DPF: App for diagnosing the psychological profile of a possible feminicide

Ramirez, Ivette, Mauricio, David 01 March 2020 (has links)
The most visible expression of violence against women is feminicide. The majority of feminicide cases are committed by the partner or former partner of the victim. This involves ongoing domestic abuses, threats or intimidation, sexual violence or situations in which women have less energy or resources than their partner. In addition, clinics, public hospitals or private health institutes have mental health evaluation processes, however, these flows are usually carried out in several sessions, which causes a delay in the diagnosis. In this article, a mobile application that supports psychologists or psychiatrists during the process of the psychological profile diagnosis is proposed. The system contains a questionnaire and psychological tests, in this way, based on the patient responses, indicators, and metrics, the psychological profile of the assailant is obtained as a result. The use of the system in 40 patients shows that the selection times and the psychological test qualification have improved, as well as the interpretation of the results and the total process of diagnosis, which, when obtained at opportune time, allows specialists to prevent the victim from a possible feminicide.

An exploratory study for the psychological profile of a Civil Military Coordination Officer as a selection tool for training

Lloyd, Gary 03 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MComm (Industrial Psychology))--University of Stellenbosch, 2008. / The introduction of a multidimensional approach towards peace missions in complex emergencies emphasises the importance of coordination between the military and the humanitarian components at all levels of interaction. Cooperation and coordination between the military and humanitarian components are critical in achieving a common goal to alleviate suffering and save lives. The challenge is how to develop, enhance and sustain an effective working relationship to overcome the conflicting views on coordination from the military and humanitarian perspectives. Humanitarians fear the loss of independence and neutrality when associated with the military. The military tend to undermine humanitarians role and functions in becoming directly involved in humanitarian action. During selection, the military needs to identify members who firstly conform to the generic psychological peacekeeping profile and who secondly, portray the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the coordination function between the military and the humanitarian component. The challenge remains to select competent military members in the absence of a psychological profile for the coordination function. Through this research, the psychological profile for a Civil Military Coordination Officer is defined. In the theoretical discussion, the importance of coordination is emphasised through analyses of the challenges, roles, functions and behaviours associated with Civil Military Coordination Officers in multidimensional peace missions. The theoretical foundation and primary data from field research are integrated in a competency model for Civil Military Coordination Officers. The results of this research are presented as a model of provisional selection criteria for Civil Military Coordination Officers.

The relationship between coping behaviour, personality characteristics and psychological distress in South African police trainees

Moller, Anneli 26 November 2008 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to explore the psychological profile of South African police trainees. A literature study highlighted three important pretrauma variables that can influence an individual’s resilience when stressful circumstances occur. These variables include coping behaviour, personality characteristics and psychological distress. The primary goal of the research was to explore whether a relationship exists between these pretrauma variables and if demographic differences occur. Police officers in South Africa are exposed to violent circumstances, which can have a negative impact on their psychological functioning; it is therefore important to explore which psychological profiles are more likely to result in resilience. Studies such as this one can be used to facilitate the selection of resilient police officers in South Africa. A quantitative research investigation was conducted using three instruments namely, the Ways of Coping Questionnaire (WOC), Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) and the Symptom Checklist-90-R (SCL-90-R). As a secondary aim, the psychometric properties of these instruments were briefly explored. A sample of 150 police trainees was selected to take part in the research study during their first six months in training, before entering the field. The selected sample size yielded a total of 142 completed tests. The participants were selected using a method of stratified random sampling, which resulted in an equal distribution of male and female trainees. The results confirm that the trainees are more likely to use adaptive coping mechanisms, and are generally psychologically healthy. As expected, significant relationships exist between the three pretrauma variables under investigation. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2008. / Psychology / unrestricted

Perfil psicológico e interesses profissionais de estudantes de odontologia / Psychological profile and professional interests of dentistry students

