam verticalmente uma estrutura bem definida, sendo que as camadas mais superficiais foram classificadas, de acordo com seu est?gio de decomposi??o, como f?bricas, as intermedi?rias como h?micas e as camadas mais profundas, como s?pricas. A turfeira, por ser um ambiente de ac?mulo de mat?ria org?nica em condi??es de baixa atividade de O2, favorece a forma??o e a manuten??o de subst?ncias h?micas, sobretudo as fra??es menos sol?veis, de forma que o teor de humina ? maior que os teores de ?cidos h?micos que, por sua vez, s?o maiores que o teor de ?cidos f?lvicos. A turfeira, devido ao seu comportamento tipo esponja, apresenta grande import?ncia na din?mica da ?gua nessa regi?o, de forma que, nos per?odos chuvosos, ela armazena ?gua em seus poros e a libera de forma gradativa com o passar do tempo. A turfeira da APA Pau-de-Fruta ocupa 81,75 ha, armazena cerca de 629.782 m3 de ?gua e estoca em torno de 33.129 toneladas de carbono. Dessa forma, a turfeira da APA Pau-de-Fruta representa um consider?vel reservat?rio natural de ?gua, bem como o importante ambiente de sequestro de carbono e ? fundamental para o abastecimento de ?gua da cidade de Diamantina. / Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Produ??o Vegetal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2009. / ABSTRACT The Peat Bog is formed by the accumulation in succession of crop residues in places with conditions that inhibit the activity of microbial decomposers, such as excessive moisture, low pH, lack of oxygen and mild temperatures. In Diamantina, this is found in the Environmental Protection Area - EPA Pau-de-Fruta, situated 6 km from the headquarters of the city, at an average altitude of 1,366 m. The EPA is inserted in the Serra do Espinha?o Meridional, its lithology is predominantly quartz and its vegetation is typical of rocky field, with small islands of ?cerrado? (vegetation of the Brazilian interior) called ?cap?es?, which are adapted to the hydromorphic environment. The environment is oligotrophic and offers high levels of Al3+ and the values of saturation by aluminum. The bogs formed in this area have a vertically well-defined structure and, according to their stage of decomposition, the more superficial layers were classified as ?f?bricas?, the intermediate layers as ?h?micas?, and the deeper layers as ?s?pricas?. The bog, being an environment of accumulation of organic material under conditions of low activity of O2, promotes the formation and maintenance of wet substances, especially the less soluble fractions, so that the content of humin is greater than the levels of humic acids which in turn are greater than the content of fulvic acids. The bog, because of its behavior type sponge, has great importance in the dynamics of water in this region, so that in rainy periods it stores water in its pores and releases it gradually over the time. The bog of the EAP Pau-de-Fruta occupies 81.75 ha, stores about 629,782 m3 of water and stocks around 33,129 tonnes of carbon. Thus, the bog of of the EAP Pau-de-Fruta is a considerable natural reservoir of water, and an important environment of carbon sequestration and it is essential for the supply of water for the city of Diamantina.