Ponte, Teresa Maria da 06 December 2012 (has links)
The objective of this study was to determine if students of the University of São Paulo School of Dentistry (FOUSP) had a tendency to a particular psychological profile and relate the results with answers about career choices, investigating whether or not there was an association between choices of work and behavioral profile. The study was cross-sectional type, using two selfadministered questionnaires: a psychological profile one and another about professional interests, both of which were distributed to FOUSP students. The study was approved by the FOUSP Ethical Comittee. Data were organized and analyzed using STATA 12.0. Results: Participated on the study 415 students enrolled in Dentistry course, from all classes and semesters. Data collection was conducted during the second half of 2011. The sociodemographic characteristics presented show that 72.29% of the students were female and 27.71% male and were aged between 17 and 44 years (mean age 21.98 years). As to the reasons for choosing the course of dentistry, 54.94% of the participants indicated the vocation; 15.70% by having dentists in the family; 14.22% due to the possibility of flexible hours; 9.88% for financial success and 19.76% for other reasons. In a hypothetical situation of the same income and hours of work for several career alternatives, 58.07% of the students would prefer to work in his/ her private practice, 27.47% as an employee in the public sector, 15.18% as a faculty member and 8.19% as an employee in the private sector. Nonetheless, predicting the beginning of the career, 42.89% believed that their first job would be as an employee in private sector, 25.06% in his/her private practice, 23.37% as employee in the public sector and 16.63% pursuing a career in teaching. Looking 10 years ahead, 73.25% saw themselves working in their own clinic, 19.28% as employees in the public sector, 13.01% as faculty members and 7.47% as employees in the private sector. The contents considered more important to the professional success of dentists were, in descending order of importance: clinical (58.31%), basic (26.75%) and social disciplines (14.94%), for both genders. Almost all students, 98.31%, valued knowledge of administrative processes to manage dental offices or teams and 89.40% were interested in acquiring knowledge in the human resource management field. Regarding temperament, 46.27% were identified as SJ (Guardian), 21.45% NF (Idealist), 14.70% NT (Rational) and 3.13% SP (Artisan); 14.46% could not be defined. The predominant psychological types were ESTJ/Supervisor (13.49%), ISTJ/Inspector (13.25%), ISFJ/Protector (6.51%) and INFJ/Advisor and ENTJ/Marshall Field, which presented equal 6.27%. The SJ temperament was the most frequent in both female (48.00%) and males students (41.74%), but the second most common type was different between genders: NF in women (23.67%) and NT in men (21.74%). There was a statistically significant difference in this association, as demonstrated by the chi-square test (p = 0.003). To conclude, most of the students were likely to be SJ psychological temperament and the second most frequent type was the NF for students in virtually all semesters; however there was a difference between genders: the second category between women was NF, but NT for men. A statistically significant difference was found in the association between temperament and gender. The vast majority of students intended to exercise their professional activities in his or her own dental office. The other options followed this order of preference: employee in the public sector (less than half the percentage of first choice), member of faculty and employee in the private sector. No association was found between psychological profiles and choice of career.

The objective of this study was to measure the serum concentration of muscle-skeletal lesions biochemical markers and the psychological state of professional athletes from a soccer team playing at first division. 11 male athletes were evaluated with ages of 26,5 ± 7,5 years, high of 1,73 meters (± 0,5 cm) and weight of 77,1 (± 3,8 kilograms). The gathering of data was made during the annual cycle of practices and games, always before practice in the morning, on six distinct periods of training: pre-season (PT), competitive period one (C1), competitive period two (C2), competitive period with a 72 hours interval after the last activity (recovering period) (C72), competitive period three (C3) and competitive period four (C4). Every day, before the blood sample collect to the biochemical evaluations, a questionnaire of attendance to the psychological variables was applied using the BRUMS scale. On biochemical blood evaluation, were applied serum doses of: creatine kinase (CK), lactato dehydrogenase (LDH), aspartate aminotransferases (AST) and alanine aminotransferases (ALT), magnesium (Mg2+) and calcium (Ca2+). The enzymatic and mineral values found for the analyzed period indicate significant variations when compared to PT. The concentration of CK, LDH and AST demonstrated a great sensibility to detect the risk of lesion when presents progressives and simultaneous increases for the analyzed period, while the ALT, Ca2+ and Mg2+ are not good markers to the risk control of a soccer lesion. The BRUMS scale showed a good reprodutibility to the evaluation of the psychological state of athletes under training, the most significant variables to the detection of lesions risk are fatigue and energy and they present significant correlation with the biochemical markers. 15 lesions were observed through the study, distributed on 11 athletes. The periods of major numbers of lesion for group 1 was C4 (3 lesions 75%) and for group 2 was C1 (3 lesions 60%). When the frequency and distribution of lesions on the observed periods are visualized, we can affirm that there are a tendency to occur a greater number of lesions in periods where we find greater increases of biochemical concentration, especially of CK, LDH and AST, also an increase of stress and fatigue, followed by a progressive decrease on energy. The results of this study indicate a very important relation between the physical wear caused by excessive training and emotional stress that appear in response to the organism aggression by the routine of practices and games of the professional soccer athlete. The need of biochemical and psychological control in training is evidenced by the identification of physical and mental wear, as well as to the practice of preventive actions seeking the preservation and increase of the athlete s sport life.

Contribution à la compréhension de l’effet de la culture d’entreprise et du profil psychologique du dirigeant sur l’orientation entrepreneuriale des PME françaises / Contribution to the role of corporate culture and the psychological profile of the leader in Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) of French SMEs

Cherchem, Naïma 13 December 2011 (has links)
Our proposed PhD thesis aims to provide a better understanding of the role of corporate culture and the psychological profile of the leader in Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) of French SMEs. The nature of the research remains in the original french literature. Indeed, the research work on the EO have tended to focus mainly in the Anglo-Saxon literature. The main interest of our thesis are:1) to highlight specific actions that would develop a culture conducive to entrepreneurship;2) to encourage the vocation of the leaders in their entrepreneurial approach ;3) to gain insight into the determinants of economic and financial performance of entrepreneurial firms;4) to specify the characteristics of french SMEs through the approach of configurations. To meet these goals, we built a specific key question: How corporate culture and psychological profile of the leader affect the entrepreneurial orientation of french SMEs and their performance? To conduct this research, we opted for a quantitative empirical study through a questionnaire administered to managers of SMEs of Chambre Régionale de Commerce et d’Industrie of Nord-Pas-de Calais and Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie of Beaujolais. We have collected 123 complete responses. To achieve the treatment analysis, we used the approach of linear regression with the software STATA.11 to test the nature of the relationship between key variables in our study. In the second part of analysis, we used the approach of the configurations with hierarchical ascendant components method, in order to specify the caracteristics of french SMEs.Regarding the first hypothesis, the results of the quantitative empirical study shows that entrepreneurial culture and the group culture are associated with innovation, proactive and risk-taking activities. Conversely, the hierarchical culture is negatively associated with the entrepreneurial activities. The second hypothesis about the psychological profile, the leaders who have a locus of external control appear to contribute positively to the process of OE. We have shown that these leaders lead their firms to achieve better performance. The need for achievement of the leader is also related to the orientation of the firms to entrepreneurial activities.Regarding the third hypothesis, we have shown that the entrepreneurial activities of the SMEs contribute to the improvement of its economic and financial performance. In the second part of this study, we tested our conceptual model with the approach of configurations. Our objective is to propose a taxonomy of SMEs according to the intensity of the EO. The analysis of hierarchical ascendant components have shown three types of SMEs: 1) entrepreneurial SMEs, 2) conservative SMEs and 3) emerging SMEs

Guardiola, Emmanuel 22 January 2014 (has links)
Can we track psychological player’s traits or profile through gameplay or, at least, when the player is engaged in a ludic experience? We propose a game design methodology dedicated to the generation of psychological profile of the player. The main experimentation, a vocational guidance game, was created with academic experts and industrial game developpers. The first results set the basis of the exploration of a field at the crossover of computer sciences, in particular game design, psychology and cognitive sciences.

L’accent en français, phénomène pluridimensionnel / Stress in French, a multi-dimensional phenomenon

Bestchastnova, Eugénie 17 November 2016 (has links)
This PhD thesis is dedicated to stress in French. At the onset of our research work, we made the hypothesis that stress in French had a multi-dimensional nature, and were tied in with psychological, social, cultural, physiological, pragmatic, cognitive and linguistic factors. This hypothesis was challenged and validated after studying the corpus which we had pieced together. The scientific aim of this work was to seek new approaches and methods, and use them in the study of stress in the French language with correlation to or in opposition with its context.40 individuals representative by their physiological, social, cultural, linguistic, and psychological features took 5 different tests, which brought to light their speech patterns in various discursive situations. As anticipated by the initial hypothesis, the following came out of the study:4. there is a correlation between an individual’s psychological profile and the stress;5. there is a correlation between an individual’s social and economic background and the stress;6. there is a correlation between an individual’s linguistic background and the stress. The new discovery which came out of our studies shows a correlation between the individual’s psychological profile and the substance of the stress that he produces. It opens up new scientific field which wasn’t exploited before now and enables us to define an individual’s psychological profile based on his/her employed stress nature, as well as to define a stress substance using the individual’s psychological profile. The results obtained as part of our scientific research open up new possibilities in linguistics, pragmatic, psycholinguistic, and sociolinguistic.

The object of the study is the professional thinking of psychology students. The subject of the study was predictors of the development of diagnostic thinking. The master's thesis consists of an introduction, three chapters, a conclusion, a list of references (61 sources) and an appendix that includes the results of the methods (in points) and the content of the test. The volume of the master's thesis is 94 pages, which contain 1 figure and 5 tables. The introduction reveals the relevance of the research problem, the development of the problem, sets the goal and objectives of the research, defines the object and subject of the research, formulates hypotheses, specifies methods and empirical base, as well as the stages of the research, the theoretical and practical significance of the work. The first chapter includes a review of foreign and domestic literature on the topic of research of professional thinking of psychologists and psychology students. The sections that reveal the structure of the phenomenon, its parameters and mechanisms are presented. The conclusions of the first chapter are the results of the study of the theoretical material. The second chapter is devoted to the practical work of a psychologist. It highlights psychodiagnostics as the main practical activity of a psychologist. The structure, mechanisms and features of writing a diagnostic conclusion by a psychologist are considered. Psycholinguistic parameters are determined for evaluating the final conclusions of students. To reveal the features of the intellectual and personal characteristics of the written speech of the psychologist. The conclusions of chapter 2 include the main results. The third chapter is devoted to the empirical part of the study and includes: a description of the organization and methods of the study and the results obtained by all the methods used (the 16-factor personal questionnaire of R.