O per?odo de conviv?ncia entre as cultivares de milho, feij?o e mandioca e as plantas daninhas foi de 60, 45 e 75 dias ap?s emerg?ncia das culturas, respectivamente. Para a cultura do milho e do feij?o foi avaliada a aloca??o de mat?ria seca e de nutrientes, inclusive entre os diferentes ?rg?os. Ainda para o feij?o foram estimados os coeficientes para efici?ncia de absor??o, transporte e utiliza??o dos nutrientes. Para a cultura da mandioca, foram determinadas, al?m da aloca??o de mat?ria seca, caracter?sticas morfofisiol?gicas ligadas ? ?rea foliar. A folha e o caule do milho foram os principais ?rg?os afetados negativamente pela competi??o, enquanto as ra?zes das esp?cies competidoras foram os ?rg?os mais prejudicados. Em competi??o com o feijoeiro, as folhas e o caule das esp?cies daninhas foram os ?rg?os mais prejudicados. Com mandioca, os componentes vegetativos das plantas daninhas sofreram reduzidas modifica??es, sem preju?zos quanto ? produ??o de mat?ria seca. As ra?zes do feijoeiro e de mandioca foram os principais ?rg?os afetados negativamente pela competi??o. Os gen?tipos AL 25 (milho) e IPR Colibri (feij?o) foram os que menos toleraram a competi??o. De forma contr?ria, as cultivares P?rola (feij?o) e Periquita (mandioca) demonstraram possuir as maiores habilidades competitivas. O milho mostrou-se sens?vel ? competi??o com B. brizantha e C. benghalensis e competitivo com B. plantaginea. Esta esp?cie, entretanto, mostrou-se altamente competitiva com feij?o e mandioca. Al?m disso, A. spinosus, em competi??o com o feijoeiro, demonstrou possuir a maior habilidade competitiva. A capacidade competitiva entre esp?cies vegetais, quando se trata do ac?mulo de mat?ria seca e relativo de nutrientes, n?o representou vantagem para as esp?cies de plantas daninhas, quando elas foram mantidas em conviv?ncia com o milho. O feijoeiro apresentou baixa capacidade de competi??o por nutrientes, particularmente N e P. A ?rea foliar espec?fica e a raz?o de ?rea foliar da mandioca n?o foram afetadas pela competi??o. Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Produ??o Vegetal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2011. / ABSTRACT There were evaluated in this study the effects of competition between maize, beans and cassava, and six weed species in the accumulation and allocation of dry matter and nutrients by plants, the potential of some of these species in recycling nutrients and nutritional efficiency of bean. For this end an experiment was performed to each culture with three genotypes of maize, beans and two of three cassava grown in competition with six weeds species, apart from additional treatment corresponding to the maize, beans and cassava cultivars and weed species absent from the competition. The period of coexistence among maize, beans and cassava cultivars and the weeds was 60, 45 and 75 days after crop emergence, respectively. For the corn and beans there were evaluated allocation of dry matter and nutrients, including between different organs. Even for the beans there were estimated coefficients for uptake, transport and utilization of nutrients. For cassava plants there were determined, besides the allocation of dry matter, morphological and physiological characteristics related to leaf area. The leaf and stalk of corn were the main adversely affected organs by competition, while the roots of competing species were the most affected organs. In competition with the beans, leaves and stems of weeds were the most affected organs. With cassava, the weeds vegetative components suffered reduced modifications without losses in the production of dry matter. The roots of bean and cassava were the main adversely affected organs by competition. Genotypes AL 25 (maize) and IPR Colibri (beans) were the less tolerant in the competition. Conversely, the P?rola (beans) and Periquita (cassava) have showed the greatest competitive abilities. The corn was sensitive to competition with B. brizantha and C. benghalensis and competitive with B. plantaginea. This species, however, proved to be highly competitive with beans and cassava. Furthermore, A. spinosus, in competition with the bean, has demonstrated the greatest competitive ability. The competitive ability of plant species when it comes to the accumulation of dry matter and related nutrients did not represent the advantage to the weeds, where they were kept in close contact with the corn. The bean had low capacity to compete for nutrients, particularly N and P. The specific leaf area and leaf area ratio of cassava were not affected by competition. B. brizantha and C. echinatus, free of coexistence with the corn, had high potential to recycle nutrients.

Observaram-se gen?tipos com grande diverg?ncia gen?tica entre si, sendo os gen?tipos UFLA-6 e UFVJM-24 os mais divergentes dos demais, contudo, a maioria dos gen?tipos s?o similares, o que evidencia uma base gen?tica restrita. O comprimento do pec?olo, propor??o da proje??o alada, o tom de roxo da superf?cie adaxial da nervura prim?ria, formato da margem foliar, n?mero de folhas totais, formato da base da folha e di?metro da base do pec?olo foram as caracter?sticas mais discriminantes quanto ? diverg?ncia gen?tica em gen?tipos de couve. Verificou-se variabilidade gen?tica entre os gen?tipos, com predomin?ncia dos efeitos gen?ticos sobre os ambientais, indicando a possibilidade de se obter ganhos gen?ticos representativos no melhoramento. Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Produ??o Vegetal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2013. / ABSTRACT Although there is large kale genetic variability there are few studies in Brazil aiming to obtain information of this culture for breeding programs purposes. Thus, this study aimed to characterize 30 kale genotypes from morpho-agronomic traits to estimate the genetic diversity, the importance of those traits for the divergence, the agronomic performance, the genetic parameters and the correlation between the evaluated characteristics. The experiment was conducted at the Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM), using a randomized block design with four replicates consisting of five individuals, evaluating 30 genotypes of kale from 44 features. Genotypes with significant genetic divergence were observed, and the genotypes UFLA-6 and UFVJM -24 were the ones most divergent from the others, however, most genotypes are similar, which shows a narrow genetic base. The petiole length, projection winged proportion, the purple shade of adaxial surface of the primary beam, form of leaf margins, number of leaves, shape of leaf base and diameter of the base of the petiole were the characteristics that stood out for genetic divergence in kale genotypes. There was observed significant genetic variability among genotypes, with a predominance of genetic effects over the environmental ones, indicating the possibility of obtaining representative genetic gains in breeding. The leaf length, leaf width, petiole?s diameter, leaf area, plant height, shoot number and dry weight of the leaves are presented as the most important features in the kale genetic improvement. The commercial genotypes showed distinct characteristics from the other genotypes. It stands for genotype UFLA-11, which appeared between genotypes with biggest leaf size and commercial leaf production.

Foram realizados dois ensaios. Com o primeiro ensaio objetivou-se selecionar gen?tipos de batata-doce de melhores caracter?sticas de produ??o de ramas e avaliar a composi??o bromatol?gica das ramas emurchecidas de batata-doce e de suas silagens. O experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda Rio Manso, da UFVJM, em Couto Magalh?es de Minas - MG. Foi utilizado o delineamento em blocos ao acaso, com quinze gen?tipos de batata-doce: BD-31TO, BD-26, BD-13, BD-17, BD-22, BD-24, BD-54, BD-56, BD-69, BD-43, BD-44, BD-46, BD-52, BD-35 e a cultivar comercial Brazl?ndia Rosada, com tr?s repeti??es. Apenas para o n?mero de folhas por metro linear n?o foram observadas diferen?as significativas entre os gen?tipos. A maioria dos gen?tipos estudados apresenta m?dia a alta produtividade de massa verde (PMV) e de massa seca das ramas (PMS). Devido ? exist?ncia de correla??o entre o comprimento da haste principal (CH) e a PMS, pode-se em futuros trabalhos mensurar o comprimento da haste visando maiores PMS. N?o foram observadas diferen?as significativas entre os gen?tipos para os teores de carboidratos sol?veis das ramas emurchecidas e silagens das ramas. Foram encontradas diferen?as significativas para os teores de mat?ria seca (MS), cinzas, prote?na bruta (PB), fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), fibra em detergente ?cido (FDA) e lignina. Para as ramas emurchecidas, os gen?tipos BD-26, BD-13, BD-56, BD-46, BD-35 e Brazl?ndia Rosada apresentaram as composi??es bromatol?gicas mais adequadas. O n?mero de folhas na cultura da batata-doce n?o possui rela??o com a qualidade bromatol?gica de suas ramas. Para as silagens das ramas, o gen?tipo BD-56 proporcionou as melhores caracter?sticas bromatol?gicas. Com o segundo ensaio objetivou-se avaliar caracter?sticas de produtividade de ra?zes, a composi??o bromatol?gica das silagens de ra?zes e o potencial de produ??o de prote?na bruta de diferentes gen?tipos batata-doce. Foi utilizado o delineamento em blocos ao acaso, com dez tratamentos e duas repeti??es, sendo os gen?tipos de batata-doce oriundos do banco de germoplasma da UFVJM (BD-31TO, BD-17, BD-22, BD-24, BD-54, BD-69, BD-43, BD-46, BD-52 e BD-35). As parcelas foram compostas por duas leiras de 3,0 m, com 0,90 m entre leiras e 0,30 m entre plantas. Na colheita foram avaliadas as caracter?sticas de produtividade total de ra?zes (PTR) e produtividade comercial de ra?zes (PCR), n?o sendo observadas diferen?as significativas entre os gen?tipos para essas caracter?sticas. As PTR e PCR foram baixas, abaixo da m?dia nacional. Para os teores m?dios de MS, nitrog?nio amoniacal (%N-NH3 NT-1), FDN e lignina houve diferen?as significativas entre os gen?tipos avaliados. Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Produ??o Vegetal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2012. / ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to select genotypes of sweet potato more productive and better nutritional quality and evaluate the quality of silage branches and roots of sweet potato. Two experiments were conducted. With the first experiment was aimed to select genotypes of sweet potato with best features of production of branches and assess the chemical composition of branches wilted sweet potato and its silages. The experiment was conducted at the Fazenda Rio Manso of the UFVJM in the city of Couto Magalh?es de Minas ? MG - Brazil. We used a randomized block design, with fifteen genotypes of sweet potato: BD-31TO, BD-26, BD-13, BD-17, BD-22, BD-24, BD-54, BD-56, BD-69, BD-43, BD-44, BD-46, BD-52, BD-35 and the commercial cultivar Brazl?ndia Rosada, with three replications. Only the number of leaves per linear meter no significant differences were observed among genotypes. Most genotypes has medium to high productivity of green mass (PGM) and dry mass of branches. Due the correlation between the length of the main branch (CB) and productivity of dry mass of branches (PDM), can in future studies to measure the length of the rod aiming higher PDM. No significant differences were observed among genotypes for soluble carbohydrates from branches and wilted silages of branches. Significant differences were found for dry matter (DM), ash, crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF) and lignin. For the wilted branches, genotypes BD-26, BD-13, BD-56, BD-46, BD-35 and Brazl?ndia Rosada presented better compositions bromatologic. The number of leaves in the culture of sweet potato has no relation with the chemical quality of their branches. For silages of branches, genotype BD-56 have the best qualitative characteristics. The second experiment aimed to evaluate characteristics of root yield, composition of silages of roots and the potential production of crude protein of sweet potato genotypes. We used a randomized block design with ten treatments and two replications, and the sweet potato genotypes from the germplasm bank of UFVJM (BD-31TO, BD-17, BD-22, BD-24, BD-54 , BD-69, BD-43, BD-46, BD-52, BD-35). The plots were composed of two piles of 3.0 m, with 0.90 m between furrows and 0.30 m between plants. At harvest, the characteristics evaluated were total root yields (TRY) and marketable yield of roots (MYR), no differences were observed among genotypes these characteristics. The TRY and MYR were low, below the national average. For the average levels of DM, ammonia nitrogen (% N-NH3.NT-1), NDF and lignin were no significant differences between genotypes. The genotypes BD-17, BD-69 and BD-46 showed the best results of composition of silages roots. The culture of sweet potato has a high potential for production of CP, especially with the genotypes BD-17, BD-54, BD-43, BD-46 and BD-52.

This study aimed to evaluate the use of compost waste from the textile industry in lettuce in the field. The doses of organic waste from the textile industry were 0; 7,5; 15, 30 and 60 m3 ha-1 and these were compared with the same doses of vermicompost and the dose of 40 m3 ha-1 of cattle manure (additional treatment). The treatments were arranged in randomized blocks, with four replications in a split-plot, and the sources of fertilizer plots and subplots doses. The economic dose of compound for maximum fresh weight of shoots was 27,9 m3 ha-1. In relation to humus, compost showed higher levels of P, Cu and Mn and a similar result as the basal respiration, leaf number, cumulative loss of weight, senescence and N, K, Ca, S, B, Zn and regarding Fe manure, it was estimated that the equivalent dose of the compound promotes higher levels of organic carbon and nutrients, and was similar for basal respiration, accumulated loss of weight, senescence and B levels, Zn, Fe and Mn. For other wastes reported in the literature the compound promoted or greater diameter of the head, leaf number, shoot fresh weight, cumulative loss of weight, N, P, K, S, B, Zn and Cu . The Cu and Mn in lettuce fertilized with compost were below those toxic for human consumption. Composting is effective for treatment of toxic waste from the textile industry and the compound can be used in place of manure on lettuce.

Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Produ??o Vegetal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2012. / ABSTRACT To improve the efficiency of absorption, by crops, of P in soil, through differentiated maneuvers of phosphorus fertilization, relates to a better utilization of nutrients added through fertilization, which means productivity gains. In soils with a predominance of low activity clays and oxides in their mineral fraction, the P fixation through the processes of adsorption and precipitation makes phosphorus nutrition a limiting factor for production of most cultivable species. The anion citrate derived from citric acid dissociation of the soil has high metal complexing power. Furthermore, its negative charge ensures an affinity with the positive charges of the oxides in the soil, competing with phosphate for the same binding sites. In order to verify the potential of citric acid to increase the bioavailability for maize and to modify the forms of inorganic P in the soil, there had been tested the combination doses of 0, 45, 90 and 180 mg dm-3 of P in a Typic Quartzipsamment soil and 0; 100, 200 and 400 mg dm-3 of P in a Typic Hapludox soil, with doses of 0, 1, 2 and 4 kg ha-1 of citric acid in experiments conducted in pots under greenhouse conditions. In Typic Quartzipsamment soil, 119 mg dm-3 of P and an equivalent to 0.8 kg ha-1 of citric acid gave maximum growth of maize crops. In the Typic Hapludox soil, the estimated dose was 96 mg dm-3 of P and equivalent to 2.0 kg ha-1 of citric acid. The plant response to the application of citric acid was due to solubilization of less labile forms increasing the more labile forms of inorganic P in soil. The phosphorus content in the plant and those extracted by Mehlich-1 and Anion Exchange Resin were not correlated to the addition of citric acid in the Typic Hapludox soil.

A aplica??o dos adubos nitrogenado e pot?ssico imediatamente ap?s o corte apresenta melhores resultados para as caracter?sticas estruturais, exceto para n?mero de folhas mortas. Two experiments mere conducted in a greenhouse, in a 4x2 factorial scheme, in a randomized block design with four repetitions. In experiment one, after the plants thinning in the vases, were applied weekly dosage of 50 mg dm-3 of N and K2O, until one week before the standardized cut, in total of four applications, and after the cut, were applied doses of 50 mg dm-3 of N and of K2O, in the intervals 0; 3; 6 and 9 days, been the cultivars evaluated with 44 days of regrowth. In experiment two, were applied unique dose of 50 mg dm-3 of N and of K2O, one week before the standardized cut and, after the cut were applied 100 mg dm-3 of N and of K2O in the intervals 0; 4; 8 and 12 days, evaluating the cultivars with 39 days of regrowth. In experiment one, only the dry material production and the relation leaf-stem were influenced for the intervals of fertilizer application. Already in the experiment two, total number of leaves, number of expanded leaves, number of dead leaves and accumulated laminar length were influenced for the interval in a negative linear form way, while the dry material production presents a quadratic answer to adubation intervals increase. In studied conditions, the conclusion is that cultivar Marandu presents bigger number of leaves and of tillers than the cultivar Xara?s, that presents bigger height, production of dry material, relation leaf-stem and regrowth production. The nitrogen fertilizer and potassium application immediately after the cut presents better results for the structural characteristics, except for number of dead leaves. The dry material production per vase and per plant is maximized with the adubation between four and five days after the cut.

A fim de observar o comportamento fisiol?gico, sementes rec?m beneficiadas desta esp?cie foram armazenadas em sacos de papel ao ar livre, e foram submetidas a testes de germina??o e umidade (%) periodicamente. As caracter?sticas morfofuncionais foram observadas, a olho nu, mediante processo de desenvolvimento (desde a protrus?o radicular, emerg?ncia at? o surgimento do primeiro prot?filo) em laborat?rio e casa de vegeta??o. Utilizou-se tr?s composi??es de substratos e tr?s n?veis de sombreamento para testar o efeito destas combina??es sobre a qualidade de mudas jovens da R. grandis, para tal, foi mensurado ao longo de 210 dias, a altura, di?metro do coleto, n?mero de folhas, clorofila total e biomassas secas. Por fim, a base de estacas apicais provenientes de mudas jovens resgatadas em ambiente natural da R. grandis, foram emergidas em quatro concentra??es de AIB e avaliadas aos 90 dias, mensurando o incremento em altura e di?metro, sobreviv?ncia (%), enraizamento (%), calogenia (%) e brota??es (%). Ressalta-se que, para todos os experimentos, os princ?pios b?sicos da experimenta??o (repeti??o, casualiza??o e controle local) foram atendidos, utilizando diferentes delineamentos experimentais. Diferentes ferramentas para an?lise estat?stica tamb?m foram utilizadas para auxiliar na tomada de decis?o. O fruto da R. grandis ? simples, seco, do tipo c?psula, deiscente, com comprimento m?dio de 16,24 mm e largura m?dia de 8,57mm. A semente ? elipsoide com presen?a de sarcotesta, apresentando comprimento m?dio de 7,40mm e largura m?dia de 4,57 mm. A R. grandis apresenta sementes recalcitrantes, a emerg?ncia ? do tipo Fanero-ep?geo-foli?ceo, e o processo de desenvolvimento para a semente se tornar uma pl?ntula completa delonga por, no m?nimo, 50 dias. Os substratos compostos por diferentes propor??es de vermiculita, casca de arroz e Bioplant?, associado com os sombreamentos 30 e 50% foram respons?veis por promover mudas da R. grandis de melhor qualidade. A t?cnica de propaga??o vegetativa por miniestaquia ? vi?vel, uma vez que houve 100% de sobreviv?ncia e alta porcentagem de enraizamento at? para o tratamento sem adi??o do AIB. / Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Ci?ncia Florestal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2017. / The aim of this study was to describe the morphology and biometric aspects of the fruit and seed, the morphofunctional characteristics and development of the seedling, and to obtain the classification the storage capacity of the seeds of Richeria grandis Vahl. It was also verified the influence of different compositions of substrates and levels of solar reduction under the emergence of seedlings and growth of seedlings via sexual propagation and the viability of the technique of minicache in the asexual propagation of R. grandis, submitted to different concentrations of the regulator of indolebutyric acid (IBA) growth. Seed collection occurred in 18 matrix trees established in flooded Forest Mills located in Biribiri State Park, Diamantina, MG, and all experiments were conducted in Forest Nursery and Seed Laboratory belonging to the Integrated Center for the Propagation of Forest Species ( CIPEF-UFVJM). The morphological and biometric characterization of fruits and seeds was by naked eye observations and measurements using a universal caliper. In order to observe the physiological behavior, freshly harvested seeds of this species were stored in paper bags in the open air and germinated and tested (%) periodically. The morphofunctional characteristics were observed in the laboratory and in the greenhouse by means of a developmental process (from root protrusion, emergence until the first protophyte). Three compositions of substrates and three levels of shading were used to test the effect of these combinations on the quality of R. grandis young seedlings. The height, collection diameter, number of leaves , total chlorophyll and dry biomass. Finally, the base of apical cuttings from young saplings rescued in the natural environment of R. grandis, were emerged in four concentrations of IBA and evaluated at 90 days, measuring the increase in height and diameter, survival (%), rooting (% ), calogenia (%) and sprouts (%). It should be noted that for all experiments, the basic principles of experimentation (repetition, randomization and local control) were met using different experimental designs. Different tools for statistical analysis were also used to aid in decision making. The fruit of R. grandis is simple, dry, capsule type, dehiscent, with an average length of 16.24 mm and an average width of 8.57 mm. The seed is ellipsoid with presence of sarcotesta, presenting an average length of 7.40 mm and an average width of 4.57 mm. R. grandis presents recalcitrant seeds, the emergence is of the Fanero-epigene-foliaceous type, and the development process for the seed becomes a complete seedling delonged for at least 50 days. The substrates composed of different proportions of vermiculite, rice husk and Bioplant ?, associated with shading 30 and 50% were responsible for promoting R. grandis seedlings of better quality. The technique of vegetative propagation by minicutting is feasible, since there was a 100% survival and a high percentage of rooting even for the treatment without addition of AIB.

It is, therefore, a reflection upon the mobility needs of poor urban households as expressed in terms of origin-destiny displacements for specific movements (house-work, house-school, house-shopping, house-healthcare and house-leisure), all of which being analyzed within the relationship between public transportation and poverty spaces of the city. In order to develop the study, theoretical aspects and themes related to the production of the urban space, to social and spatial segregation, to urban mobility and to transportation were confronted with the collected data referring to the urban population previously selected. This system comes as an alternative for the real state market performance since the end of the National Housing Bank (BNH), in 1986. Self-financed housing cooperatives play an important social role by contributing to own housing acquisition by low-income population, without, however, becoming a mechanism of social interest housing production. It is important to consider that Brazil registers a housing deficit of 6.6 million housing units (IBGE 2000/Census), which, compared to 1991, shows an increment of 21.7% to a growth rate of 2.2% a year. This deficit figure has been deepening, mainly with the end of the National Housing Bank (BNH). The self-financed cooperative housing production broadens around the Metropolitan Region of Natal (RMN) and remains as an alternative to the lack of financing in the housing / real state market. In general, the aim of this work is to analyze the role of self-financing housing cooperatives on the housing production in the RMN, in order to identify their role in the real state market, in the own housing promotion and in the housing policy. The Universe of this study is performance of four housing cooperatives - CHAF-RN, COOPHAB-RN, MULTHCOOP e CNH - that work through self-financing. It is considered here an amount of 38 undertakings launched between 1993 and 2002, including 8143 housing units. The methodology adopted consists of bibliographic, documental and field research. As a result, actions like brokerage, marketing, speculation, and the criteria to define places for undertakings and final products, show how close they are to the housing market production. As a matter of fact, this short distance explains why the self-financed cooperative production for social interest housing is still limited. This reinforces the theory that it is necessary to define and implement a subsidized housing policy to serve the low-income Brazilian population / A exemplo do que ocorreu no Brasil na d?cada de 1990, surge em Natal, 1993, um novo sistema de produ??o cooperada de moradia que consiste na antecipa??o de recursos dos pr?prios usu?rios ? produ??o - autofinanciamento. Esse sistema nasce enquanto uma alternativa para o desempenho das atividades do mercado imobili?rio face ? redu??o e escassez do financiamento estatal, ap?s a extin??o do Banco Nacional da Habita??o -BNH, em 1986. As Cooperativas Habitacionais Autofinanci?veis desempenham importante papel social, ao contribu?rem para a aquisi??o da casa pr?pria para determinados segmentos da popula??o, sem, no entanto, se constitu?rem mecanismo de promo??o e produ??o de habita??o de interesse social. Vale lembrar que o Brasil registra um d?ficit habitacional de 6,6 milh?es de unidades (IBGE -Censo/2000) que, comparado ao de 1991, significa um incremento de 21,7% a uma taxa de crescimento de 2,2% ao ano. O quadro de d?ficit vem se aprofundando, principalmente com a extin??o do BNH. O objetivo deste trabalho, no geral, ? compreender o papel das Cooperativas Habitacionais Autofinanci?veis na produ??o de moradia na RMN, a fim de identificar o seu papel no mercado imobili?rio, na promo??o da casa pr?pria e na pol?tica habitacional. O universo considerado ? a atua??o das Cooperativas Habitacionais com sede em Natal - CHAF-RN, COOPHAB-RN, MULTHCOOP e CNH -que atuam atrav?s do autofinanciamento. ? considerada a totalidade dos 38 empreendimentos lan?ados no per?odo de 1993 a 2002, abrangendo 8143 unidades habitacionais.
